[PnP] Bards

In my pbem got a new character that wants to play a Bard.

But I'm all new to the bards.  

Seems like I gather everything but this Rank stuff.

How does a new character determine his rank?

Maybe i missed something I knwo its done by Empathy but if you could just
clear this up :)
