[Recap]<br>
<br>
From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]<br>
Ben'Dar listens to Cetric's explanations with an
expression<br>
obvious anger etched on his ruddy face. His eyes widen
when<br>
Cetric claims that Caladan is "no warrior", and he
looks to<br>
Caladan to observe Caladan's response to the insult. (In<br>
Ben'Dar's tribe, the term "warrior" is a term of
respect<br>
applied to all honorable men of the tribe, whether they
are<br>
actual spear/bow warriors or not.)<br>
<br>
As night approaches, Ben'Dar looks pointedly at Cetric
and<br>
announces coldly, "Though by necessity we travel
together<br>
during the day, I will not make camp with one I neither<br>
respect nor trust. You and those who feel loyalty to you<br>
pick a spot to camp for the night, Cetric. I and
whomever<br>
wants to join me will camp farther down the trail."
Ben'Dar<br>
will make his camp about a quarter mile downwind of
Cetric's<br>
camp. If anyone joins him, he will suggest setting
watches<br>
during the night. If he ends up by himself, he will rely<br>
upon Tef'wo to wake him should danger approach. <br>
<br>
During the following days of the chase, Ben'Dar will
watch<br>
and learn from those with tracking skills. He will try
to<br>
improve his own ability to track. At night, he will work
on<br>
his wolf skin headdress. He will keep it out of sight of<br>
Cetric during the day....for now. :-)<br>
GM: Ack. Good. Best to keep it out of sight. :)<br>
<br>
From Chion: [Re: Actions]<br>
Chion begins after the party has decided to take two days<br>
to catch their enemy with a small side comment of,
"Why<br>
wait? oh well." in Chosai.<br>
<br>
He'll relate this story for Cetric's ears, "I was six
years<br>
old. My sensai was having me help him for the first time
after<br>
nearly two years of training in various arts. It was an
easy<br>
job, my first one. But still I was nervous. I slipped in<br>
during the day prety much un-noticed, being only a kid.
The<br>
festival of Cho'Wa'Chi was almost over and the job would
be<br>
gone in a day. I climbed the wall to the ceiling as I
had<br>
been taught and waited until long after nightfall.<br>
<br>
During this wait I slowly moved into position between
rooms.<br>
I lowered my bamboo rod into the room over the bed. I kept
a<br>
steady hand so as not to make noise. I slowly uncapped
the<br>
vail I had been given and dropped some of the liquid on
the<br>
rod. It slowly made its way down the rod and drop, drop,<br>
drop, dropped into the sleeping man's mouth. He was too<br>
drunk to notice.<br>
<br>
After a few minutes his body seized and the air left his<br>
lungs.He was dead. I slowly began my getaway and was
sliding<br>
open the outside door when a cry went out.<br>
<br>
I stepped quickly outside and looked in. A large number
of<br>
men rushed past me in the next few minutes, all armed
with<br>
katanas. But there was no helping the dead man. And
there<br>
was no vengence available since the criminal was never<br>
caught. Just a brave child doing as he was instructed.
For<br>
my truth shall say this: When I first arrived in Clima I<br>
knew not whom my enemies were and had considered killing<br>
those with whom I now travel. When I first arrived in
your<br>
village I thought I knew whom my enemies were and had not<br>
considered killing those whom I now defend. Life was much<br>
easier when I was a child."<br>
GM: Ack. I know you were thinking of T-porting. But there<br>
is 18 people and 18 horses. That's 18*200=3600 pounds<br>
plus 18*800=14400+3600=18000 pounds you'd have to move.<br>
An inclusion is your weight 250 pounds or so. So it<br>
would require a BIT more EL and many trips :) But<br>
if yoru still interested I could run the numbers and<br>
get exact weights the above is just estimates.<br>
<br>

[New Stuff]<br>
<br>
Octaqi 18, in the 163rd Year [TH]<br>
[Meanwhile somewhere on the plains]<br>
Location: 11.5 Miles SE of Caladan's Village<br>
Time: Roughly 5:45pm] [Day 48 of Trip]<br>
<br>
[As the party prepares for the night at camp a clear<br>
division is seen in small groups of allies and hard<br>
allies. Caladan approaches Ben'dar as Ben'dar dismounts.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "I see you were shocked earlier by Cetric's
comments.<br>
I agree with his words. I'm no warrior. To most views<br>
I'm more a wizard than a warrior. Farseeker and you are<br>
warriors. Xian and myself are wizards. We don't rely on<br>
our skills in weapons. To the tribe women are not
warriors<br>
much less a full fledged member. Most Zen'da believe
this<br>
though there are some tribes and clans who are more<br>
progressive."<br>
<br>
[Later. Cetric hears Chion's story.]<br>
<br>
Cetric: "Thank you. An interesting truth. But I did
not<br>
understand the word...sin say?..."<br>
<br>
Balrog: "My truth? The night Triest was killed by the
street<br>
thugs. I was planning on meeting him and spending the<br>
evening with him. But...I was stealing a book...a stupid<br>
book...for some scholar who paid well...I could've
prevented<br>
the murder...since that night I've decided to steal is
not<br>
as exciting as it used to be...."<br>
<br>
Thig: "Ok. The ship on the seas. The pirate I fed to
the<br>
dogs? I never did that. Was just a trick."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "We know!" [He grins] "How about
another truth?"<br>
<br>
Thig: "A truth...The naptha like explosives I got for
Clima.<br>
I said I had gotten them on Vahear. But in actual fact<br>
I got them from a contact from Katai. Seems there is<br>
some scholar out there working on bigger things that<br>
explode. I may eventually find and help him."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Cetric our custom is these stories are kept<br>
here and not taken back to the clan. I hear of the<br>
lodge code during battles. Stories told on the hunt<br>
or the plains are not told even to wives and familiy<br>
members."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "Correct. Stories told here remain here. To
tell<br>
these stories without the permission of the person is<br>
a great shame."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "So you will not tell anything I speak of in
the<br>
next few minutes?"<br>
<br>
Cetric: "By my honor."<br>
<br>
[Balrog gives a laugh but quickly stops when they glare at
him.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "The reason I left and never came back I've told
you<br>
why. To lead our people is not my way. But there is
more.<br>
Woundenal, the mentor in the mountains, told me a story.<br>
He was known to have flashes of insight and foresight.
