[Recap]

From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
"How long?" Z'leyra replies, "Well we wouldn't want to ...

She hands Cetric a full healing kit.
GM: Ack.

From Kiet; [Re: Actions]
Kiet takes the transport in stride now, but he's still....
GM: Ack. Excellent stuff. Kudos and points on even that
small stuff. I added to it below.

From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Janaq 8th, 6:29 am:

[Chion talking about the Ga'Sha legend]

Arawn chuckled. "Don't worry, I didn't have plans to....

Janaq 8th, 6:48 am:

Arawn greeted Cetric and the villagers with a smile,...
GM: Ack. The gifts were done in IBT technically given
to the village days before. So why I did not cover
any major replies below.

------------------------------------------------------------
[New Stuff]

[Janaq 8th, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Plains - Ga'felora Tribal area - Cetric's Village]

[Time: 6:29 am]

Chion warns covertly about the Ga'sha myth with a white
horse and to be so dramatic about it.

Arawn chuckled. "Don't worry, I didn't have plans to take
advantage of that," he replied. "But don't be so quick to
dismiss the legend. It might not apply to me but prophecies
have a way of playing themselves out when the time's right
and in ways that are often unexpected."

Chion crosses his arms across his barrel chest. He makes
a raspberry sound. "Xian was told one day he'd defend the
world against some god! Here not up there." He points to
the sky. "Fremea is destined to be the avenger? Varange
destined to bring the glory back of the Fae. Myths like these
just are gaps filled in by folks."

Arriving in the village Arawn gratefully accepted the Zam,
sipping the slightly sweet-tart tea as he waited for Cetric and
the rest of the village to rouse. He chatted with Chion for a
bit, wishing he could offer the man some gift to aid him in
his journey but sensing the man was more than capable of
taking care of his needs. Instead the Alfar offered a heart-
felt thanks, a hug if the far wandering wizard would take it,
and a prayer of blessing on the man for a successful and safe
trip, any greater gift awaiting another day when time would
finally allow for it.

Chion accepts but is not a hugger being mostly muscle at
250 pounds the agile man looks weird hugging folks. But
he does not accept gifts for this task. He just knows that
the jungle at Port Doman will be so much different here
with the humid air and it may be hotter there.

[Time: 6:53 am]

Kiet takes the transport in stride now, but he's still
uncomfortable with it. After the warnings he's seen, and who
knows what else he hasn't seen or been told about, he wonders
how safe it is in proximity to his fellow travelers.
Especially Z'leyra. Kiet wonders about the blast radius of
a major lightning bolt from the heavens.

Except for this day, Chion the large man who Kiet has
just recently met teleports the horses and everyone.
Stories are that the magician turned Shaman under the
training of Cetric has a good skill in the spell. Now
he goes form land to land with ease. Kiet is worried
sending his horse first but is told by Arawn that he
previously set up a teleport circle by the village. A
area like the Dark Lands specifically set aside for just
teleporting. So this circle must be area outside. That
still leads to what if a bird lands where he appears?
He might have wings after all. But he assumes the
Zen'da would prevent that by watching the circle. At
least Kiet hopes so.

Except for Ben'dar, Kiet knows little of the Zen'da. He
knows they are barbarians and all, so he watches his belongings
very closely, most especially Ma Siwang...his horse. But
knowing Ben'dar probably did not stray to far from the tribes
he suspects they are at least honorable. But he still watches
his belongings. Kiet does his best with their language, at
least attempting to speak with them. With luck there might
even be a chance to compete. He knows that some cultures
enjoy games of speed, strength or endurance. If any are
offered, Kiet will take on the task just to show he is not
afraid to try. Depending on the wager, of course.

This may well be a long trip. There may not be much
opportunity to perform great deeds, or make any reputation for
himself, but he still feels that he must continue this 'trip'
to the end. The questions about Z and her family, and the
person(s) causing the trouble, are an interesting puzzle, one
Kiet would like to help solve. Kiet is uncertain that Z's
sister is truly involved, especially since the double seemed
to not have her ritual drum with her. Kiet didn't think ANY
shaman would leave such an important artifact behind. So,
the question is, who was it really?

