[Recap]<br>
<br>
From Ben'dar: [Re:
Actions]<br>
OOC: Is
Praelux a new player in the game?<br>
<br>
IC:<br>
Ben'Dar nods
approvingly at Praelux's fiery determination<br>
to seek revenge
and reclaim his honor.<br>
<br>
Ben'Dar introduces
himself to the village inhabitants,<br>
speaking in
Zen'Dali, of course. "I am Ben'Dar, of the<br>
Fel'oros tribe to
the west. Though I am not of your tribe,<br>
I am a fellow
Zen'Dan and am here to help my friend Sundancer<br>
and you. The
evil that attacked you here is a threat to all<br>
Zen'Da."<br>
<br>
He trades his
spear for a shovel and helps bury the dead,<br>
ignoring his
exhaustion. As he works, he takes an opportunity<br>
to help carry
bodies to the grave with Praelux. He says,<br>
"Your words
were bold back there.<br>
<br>
Your cousin is a
wise man. I have known him only a short time,<br>
but he has taught
me much." He gives the young man a wry grin<br>
and adds,
"Though sometimes I think him overly cautious... His<br>
counsel should not
be taken lightly." Then he pauses his work<br>
and gives Praelux
a long look, "Fear not, you will have your<br>
chance to avenge
your people.<br>
<br>
We all will ere
long. Whoever did this has no idea who he's<br>
dealing
with. He will die painfully, of that I have no doubt!"<br>
GM: Ack. No.
Praelux is not a PC. He was a planned thing<br>
though.<br>
<br>
---------------------------------<br>
<br>
From Strie'bog: [Re: Actions
and a Story]<br>
As the party comes
up to the injured villagers, he will start<br>
to play the
balalaika. (casting Sonata-Healing EL 1, effective<br>
EL 2 as it is a
sound effect). Everyone in area (radius 3, so<br>
he will make sure
he is standing by the injured warriors) heals<br>
1d3 +2. Not as
great as the Heal spell, but it affects everyone<br>
in the area of
effect with only one expenditure of mana.<br>
<br>
Looking to
Caladan, "I can use massage to strengthen their<br>
bodies, helping
them to heal faster. These are your people,<br>
you should help
give them rest. As I finish with the warriors,<br>
I will send them
to aid you. And as for the children, I think<br>
I can keep them
amused with songs and stories." (use eroticist<br>
skill on the
warriors).<br>
<br>
As people return,
Strie'bog looks toward the elder, "my I sing<br>
in memory of your
family?"<br>
<br>
[Song deleted for
space purposes.]<br>
<br>
Going back to the
Wisdom spell from earlier, does Strie'bog<br>
remember anything
about the burial rites of the Zen'da?<br>
<br>
Looking to Cetric,
"is there any ceremony we must observe<br>
for their
burial?"<br>
<br>
After the children
go to sleep, suspecting that the warriors<br>
of the village who
survived may be anxious and guilt ridden...<br>
<br>
[Story deleted for
space purposes.]<br>
<br>
(If asked about
the story, Strie'bog will tell people that<br>
the full
story takes three days to tell. That he only<br>
pulled out
the parts that he thought would help the warriors<br>
of the
village).<br>
GM: Ack. Great
story. Very creative stuff. Gotta wonder<br>
how ya do it
:). <br>
<br>

[New Stuff]<br>
<br>
Octaqi 19, in the 163rd Year
[TH]<br>
[Meanwhile somewhere on the
plains]<br>
Location: 38 miles south
of Caladan's village roughly<br>
Clan Nemat
Village<br>
Time: Roughly
9:15pm] [Day 49 of Trip]<br>
<br>
[After an almost an hour of
clearing debris and then preparing<br>
bodies for burial it
finally begins as the children fall<br>
to sleep. Based on
the scary wounds that seem to consist<br>
of bite wounds on faces,
neck and chest its decided not to<br>
scare the kids
further. They will learn the truth of the<br>
deaths in great detail
in the morning. Around 9pm when<br>
the temperature drops
down to the high 60s a large burial<br>
site is made. Half
dig while half haul bodies. Two<br>
of the adult female
survivors tend to the children while<br>
the other 3 help with
bodies. it is especially upsetting<br>
for them to find the
infant boy who was literally smothered<br>
to death by various bugs
and insects. They had literally<br>
crawled in the nose and
mouth. The other 16 kids who died<br>
from 2-19 are also
upsetting. the other 25 people are<br>
hauled and
buried.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "This is a major
