[Recap]<br>
<br>
From Ben'dar: [Re:
Actions]<br>
Ben'Dar nods at
Thig's suggestion and queries, "Can you make<br>
yourself unseen
before you move yourself to his position? No<br>
sense in letting
him know we are about to attack if it can be<br>
helped."<br>
<br>
Ben'Dar suggests
to the group, "There are several members of<br>
our group who have
skill in stealth and ambush in the dark.<br>
Perhaps those
individuals should go ahead and get near to the<br>
the thief's
position, then sneak in and take him out without<br>
much of a
fight." Ben'Dar looks reluctant to suggest this,<br>
clearly wanting to
join in the battle, but he continues, "We<br>
do not know how
much control the claw might have over our<br>
horses if we all
charge in."<br>
GM: Ack. <br>
<br>
------------------------------------<br>
<br>
From Strie'bog: [Re:
Actions]<br>
"Hold
friends. I have remembered more from what the Gods<br>
showed
me. The ones who first weilded the claw were strange<br>
tattooed
people. I do not know who they were, but they were<br>
not from the
plains. The Zen'da who fought them circled<br>
around
trying to find the limit of the Claw's power. They<br>
kept
attacking and circling, I don't know how many died, but<br>
they would
retreat and then advance. In doing this though,<br>
they found
that the power of the claw could extend to almost<br>
a half mile,
maybe a third of a mile."<br>
<br>
Looking at
Ben'Dar, "I believe the horses will fall to the<br>
power of the
claw as we approach. I am not sure, as there<br>
were so many
animals attacking, but the horses did not<br>
always obey
when they came within the reach of the claw's<br>
power.
As I mentioned, my songs may soothe the animals near<br>
us, but then
the horses would be worthless in battle."<br>
<br>
"I say
we leave the horses back, and if possible attack from<br>
a
distance. I know that we have good bowmen and powerful<br>
magics
to help us. The other option is to try to get in to<br>
the
thief's camp and take the claw without being noticed,<br>
but if
he has gathered animals, they could sniff out any<br>
one
unseen. And as for a night attack, many animals are<br>
unhindered by darkness. Most of us are."<br>
<br>
"One of
the gifts of my mother is the power to translocate<br>
people. While I am not greatly skilled at it, I could try<br>
to
move a group in close to the theif. Chion, this would<br>
leave
you with power to fight and return those who go.<br>
Before
then, I could ask for a vision from the Gods to<br>
locate
the theif's exact position for the translocation."<br>
GM: Ack. <br>
<br>
------------------------------------<br>
<br>
From Ben'dar: [Re: More
actions]<br>
Ben'Dar puts a
hand on Z'leyra's shoulder as the makeshift<br>
camp is being set
up. He grins in the darkness, "Well<br>
done. Your
tracking skill...that's some useful magic! I<br>
wish I could do
it. I don't suppose you could make some<br>
sort of item, not
now of course but after this is all over,<br>
that would allow
the holder to track something as you have<br>
just
done?"<br>
<br>
"Ben'Dar nods
thoughtfully at Strie'bog's words. "Then we<br>
must leave
the horses behind. We can move in on foot until<br>
we are close
enough to see the camp but still remain out<br>
of range of
the claw's magic. Then, how many warriors could<br>
you move in
with your magic? If you can move enough of us<br>
into the
midst of the thief's camp, the battle will be<br>
over
quickly."<br>
<br>
Ben'Dar's eyes
flash with excitement and he looks around at<br>
the faces of his
friends until his eyes meet Cetric's. He<br>
glares at Cetric
and says hotly, "For once you and I agree,<br>
Deceiver.
Vengeance of the Zen'Da will be swift and brutal<br>
this day.
