[Recap]
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Heehee.
Kiets heart swells with the success of driving off the
OOC...a creature like that could
have poisoned essentially the entire crew with
one breath blast. Fortunate it didnt have time for more than one.
GM: Ack. Ship is too big for his
cloud. He didn't get chance to jump on deck and
that's in itself is a feat the dragon had
better ability for such. But it was limited for
attacks per turn as well. So yes got lucky.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
With a quick glance around to
make sure everyone was okay he gave ...
"I can try and follow it if anyone wishes."
If he's given approval Arawn
will take a quick look over the side before
shape-shifting in a fish as he plunges over the side.
OOC: If he spots anything
belonging to the wyrm, likes scales, that could
be used for a Tracking spell he'll grab it if possible.
GM: Ack. Sadly since didn't get on
ship getting 'stuff' would be impossible with
waves and water washing it away. Plus a fish vs
Wyrm speed wise is not good as he'd be 4-5x faster. :<
From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
"Don't be a damned fool, you
over-sized Sidh! You almost died ...
GM: Ack.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Arawn will mention that he's
willing to look into the chainmail if anyone
wishes. He's willing to share research duties
with whomever it was that offered via PM as well.
GM: Ack. Finally a public response to this. :)
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
"A simple, no thank you, would suffice," Arawn replied.
GM: Ack. I don't think its meant as
it reads. He's only acting IC as a gruff dwarf
who has a bit of power to his head. :) In fact
its been 19 years since we even had such
words. Its actually refreshing to see tension.
:) Not this all nicey nicey stuff. :)
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
"I checked it out, privately,
myself. It seems to be strongly
GM: Ack.
From Raddok: [Re: Actions]
Apris 30, after 9-ish
Raddok, after the wyrm appears
to have left the ship, continues ...
GM: Ack. So for IBT still doing
Fomorian not weapons? Just making sure.
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
"Well, I suspect I am not alone, but I did check out that
GM: Ack. There is enough magical
knowledge in group to know anyone can wear it
without danger. Except that aligned group it protects from. :)
From Raddok: [Re: Actions]
Upon hearing Kiet report on the
magical chainmail armor, Raddok
GM: Ack.
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra opts to use the language
necklace to learn Ba'ru; Taolisan; Teosan; Dechan
and Dawana as well as the supernatural languages:
Earth; The Elder and Cernunnos if those that
speak those tongues will assist her in learning them.
She will use her armorer skill and
Orient self EL0 and Perception spell (at maxEL
and thru her staff) to learn about the magical
armor, telling Corona its properties while she is
in trance and asking Corona to repeat back to her
the properties after the trance is over.
As she has time while off duty or
supervising she will take time to complete some
artistic belts for fellow party members. When
each is complete she will enchant (using MaxEL
Purification and her staff) them with the following:
EL3 Enchantment for Armor so that
the belt is hard to damage and should survive for a long time.
MaxEL Ensorcellment at 3x cost
to defend the wearer (adding its MDV) against all Chaos magics.
When each is complete she will
gift the belt to party members that she has promised them to.
GM: Ack. Only 5 slots for necklace
and I think Pyan used one. Had plenty of time
previously but that's long gone now. I only
mentioned it for months. :) As to armor also a
bit late I mentioned that over a month ago. Only
took till now to get It public via
kiet/Arawn. But you can ask new owner if can do
those spells. As to belts doing all this mana
just days from big mission?Wow. That's good for
the bad guys. But how many belts and to whom
since you may be doing this before the cart sorta
thing. Hate to waste mana and no one to give
them to. Then tapped out for actual work
later. But I can still do Apr 30 and land in
Vahear may 2 I think few days later.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
"I can back Kiet's observations, though I'm still in the
GM: Ack.

[New Stuff]
[Apris 29th, 1636TH]
[Time: 1:12 pm]
Arawn offers to inspect the mysterious armor.
A few days after the pirate treasure
there is still conflicts and mysteries. The
mysterious chain hasn't been publicly inspected
yet. But Kiet steps up about this.
"I checked it out, privately,
myself. It seems to be strongly tied to Elder,
though not Sidh Elder. Perhaps strong enough to
be a danger to anyone not like it."
"Of all of us here, I fear I may be
the only one that could safely deal with it, and
that thought disturbs me. I recommend it be handled gently. And carefully."
"Well, I suspect I am not alone, but
I did check out that armor. I've been hoping for
some magic chainmail on one of the trips we take. This is what I found out."