Then Kiet sees this Cetric a Shaman leader for the Ga'felora.
He also has no drum. He does wear a bone necklace of some sort
of animal shrunken feet. As he watches the man here realizes
the bone looks canine and later he learns Cetric's totem are
the wolves. Yet Kiet looks around and sees no wolves. That
may be to protect the village or just to let the animals
pursue their own desire. So maybe his necklace is his focus
or that nice animal hide belt?

Kiet smiled to himself, then frowned a bit after thinking
again about residual blast damage from a lightning bolt. His
original thought was that it would, indeed, be funny if the
Balance gods decided this was the way to punish her. It
would be funny, from a certain point of view, perhaps. Kiet
hoped he might never 'enjoy' such attention. He shudders
noticeably, and not from the cold.

Yet the large Chion who seems to like his Sai weapons
has mastered teleport so much he can go from here to
Port Doman in seconds. A possible round trip of half
the planet in maybe two hops lasting only a minute at
most. Surely he is getting some attention. A god
could use or abuse such talent for their own agenda.

Kiet is well aware that the Zen'da rarely wear much, if
any armor. They will use shields when using spears, and even
have an extra shield sometimes with their horses. Kiet does
try to look at the shields, and sees they are often decorated
or painted, usually with scenes of battle, creatures, or
shapes unknown. He asks about them and is told they usually
depict something about the tribe, or the bearer, or is simply
almost a totem-like item, more for luck and protection. But
the actual shield would be a poor defense. But, then, that is
why so many have two.

Later the first night Kiet and Kell notices one shield
against a tipi. The wooden with treated leather hide seems
to show a large sphere like object falling from the sky
to the ground. While both men speak Zen'da with a slight
degree they use Arawn to translate better. The warrior
in his 40s explains it is a end-times legend. That the
sky spirits will rain down burning rocks on the plains
and turn it into a large lava pool.

Kiet doesn't let any of these Zen'da know about his little
supply of enchanted coinage. He figures they might be needed
later, or perhaps will make more of an impression away from
someone as powerful as Cetric. Rarity makes things more
valuable. Besides, why tempt them. Having Kiet's little
trinkets would greatly aid such barbarians by giving them a
much greater roaming range...and a huge advantage over their
neighbors. Kiet chooses not to use them while in or near
camp.

Kiet wonders if any other non-Zen'da would be crazy or insane
to be on the plains. While the Zen'da are friendly toward
the Marentians they are still very territorial. He wonders
if any non humans might be out there risking their life for
some errand across the plains?

Cetric greets the party as a cold wind blows across the
open plains. Chion and Z'leyra introduce the others like
Pyan, Lucria and Fuk who have not been here before. Arawn
has also informed the tribe of the others already like
Kiet and Kell. It was 16 months ago when the party had
their time here. That's when Cetric who was unsure of
things tested them and tried to take them out. But
at the time it was linked to the Vong Blue Bugs that
were controlling people and animals. Those who have heard
the stories do the math. The Blue Bugs were actually here
before the Vong were. The party did not encounter the Vong
until 9 months ago. But it is possible Shapers had spread
the bugs but some speculate the bugs were natural and the
Shapers retreated them for their purpose. The attack by
the Giant on the party was one such example with the giant
infected by the Blug Bugs. The theory was when the party
was here 16 months ago Ezam the Vampire may have had some
influence on the presence of the bugs.

Cetric asks how long the party will be here.

"How long?" Z'leyra replies, "Well we wouldn't want to
overstay our welcome but it would be nice to renew our
acquaintance and visit for a day and night. Here is a gift
for you to help keep your people healthy. Our group now has
several that know spells of healing, we welcome the
opportunities to use those spells to help people."

Z'leyra hands Cetric a full healing kit.

Cetric nods, "thank you as you people say. In our culture
thanks is a slight show of weakness. But I certainly see
merit in appreciation. Arawn actually bought one recently
and showed me the basics. The herbs will be the most used
as winter is here and harder to find. So let's get you
settled in. We have setup 3 new tipis for your group to
use. Your horses are over there with ours. The gear on
the horses were taken to the tipis while Chion watched." He
smiles and knows barbarians have a reputation and shows that
his people are above that.