loss to this village. Will they<br>
survive?"<br>
<br>
Cetric: "No. They
don't have enough male warriors and<br>
males who can tend
the village. Once we get back we<br>
will have to move
the survivors to other villages or<br>
our
own."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "I don't know
the details on their clan strife<br>
will that be an
issue?"<br>
<br>
Cetric: "I don't think
so. The elder survivor tells me<br>
another close clan
to them is to the north and north<br>
west about 100
miles. Maybe Gib'borah can try to<br>
move them
there."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Will they agree
to this move?"<br>
<br>
Cetric: "The adults will
soon learn the truth. Once<br>
winter settles in
they will need hunters. They<br>
will
understand."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Its so
sad. So senseless...why would the<br>
Bova attack
them?"<br>
<br>
Cetric: "Once word does
get back to Gib'borah he'll have<br>
warriors jumping
to help and attack. The plains could<br>
be on verge of a
small war. I've not recalled such<br>
a village attack
in this scale in over four generations.<br>
Most of them
occurred on the L'p'nth borders. Even<br>
the Ser'manda and
Bova don't just slaughter on this<br>
scale. They
raid what they need and only kill usually<br>
what they had
to."<br>
<br>
[Balrog looks to Farseeker
with tired eyes.]<br>
<br>
Balrog: "I feel
sick. I'm not used to this scale of<br>
death. How
can you be?"<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "In the
military we are trained to ignore death.<br>
On the battle
field if we see death around us we get<br>
distracted and a
distracted fighter is a dead one."<br>
<br>
Balrog: "The baby
smothered. The kids half were bit<br>
on the face and
half had their neck tore out. The<br>
teens at least
avoided bites but were stung or poisoned<br>
by insects or
snakes. For the adults their death is<br>
less
obvious. I'd even suspect some were both bit and<br>
poisoned while
others had heart issues."<br>
<br>
Farseeker:
"Yes..."<br>
<br>
[Praelux listens to Ben'dar
and looks back over his shoulder<br>
to Caladan.]<br>
<br>
Praelux: "I didn't even
know he was back on the plains.<br>
Course news
travels slow at times. This attack though<br>
that news will
travel fast like fire. Caladan is<br>
a good person but
doesn't tend to look to the future and<br>
only the
present."<br>
<br>
[He scratches his left ear as
he continues to walk back to<br>
get another body with
Ben'dar. Ben'dar notices he is<br>
rather nervous but it
may be the shock of the attack or<br>
that he did not
participate in those attacks. Ben'dar<br>
has at least 7 years of
age over Praelux so it could be<br>
lack of worldly
experience.]<br>
<br>
Praelux: "So your
friends? Who are they and what do they<br>
all do? They carry
odd things and dress oddly. that<br>
one that sings is
not normally found on the plains."<br>
<br>
[After the burial which ends
around 1am the party settles<br>
down and relaxes before
going to sleep. Since its<br>
so late at night no
words will be said tonight. In<br>
the morning at sunrise
it will be done.]<br>
<br>
[As the others haul bodies in
one side of the village near<br>
the campfire Strie'bog
groups the wounded around and<br>
sings a healing
sonata. Their wounds heal and they are<br>
amazed to see them
change before their eyes. One boy<br>
around 9 laughs at the
scrape on his hand seems to disappear.]<br>
<br>
[The warriors don't understand
what just occurred so no one<br>
thanks Strie'bog.
Most are still in shock though from<br>
the attack.
Strie'bog plays instruments and tells stories<br>
of wonder and battle for
the kids and survivors. This<br>
keeps them distracted
till about 9:30 when the adult females<br>
put them to sleep (the
children). The other survivors stay<br>
and decide to do village
chores or help with the bodies.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "They are not
used to massages but I'll explain<br>
what they are
intended for. In the A'giat tribe I<br>
understand their
lodge uses massages for the shaman<br>
to heal and they
are used to it."<br>
<br>
[One warrior is still pretty
hurt so Strie'bog gives him<br>
a healing massage.
