The point is there is a difference with some of the aspects like skills.
A 1% chance can be the difference. In the last week for example 2 of my
players barely made important tasks with RIGHT on the %.

The reason is development. Bringing a character from say 18 to 40 is a
good fun active time. I've done that with several characters and finally
retired them. Its the whole process of role-playing. That's why play the same
character. But if you mean rolling up the same one then that's just a factor
of working with something that is proven (G)

Why not compromise. Have both random numbers and a point system. It can
be done and several games do the same thing. That way both sides are happy.
