Game Update #283a in sequence (file #477)
----------------------------------------------------------------

Admin notes: This is only a supplemental
update.
----------------------------update-------------------------------
[Recap] - None
[New Stuff - Current Situation]

*******************************************************
Note: This is just
a supplemental update. Since the
mailing list was
clogged and fixed thanks to wout you
guys did not get
the update till sunday in most cases.
First sorry for
the slew of them. But with my email
issues of some
emails not getting out wasn't sure if
that was the
problem since I sent it out friday. Second
because of that it
gives you guys hardly any time to
react. So
I'll give this supplemental update and give
you ample time for
Friday's definite update for 2 more
combat
phases.
*******************************************************

From Z'leyra: [Re:
Actions]
Rushing over to care for Amin does Z'leyra know what
spell was cast? If an illusion, does her W roll tell
her not to believe it?
Can she tell if the creature is an Alal, Heliophobic
Demon or a Edimmu?
GM: This is a good
thing for everyone. By end of this
update
most folks will know what the monster is. But
I find
that ruins the fun sometimes. So alot of times
unless
your character sheet/background specifically
said
you encountered an Alal then you won't know what
one
looked like would you? Unless you had some skill
like
Supernatural Creatures or Exobiology :). Would
you, a
simple shaman know this creature from sight?
I
don't see much background to say yes. Kaylle might
being
the scholar. He reads. But you? Good chance
you
may not. However, I do play it that if one DOES
recognize it then he/she can yell out the monster name
and
then maybe some brief comments about it to inform
others. Otherwise the abilities of that said creature
is not
known to you as a character but is for sure
known
to you as a player. Thus as a GM this gives
the
character a unfair advantage since your character
doesn't know yet you know. If you know what I'm saying.
Now
with the description I'll supply later you should
be
able to locate the creature. Unfournately there
is
only so many ways one can hide descriptions of
creatures (A dragon is not a dwarf so you can't say
its
not :)). So how you use the information is up
to you
as a player. For those who do not have the
book 3
handy I typed up the complete monster dataset
awhile
back and sent the computer file to Wout. It
may be
on the site (bad spelling and typoes probably
still
in it :)). A simple keyword search would find
the
creature in seconds :< Ok. Enough GM soapbox.
Just
one of those things that dramatics don't help
"Oh gee its an Alal it can do thsi and that!" no
real
thrill in the surprise :)

Now to
Amin. You will find him unconscious. You
will
find his heartbeat fading fast and two severe
wounds. He originally had one from the ship combat
and
refused the healing then if I recall due to
the
minor hit. But the second did him in. So he
has
not been healed any today. But his life is fading.

As to
what spell? That since every basic wizard learns
this
spell knows it was a good chance to be a basic
summoning. Since at least 2 players have already
recognized this (in action emails) you doubt its an
illusion. But you'd have to study the scene more for
the W
roll but Amin may need more of that attention.
As to
the creature. Stay tuned you'll figure it out.
BTW
Alex the above is for everyone as a head's up
of my
GM style not directed to you :)

GM: After some
emails to ensure actions were sent since
the
emails to pnpgm didn't get out per alex...here
is the
slew of actions he resent and posted here
for
clarification purposes only.

From Z'leyra: [Re:
Actions]
6-24-04
Using her shield to protect herself, Z'leyra attacks
#4 as she maneuvers to give herself or her comrades a
shot at his flank or back.
GM: Hes now
dead. Sorry. But I think you did try but
he was
killed before then.

6-25-04
Rushing over to care for Amin does Z'leyra know what
spell was cast? If an illusion, does her W roll tell
her not to believe it? Can she tell if the creature
is an Alal, Heliophobic Demon or a Edimmu?
Using her shield to protect herself, Z'leyra attacks
#4 as she maneuvers to give herself or her comrades a
shot at his flank or back.
GM: That was
handled above. So guess I didn't miss you
actions after all that were vital. :)

From Jordi: [Re:
Actions]
Jordi tries to kill the guard in front of him. Then,
he tries to move to A5 (in the zoomed map), and taking
cover in the corner, discover what is there. However,
there are two important things that Jordi tries to do:

a) To look for magic. Perhaps there are more traps/alarms.
b) To "chase" the enemy guards who try to flee to raise
the alarm.
GM: You probably
posted this before you saw the priestess
appear. Otherwise might wnat to update the above :)
There
are in the A5 corner priestess, 2 guards, and 1
foul
creature before you reach there. The guard in
front
of you IS dead. Got more email from you below
so you
probably clarified this below :)

Jordi:
About
casting healing magic: Jordi has still some mana
points. Just a handful. He can cast a healing spell,
if
needed. However, casting a regeneration spell will
left
him almost with no mana points left, and his EL is
very
low. So he Jordi offers to cast a healing spell,
but
not a regeneration spell.
GM: Chion, this is
your answer. Ack.