Something he has learned in the past<br>
and something he semi
learned from Z'leyra. The oils soak<br>
the wounded shoulder and
help the warrior to heal in a day<br>
or two to full
strength.]<br>
<br>
[The elder nods at Strie'bog's
request for a story.]<br>
<br>
[As Strie'bog formulates a
story he goes back to the spell<br>
he casted the other
night and was thrown into a longer<br>
trance. He
searches his memories. As he does a image<br>
flashes to his
mind. Then another one. Suddenly a flood<br>
of images hit the
brain. His eyes close as his jaw<br>
clench. As quickly
as it came it ends. Brain cells<br>
form into a network of
memories and Strie'bog recalls.<br>
<br>
This attack was not the
only one. There was another<br>
attack. Some many
generations ago. The time when the<br>
strangers invaded the
plains. In that case flocks of<br>
birds, snakes, wolves
and even horses attacked one<br>
village to slaughter
them all. Swath forms on his forehead<br>
as he recalls...but
hopes to forget...images of villagers<br>
killed by animals just
as this village. Why would he<br>
have this information?
but history has repeated itself<br>
here. As he wipes
the sweat he hopes to stop history from<br>
repeating it after
tonight.]<br>
<br>
[Strie'bog asks Cetric about
burial rites. Both get<br>
with the Elder.
The elder explains some basic rites.<br>
The main rite comes with
the kids. The infant will<br>
have to be buried in a
white cloth and given prayers to<br>
help it to the next
life. The cloth represents innocence<br>
to the gods so they
treat the infant with care. For<br>
the kids they will have
to be given other special rites<br>
to show they have not
been initiated into various levels<br>
of life (rites of
passage) so that the gods can tell where<br>
the kids need to go in
the afterlife. The adults can<br>
be simply buried with
little fanfare. This information is<br>
relayed to the others
and performed in detail.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Where's the
village shaman?"<br>
<br>
Jubil [The elder]: "We
have none."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "Its common for
many villages not to have some."<br>
<br>
[The party is surprised to see
a softer side of Cetric<br>
as he helps to perform
some of the burial rites and<br>
prayers. As the
kids and infant is buried even tears are<br>
seen. That in
itself is unusual as most men on the plains<br>
show little softer
emotions in the public.]<br>
<br>
[Later as Strie'bog tells his
story to the warriors they<br>
listen intently.
At one point one warrior almost speaks<br>
but does not. His
fists clench but then unclench when<br>
Strie'bog nears the end
of his story. At the end the<br>
same warrior who wasn't
hurt in the attack stands and<br>
walks off. Before
he does he turns..]<br>
<br>
Warrior: "You speak of
justice...of revenge...of life<br>
and of peace...yet
...the gods hate us! They send<br>
nature itself
against us! We can't fight nature or<br>
the gods. We
are doomed and cursed!"<br>
<br>
[Strie'bog starts to speak and
head after him but Cetric<br>
stops him.]<br>
<br>
Cetric: "Let him
go. He'll have to get over the shock<br>
first. Once
he does he'll begin to get angry. Then<br>
sad. Then
he'll reason it out. It'll take time. The<br>
others liked your
story and understood it. I enjoyed<br>
it very much
myself."<br>
<br>
-------------------<br>
<br>
[Meanwhile on the plains
Z'leyra continues her walk with<br>
Kasha and Thig.]<br>
<br>
Kasha: "Thig. Can
you fly out and see if they are all<br>
right?"<br>
<br>
Thig: "Not track with my
eyes at the same time. There<br>
is one
alternative. I can contact Jordi. The helmet<br>
I made for his
wedding. i can contact and with it<br>
assuming he is
wearing it talk to him. I made it<br>
so I can contact
the helmet with better chance of<br>
success."<br>
<br>
[Thig murmurs a few words then
a few minutes pass.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "There was an
attack. Many were dead when they<br>
got there. I
sense no danger from Jordi. Only<br>
stress and
tension. They are safe. They'll fill<br>
in the details
when we group up."<br>
<br>
[By now the contact was made
at 4 miles out but Thig<br>
could do that with
ease.]<br>
<br>
[As Z'leyra is going in the
direction of the thief she<br>
does not tire. But
its clear Kasha is starting to wear<br>
out as well as his
horse. Thig sleeps during the day<br>
but even his wings get
heavy after hours of flight.<br>
Z'leyra holds her staff
and buckler at the ready as if<br>
going to battle but
nothing may be around for miles. She<br>
considers that she
herself may not tire while under the<br>
spell but her boots are
being overused in the last few<br>
days. She will
have to check them at sunrise for wear<br>
and tear. They may
be magical boots but they could still<br>
suffer from this
marathon walking of 40+ miles in the last<br>
few days. At the
very least they may be smelly.]<br>
<br>
[Around 2am as the temperature
maintains in the lower 70s<br>
not so hot and not so
cool Z'leyra is trekking along. Thig<br>
is far ahead about 50
feet and Kasha is following behind<br>
Z'leyra about 10 feet as
best as one can follow in only<br>
star light as the moon
is not at. Suddenly something<br>
taps Z'leyra's left arm
where her buckler is. She stops<br>
and hears a hiss.
