Water sources have been scarce the last few days to find.<br clear="none">
Since the river 3 days ago the horses are getting more and<br clear="none">
more thirsty. But they can only go three days without<br clear="none">
water so today while resting for lunch Arawn casts a spell<br clear="none">
to bring some water for them.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
First with help from others a small pit is made for only<br clear="none">
a few inches . A quick circle of removed ground. Then<br clear="none">
using tent stakes and the large tarp, Arawn places the tarp<br clear="none">
over the pit to collect the water.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
When he is happy he tries to recall what he saw in the dark<br clear="none">
lands. In order to create something from nothing must have<br clear="none">
something so goes the laws of magic. So he places some of<br clear="none">
his water skinned water in a goblet. Then he begins to cast<br clear="none">
the magical words.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Nearing completion and casting of the spell he throws<br clear="none">
the small amount of water into the air over the tarp.<br clear="none">
Then casts the spell at the same time. Suddenly over the<br clear="none">
pit a sphere forms that looks transparent. But at closer<br clear="none">
look seems to contain something. Peering through the<br clear="none">
sphere vision is distorted like seeing people under<br clear="none">
water.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Arawn tells the horses and people nearby to be ready.<br clear="none">
That when the spell ends it will splash a great deal. Then<br clear="none">
30 seconds later the spell ends and the water inside the<br clear="none">
10 foot diameter sphere falls downward to the tarp. Much<br clear="none">
of it splashes off the tarp but a thousand or so quarts of<br clear="none">
water weighs down the tarp.<br clear="none">

The horses are led forward to drink their share. Once<br clear="none">
they are sated it leaves maybe 100 odd quarts left for<br clear="none">
the party to refill water skins.<br clear="none">

During the day the party does find a large puddle of water<br clear="none">
but its only a few sips at best. It did snow 41 minutes<br clear="none">
so snow is collected and melted later which does help to<br clear="none">
refill more water skins. But it is not that much to<br clear="none">
give the horses much to drink.<br clear="none">

As the worm explodes there is a slight delay in shock at<br clear="none">
the event. Not sure how such could occur. Maybe it<br clear="none">
was a combination of those electrical sparks and the<br clear="none">
magical fire with his spongy tissue? Either way it<br clear="none">
is a bit messy.<br clear="none">

After the worm explodes, Kiet heads over to Z'leyra to make<br clear="none">
sure she is ok. He will do what he can to get the wormy stuff<br clear="none">
off her and try not to stare too much. If it's still burning<br clear="none">
he will grab what water he can easily reach and poor it on her.<br clear="none">

"Z! Are you OK?" Looking concerned, he tries to help where<br clear="none">
he can. "I'm really sorry about that! I had no idea that<br clear="none">
worms could explode." Kiet will even offer her his cloak to<br clear="none">
cover up with until she can either rest up or change back to<br clear="none">
eagle form.<br clear="none">