None will survive our attack!"<br>
<br>
Once the party has
received Thig's recon report, his plans<br>
may change, but
his tentative actions are: Ben'Dar will<br>
lead Tef'wo to the
point where they can see signs of the<br>
enemy's
camp. He will rely on the night vision of Thig and<br>
Jordi to help with
this. He will take Tef'wo no closer than<br>
about a mile away
from where he thinks the claw is. From<br>
there, he will
leave Tef'wo behind and will ask Strie'bog<br>
to be teleported
into the camp where he will attack the<br>
claw-bearer and
any of his minions with his magic pike.<br>
GM: Ack. <br>
<br>
From Z'leyra: [Re:
Actions]<br>
Z'leyra will talk
with Corona and the horses about waiting<br>
while those who
won't be affected by the Claw's magic<br>
confront the
graverobber. She will be relying on her amber<br>
to see in the
dark. Though she has the buckler and staff in<br>
hand she will not
use the staff for combat, just for casting<br>
spells through. In
combat she will draw and use her dagger<br>
(sheathing her
staff across her back if she has time).<br>
<br>
If the situation
is good for it (get close without being<br>
observed) she may
be able to loan the amber to someone and<br>
cast Darksight on
herself and three others just before the<br>
combat.<br>
<br>
After musing about
casting Darksight on folks Z'leyra<br>
corrects herself
"Nope, bad idea. Using the drum so as to<br>
be able to cast
the spell would warn our enemy."<br>
<br>
She will have to
rely on spells and skills that are more<br>
silent.<br>

[Two days later after
Chion leaves the castle...<br>
the scene is set
in a dark room with black candles and<br>
low flames.
A cowled figure stands in one corner of<br>
the room in the
shadows. The female Chion met is<br>
in the room with
two other young females.]<br>
<br>
Male: "Is
everything set?"<br>
<br>
Female: "Yes my
lord. We should have reports on the results<br>
within a day
or two."<br>
<br>
Male:
"Excellent. Nothing will stop us this time. Our<br>
intruder?"<br>
<br>
Female: "We have
spies looking into him in Katai."<br>
<br>
Male: "Fool.
He could be from anywhere. Check in<br>
Marentia and
Ba'ru as well."<br>
<br>
Female: "Yes my

[The male turns to one

<br>
Male: "Prepare the

<br>
[The female turns and
motions for the two other females who<br>
are in long gowns
to move forward. One disrobes and climbs<br>

Octaqi 20, in the 163rd Year
[TH]<br>
[Meanwhile somewhere on the
plains]<br>
Time: Roughly
8:45pm] [Day 50 of Trip]<br>
Location: Caladan's
Village<br>
<br>
[As the party settles in for
their camp and discuss plans<br>
of attack to the enemy
village back in Caladan's village<br>
the War Council ends
abruptly. Arguments flew back and<br>
forth between the Shas,
Gib'borah,the village elders<br>
and invited
elders. Many wish war while others seek to<br>
wait on results of the
party and more investigation. A<br>
clear deadlock
occurs. Xian and Trembyl listen for<br>
hours as the council
goes on. It continues for almost<br>
24 hours (but not
straight through) until this evening.]<br>
<br>
[Xian and Trembyl were invited
inside but are asked to remain<br>
quiet. But they can
still whisper.]<br>
<br>
Xian: "I don't like that chief
there with the red braid."<br>
Trembyl: "I believe his name
was Noseb. Earlier today<br>
a warrior mentions he
has about 85 warriors just in his<br>
village and one of the
biggest lodges. Why do you not<br>
like him?"<br>
<br>
Xian: "A trouble maker.
He's always nervous shifting and<br>
moving about. His
eyes ever shifting. Like he is<br>
paranoid."<br>
<br>
Trembyl: "Being a chief can
lead to that."<br>
<br>
[Noseb though storms out with
another village Sha (Chief).<br>
Noseb separates and joins his
escort warriors for sleep.<br>
The council is ended for the
night and Xian and Trembyl<br>
head back to their sleeping
area. Gib'borah and the<br>
others also head for
sleep. Some warriors of other<br>
villages mingle and tell
stories and the like. Gidwani<br>
decides to stay with Xian and
Trembyl and hear stories<br>
of his younger brother
Caladan....]<br>

<br>
Octaqi 21, in the 163rd Year
[TH]<br>
[Meanwhile somewhere on the
plains]<br>
[Day 51 of Trip] [3
Miles near the Enemy Village]<br>
Time: Roughly 10pm<br>
<br>
[Thig listens to Ben'dar and
answers.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "Yes I can do
that. The only problem is my wings make<br>
noise. But I
have figured out ways to at least soften<br>
them. My
mind spell works up to 30 feet. So I have to<br>
be at least 30
feet above the village to detect the minds."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "Getting close
by stealth is indeed the best<br>
option. But
again we don't know if the thief even<br>
still has the
claw. For all we know the claw is miles<br>
and miles from
here. The spell Z'leyra has active only<br>
tracks the thief
not the claw if I understand it right.<br>
Therefore killing
only the thief will not solve all our<br>
problems.