He<br>
said the day I would return it would bring danger to our<br>
people. I didn't really believe him but I was naive and<br>
younger then. As years went by I got more experience in<br>
the world. But not that i have returned I see all this<br>
what has gone on. I personally thought it was just
raiders<br>
messing with crops or some disease. I had no idea it<br>
was more serious. I hope his dream was just a fanciful<br>
dream to keep me in his sight for more training..."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "I believe in visions. I've had them myself.
But<br>
I've learned that a vision may not be easilly read or<br>
understood. Shamsns are perfect" [He glares at
Balrog<br>
before he can smirk] "but we do get some visions
right.<br>
But the majority of them are wrongly read. Do not fear<br>
the future is controlled by the gods not the mere mortals<br>
like ourselves."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "When I was young my mom spent time in a cult
village<br>
high in the mountains. They believed in some weird and<br>
scary things. The leader was known to sleep with up to
three<br>
females at any one time. Some of those females real
young.<br>
All in the name of some god. One day the leader was
beating<br>
a boy who simply did not want to work in the fields. The<br>
boy was kicked and beaten with a club so badly liquid
other<br>
than blood ran from his skull. One eye exploded from
pressure.<br>
I almost did something then but was too young to do
anything.<br>
When I was a teenager of 12 I saw the leader who by now
was<br>
a fat bastard molest a girl I liked. He was starting to<br>
rape her as punishment for the mother's deed of not
contributing<br>
to the cult. I then picked up a sword and impaled him in
the<br>
back. This did not kill him but made him angry. I was
still<br>
naive and didn't see the daggers he had. He threw one
and<br>
hit my in my arm. He was a more skilled fighter as well
kicking<br>
the sword right out of my small hands. I then found a
large<br>
sword which took all my strength. I used it with sloppy
strokes<br>
that missed him as he laughed at me. But he did not see
the<br>
girl behind him who tripped him. I then impaled him in
the<br>
chest. I left with the girl and my mom out of the camp
with<br>
the leader's cronies fleeing after us. We weren't riders<br>
of horses then. We fled for hours with nothing but the
thin<br>
clothes on our backs. But we made a mistake and found a
small<br>
ravine which was a dead end. Four riders came at us and
it<br>
was surely our death. The girl screams for help was
ended<br>
though suddenly when arrows flew from the high rocks
above.<br>
A squad of Marentian archers were there firing on the
riders.<br>
Their aim was true and all were killed. I learned they<br>
were a military patrol. Days later the cult was taken by<br>
the military and the priests moved in to help the people.
The<br>
leader of this patrol would soon help me to join the
mlitary<br>
a year later. He was my teacher and superior officer for<br>
over a decade....I never told that story to anyone else<br>
before...it actually...feels good..."<br>
<br>
Kasha: "Some of you have been curious by this mace I
carry.<br>
The truth is its a magical one that is designed to kill<br>
guardians. The leader of the fighters-for-hire group I<br>
trained in had it and killed many guardians of lairs with
it.<br>
There is another truth. I so much wanted to kill Bertram<br>
on Clima. He was a wild one. But I never did. I always<br>
has wondered who. I suspected it was Chion? Was it
you?"<br>
[He looks at Chion and grins.]<br>
<br>
[As the sun sets camps are set. Ben'dar gets only Balrog<br>
and Thig to join him. Others can join him if they want<br>
but I don't speak for Chion, Jordi, Unali, Strie'bog and<br>
Z'leyra. :)]<br>
<br>
[The others stay with Cetric and that camp.]<br>
<br>
Next update Monday....<br>

<br>
A short update. Monday's update will be bigger. The morning<br>