"Good shooting guys!...Ugh." Z'leyra comments.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
With Kiet's help Z'leyra will scrape off what they can of<br clear="none">
what she was splattered with. She will switch to eagle and<br clear="none">
back to human form to see if that helps. Once clean she will<br clear="none">
repack her gear on the horse, then resume eagle form flying<br clear="none">
overhead with Corona.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
"Oh, shog! My head. It's a good thing I've got a sturdy<br clear="none">
helmet! Stupid horse." Dorhak grouses a bit more. "Why don't<br clear="none">
they make smaller versions of these things? Mountain goats!<br clear="none">
Now that's the way to travel!"<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Lucria after hearing the translation laughs at this and<br clear="none">
watches as Kiet cleans the naked shaman and wonders if he could<br clear="none">
help.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Ha'Kell just smiles as the giant worm dies. Shaking his<br clear="none">
head to clear off the dust and stink of the monster, and<br clear="none">
checking for any obvious wounds to his horse. Nothing found,<br clear="none">
he rides over to Kiet. "That was you, wasn't it? Blowing it<br clear="none">
up from the inside with flames. We can use that again," smiling<br clear="none">
at his friend and clapping him on the back.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Ha'Kell walks around the worm to make sure it is fully dead,<br clear="none">
and inspecting it since the last one was buried mostly. This<br clear="none">
time there is a huge pile of meat just waiting. "Dinner<br clear="none">
anyone?" he calls out, grinning again. Wondering if it is<br clear="none">
edible and if it tastes good or bad, or it needs some garlic<br clear="none">
and wine. Leaving it alone for the scavengers is a better idea.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Kell can see the top portion gone but the hole still shows<br clear="none">
a complete part of the body deep inside. More likely only the<br clear="none">
top part exposed to air exploded leaving probably 80 or more<br clear="none">
feet of the beast underground to decay. Animals will have<br clear="none">
a field day for sure feeding.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
As to the Eater being eaten the tissue is probably so gummy<br clear="none">
and spongy a soup could be made but cooking it might just<br clear="none">
evaporate most of its goodness. It could be done but<br clear="none">
it would probably not taste as good as a steak.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
"We should move on as the carcass will attract scavengers.<br clear="none">
Unless anyone has a use for it? Whilst a giant meal of meat<br clear="none">
sounds excellent, I don't think this worm is very edible for<br clear="none">
us." Ha'kell adds to his previous comments.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Kell helps clean up everyone as best as possible. Once<br clear="none">
moving, he asks Kiet, "Did both of your rings work, or just<br clear="none">
one? That was impressive. Remind me to buy you a drink or<br clear="none">
four next chance we get."<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Kell volunteers to range out and to the sides to look for<br clear="none">
water and a good campsite for the night, one at least several<br clear="none">
miles from the worm carcass.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">

A small hail storm starts when the party is making camp.<br clear="none">
The hail is collected in Kiet's bucket and some other<br clear="none">
mugs/goblets. But when melted its only a few dozen quarts<br clear="none">
at most.<br clear="none">

Since it has been another 3 days since it was the last<br clear="none">
chance the horses drank fully so Arawn recasts his ball<br clear="none">
power spell again to let them drink.<br clear="none">

Kell approaches Kiet after dinner, asking him a question<br clear="none">
very quietly. He'll also ask Arawn after hearing Kiet's<br clear="none">
answer. This is something those with the party know he has<br clear="none">
been working on since the end of the Vong threat, and they can<br clear="none">
see the excitement in Kell's face. Perhaps today will be the<br clear="none">
day he finally makes the discovery. Those looking closely<br clear="none">
notice him fiddling with a small piece of very dark wood,<br clear="none">
about the size of a dirk both in length and width, yet<br clear="none">
completely raw and unused still.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
After chores at camp, Kell offers to teach more spear<br clear="none">
throwing for any that want help.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Kell asks Kiet, "Will you go out for a few minutes with<br clear="none">
me? Just a hundred feet or so? It's time to cast another<br clear="none">
Knowledge spell for Ebony, this may be the time where the<br clear="none">
knowledge is complete." as the half-elf is brimming with<br clear="none">
excitement, and holding a piece of his ebony wood he brought<br clear="none">
to work on.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Kell also asks Arawn to accompany him, "Will you come and<br clear="none">
watch as well, in case things go wrong? Or there is another<br clear="none">
worm out there?" Arawn senses even more with his high empathy,<br clear="none">
knowing how long this has been a near obsession for the trader.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
As Kiet walks he realizes the worm is technically a snake<br clear="none">
of sorts. His curse with snakes! At least Kell was the main<br clear="none">
target not him. Then he slaps the trader's back and<br clear="none">
grins cheerfully.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Talking with both, assuming they say yes, "I'm going to<br clear="none">
cast a purification and then the knowledge spell. Having<br clear="none">
you both with me would make me feel much better."<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
"I'd be willing to help. What kind of knowledge are you<br clear="none">
trying to gain? Do you even know it will be useful?" Kiet<br clear="none">
asks as they walk.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
"Thank you. The Knowledge is the rites to Enhance Ebony,<br clear="none">
and the effect. I started the studying way back in the Dark<br clear="none">
Lands, talking with an Elder Wizard before we left. Since<br clear="none">
that time, I have been studying in books and using Knowledge<br clear="none">
to learn the rites and what it does to Ebony. Whilst I am<br clear="none">
hoping this is useful, if nothing else ebony will be one of<br clear="none">
my favorite woods to use to craft things. Spears, shields,<br clear="none">
and more."<br clear="none">