"It seems to be made by a wizard much
stronger than am I. It also looks to be very high
quality, but that is not my expertise. The armor
seems tied, and strongly so, to my Elder
alignment. So much so I might think there is a
danger to pretty much any of the rest of you if
you tried it on. It seems to have strong
protections on it, as any armor should, but
mostly against an alignment I could not
discern. It definitely has a protection spell on it."
"It also has Aerial Powers with which I am rather familiar."
"Beyond that it's a mystery. But
it's strong! Powerful! I find myself anxious in
anticipation of what it can provide, still feel
the need to approach it with some caution."
Upon hearing Kiet report on the
magical chainmail armor, Raddok gladly drops even
his mild interest in ownership (he had felt it
was 'above his touch,' so to speak) with a sense
of mild relief, except to have a feeling of nice
anticipation/curiosity of the further discoveries
Kiet might make, if he uses the armor. Elder
alignment was a good one to have with them on
this adventure, Raddok felt, although that meant
Chaos would be attracted to fight it. Raddok had
no strong pull toward a particular alignment, but
felt a mild comfort and friendship toward the
Elder and Balance, as they had been of indirect
help in the past, in his earlier adventures. He
hoped that Kiet would be careful until he knew
more about the armor's still-hidden surprises,
and was personally comfortable in leaving those
discoveries to the far more experienced shaman.
I can back Kiet's observations,
though I'm still in the process of fully
investigating it," Arawn chimed in. "I can add
that the protection is against the forces of
Shadow. And it possesses some measure of
semi-intelligence. I would back him on being the best guardian of the armor."
Having heard the description of the
mysterious armor from Kiet and later Arawn, Unali
relinquishes her claim on the armor. "Kiet, if
the armor suits your alignment, it seems that you
would be best served by keeping it."
Finn laughs, she is funny! laughing at the pun.
--------------------------------
[Apris 29th, 1636TH]
[Time: 7:11 pm]
Arawn and Unali talk privately at
front of ship. Those who watch see Arawn hand
Unali a pack of something. A few seconds later
Unali bows and then Arawn bows back to Arawn.
--------------------------------
[Apris 30th, 1636TH]
[Time: 8:03:04 am]
Kiets heart swells with the success
of driving off the foul, noxious
creature. "YEAH!" he yells as it retreats,
hopefully never to be seen or heard from
again. He hasnt encountered such a ghastly
beast before and is so happy to see it run that he does a Lemasan sailor's jig.
When he calms down, he goes over to Raddok,
looks him in the eye and reaches out to shake his
hand, really hands grasping forearms. "It seems
you are not helpless. Good job! Just
remember...such a gift should only be used in the most dire of emergencies."
Zepp passes the two, yes you
two...don't sneeze and burn the ship down! As he the steering wheel.
Then Kiet smiles at Raddok and says "We fared well!"
Thinking to himself, Kiet wonders who
might be the source of such a gift. Interesting.
Arawn watches as the creature goes
deep under the waters and he loses sight of it.
With a quick glance around to make
sure everyone was okay he gave Kiet and Raddok a smile before turning to Unali.
The dwarf turns to everyone, "good
job everyone! Driving it off so quickly may have
saved us all." He looks over to Kiet and Raddok, and nods his head.
"Don't be a damned fool, you
over-sized Sidh! You almost died the last time
you took off on your own. Have you learned
nothing?" Dorhak shakes his head in
disbelief. "Leave this ship to follow that
abomination and I'll have you tossed in chains if
you return, and leave you behind if you don't!"
"On a different note, since we
havent been able to work out a fair division of
some of the goods from our pirate friends, Ill
work out something. Understand, however, that I
intend to be more generous to the least
experienced amongst us. My intent is that
bringing up these people gives everyone a better chance to survive."
"A simple, no thank you, would
suffice," Arawn replied. "As to whether I
'learned' anything, things played out exactly as
I foresaw. I could've taken that ship out from
our deck but there was a reason I did what I did.
Though it might not make sense to you right now.
I won't follow the wyrm, at your
request. But please mind your manners and don't
threaten me, chains or otherwise. I ride this
ship to help speed you along even though it slows me down."
[Apris 30th, 1636TH]
[Time: 9:01 am]
Raddok, after the wyrm appears to
have left the ship, continues the inner hull
checks the First Mate had assigned him. While
completing the inspection, and applying any flags
to whatever needs resurfacing soon below deck
(although he might be assigned to complete the
resealing, he's not the most experienced at it),
he begins reviewing what's he's learned on this
journey - the dagger skill, learning to swim, the
language necklace, the gifted ring - and he
appreciates the time the others take to improve
each others skills, even if some of the
adventuring time (cleaning off dragon slime, for
example) was an unpleasant chore, he chuckles to himself.