Our goal is the claw. It may mean taking<br>
on the whole
village."<br>
<br>
[Everyone hears Strie'bog
explain the Claw's range and<br>
hear his tactics.]<br>
<br>
Balrog: "So two miles we
are safe here witht he horses unless<br>
he comes at
us."<br>
<br>
[Thig walks over to Ben'dar
but Ben'dar doesn't see him in<br>
the pitch darkness until
he speaks.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "Tef'wo is a unique
beast. He is a fast horse and<br>
this necklace he
wears I sense magic from it. But not<br>
from the horse
itself. I wonder if he could withstand<br>
the power of the
horses. Even if we decide to take the<br>
horses Z'leyra
could talk to them before hand. But<br>
I'm wasting time
here. I shall go check out the village.<br>
It shouldn't take
me more than ten minutes. If I'm gone<br>
more than that
then worry."<br>
<br>
GM: Since at this point no one
has argued against Thig's recon<br>
he takes to the
sky and is lost among the clouds and stars.<br>
Once he is up
about a mile he starts some spells. He<br>
prepares his wings
to muffle the noise as best he can and<br>
then teleports to
over the enemy village the biggest light<br>
which must be the
campfire. He dives down quickly and times<br>
his speed to cast
the last of his spells. He flies back<br>
and forth in a
grid like fashion over the village and tries<br>
to memorize things
in the village....]<br>
<br>
Balrog: "If he returns
how can we see a map of the place.<br>
He could describe
it but that's hard."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "A general
once told me of this trick. Here..."<br>
<br>
[He has a 2 man tend setup and
positioned with Jordi's eyes.<br>
He then asks that blanks
cover it but reinforces it with<br>
more and more tent
poles. He then crawls in and places<br>
a candle. He uses
more blankets to cover the candle in<br>
a half circle only
leaving a portion of it so it is<br>
not seen from one
angle. He then crawls back out.]<br>
<br>
Farseeker: 'We light it and
then cover the entrance.<br>
The blankets cover
any light and we are still so far<br>
out even if the
candle was in the open it would be<br>
very hard to
spot."<br>
<br>
[Four minutes pass....then
5....then 6....then suddenly<br>
and without warning Thig
flies down and rejoins the<br>
group.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "I'm back.
But its not good. There are many many<br>
people
there."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "Enter the
tent and draw a map from your<br>
memory."<br>
<br>
Kasha: "Wait first how
many?"<br>
<br>
Thig: "My spell detected
75-80."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "What?! A
full village?"<br>
<br>
Lodd: "The village is not
for another 7-8 miles from here<br>
this has to be a
camp."<br>
<br>
Thig: "It does look like a
short term camp with a few Tipis.<br>
Most of them at least
half seem to be just clumped up.<br>
I suspect the way they
were acting they were folks from<br>
the village we found
empty."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "So then at least 40
for us? So 40 to 15<br>
sounds about our
odds."<br>
<br>
[Thig enters the tent and lights the
candle and draws on<br>
the map.]<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "Three to one isn't
so rough. Back in Cl--<br>
The fort we recently
were in we dealt with ten to 1."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Yesh and you almost
died."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "Should we go and get
more warriors?"<br>
<br>
Caladan: "We should be able to
handle it. We have<br>
surprise in our
favor."<br>
<br>
[After about 20 minutes Thig
finishes his map and the first<br>
few enter (2 at a time) to
view the map as he describes<br>
the camp.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "There are 4 Tipis, 1
large tent and about 10 other<br>
smaller tents.