"We can go out 200 feet or so, and there do the castings.<br clear="none">
Just in case something goes wrong, I don't want to endanger<br clear="none">
everyone."<br clear="none">

Kiet looks at Arawn so he keeps the others safe but draws<br clear="none">
them out into danger. Kiet shrugs and waits.<br clear="none">

The cold night brings a sharp breeze that chills to the<br clear="none">
bone. While the others sleep the current sentries are<br clear="none">
Z'leyra and Lucria. Z'leyra is checking her medical supplies<br clear="none">
at the campfire while Lucria is on patrol.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
As Lucria reaches the south end of the camp he feels the<br clear="none">
urge. He quietly but loudly explains he needs to relieve<br clear="none">
himself. So heads into the darkness in the south. On<br clear="none">
the plains there is little trees and not many logs to<br clear="none">
sit and use as a seat for such tasks. So one has to crouch<br clear="none">
and do your business. That or dig a hole. As he<br clear="none">
does this the cold whips between his legs causing him<br clear="none">
to shiver.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Suddenly on his rear he feels the odd tingle of something<br clear="none">
and realizes it feels like hair or whiskers. He glances<br clear="none">
behind him and sees a animal. He yelps and moves forward<br clear="none">
tripping over his pants hitting the ground. The animal<br clear="none">
walks forward and sniffs him and in the distant campfire<br clear="none">
light he can see it is some kind of cat.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Z'leyra hears the noise and picks up her staff and heads<br clear="none">
to look. Holding her amber from her satchel she moves<br clear="none">
into the darkness. Then sees the half naked Lucria on his<br clear="none">
stomach with a small animal. As Z'leyra comes closer he<br clear="none">
notices another animal approaching from the north toward<br clear="none">
Lucria. As she gets closer she can tell these are cats.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Then within a few feet she recognizes the cats as<br clear="none">
tiger cubs. She tells Lucria to be careful. She<br clear="none">
glances around where cubs are the mother must be. Then<br clear="none">
in the west she spots a female adult tiger moving this<br clear="none">
way. She urges Lucria to slowly get to get to his feet<br clear="none">
and be slow and careful.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Shaman's know that tigers with cubs might be on the hunt<br clear="none">
but would not risk them if out numbered. So chances<br clear="none">
are the adult will leave them alone as they leave her cubs<br clear="none">
alone. So with Lucria behind him trying to get his pants<br clear="none">
up she slowly steps backward into the campfire.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
The large tiger inspects where Lucria did his business<br clear="none">
and then growls to collect her cubs. She glances at<br clear="none">
Z'leyra and the campfire and decides to move on<br clear="none">
leaving the camp safe.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Lucria breathes finally, "if I didn't have to go then<br clear="none">
I certainly do now!"<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">

Camp is broken up and the day continues to be cold and<br clear="none">
dreary with overcast all day. Temperatures do not vary<br clear="none">
at all only 42-45 degrees. The day goes on without finding<br clear="none">
a single village or water source.<br clear="none">

A wind storm blows for about 20 minutes. Dorhak is helped<br clear="none">
by others to remain steady on the horse. Some items are blown<br clear="none">
off horses and personal items and have to retrieved but the<br clear="none">
storm ends quickly.<br clear="none">

A light drizzle drops but only lasts 9 minutes which is<br clear="none">
barely time to collect any water and its only a enough<br clear="none">
for a few sips of water.<br clear="none">

Corona alerts the party to a nearby heard of antelope<br clear="none">
in the area. It is dark but Corona reports there are at<br clear="none">
least 13 of them moving east to west. They are avoiding<br clear="none">
the camp entirely.<br clear="none">

Another overcast brings temperatures all day ranging from<br clear="none">
a cold 26 to a warmer 77. The party finds no village or<br clear="none">
water source the entire day.<br clear="none">