He begins to wonder - again - how the
others' & his own Fomorian language skills are
going to hold up in the days ahead. He decides
that perhaps from now on, unless Dorhak or
another ship's officer tells him not to, that
he's would try to speak only in Fomorian; he
wants to be comfortable as he can in the tongue,
and he knows that at least some of the others
despise the imperialistic islanders, and might
not want to practice what they know. He had
managed to get along with the islanders okay, but
living 'humble pie' all the time was definitely
wearing, and he only had to deal with them for a
few weeks. He just hopes his knowledge of mining
and teamster terms, as well as common daily-needs
terms, would be useful to the group. But, for all
he knew, some of his companions might know the
language very well; he would, however, like some reassurance.
Thinking about it a wee bit longer,
he decides not to come up behind someone & speak
Fomorian to them - better cautious than sorry, he grins to himself.
He will continue to offer to do
weapons practice with anyone looking for a
sparring partner - mace, great sword or dagger, and shield.
----------------------------------------------------------
[Apris 30th, 1636TH]
[Time: 8:06 pm]
Still wary of the Wyrm coming back
even if the ship is a dozen or so miles away
leaves the ship at a unease tense state. But now
anchored a rain storm hits the ship and lasts for
51 minutes. It is just a steady rain but no lightning.
--------------
[Ma 1st, 1636TH]
[Time: 6:25 am]
The sailors prepare for another day
of sailing. The day is cloudy and lack of winds
only giving low quality winds only allowing 5
miles of movement today. The temperatures today
range from 34 to 46 degrees making it a brisk and cool day.
[Time: 10:10 am]
It starts to rain in large cold drops that last for 23 minutes.
[Time: 2:36 pm]
It rains again for another 16 minutes.
[Time: 5:52 pm]
Since leaving Dechat the first ship
is spotted. It is a Vahearin ship based on the
flag. While the Black Depths is going west this
ship is moving north east. It is about 4 miles
to starboard in the north west and shows no
interest in stopping or making parlay.
[Time: 7:02 pm]
For hours a stew of meat and veggies
boils and is finally mixed into a large
stew. This cold day the steaming bowl is a warm
welcome even with cold semi hard bread.
Finn stands and begins to pace to
warm up, so I've not heard much on the plan
here. How we are to appear on a island and solve
the mission? He glances to Dorhak briefly. So
let's play what we know. One, Dorhak is attacked
by men in an alley in Sivas. Almost
captured. The sailor tries to recall the
stories told on this month long trip it has
been fairly boring so stories are all what
sailors do. We never figured out how they knew
Dorhak existed. Though we can guess they did as
Dwarves in Sivas are not common. Though I
believe Damon figured they had a contact in town
who found out. Dorhak then gathered his
friends. Damon helped out in a chance encounter
upon seeing Dorhak. Both learns the ship
location. Then Fremea hearing about possible
slaves...got busy. The others finally arrived
and took the ship out. In broad daylight of all times.
This ship, Black Depths, was we
learned owned by another captain and taken out by
Fomorians in Ba'ru or some place. The details on
why the Fomorians were so far north if Vahear is
the target is still sketchy. Brutto guessed it
might be going to the Rogizini Empire was too
dangerous. Going west in Sea of Tears dangerous
due to Climans. So had to find targets in Ba'ru
which is apparently known to have some dwarves.
Before going to Sivas the Fomorians
captured what was it?...half a dozen
dwarves? Barbosa included in the lot. Then they
sailed to Sivas for supplies and learned of Dorhak. Why not get one more?
Captain Khias was the hijacker who
took this ship from the Ba'ru merchants. In a
odd turn of fate Mournath was par to this crew
and ended up killing the captain. There
were....whispers of how Mournath got here but it
seems that past details was not shared with
us. Some figure details on Shaper prison best
not said. 'So where was I... He may be a
decent sailor but a rambling speaker.
Oh yes Raddok was on that crew as
well and both he and Mournath were clueless on
the slaves in the hold. It seems the party tried
some investigations. Kiet made a friend with a
hermit-mage who liked his boots a great deal. He
was able to read the ashes in some mumbo jumbo
way. That with what papers that were roughly
translated you all learned ship was destined for
Vahear. The odd part is why do they only need
Dwarves? I mean..sure...I'm told they are good in
mines. But so are humans. Why not grab humans
and be done? So that's a odd mystery.