Many are inside those. There is a large<br>
what looks like a fastly
made corral for horses. BUt<br>
it also had a cow and a
goat."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "To feed that many
they may need milk and may have<br>
stolen the
animals."<br>
<br>
Thig: "Based on the corral wood
which isn't too sturdy it<br>
looks like a quickly
made camp. It may not be there<br>
for too long.
There are many horses. There are<br>
20-25 horses in the
corral and maybe 2 dozen horses around<br>
the camp. I didn't
have time to count them as I was<br>
counting the
humans. There were also guard dogs and<br>
sentries in every point
just about."<br>
<br>
Kasha: "Well we know why now he
hasn't moved in days. He<br>
feels safe where he
is."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "So what's our
plans?"<br>
<br>
Balrog: "A stealth
approach. Sneak in attack and try to<br>
do as much damage then
retreat. Based on the numbers<br>
we might be able to
handle a 3rd of them."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "My plans have changed
due to the claw. I<br>
think a combined group
frontal assault is best."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "No. We need a
distraction. Divide and conquer<br>
their forces. Some
attack in one area and draw some out<br>
while other sttack in
another area."<br>
<br>
Kasha: "I agree. The
corral seems a weak point. If we sneak<br>
to it and then get the
horses out they could lose maybe<br>
half of their
horses. This would cause confusion."<br>
<br>
Thig: "I can help with aerial
attacks with Corona."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Cetric?"<br>
<br>
Thig: "He's in the tent looking
at the map."<br>

[Day 50 of Trip]<br>
Location: Caladan's
Village<br>
<br>
[Meanwhile back in Caladan's village
roughly the same time.<br>
As the camp settles down into
sleep. Trembyl begins to<br>
snore but Xian is still awake
and watching the camp near<br>
the campfire. All around
he notices movement as people<br>
move from one place to
another. Xian notices to his<br>
right the visiting chiefs are
gathered with their warriors.<br>
All have setup a small Tipi
for each chief. To the<br>
left the village Tipis are
quiet and dark. This night<br>
a warrior stands guard over
Gib'borah's tent. Xian learns<br>
this is a normal thing when
visiting chiefs come to show<br>
their power but Trembyl thinks
otherwise. Xian decides<br>
to lay down and get some
sleep.]<br>
<br>
[A bark wakes Xian. Xian is
restless and sits up to see<br>
a family dog bark once at
nothing. Xian decides to<br>
lay back down when he sees a
shadow. Xian squints to<br>
get a better view. The
shadow seems to be moving on the<br>
outside of the village near
the back of the Tipis. Then<br>
a noise is heard to the
right. He recognizes Gidwani<br>
exit on Tipi and head toward
the other side of the village.<br>
But he is stopped by a
warrior. Gidwani shakes his head<br>
but then a hand goes to his
chest. Words are heard but<br>
not understood at this
distance.]<br>
<br>
[Xian nudges Trembyl.]<br>
<br>
Xian: "Wake up!"<br>
<br>
Trembyl: "Huh?"<br>
<br>
Xian: "Something is going
on. Look."<br>
<br>
Trembyl: "So?"<br>
<br>
Xian: "Look like an argument
and then--.." [he looks back<br>
to the Tipi of Gib'borah
and notices something] "..the<br>
guard is gone.."
[Xian stands and grabs his staff.]<br>
<br>
Xian: "Follow Gidwani that
way. Hurry!"<br>
<br>
Trembyl: "What? All
right. All right..." [he grabs his<br>
own war staff.]<br>
<br>
[Xian runs toward the Tipi and finds
the guard lying down<br>
on the ground and checks
him. Knocked out. He hears<br>
shuffling inside the Tipi and
rounds the corner and<br>
rushes in.]<br>
<br>
-----------------------<br>
<br>
[Meanwhile back at the player's
camp...]<br>
<br>
[Caladan enters the tent where Cetric is
and sees he is<br>
reading the map. The flap
closes down from the weight of<br>
the blankets on it to hide the light
of the candle.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "We are forming plans come
on out."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "There is too many and they
are in danger..."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "What?" [Cetric glances
up and then back down.]<br>
"Why are you
sweating?"<br>
<br>
Cetric: "I don't...want..."
