[Recap]

From Ben'dar: [Re:
Actions]
OOC: Cool
story flashes to the castle!

During the
battle-strategy discussion, Ben'Dar nods as each
plan is
mentioned. He adds, "With the element of surprise,
we can do much to
weaken their greater numbers. Our
spellcasters and
archers can approach from the North and
wait for the
signal. Balrog and I will approach from the
East and enter the
corral. The rest of our warriors can
move past the
corral and to the south of the camp and wait
for the
signal. Balrog and I will give the signal: Balrog
is skilled in
stealth and may be able to remove both of the
corral gates
without being noticed. Meanwhile, I will use
my wolf headdress
and my knowledge of horses to whip the
horses up into a
frenzy and send them stampeding out of the
corral and through
the camp. When the horses stampede, the
archers and
spellcasters can unleash a fiery attack from
afar on the tents
and tipis of the camp to add to the
confusion.
At that point, our enemies will be easy
pickings for us to
take down from North, East, and South."

He glances at Thig
and says, "Tef'wo is a special horse and
he probably would
resist the magic of the claw...but I do
not know for sure
and will not risk it. I still think we
should fight this
battle without our horses. I doubt that
the enemy horses
are under control of the claw since they
are behind
fences. So we should be able to frighten them
at least long
enough to cause a distraction." He grins and
adds, "Won't
it be fitting for us to use his animals against
him during his
final battle!"

Later.......

Ben'Dar scowls
during the Blue Bug conversation, muttering,
"Those bugs
ARE the cause of all this!" He gives Cetric a
long look
and muses quietly to himself, "I wonder how long
he has been
under the control of those bugs?" He then
shrugs and
motions to Thig, saying, "You'd better check me
over as
well...I got bit by one of those things earlier.
I don't
think I have any attached... but you never know."

When Praelux is
discovered missing, Ben'Dar yells in
frustration,
"I should have realized! Something was wrong!
He was acting
nervous and scratching at his ears when we were
burying the dead
villagers. He probably has a bug attached
too...and now he's
probably gone off to warn all our enemies!"

He looks around at
the others and says, "If he's going to
warn them, then we
don't have much time. Can we stop him?
Can any of you
spellcasters catch up to him in time? If
not, we must ride
after him now... else we will have lost
the element of
surprise!"

(OOC: First
priority is to locate and stop Praelux. After
that, Ben'Dar
votes for the battle plan he outlined above.
He will fight with
his pike, on foot, while wearing the
wolf headdress to
appease the wolf spirits. He will leave
Tef'wo behind as
stated earlier.

Ben'Dar is wearing
his dragon armor and will have his bow
and arrows slung
on his back, his dagger in his boot, and
his pike in
hand. He will leave his spear and all the
equipment he keeps
in saddle bags behind, with Tef'wo.)
Yes, Ben'Dar will
be using his magic pike.
GM: Ack. Hope to have
more scene flashes eventually. Adds spice
a little like a
movie otherwise not done in table gaming.
Good plan.
Roger on gear. Thanks.

-----------------------

From Z'leyra: [Re:
Actions]
Perhaps some
should teleport ahead to intercept Praelux.
Z'leyra has the
base knowledge of the spell, but no real
skill at it. Z'l
eyra can join in but it might be better if
she uses a
Perception pell on the bug.

<She will Cast
OS EL0 then thru staff cast Perception at
ELmax> [If no
info results cast it on Cetric adding in
Purification EL
max 1st.]

Having dropped her
tracking spell Z'leyra suggests that
those who can go
invisible or who are REALLY stealthy make
up the force to
already be in the camp when the rest attack.
Hopefully they can
quickly take out their main opponent
while he is
distracted, leaving the rest demoralized.

She can cast
invisibility...but again is not the best at
the spell. Able to
go invisible for only 1 to 3 minutes
depending on how
she casts it.
GM: Ack.
[New Stuff]

Octaqi 21, in the 163rd Year
[TH]
[Meanwhile somewhere on the
plains]
[Day 51 of Trip] [3
Miles near the Enemy Village]
Time: Roughly 10pm

[Minutes before...]

[Farseeker listens
to Ben'dar's plan.]

Farseeker: "A
good tactical plan. The stampede might even
take
out a bunch of them. I believe the Donarans did
a
study on horse stampede in war. They figured for
every
three horses 1 man may die and another may be
wounded. That could give us as much as ten deaths
and
ten wounded just from the stampede. A good amount."

Balrog:
"Ahh..but I'd have to get to the gates which are
on the
west side near the camp. If I'm seen the
whole
thing is doomed. does anyone have a thing I
can
use or wear to go invisible? I can do it by
stealth but I'd want to do it late at night when most
are
asleep and not this time of night. Last time
I
attempted this I snuck into a courtyard with 12
guards
right amongst them and they never saw me but
it was
a big risk but a good reward." [He grins though
no one
sees it they can hear it in his voice.]

Kasha: "We'll
need to iron out the details..."

Thig: "Timing
will be critical. If the claw master is
awake
he could stop the horses. But if he is asleep
and
the horses are so scared....hmmm...yes timing will
be
critical. Too bad we don't have that hippogriff.
That
would certainly scare them to utter panic."

[Presently...]

[Ben'dar speaks
about the bugs.]

