If Chion is willing to teleport any Arawn would like to accompany
in hopes of spotting the sack and matching it to his vision.
Otherwise Arawn will Translocate himself, after casting a max EL
Mana Shield on himself, taking any with him that wish to
accompany him (up to 2 extra- don't have my sheet handy so not
sure of my limit at the moment) on a search for the sack.
GM: Ack. Gee. A minor clue finally figured out? :) Was only
mentioned about three times in updates.

[New Stuff]
[Julis 29th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
[ Around 60 odd miles south of Shantou city]
[Time: 12:47pm]
Farseeker outlines his plan to Arawn quickly.
Arawn listened carefully to Farseeker's plan. "Not bad," he
whispered back. "That's one option, the other might be to
transmute his bindings to something less sturdy."
Farseeker shakes his head. "Too risky." Farseeker can't
explain the risks to a layman like Arawn. But tactics wise
the expert military man can see the guards are keeping a constant
eye on the prisoner. If one guard looks away another takes
his place. If any material changes in texture or shape or
color like the ropes or gag the guards will know and likely
kill the prisoner before the spell ends. But Farseeker simply
shakes his head as the group is already passing the party's
position and there is no time to explain all this.
Caladan walks by and hands a small cooking knife to Arawn
to use. The blade is no longer than a middle finger and
the hilt is a simple wooden one a third that size.
Arawn tries to connect to the wizard through his eye contact
via a empathic connection and his Elf ability. But the eye
contact is quickly broken. It was only two seconds and the
wizard moved on to others in the group and then quickly
looked forward. Arawn tries to convey a message but his
connection to the man is not made and he is only thinking to
himself in his own head.
Arawn casts a mana shield upon himself without gestures and
words. He doesn't have time to notice if his aura chances
to indicate it worked or not. If he had he'd realize it
failed which is rare for him. But there is simply no time
as the patrol is moving on.
In the blink of an eye Arawn considers transmuting the ropes
and gag. He weighs the risks and benefits. He knows the wizard
can't simply hop off the horse and escape. That is impossible.
He knows he can't gallop away. He could cast a spell but
that would take 3 seconds. Three seconds that would mean
his head would hit the ground before he finished the words
by those pikes. Transmuting the bindings would be useless
later as once he stopped at a town the guards would haul
him down and likely resecure the ropes. They'd find it
and just replace them. No. His superior intelligence
quickly tells him it is not a good plan. It would fail.
Though it would distract. There is that chance. It
would distract them from searching his body. Arawn considers
this as a benefit. But surely the guards in the rear would
notice his gag change texture or color. No. Doing something
plain in view is not worth it.
Farseeker turns to Arawn and grunts to get things moving.
Arawn decides the warriors plan is more reliable. But
where to send the knife? His shirt or his boot. Both have
their own risk in that cutting the body. Arawn glances down
to look at the knife to find it not that sharp. It wouldn't
cut just by rubbing the skin. Arawn glances back up at the
fleeting patrol. He eyes the boot of the wizard on his left
side. It is a bit higher than ankle high deep enough for
the knife. If he could send the knife the man would have
a chance to escape later when the guards are relaxed. Instead
of six there might only be 2 on duty in a camp or town. He
would have a far better chance for escape then. Arawn nods
and quickly begins to concentrate and places the knife in
his palm and down at his side. With Farseeker blocking any
view he gestures slightly and speaks the words since he is
not seen by the guards.
Arawn hopes this works. It is one thing to translocate a person
in the heat of battle. But it is another to send a object. He
knows Chion has done it but only when he went as well. As he
finished the words the knife disappears. He glances up and
watches the group ride off.
The wizard shifts in the saddle. His left foot wavers slightly
in the saddle foot holders. The wizard glances down to the
ground on the left side but his hands do not move from holding
the saddle horn for balance. The wizard then glances up and
around and then behind him over his left shoulder toward the
party.
"Eyes forward scum." One of the guards commands.
The wizard turns forward and the patrol moves north down the
road.
Farseeker turns to Arawn and looks for the knife. When he
finds it missing he smiles. "Good work. Now it is his fair
chance to escape. We should help him further but there are
too many witnesses."
Arawn considers his option to trail the patrol. It is midday
so they will likely for another six hours before making camp
in a town or the wilderness.
***********
[Time: 7:21pm]
Even though Raban, Strie'bog and Arawn are secluded away
from the camp and talking quietly those who walk by have
a slight chance of overhearing their conversation. Though it
was meant as a private conversation, especially for Raban
and his slight secret.
Will overhearing part of the conversation wonders "is it
possible to contract a social coral and if so is amputation the
only remedy?"
***********
[Time: 10:24pm]
After a short 30 odd minute period of prayer Arawn stands
up quickly.
As the image of the bag flashes through Arawn's mind he closes
his prayer, giving his appreciation as he does so. Recalling
the baroness's words along with the memory of the pills that
could have saved Rua's life he hurries back to the group. He
ensures he isn't within sight or hearing range of the noble.
But that is easy as she is sleeping inside the small tent
as she tends to do as her body deals with the invading object.
"I was communing with Morrigan and Payan in prayer and I
believe I was given a clue in vision. I saw a simple sack, maybe
of leather. I remember the pills found in the Shaper's belongings
and the baroness mentioned the same satchel containing tools to
control her servant, the one that died before we arrived. I think
this is the sack in my vision and somewhere within it is the key
to dealing with this coral-growth. I think some of us should
teleport back to the fairground and attempt to retrieve the
satchel. Let us hope that the groundskeeper hasn't destroyed it."
Chion shakes his head not wanting to teleport back but remains
quiet on the reason.
Zhou sighs and shakes his own head. "No. You do realize it
has been over 3 days. Three and a half days since we left the
grounds. In that time the place has been searched and cleaned
up. If the Katai thought it tainted they would have burnt the
place down. The family might've found it and destroyed it as
well. If it was a day or few hours after maybe. But not three
days. Plus I would prefer no one go back. But if you wish to
do so then by all means. Just be aware that if the Katai are
still there you are likely going into a trap with guards waiting
to see if we or the Vong return."
Raban shakes his head clearing his mind. bag? Shaper?
Then the big giant slaps his forehead. Of course!
At that moment Caladan turns to the giant. "Didn't you bring
out from the house a bag full of pills? When Rua mentioned he
needed his pills and likely could be found on the leader? You
showed them to us but I guess we forgot."
Raban nods recalling the bag of pills that likely would've
controlled Rua's exploding head implants. It was the only
thing he found on the body of the Shaper. He placed it
on his horse and no one has looked at it since.
Raban heads to his horse and searches for the bag. He finds
it soon and opens the coin change sized bag. He finds about
a dozen white and orange looking pills. But nothing else inside
the bag.