She sees nothing but another tap as<br>
the buckler moves back a
bit. There! Something...a<br>
stripe? Its so
faint...she realizes its a snake. Kasha<br>
notices the stop and
yellls for Thig. Thig flies over<br>
and tells Z'leyra its a
snake. A deadly one. Thig must've<br>
missed it. If it
weren't for her shield she would've been<br>
bit. Thig directs
her to use slow careful movements and<br>
push the snake away with
her staff. As she does Z'leyra<br>
backs up and Thig
notices the snake slither away.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "Sorry. Even
my night vision can miss things. It<br>
must've been under
that bush. It was deadly but it<br>
was probably
scared more of you than wanting to hurt you."<br>

villagers are grateful. Vlad says goodbye to<br>
Cetric as he stays to

<br>
[The party sets out.
Close to noon the party stops and<br>
eats a quick lunch
prepared by the village females.]<br>
<br>
Balrog: "Only 18
survivors."<br>
<br>
Farseeker:
"Huh?"<br>
<br>
Balrog: "Half of their
village wiped out in just hours. Its<br>
sad. I never
intended to be a traveler like this. I<br>
always figured I'd
be in the city going from one job to<br>
another. I
don't know if I can continue this if we<br>
survive this last
few days."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "There's
nothing wrong with that. Some are city<br>
goers and others
are made to travel great distances. There<br>
should not be a
problem if you went back to Marentia."<br>
<br>
Balrog: "Yeah.
Well. I just hope I don't disappoint anyone<br>
like
Caladan."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "Talk to
him. I'm sure he'll understand."<br>
<br>
[Balrog nods.]<br>
<br>
[As they talk Cetric and
Caladan start up a conversation<br>
alone as the others
divide up into groups.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Promise me one
thing Cetric. If some of my<br>
friends don't make
it through this you'll use your<br>
ability to help
them?"<br>
<br>
Cetric: "They don't trust
me. I don't blame them. But<br>
even with my truth
talk they still don't trust me.<br>
You know what
trust can do in a battle. Cause conflicts<br>
and
distraction. I was hoping they would change their<br>
views but I guess
not. As to saving them if they allow<br>
it or need it I
will do so. But you know the costs the<br>
spirits
demand."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "Ben'dar is the
main one that doesn't seem to<br>
trust you.
Course that confrontation at the wolf site<br>
didn't help
matters. Some of their have soften their<br>
views. I do
know of the cost. But being alive is a<br>
better
alternative. Even if the body is weakened."<br>
<br>
[The party continues
onward. After 2.5 hours the party<br>
catches up to
Z'leyra. Its now about 2:15pm. A bit<br>
of increase in distance
made by the party over the<br>
trackers this
time. The party continues onward with<br>
Thig sleeping on his
horse, Kasha on his horse and z'leyra<br>
now on her horse.
