<p>When she is awoken by the baying, she only grabs her bow and quiver, flying into the air. If there are enough clumped together she will cast multi-arrow in one phase at the highest EL she can. Otherwise, she will just start taking shots at the dogs.<br>

creature in order to help get experience.especilly ones that<br>
can swallow a little dwarf whole!<br>
GM: Ack. Yeah it was just lucky damage. I may try to beef<br>
the monsters up. Next encounter below should allow you<br>
to get some experience. Sorry when you join a high level<br>
group you gotta act fast. :<. Also it matters on movement<br>
order. Horses are faster so those on horses moved first<br>
then those on ground.<br>

[Janaq 18th, 1635TH]<br>
[Zen'da Central Plains]<br>

[Noon]<br>
<br>
Water sources have been scarce the last few days to find.<br>
Since the river 3 days ago the horses are getting more and<br>
more thirsty. But they can only go three days without<br>
water so today while resting for lunch Arawn casts a spell<br>
to bring some water for them.<br>
<br>
First with help from others a small pit is made for only<br>
a few inches . A quick circle of removed ground. Then<br>
using tent stakes and the large tarp, Arawn places the tarp<br>
over the pit to collect the water.<br>
<br>
When he is happy he tries to recall what he saw in the dark<br>
lands. In order to create something from nothing must have<br>
something so goes the laws of magic. So he places some of<br>
his water skinned water in a goblet. Then he begins to cast<br>
the magical words.<br>
<br>
Nearing completion and casting of the spell he throws<br>
the small amount of water into the air over the tarp.<br>
Then casts the spell at the same time. Suddenly over the<br>
pit a sphere forms that looks transparent. But at closer<br>
look seems to contain something. Peering through the<br>
sphere vision is distorted like seeing people under<br>
water.<br>
<br>
Arawn tells the horses and people nearby to be ready.<br>
That when the spell ends it will splash a great deal. Then<br>
30 seconds later the spell ends and the water inside the<br>
10 foot diameter sphere falls downward to the tarp. Much<br>
of it splashes off the tarp but a thousand or so quarts of<br>
water weighs down the tarp.<br>
<br>
The horses are led forward to drink their share. Once<br>
they are sated it leaves maybe 100 odd quarts left for<br>
the party to refill water skins.<br>

[Janaq 19th, 1635TH]<br>
[Zen'da Central Plains]<br>
<br>
During the day the party does find a large puddle of water<br>
but its only a few sips at best. It did snow 41 minutes<br>
so snow is collected and melted later which does help to<br>
refill more water skins. But it is not that much to<br>
give the horses much to drink.<br>

As the worm explodes there is a slight delay in shock at<br>
the event. Not sure how such could occur. Maybe it<br>
was a combination of those electrical sparks and the<br>
magical fire with his spongy tissue? Either way it<br>
is a bit messy.<br>
<br>
Unali checks her clothes for any pieces of the worm that<br>
may have landed on her from the sudden explosion. The she bows<br>
to Kiet and trots off after her horse to mount again. She<br>
rides back to the group near Kiet and just remarks 'Messy.'<br>
<br>