Caladan:
"Cetric was bit at the wolves. I doubt he
was
influenced before then. My guess is that the
wolves
were ordered by the claw master to attack
any
humans in the area to stop any chase. The wolves
saw
you and attacked. When the bugs bit Cetric their
..control information...likely gave the same aspect
as the
wolves. Cetric felt we were close."

Cetric:
"Yes...I can ..control it..."

Thig:
"Shamans have a strong will. They have to. It
is
likely Cetric can control this...hmmmm...I wonder
if we
could use this against the enemy camp?...I
think
if he was totally under some influence he would
have
killed Caladan."

Caladan: "I
agree."

[When praelux is known to have
left...]

[Farseeker
still holds Cetric, who doesn't seem to fight
back
at all as if willing to take it.]

Farseeker:
"Someone needs to go now!"

Kasha:
"At night he is under the same problems. He
can't see. So his escape from here would be quiet
for a few minutes. Then a fast gallop to gain
speed and then he'd HAVE to slow down."

Thig:
"Yes. I'll fly ahead and I should be able to
catch him."

[Caladan
begins to drop his gear.]

Caladan:
"Don't hurt him. I'm going."

[Caladan
continues to drop his gear."

Caladan:
"He is my cousin and I'll deal with him."

[In
the darkness only Thig, Jordi and Z'leyra see
what occurs but Caladan undresses.]

Balrog: "How?"

Caladan: "I can still change into panther form. One
of my methods. A panther can run very fast for
longer periods. He can also see well in the dark
due to the changed eyes."

[A
second later his body shifts and he forms into a
dark panther six feet long with large claws and
fangs. He runs off to the edge of the camp.]

[Thig
flies over and scans the ground for tracks. He
then indicates to the panther to follow and both head
south into the deep darkness..]

[Cetric whispers] "Amazing...I never saw him do that..
just heard about it.."

Farseeker: "What?"

Cetric: "Nothing..."

[Z'leyra comes forward and examines Cetric who is
put down onto the ground sitting. Farseeker releases
him but keeps a hand on his unsheathed sword.]

Farseeker: "Jordi can you check Ben'dar like he asks?"

[Jordi
approaches and checks Ben'dar up and down...]

Farseeker: "So Ben'dar you saw clues but didn't put
it together? I'm afraid we all missed those
clues. Many things make sense now."

Kasha:
"I saw those bugs on Grog and that Ser'manda
warrior. But that was BEFORE the claw was discovered.
This tells me these bugs are natural things that
affect people."

Balrog: "I know of a snake that injects venom that
will make men scream if touched. So nature has
these things. If Kaylle was he here he might
know more."

[Z'leyra gathers his staff and explains she will
enter a quick trance to learn about the bug. She
will cite things outloud that need to be heard
and remembered. She first enters her shamanic
basic trance and beats her drum. Cetric just stares
at her. Unsure of this female shaman casting spells
on him! She then grabs the bug behind Cetric's ear
with 3 fingers. It is warm to the touch but does not
move at all. At least none that she can detect. She
holds her staff and casts another spell. A couple
seconds later she gasps as the spell fails and she
speaks nothing. She learns the spell has failed.
Cetric gives a slight grin but isn't seen.]

[Z'leyra casts the perception spell again. She explains
quickly in a bit over a minute's time. She explains
the bug is a burrower living entirely underground unless
its home encounters the top then it rarely goes out
if it can help it. this would make sense as it seems
to have burrowed into the skin of Cetric. It is
a non-aligned creature and has no magical powers or
abilities at all. But it does seem to have a potent
form of venom that affects mental processes. This
is already known. It sues this on its natural prey
to attack them. In humans it seems to live on brain
stuff (nutrients but this term is not known to
Z'leyra but seems to be chemicals of some sort?).
This must be why it is near the brain/ear. As long
as they stay there it can survive as long as the
host does being a parasite. This particular one
left a dead wolf and attached itself to Cetric. Its
venom can't be extracted and used as it only seems
to work through a mix of the brain "stuff" and its
venom. The spell doesn't seem clear but it could
affect the brain through minor telepathy but its
unclear. This may be concepts the unconscious
Z'leyra mind can't comphrend. The bugs also hate
water.]

[Z'leyra exits the trance and this information is
relayed back to her. She then grabs a canteen
of water and then puts some water in her palm and
then pours it on the bug. Instantly it seems to
move about but doesn't leave. She does it again
this time more water and it finally lifts its body
out and begins to crawl away. Z'leyra grabs it's
back as it climbs down the neck. She looks it
over seeing as she can see in the darkness with one
of her amber stones. Its a interesting bug and seems
to have some wet stuff on its mandibles. She
then recalls Cetric is probably bleeding. She
places the bug in a empty purse for later. She
then checks Cetric who seems to have a bit of blood
but otherwise nothing else. She guesses the bug
has a blood agent to stop bleeding. She sees where
the bug injected its mandibles. She tells Cetric
the bug is gone.]

Cetric: "Th-...thank you..I guess I won't ...nevermind."

Farseker: "Should we just let him be now?"

Next update Friday....

Actions? Comments?

The next bunch of updates will be small and slow
until
a consensus of battle plans are done.
After the chase
I'll call for votes. Once its decided
we'll go for the
battle then things will speed up. But so
far a good start.
Next update will conclude the new chase and
results from
that. Right now ran out of time.