Later a love note...or boot love
note...was sent by this hermit and he included
the name of Qamon Velf who is on Vahear to be
some kind of guide? We assume to a mine of some
sort. We are lucky to have Raddok who has been to Vahear and been a miner.
Papers mentioned indirectly a company
Tal-kor? That may or may not own this mine but
its too vague to tell. Maybe Raddok knows them?
The man to meet this Velf guy the
papers imply he was to be met some 2-3 weeks
ago. Are we certain he is still there? What if they got more dwarves?
Let's assume he is still there. Then
what? I suspect Dorhak gong to him might be a
shock as Dorhak should be a prisoner not a
captain. So who will be Khias? This also assumes
Dorhak and Barbosa will be in chains or at least
covertly tied up in town as they move about. I
assume whoever can will speak the best Fomorian
without a heavy accent. So I hope most or some
of you have mastered the language.
So what's the plan? Ship is to dock
Ma'dor a small town of maybe 3 thousand on far
east coast of Vahear. From maps that's almost
due east of Port Vahear itself if I recall? Maybe
20-30 miles away. We are to find this inn if I
recall named the fuzzy dice and find Velf. Then what?
The sailor looks to everyone for answers.
[Time: 10:32 pm]
Another very cold rain hits the ship for 32 minutes.
--------------
[Ma 2nd, 1636TH]
[Time: 6:39 am]
A bit of excitement hits the ship as
finally nearing the final destination in over a
month. Good winds help the ship travel 17 miles
closer. Overcast and winds from north west cause
temperatures to dive to a freezing 2 degrees to
only up to 39 degrees. Yet in some places this is supposed to be late spring?
[Time: 6:42 am]
Rain pelts the ship for 5 minutes and
freezes those unprepared to be on deck.
[Time: 9:12 am]
Sleet slams the ship and lasts for a
odd 45 minutes which is very unusual. Some wonder
if a storm giant in a cloud is hairnet gun?
[Time: 7:16 pm]
Sleet hits the anchored ship for 11
minutes. The sailors murmur this is a bad omen for a day likethis.
--------------
[Ma 3rd, 1636TH]
[Time: 6:17 am]
Mournath estimates they are only 5
miles away from Vahear. So the ship wake sup
early and starts things for departure. Day
clears a bit but remains partly cloudy with
temperatures ranging from 16 to 36 degrees. Good
winds making nice sailing toward the island.
[Time: 10:04 am]
A storm hits the ship even as land is
seen in the far distance. It is a heavy
thundersotrm and rocks the ship in heavy
winds. Mournath has to fight the wheel and the
sailors batten down the rigging. It lasts for 14
minutes before it finally ends.
[Time: 10:32 am]
The Black Depths is now less than a
mile away from the Vahear coast which is seen to
have lines of hills and a few mountain
cliffs. Corona is sent out to find the nearest port.
Actions? Comments?
Next Update...Saturday?
GM: A 3 for 1 update of sorts. A long
update but we get to Vahear and a npc covered
what we know. Since it hasn't been done yet. I
am waiting for Dorhak to post his final loot
choices. It seems since he is de facto leader
and no one has argued against this is acceptable.
In past we had a lot more private loot haggling
for resolutions but not much this time aside from
Raddok. At this point IBT is done. Necklace
stuff is done. Had plenty of time for that. I
will do final sheet edits and send any sheets out
you want. We are officially in last part of
adventure 75% done. Part 3. Last chance to see
mana report before it is erased with mini ibt
results. Now as to next update. Had hoped to be
done last Saturday and had 5 min and would've
been done but staff quit. Then got posts/emails
mon/tue. So its out today (Wed). I'm off
Thursday but too soon for next update. So maybe
Saturday? But at this point we will slow down a
bit as plans are made and things will move slower
not like above 3 days fast. Also I need you guys
to think of what gear you will be taking to
Vahear. This is important is it like the gear
test of prison? Maybe or maybe just a red
herring. Time will tell but it is important to
know. You can wait for sheets if need be. But
assume stuff taken and some left on ship. Will
probably work on IBT results and sheets tomorrow
if I'm up to it. Last time to see necklace stuff
below. The Finn Recap is what I remember as I
have lost files during the crash. So hope its
all correct. On a side note Fomorians if
saw last American Gods ep they talked about them. Funny!