After the worm explodes, Kiet heads over to Z'leyra to make<br>
sure she is ok. He will do what he can to get the wormy stuff<br>
off her and try not to stare too much. If it's still burning<br>
he will grab what water he can easily reach and poor it on her.<br>
<br>
"Z! Are you OK?" Looking concerned, he tries to help where<br>
he can. "I'm really sorry about that! I had no idea that<br>
worms could explode." Kiet will even offer her his cloak to<br>
cover up with until she can either rest up or change back to<br>
eagle form.<br>
<br>
"Good shooting guys!...Ugh." Z'leyra comments.<br>
<br>
With Kiet's help Z'leyra will scrape off what they can of<br>
what she was splattered with. She will switch to eagle and<br>
back to human form to see if that helps. Once clean she will<br>
repack her gear on the horse, then resume eagle form flying<br>
overhead with Corona.<br>
<br>
"Oh, shog! My head. It's a good thing I've got a sturdy<br>
helmet! Stupid horse." Dorhak grouses a bit more. "Why don't<br>
they make smaller versions of these things? Mountain goats!<br>
Now that's the way to travel!"<br>
<br>
Lucria after hearing the translation laughs at this and<br>
watches as Kiet cleans the naked shaman and wonders if he could<br>
help.<br>
<br>
Ha'Kell just smiles as the giant worm dies. Shaking his<br>
head to clear off the dust and stink of the monster, and<br>
checking for any obvious wounds to his horse. Nothing found,<br>
he rides over to Kiet. "That was you, wasn't it? Blowing it<br>
up from the inside with flames. We can use that again," smiling<br>
at his friend and clapping him on the back.<br>
<br>
Ha'Kell walks around the worm to make sure it is fully dead,<br>
and inspecting it since the last one was buried mostly. This<br>
time there is a huge pile of meat just waiting. "Dinner<br>
anyone?" he calls out, grinning again. Wondering if it is<br>
edible and if it tastes good or bad, or it needs some garlic<br>
and wine. Leaving it alone for the scavengers is a better idea.<br>
<br>
Kell can see the top portion gone but the hole still shows<br>
a complete part of the body deep inside. More likely only the<br>
top part exposed to air exploded leaving probably 80 or more<br>
feet of the beast underground to decay. Animals will have<br>
a field day for sure feeding.<br>
<br>
As to the Eater being eaten the tissue is probably so gummy<br>
and spongy a soup could be made but cooking it might just<br>
evaporate most of its goodness. It could be done but<br>
it would probably not taste as good as a steak.<br>
<br>
"We should move on as the carcass will attract scavengers.<br>
Unless anyone has a use for it? Whilst a giant meal of meat<br>
sounds excellent, I don't think this worm is very edible for<br>
us." Ha'kell adds to his previous comments.<br>
<br>
Kell helps clean up everyone as best as possible. Once<br>
moving, he asks Kiet, "Did both of your rings work, or just<br>
one? That was impressive. Remind me to buy you a drink or<br>
four next chance we get."<br>
<br>
Kell volunteers to range out and to the sides to look for<br>
water and a good campsite for the night, one at least several<br>
miles from the worm carcass.<br>
<br>
<br>
[Time: 6:15 pm]<br>
<br>
A small hail storm starts when the party is making camp.<br>
The hail is collected in Kiet's bucket and some other<br>
mugs/goblets. But when melted its only a few dozen quarts<br>
at most.<br>
<br>
[Time: 7:02 pm]<br>
<br>
Since it has been another 3 days since it was the last<br>
chance the horses drank fully so Arawn recasts his ball<br>
power spell again to let them drink.<br>
<br>
[Time: 7:21 pm]<br>
<br>
Kell approaches Kiet after dinner, asking him a question<br>
very quietly. He'll also ask Arawn after hearing Kiet's<br>
answer. This is something those with the party know he has<br>
been working on since the end of the Vong threat, and they can<br>
see the excitement in Kell's face. Perhaps today will be the<br>
day he finally makes the discovery. Those looking closely<br>
notice him fiddling with a small piece of very dark wood,<br>
about the size of a dirk both in length and width, yet<br>
completely raw and unused still.<br>
<br>
After chores at camp, Kell offers to teach more spear<br>
throwing for any that want help.<br>
<br>
Kell asks Kiet, "Will you go out for a few minutes with<br>
me? Just a hundred feet or so? It's time to cast another<br>
Knowledge spell for Ebony, this may be the time where the<br>
knowledge is complete." as the half-elf is brimming with<br>
excitement, and holding a piece of his ebony wood he brought<br>
to work on.<br>
<br>
Kell also asks Arawn to accompany him, "Will you come and<br>
watch as well, in case things go wrong? Or there is another<br>
worm out there?" Arawn senses even more with his high empathy,<br>
knowing how long this has been a near obsession for the trader.<br>
<br>
As Kiet walks he realizes the worm is technically a snake<br>
of sorts. His curse with snakes! At least Kell was the main<br>
target not him. Then he slaps the trader's back and<br>
grins cheerfully.<br>
<br>
Talking with both, assuming they say yes, "I'm going to<br>
cast a purification and then the knowledge spell. Having<br>
you both with me would make me feel much better."<br>
<br>
"I'd be willing to help. What kind of knowledge are you<br>
trying to gain? Do you even know it will be useful?" Kiet<br>
asks as they walk.<br>
<br>
"Thank you. The Knowledge is the rites to Enhance Ebony,<br>
and the effect. I started the studying way back in the Dark<br>
Lands, talking with an Elder Wizard before we left. Since<br>
that time, I have been studying in books and using Knowledge<br>
to learn the rites and what it does to Ebony. Whilst I am<br>
hoping this is useful, if nothing else ebony will be one of<br>
my favorite woods to use to craft things. Spears, shields,<br>
and more."<br>
<br>
"We can go out 200 feet or so, and there do the castings.<br>
Just in case something goes wrong, I don't want to endanger<br>
everyone."<br>
<br>
Kiet looks at Arawn so he keeps the others safe but draws<br>
them out into danger. Kiet shrugs and waits.<br>
<br>