[Time: 11:40 am]

For the next few hours the village and party reacquaint. The
temperatures range form 42 to only 56. But the fires stoked
by the tribe keep everyone warm. The smaller fires in each
tipi keeps the triangle structures even warmer.

Like the shields the tipis are decorated with animal hides.
These people are mostly nomads though Cetric has chosen
to stay here. The exact reason is fuzzy but he believes
that a central point is best to keep the tribe active. But
the party doubts this for some reason. Maybe Chion will learn
the truth one day. The decorations depict great horse warfare
or battles.

When Fuk pulls out a ration this causes Cetric to frown. "No.
We will furnish food and drink for you Put that away. In fact
we will feed your horses."

[Time: 12:38 pm]

After lunch Cetric and party share stories. Z'leyra asks
about fords or crossing points.

"The river changes daily with storms in the hills creating
snow or such. It is a wild river that can not be tamed. But
Waluf here will ride with you to the river and then show you
a possible area. We believe closer to the hills a ford is
possible. We do not have rafts able to carry your large horses."

Z'leyra considers teleport or making rafts. But she looks
at Kell. The half-elf is proud of his new magical toy that
may let them cross. She is sure the trader would be eager
to test them out. But until they get further north and find
width under 100 or so feet they'll have to do other methods
like teleport.

[Time: 4:37 pm]

The party and mingle. There is little to do here in
the village so some do help with chores but know it would
be disrespectful to intrude on the duties of others. So they
try to help out in subtle ways. As the sun begins to
lower the village begins to wind down. Hunters bring
forged berries and other plants while one hunter brings
in a small deer for dinner. The Zen'da do not hunt all
the time as they realize that they only use what they
need not what they want.

Cetric and others try to learn about Pyan. They know
his hunting skills might be good to know. They ask about
his homeland and no one has heard of it before.

Lucria surprises others by speaking Zen'da well but
explains in Marentian. "I had chance one time to enter
the plains on chase of a person. I did not have these
head bands though. It was ...eventful. After I was
captured with my prisoner I learned some of their language.
I learned more as I returned home. We had to escape three
days later while the village was sleeping. I do hope we
do not encounter the tribe due north of Ticasi." He smiles
faintly.

[Time: 9:12 pm]

As the cold lowers to the 30s the stars seem so crisp tonight.
In the city they are seen but with mix of smoke and other
things they seem less vibrant. Some offer to help with watch
but Cetric refuses and posts 2 sentries. He explains there
is rarely any trouble. Maybe once every few months some
wild thing will come in the village but nothing serious.

[Janaq 9th, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Plains - Ga'felora Tribal area - Cetric's Village]

[Time: 5:48 am]

The plains are quiet until the tribe wakes up. At this
ungodly hour many are already up and about. This wakes
up some of the party who grumble like Fuk for losing sleep.

Waluf a tall warrior dressed in thick leathers is already
grooming his horse. While Zen'da tend to wear less in
this cold season they pack on animal hides for survival.
The blue eyed warrior stands just at 6 feet with muscles as
thick as a tree trunk or at least it seems that way.

[Time: 6:10 am]

Finally the party all wakes and is fed a cereal, mash
oatmeal style thing called Pauk.

[Time: 6:48 am]

Arawn greeted Cetric and the villagers with a smile, thanking
the young girl when she presented the bandana to him. When
Z'leyra presented the medicine kit to the shaman he added,

Cached nearby were the gifts, meant to help see Cetric's
people through the winter - daggers and hunting gear; fresh
fruit, spices and other rations ; blankets and bedrolls; bags
and ropes; extra medicinal supplies; sandals; and building
supplies. Several among the group had ties to this place or
used it as a stop-off point on their excursions across the
known lands. And with the harshness of winter building he
hoped that it would help see them safely through to the spring.

"And we have more gifts to share with the village as well
as a sign of our appreciation for your friendship and
hospitality. We would love to present it to them, perhaps
when they've gathered for breakfast or lunch, and allow you
to distribute the gifts to best benefit the tribe."