From Sergi: [Re:
List]
I have
received 5 times the turn, and two times the
update. So the list works perfectly, at least for me.
GM: See
above. It was clogged and some snafu on my part.
Wout
fixed it. Hes a great guy. We should give him
a
raise? Can you cut him a check in spanish funds?

From Jordi: [Re:
Actions]
Jordi
is worried by the summoned monster, but he is more
worried by the priestess. He imagines that the monster
will
protect the priesstess, so he tries to use to the
party
advantatge this:

"Neva, fire to the woman" -says Jordi in elfic.
"Cholan, help me with the guards" -says Jordi.

He moves towards the monster, moving in a straight line
until he atracts the monster; then, he moves to the north,
trying to provide a better angle of fire for Neva. Of
course, the plan won't work, because Neva is in the back
of the group, and there are a lot of persons in her LOF,
but due to the relative positions of Jordi and the dead
guard #1, Jordi is looking to the west, so he hasn't a
clear LOS to the rest of the party. Once the attention of
the monster is focused on Jordi, fight defensively,
trying to retreat slowly to the north, to give Neva a
better angle of fire.
GM: The dialogue
will take 2 phases. First a easy phase.
If
said fast the cholan phrase one phase. Very good
explanation. Like it. But Neva may take your yell then
move
into position so that'll help convince her. She
might
pop off a short on the 2nd phase of the update.
As to
the monster being the closest you'll have NO
problem in distracting it :). Do you have a particular
plot
of moeement hex wise? Do you attack or just try
to
distract the monster? Clarification for friday.

From Unali: [Re:
Actions/info]
RE:
List going moderated
GM: I got your
email. Sent my reply but my CC did not
come
back :<. So may not have gotten to you. But
you
should know what I mean in reference. I've
not
modified the list in a couple months till you
changed the Password then I added someone to the
list
hope I didn't goof it it up :) I had a more
detailed reply in my email but its not that vital
so
just giving you a reply here. Thanks for re-adding
pnpgm@
back to the list. :) Sorry for any hassle.
I'll
fix those other 2 folks who don't get copies
later
this week in the membership page. As to
character sheet. Give me till end of the week. I
gotta
update some of my notes on the sheet via expereince
and
then I'll send it to you. Assuming you get it :)
I'll
CC to myself to make sure.

From Unali: [Re:
Actions]
Unali
will first round the corner and take in the
situation before specifying any actions. She will join
in the
fight closest on the north (where Xian was), still
fighting two daggers to subdue rather than kill, except
for the monster just summoned. Just try to kill that if
combat ensues. If I am correct the combat she joins is
not the one with the female in chain.
GM: See
below. I'll clarify armor/weapons. So you head
to the
far north. How close you want to get to the
monster/priestess? Course with 5 coming through the
door
in the south that could keep you busy a few phases.
You
may encounter that first depending on movement order.

Unali:
How
far away is the female in chainmail? Less than 6
hex?
It seems so. Lets see what happens first.
GM: From the email
I sent you - [which you never got]
There
are 2 in chain. One to the far left bottom near
the
priestess about 10 away and one coming into the hallway
from
the south door near the right. That's only 3 hexes so
you
could move there likely in a phase or two depending on
who
moves first and the fray of people.
But
I'll clarify this. I'm going to do a semi-supplemental
update
tomorrow night on a clarification to the monster
(forgot to mention the head is wolf-like as if that will
give
it away) and I'll detail all the guards and their gear
and
such. Maybe that will clarify it for you and make a
better
judgement.
GM: So to sum up
see below it'll list who is wearing what.

---------------------------Actions---------------------------

GM: Now for
clarification on the monster. I forgo to mention
one
tidbit. So here is the creature description again.

When it
appears from the yellow circle of light it is
slightly
hunched over but stands tall when it sees where
it is and
looks around 6.5 tall. It is wearing robes
that go down
to the ankle of the creature. it has a human
body but a
wolf head. Its ears are tall and standing
alert.
The hands are human but its fingernails are snarp
and slightly
longer than normal. While it opens its mouth
you see
canine sharp teeth but they are slightly yellow and
drooling as
if in a savory lick. The eyes are black as
coal and are
piercing. You notice when the robe splits,
at least
Jordi and those close notice, that it has a sword
in one hand
but hidden under the robes at the ready. It
also has a
dagger in its leathery belt. It spots Jordi
first and
then the others in the distance.

There that
should let you know what it is without
saying it
out right. Not much you can say what it
is not and
hiding things :) Some Map Icons relabeled
so take
note.

GM: See below for
some more details and clarifications.

First order of business. Remove the dead from
the map. I'll do that and just show where their
bodies were. Also in order to clarify for me
which guard is which I've done a roster and their
true identity (Guard #) so I know which is which.
Since in the last update I confused two guards till
I realized the mistake :)
The roster will show which guard is wearing which
armor and weapons.

Actions? Comments?