[Janaq 22nd, 1635TH]<br>
[Zen'da Central Plains]<br>
<br>
[Time: 1:34 am]<br>
<br>
The cold night brings a sharp breeze that chills to the<br>
bone. While the others sleep the current sentries are<br>
Z'leyra and Lucria. Z'leyra is checking her medical supplies<br>
at the campfire while Lucria is on patrol.<br>
<br>
As Lucria reaches the south end of the camp he feels the<br>
urge. He quietly but loudly explains he needs to relieve<br>
himself. So heads into the darkness in the south. On<br>
the plains there is little trees and not many logs to<br>
sit and use as a seat for such tasks. So one has to crouch<br>
and do your business. That or dig a hole. As he<br>
does this the cold whips between his legs causing him<br>
to shiver.<br>
<br>
Suddenly on his rear he feels the odd tingle of something<br>
and realizes it feels like hair or whiskers. He glances<br>
behind him and sees a animal. He yelps and moves forward<br>
tripping over his pants hitting the ground. The animal<br>
walks forward and sniffs him and in the distant campfire<br>
light he can see it is some kind of cat.<br>
<br>
Z'leyra hears the noise and picks up her staff and heads<br>
to look. Holding her amber from her satchel she moves<br>
into the darkness. Then sees the half naked Lucria on his<br>
stomach with a small animal. As Z'leyra comes closer he<br>
notices another animal approaching from the north toward<br>
Lucria. As she gets closer she can tell these are cats.<br>
<br>
Then within a few feet she recognizes the cats as<br>
tiger cubs. She tells Lucria to be careful. She<br>
glances around where cubs are the mother must be. Then<br>
in the west she spots a female adult tiger moving this<br>
way. She urges Lucria to slowly get to get to his feet<br>
and be slow and careful.<br>
<br>
Shaman's know that tigers with cubs might be on the hunt<br>
but would not risk them if out numbered. So chances<br>
are the adult will leave them alone as they leave her cubs<br>
alone. So with Lucria behind him trying to get his pants<br>
up she slowly steps backward into the campfire.<br>
<br>
The large tiger inspects where Lucria did his business<br>
and then growls to collect her cubs. She glances at<br>
Z'leyra and the campfire and decides to move on<br>
leaving the camp safe.<br>
<br>
Lucria breathes finally, "if I didn't have to go then<br>
I certainly do now!"<br>
<br>
[Time: 6:41 am]<br>
<br>
Camp is broken up and the day continues to be cold and<br>
dreary with overcast all day. Temperatures do not vary<br>
at all only 42-45 degrees. The day goes on without finding<br>
a single village or water source.<br>
<br>
[Time: 9:50 am]<br>
<br>
A wind storm blows for about 20 minutes. Dorhak is helped<br>
by others to remain steady on the horse. Some items are blown<br>
off horses and personal items and have to retrieved but the<br>
storm ends quickly.<br>
<br>
[Time: 10:09 am]<br>
<br>
A light drizzle drops but only lasts 9 minutes which is<br>
barely time to collect any water and its only a enough<br>
for a few sips of water.<br>
<br>
[Time: 9:03 pm]<br>
<br>
Corona alerts the party to a nearby heard of antelope<br>
in the area. It is dark but Corona reports there are at<br>
least 13 of them moving east to west. They are avoiding<br>
the camp entirely.<br>

[Janaq 23rd, 1635TH]<br>

[Time: 6:17 am]<br>
<br>
Another overcast brings temperatures all day ranging from<br>
a cold 26 to a warmer 77. The party finds no village or<br>
water source the entire day.<br>
<br>
[Time: 3:26 pm]<br>
<br>
Fog rolls down the plains and the party slows down since<br>
the time of day is odd for fog. They are aware of any<br>
possible danger. The fog lasts a bit over 22 minutes and<br>
is thick with only about 5 feet visibility.<br>
<br>
[Time: 4:04 pm]<br>
<br>
About 15 minutes later the party discovers why the fog<br>
was around. A large fissure in the ground opened up like<br>
from a earth quake. Cold water from underground sources<br>
now floods the ground around it about 30 feet and the<br>
fissure. On the ground it is only a inch or two. But<br>
the smell of rotten eggs tells the party the water must<br>
be affected by sulfur or other bad things. So it is<br>
not drinkable.<br>
<br>
But the fog must've formed some how when the water got<br>
to the surface.<br>
<br>