The party sets off west to the river. The day is cloudy
with temperatures ranging from 38 to 54. As the party
moves on ground fog is seen everywhere. Some might see
it as a omen but the Zen'da seem to care less. Fog returns
near sunset as well.

[Time: 3:53 pm]

Waluf has come with food and water for everyone including
the horses for today. But does know tomorrow that will
run out. Around this time it begins to rain. It is not
cold enough to snow yet but the rain is very cold. Arawn
tries to quickly with help put up his large horse shelter.
The party and horses hide under it but have already been
drenched by now. The rain lasts only ten minutes but the
damage is done.

The party moves on through the mud and damp clothing.
Some consider using the magical blankets to dry off but
they would need them later that night. So those who have
spare clothing change into at least dry clothing.

[Time: 6:02 pm]

The party makes camp for the night.

[Janaq 10th, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Western Plains]

[Time: 6:22 am]

The party packs up after a quick breakfast and heads
out as the sun gets just over the horizon. The day is
cloudy again with temperatures from 29 to 60.

[Time: 10:34 am]

As the party moves the group talks about what could
be going on in L'p'nth. But suddenly Kell's horse
moves over a clump of grass and his right front hoof
falls in. A instant before this happens Arawn opens
his mouth to yell a warning seeing the possible animal
hole but is too late.

Kell is forced forward but his awareness and skills
prevent him from falling forward off the horse. But
the half-elf barely holds on to the reigns.

The horse shifts forward and falls further into the
warren-hole. This finally forces Kell to roll but
not badly onto the ground and sees the horse falling
to the left toward him. Kell rolls away just in time.

The horse begins to whine in confusion. Suddenly
the horse gives a yelp and stiffens. The horse then
collapses to the left straight for Kell's arm. Not
that arm again! But since his foot is half way in a
hall this causes the horse only to rock back an forth
awkwardly in the hole. But Kell notices his head slump
and tail sag as he becomes quiet. This is not good for
the horse.

Kell tries to get his bearings just as he sees a form
in the grass move. A large black serpent rushes out
of the warren and opens his fangs and moves toward Kell.
Kell sees the red eyes blaze and figures this snake has
been disturbed from sleep. Why can't it attack Kiet
they like to do that!

Kell gets to all fours as the snake rushes him. The
snake lunges and bites Kell's left arm. Kell yells in
pain and notices a bit of magical aura as the snake bites
down. It must be magical poison.

Kell curses why couldn't it bit over his vambrace? It
had to bite above the elbow. He knows he has his dirks
on his belt. But his shield and spears are on the horse
about 2-3 feet away.

Actions? Comments?

Next Update....Monday?

GM: GREAT NEWS! Wout is alive and well. I got email today
from his work. He' just been super busy. Which I perfectly
understand. I've asked him if he wanted to join now
or later when entering Kameran. So we'll find out.
Looks like the websites for list and his site are back
up as well. At least he's well.

This is how I'll try to do the updates for travel. From
encounter to encounter. If there is nothing more
after this we'll stop at the cross point. Since he
is back I'll do update today and next will be Monday.
But with me on 5 hours sleep I'm fading so going to
finish this quickly.

GM: Maps online now. Thanks to Alex he cropped the world map
into the travel area. Bottom right is Cetrics area and
top left is Kameran. This is now online. There is
a unedited versios. Then my version showing various
landmarks and routes. I have a file explaining the
legend. But basically yellow blob is Cetrics village.
red line is route to river to find shallow point. I
already marked where there is a cross point (blue
blob). I goofed and did a bit of 'red smudge' on
the other side of the river just ignore that. I'm no
good with graphics programs. Too impatient.

I have not marked where this snake encounter is. But
one can assume 29 miles per day (1.5 hexes) to estimate
it.

GM: I will assume food/water is obtained as long as the warrior
rides with you. After crossing I'll start to make it off.

GM: Too Brain dead to make a map so heres some basic info.

Distance from X to Kell
Arawn - 38
Fremea - 21
Kiet - 7
Pyan - 4
Z'leyra- 35
Fuk - 23
Lucria - 34