[With hands that are so fast<br>
its hard to see he throws the
map scroll down and grabs<br>
Caladan's head and pulls him
forward. With another hand<br>
he draws a dagger] "..to
do...this.."<br>
<br>
[Caladan finds himself in the lap of
Cetric with a dagger<br>
straight at his throat one
inch from death.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "What are you doing?
We are allies..."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "I can't help it
Sundancer...kill me...or<br>
NO!" [At that those
outside hear the word NO] "..tell<br>
them to surrender its our only
chance..."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Are you insane?"<br>
<br>
[Cetric's left hand shakes as he holds the
dagger. Cetric's<br>
right hand scratches his right ear
and that's when Caladan<br>
acts. With his knee he knocks the
candle over and it hits<br>
the sand going out. The tent
floods blackness. With his<br>
left hand he grabs the dagger hand
and holds on for dear<br>
life. With his right hand he
grabs his staff and with one<br>
hand thrusts it at the last position
of Cetric's face. A<br>
crack is heard and Cetric goes
backwards. Caladan rolls and<br>
the tent falls. Outside others
come to help. Kasha, Farseeker<br>
and Balrog grab Cetric and hold
him. As others help Caladan<br>
up.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Don't hurt him!"<br>
<br>
[Jordi raises a sword to Cetric's warriors to
stop as they<br>
move toward the group. Others dwaw
weapons. The warriors<br>
are unsure of what to do so stand guard
waiting for Caladan.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "Something is wrong. I don't
think hes acting normal."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "Really? How long do ou
figure since the tests?"<br>
[A draw of sarcasm.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "He didn't want to attack
me. I honestly believe him."<br>
<br>
Cetric: "You can't fight it! Kill
me."<br>
<br>
[Ben'dar grins and draws his spear happy to
oblige but Caladan<br>
stops him.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "No. Thig. Examine him
please."<br>
<br>
[Thig looks at Cetric's chest and body as the
others hold him.<br>
Thig notices Cetric is sweating greatly
and his body odor<br>
has changed a bit.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "Nothing unusual."<br>
<br>
Caladan: "His head please."<br>
<br>
[Thig inspects his hair and eyes and nose.
A bruise is where<br>
the tip of the staff hit the nose.
Thig examines one ear<br>
then the other and he steps back.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "What the?"<br>
<br>
[He closes on the right ear and moves the ear
slightly.]<br>
<br>
Thig: "Its a rash...no..one of those
bugs! It has somehow<br>
attached itself to the head below
the flap of the ear."<br>
<br>
[Suddenly some in the party get a flash of
memory...<br>
The Ser'manda warriors who attacked the
party early on. One<br>
they killed had insects on them.
Another flash...Kasha<br>
mentioned he saw insects fall out of the
large ears of<br>
Grog the Giant.]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "These isnects may affect body
control."<br>
<br>
Kasha: "Cetric was bite by one he said when
he buried the<br>
wolves. But wait...so was
Strie'bog and ...ben'dar."<br>
<br>
[Farseeker looks at Ben'dar and wonders about
him.]<br>
<br>
Balrog: "No. Strie'bog was able to flick
the bugs off due<br>
to his robes. He was never
bit. That I recall."<br>
<br>
Thig: "Bug if Ben'dar made the skin then he could
be."<br>
<br>
Corr: "Those bugs were all over the wolves
right? So they<br>
must've helped the animals fight you since
they would not<br>
normally do that. The claw could've
added to that effect."<br>
<br>
[As the others talk Thig looks around the camp and
checks..]<br>
<br>
Thig: "We've got another problem. We are
missing someone."<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "Who?"<br>
<br>
Thig: "Praelux gone with his horse."<br>
<br>
[Ben'dar recalls that Praelux was nervous and
scratching his<br>
ears?]<br>
<br>
Caladan: "We need to remove the bug Cetric.