Fog rolls down the plains and the party slows down since<br clear="none">
the time of day is odd for fog. They are aware of any<br clear="none">
possible danger. The fog lasts a bit over 22 minutes and<br clear="none">
is thick with only about 5 feet visibility.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">

About 15 minutes later the party discovers why the fog<br clear="none">
was around. A large fissure in the ground opened up like<br clear="none">
from a earth quake. Cold water from underground sources<br clear="none">
now floods the ground around it about 30 feet and the<br clear="none">
fissure. On the ground it is only a inch or two. But<br clear="none">
the smell of rotten eggs tells the party the water must<br clear="none">
be affected by sulfur or other bad things. So it is<br clear="none">
not drinkable.<br clear="none">

But the fog must've formed some how when the water got<br clear="none">
to the surface.<br clear="none">

Yet a 3rd day of overcast makes seeing the sun a long distance<br clear="none">
dream. The temperatures do warm up a bit ranging from 66-78<br clear="none">
degrees. Even enough to shed winter clothing. Another day of<br clear="none">
no village or water source is found.<br clear="none">

Since it has been days since horses got water in a great<br clear="none">
amount, Arawn recasts his ball power spell to collect more<br clear="none">
water for the horses.<br clear="none">

The party spots snow in the sky but its so high that half<br clear="none">
way to the ground it fades to nothing as the temperature<br clear="none">
climbs with going losing altitude.<br clear="none">

As the temperature climbs warm with a north eastern<br clear="none">
air mass, a haze forms nearby. The party figures it is<br clear="none">
a mix of fog and air particles of some kind. The haze<br clear="none">
doesn't last long though as it moves around.<br clear="none">

Finally overcast is broken and mostly cloudy is the condition<br clear="none">
of the day. Finally bits and pieces of sun are seen. The<br clear="none">
temperatures today range from 51-58 degrees. Signs do indicate<br clear="none">
of a village was in the area but left very recently as they<br clear="none">
moved on. But no water source of merit is found.<br clear="none">

A drizzle drops for only 5 minutes and is enough only<br clear="none">
for a few sips of water.<br clear="none">

A storm rolls in with enough warning to allow the<br clear="none">
party to setup the weather tent for the horses and<br clear="none">
wait the storm out. It lasts 35 minutes. At most only<br clear="none">
about a half inch of rain is collected with a few dozen<br clear="none">
quarts only for water.<br clear="none">

The party still somewhat wet and tired from the storm<br clear="none">
makes camp. Just as tents are made a drizzle falls again.<br clear="none">
This one only lasts 3 minutes and is only a few sips<br clear="none">
collected in various containers.<br clear="none">

Arawn is at the horses to groom them as they have not been<br clear="none">
cleaned since the damp events earlier. Kell is on patrol<br clear="none">
around the camp in full gear.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Suddenly Kell hears movement in the darkness. While Arawn<br clear="none">
has good night vision the half-elf is so so but a bit better<br clear="none">
than humans. He notices movement in the area around them<br clear="none">
and hears slight noises sounding like muttered barks.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
The noises seem to increase as the muttered barks become<br clear="none">
yelps that those who hear them before know what they are<br clear="none">
as Hyena half-bark-yelps.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Arawn looks up and hears the noises. He walks over to<br clear="none">
grab his shield nearby and sees the shapes all around the<br clear="none">
camp moving this way and that.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Kell estimates there at least a half dozen hyena charging<br clear="none">
his way. Arawn sees another half dozen or moving from various<br clear="none">
directions as one pack toward the camp. But Arawn knows<br clear="none">
there might be more they can't see.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
Z'leyra and Unali wake up in their tent from the coming<br clear="none">
danger from their alert magic.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
All at once the Hyenas all bay outloud ready for the<br clear="none">
charge as a pack. Those awake hear the sound and it<br clear="none">
brings chills down the hairs on arms. They realize<br clear="none">
there must be at least a dozen or more out there.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
At the noise Fremea, Kell, Fuk and Lucria all wake up.<br clear="none">
<br clear="none">