[Janaq 24th, 1635TH]<br>
[Zen'da Central Plains]<br>
<br>
[Time: 6:17 am]<br>
<br>
Yet a 3rd day of overcast makes seeing the sun a long distance<br>
dream. The temperatures do warm up a bit ranging from 66-78<br>
degrees. Even enough to shed winter clothing. Another day of<br>
no village or water source is found.<br>
<br>
[Time: 12:10 pm]<br>
<br>
Since it has been days since horses got water in a great<br>
amount, Arawn recasts his ball power spell to collect more<br>
water for the horses.<br>
<br>
[Time: 1:36 pm]<br>
<br>
The party spots snow in the sky but its so high that half<br>
way to the ground it fades to nothing as the temperature<br>
climbs with going losing altitude.<br>
<br>
[Time: 3:53 pm]<br>
<br>
As the temperature climbs warm with a north eastern<br>
air mass, a haze forms nearby. The party figures it is<br>
a mix of fog and air particles of some kind. The haze<br>
doesn't last long though as it moves around.<br>

[Zen'da Central Plains]<br>
<br>
[Time: 7:02 am]<br>
<br>
Finally overcast is broken and mostly cloudy is the condition<br>
of the day. Finally bits and pieces of sun are seen. The<br>
temperatures today range from 51-58 degrees. Signs do indicate<br>
of a village was in the area but left very recently as they<br>
moved on. But no water source of merit is found.<br>
<br>

A drizzle drops for only 5 minutes and is enough only<br>
for a few sips of water.<br>
<br>
[Time: 4:26 pm]<br>

A storm rolls in with enough warning to allow the<br>
party to setup the weather tent for the horses and<br>
wait the storm out. It lasts 35 minutes. At most only<br>
about a half inch of rain is collected with a few dozen<br>
quarts only for water.<br>

[Time: 6:41 pm]<br>
<br>
The party still somewhat wet and tired from the storm<br>
makes camp. Just as tents are made a drizzle falls again.<br>
This one only lasts 3 minutes and is only a few sips<br>
collected in various containers.<br>

[Janaq 26th, 1635TH]<br>

[Time: 1:32 am]<br>
<br>
Arawn is at the horses to groom them as they have not been<br>
cleaned since the damp events earlier. Kell is on patrol<br>
around the camp in full gear.<br>
<br>
Suddenly Kell hears movement in the darkness. While Arawn<br>
has good night vision the half-elf is so so but a bit better<br>
than humans. He notices movement in the area around them<br>
and hears slight noises sounding like muttered barks.<br>
<br>
The noises seem to increase as the muttered barks become<br>
yelps that those who hear them before know what they are<br>
as Hyena half-bark-yelps.<br>
<br>
Arawn looks up and hears the noises. He walks over to<br>
grab his shield nearby and sees the shapes all around the<br>
camp moving this way and that.<br>
<br>
Kell estimates there at least a half dozen hyena charging<br>
his way. Arawn sees another half dozen or moving from various<br>
directions as one pack toward the camp. But Arawn knows<br>
there might be more they can't see.<br>
<br>
Z'leyra and Unali wake up in their tent from the coming<br>
danger from their alert magic.<br>
<br>
All at once the Hyenas all bay outloud ready for the<br>
charge as a pack. Those awake hear the sound and it<br>
brings chills down the hairs on arms. They realize<br>
there must be at least a dozen or more out there.<br>
<br>
At the noise Fremea, Kell, Fuk and Lucria all wake up.<br>
<br>

GM: This combat should be relatively easy. I am off Monday<br>
so will work on next update Monday afternoon. We are<br>
close to the second river at this point. I've<br>

I sitll need to do some chores here. Plus I need<br>
to find my ebony document I typed up. hmmmm<br>

Kiet -Not sure rings have a visual cue. But if want<br>
to say have it glow red that's fine. So you'd know<br>
if one failed? Optional. I should start adding<br>
'effects' like this to item creation like add X mana<br>
to make visual cues and such. Hmmm. Next adventure.<br>