[Julis 30th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
[ Around 90 odd miles south of Shantou city]
A new arrives and the party breaks camp. The day draws on
and even though the skies are overcast the temperatures
skyrocket to over 100 degrees in the hottest part of the day.
This requires wearing of no armor and allowing the horses to
rest and breath every so often more than usual.
[Time: 12:17pm]
the only interesting encounter today on the road besides
the normal daily traffic is a group of 10 peasants. They
are moving south to north and pass the party. The group
notice they seem a bit agitated and most of them talk quietly.
But from pieces of the conversation it seems clear they
are avoiding the local authorities. The group passes by
fast but it seems they are avoiding justice for some reason.
Either for lawful reasons or personal. it only takes a few
minutes before they pass. The group isn't so sure why a group
avoiding the law or local noble or someone else would be
moving on a public road. But that is their business.
***********
[Julis 31st, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
[ Around 120 odd miles south of Shantou city]
Another day comes to the journey of the group to save the
Empire from the bad Vong. Ironically millions will go about
their business as their Empire is either rescued or doomed
by the group but none will know of it.
The skies clear today and that brings the unbearable sun.
While the temperature doesn't break triple digits it does get
to the high 90s.
[Time: 6:06pm]
The party has traveled almost all day and most are ready
for camp. But that might be another hour away. The only
encounter today of interest is another group of 10 peasants
walking by the group. This group seems more jovial and
relaxed.
When Kell asks about local towns and villages nearby one
of the peasants give directions to a town 3 more miles down
the road and off a side road. It is small but has supplies.
But when he mentions that there is another town 5 miles
down the road to the east he recommends avoiding it. There
is apparently a break of some disease spreading through the
village of a few hundred. Local gossip is it has spread from
bird to man or something. The peasant group moves on.
The healers find the idea of disease interesting. They
could likely cure the whole town with some work. But it would
involve a time consuming task and away from their overall
mission. As Zhou says the group is here to do their mission
not save the Empire's people. Sure they'll save the people
and the world maybe but the party can't fight every battle.
***********
[Augado 1st, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
[ Around 150 odd miles south of Shantou city]
The camp is broken up to cool temperatures. It seems a cool
front has arrived and party welcomes it after days of the
unbearable plain heat. In fact the temperature doesn't even
break 80 today which is a very nice change. Clouds roll in
but it is only cloudy and not fully overcast.
This day brings no significant event to deal with.
It is estimated that tomorrow night the party will be in
Crossroads as they are only 20 odd miles from the town.
The town of Crossroads is named for a major highway
spoke point. One road goes north east up the eastern
coastal regions. One road goes west and back up to
Shantou province. The other one spoke goes south to the
Lower Katai regions including Pamau province. This makes
the town a major trade center.
Unali explains that Crossroads isn't the official term
or name for the city but it has picked up as the unofficial
name over the centuries. The true name has long been
forgotten or discarded. Normally the town she explains
might only have 8,000 people. But during harvest and
certain times of the year it can grow to 5 times that size
as farmers, traders, merchants and others come to the town
to buy and sell their wares. This time of year she
believes the town is probably double its size but within
another month when harvest begins for some crops the town
could increase as the weeks pass.
Zhou pipes in at the camp that night. "We'll do one final
rest in the town or margins. Some of us will go into town
for supplies and information. The others will stay with
the wagon."

Next Update...Monday...
GM: I know this is opening a Pandora's box. But I have
documented the spell tweaking rules my group has used
for over 2 decades but never fully documented to this
extent. It has been on the site in the links section
at the very bottom. Read at your leisure. It is too
big to be placed in the Rules file link. Enjoy the
file and I'm sure I'll be getting tons of emails on it.
GM: Arawn - let me know if you trail and rescue the wizard.
Looks like Will technically was the only other one
interested. Maybe he'll join you? But no one else
is as it could be a half day's ride behind the party
and the risks involved. Also let me know if you teleport
back to the carnival grounds and such. So far no one has
posted interest in that either. So might be the only
one to do both. Otherwise we'll move on.
GM: I've moved the party along down the road and into the
trip. Monday I'll enter the party and do some basic
stuff in town. If you have specific things to do let
me know as it will be bigger than most normal towns
and villages. If Arawn does venture on his own and
gets captured though this may change. So we'll see
what is decided by him. I would do a bit more tonight
but storm delayed work as I avoided computer work
during the storm. I will update the stats below for
the current day, Augado 1, depending on if Arawn and
others go to rescue the wizard and back to the carnival
grounds. If nothing is stated by Sunday night then I
will assume none of this happens.