Tales are exchanged and Z'leyra and<br>
the others learn of the
attack.]<br>
<br>
[Lodd suggests we change
course a bit and go east a bit<br>
toward the area Clan
Laru is. So the party can check<br>
on them. After 2.5
hours more around 5pm a village is<br>
spotted in the
distance. Lodd suggests its Clan Laru<br>
the nomad clan. No
smoke is seen as the party nears the<br>
village. As the
party gets within 50 feet in fact no<br>
one is seen. The
party enters cautiously.]<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "Where is
everyone?"<br>
<br>
[The party spreads out and
looks around. There are only<br>
about 4 large
Tipis. Most nomads carry little supplies<br>
so live outdoors
mostly. Cautiously Tipis are searched<br>
and no one is
found.]<br>
<br>
Balrog: "Could they have
left and coming back later?"<br>
<br>
Lodd: "No. Even a
female or two would stay here with the<br>
children if they
went off on the hunt."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "How many in
this clan?"<br>
<br>
Lodd: "Not sure but I'd
say four or five families. Maybe<br>
20-25 as large as
30?"<br>
<br>
Thig: "Found
something. Look here."<br>
<br>
[Thig points to tracks in the
sands that lead from one Tipi.<br>
They are very tiny
tracks.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "Looks like bug
tracks. There!" [He points to a few<br>
dead blue
insects]<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "Same bugs we
saw killed in the other village.<br>
But not in great
numbers. What does this mean?"<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Search again
lookf or more of these tracks."<br>
<br>
[15 minutes later the party
regroups and its learned each<br>
Tipi has trails that
lead under the Tipi and enters into<br>
it. As if the bugs
entered and but its unclear if they<br>
exited. There is
no sign of struggle or blood. In fact<br>
a cold dinner bowl is
found with food that must've been<br>
set a day before as its
still not decayed. On closer<br>
inspection its learned
that things have fallen down or<br>
knocked over. A
big wind storm must've hit here last<br>
night. Which is
common on the plains. Unfournately<br>
this means tracks will
be hard to find. After awhile<br>
though some tracks maybe
a dozen or so? Including horses<br>
seem to lead to the
south but much of the tracks is<br>
distorted by the
wind.]<br>
<br>
Cetric: "They left to the
south? I don't understand unless<br>
they were taken
prisoner but even then we'd have found<br>
many horse
tracks. How far is the border?"<br>
<br>
Lodd: "At least 5-10
maybe 12 miles south."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "How far is the
thief?"<br>
<br>
[Z'leyra replies it is 22
miles almost due south. In fact<br>
Z'leyra has noticed the
Thief hasn't moved in over a day.]<br>
<br>
[Praelux shifts in his saddle
eager to leave.]<br>
<br>
Praelux: "This is
spooky. Let's go. Place must be cursed."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "There is
nothing here we can do. We might as<br>
well
continue. We still got at least a full hour before<br>
night."<br>
<br>
[The party continues south
until the sun is almost gone.<br>
The party dickers on
making camp or continuing. Z'leyra<br>
is still compelled to
move though.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Z'leyra if you
continue you could cross the border<br>
around sunrise or
even before. You'd be in enemy<br>
territory.
At least foreign territory if not enemy.<br>
Could you go as
slow or even stop the tracking spell until<br>
we can join
you?"<br>
<br>
Thig: "I personally have
flown all night for two nights.<br>
I'm getting aches
from it. Maybe jordi can guide?"<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "Based on
Lodd's comments though we could<br>
encounter the
Thief by nightfall or close to it<br>
tomorrow
night. A night battle is bad. We can push<br>
our travel a bit
and get there before. But whoever<br>
goes with Z'leyra
will be more tired if there is a battle.<br>
They should
consider this."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "That snake
attack last night Kasha tells us about<br>
was an example of
the night dangers. But as we continue<br>
south there will
be more human dangers."<br>
<br>
Next update Friday.....<br>
<br>
Actions? Comments?<br>
<br>
Z'leyra do you continue for another night of
travel? If so<br>
who wishes to risk being tired in combat and go
with Z'leyra?<br>
On friday Day 51. Another day of Mana
regeneration for those<br>
who need it. Then depending on the math
and time of the day<br>
the thief will be seen. At that point
decisions will need to<br>
be made for combat or other purposes. This
is the last few<br>
chances to do actions before things get
crazy. Retro or<br>
present or future actions. Let me
know!<br>
<br>
I sped things up in the Laru village. I
could've gone into<br>
great detail. But on one hand there is a
reason I'm not.<br>
On the other hand it helps to speed things
up. Its up to you<br>
guys to figure things out and we can go on retro
actions if<br>
need be. Last chance for Jordi/Unali to
get some actions in.<br>
If combat happens will do best based on past
actions but will<br>
not cast magic for Jordi.<br>
<br>
Map on website is updated. The Gray spot
is Clan Laru's empty<br>
village. Its kinda hard to see but if you
have a good zoom<br>
function in your browser then it should be ok to
view.<br>