Z'leyra can you<br>
do this?"<br>
<br>
Farseeker: "You still trust him?"<br>
<br>
Caladan: "I do. i suspect there is
something behind the bugs<br>
that may be altering him. I believe
the claw may have<br>
affected the bugs. The bugs then
implant suggestions. Those<br>
suggestions are to keep the claw
safe. When he saw the<br>
map he felt the claw was in danger.
He didn't want to attack<br>
me but he was losing control."<br>
<br>
----------------------<br>
<br>
[Meanwhile back at Caladan's village.]<br>
<br>
[Xian enters the Tipi and sees a person sneaking over
toward<br>
Gib'borah. ]<br>
<br>
Xian: "Stop!"<br>
<br>
[The man stops startled and looks over to Xian but the
Tipi<br>
is dark. Only the light gray of clouds are
seen from the<br>
top smoke hole. Xian sees a glint of
steel. Xian rushes<br>
the man. At the same time Gib'borah wakes
up and all 3<br>
entangle and wrestle for control. Suddenly
steel hits<br>
flesh as a blood spurt is heard and a
grunt...]<br>
<br>
[Outside Trembyl chases toward Gidwani. Some of
the warrior<br>
escorts see him coming and fear he will attack
their chiefs<br>
so rush forward. Gidwani turns and
stops.]<br>
<br>
Trembyl: "Gidwani are you ok?"<br>
<br>
Gidwani: "Yes. Why?"<br>
<br>
Trembyl: "Are you being forced?"<br>
<br>
Gidwani: "What's the meaning of this?"<br>
<br>
[Suddenly a scream is heard from the other side of the
village]<br>
<br>
Female: "We need help!"<br>
<br>
[Gidwani and Trembyl and a few others rush toward
Gib'borah's<br>
tipi. As they near two men exit and
stand.]<br>
<br>
Gidwani: "Father?"<br>
<br>
Trembyl: "Xian? What's wrong?"<br>
<br>
Xian: "A man inside tried to kill
Gib'borah."<br>
<br>
Gib'borah: "I was able to stop him. I'm not
so old as to<br>
defend myself still."<br>
<br>
[Several warriors enter the Tipi and drag out the
chief Xian<br>
saw arguing in the lodge.]<br>
<br>
Gidwani: "Why would he? Warriors
here!"<br>
<br>
[Warriors surrend the group and some surround the
Chief's<br>
escort warriors.]<br>
<br>
[The night continues as questions are asked...]<br>
<br>
Next update Monday....<br>
<br>
Actions? Comments?<br>
<br>
You guys like the Castle and other scenes?
:) This may not<br>
be a movie or book but its always fun to see
what else may<br>
be going on. It could be fluff or a red
herring or clues :)<br>
<br>
So planf or attack so far:<br>
<br>
* Frontal Assault<br>
* Stealth and sneak attack<br>
* Attack from a distance<br>
<br>
Horses in combat:<br>
* Leave Horses<br>
* Take horses<br>
<br>
If the vote comes to leave the horse i need to know
what you<br>
carry and what you take. In the
supplement i posted the<br>
stuff I figure folks will take
(armor/weapons). But if<br>
there are other things let me know.
I will assume magical<br>
stuff (amulets, rings, etc.) will be
taken. But I need<br>
to know what is taken and not taken
specifically if able.<br>

[Position Chart/People/Horses]<br>
<br>
Top of the map is North. This is where the
party is located 3<br>
miles north. Coming from top of the
map.<br>
<br>
I don't have positions of people posted at this
time. The<br>
main reason is i don't know the TIME of the
attack. Will<br>
the party wait for now or for a few hours when
they<br>
are asleep? So positions would change and
tons of folks<br>
would have to be re-moved. Suffice it to
say 98% of the<br>
people are within the square borders of the
village.<br>
Near each Tipi are the sentries in 3 man
groups. More details<br>
can be given in next update.<br>
<br>
I will post the maps on the website over the weekend
this<br>
hex map above and will have it updated. Just
wanted to<br>
get this update out first.<br>
