There is<br> nothing so warm as a crocheted sweater from dwarf beard hair.<br> No. Don't ask me about it." grinning madly at the thought.<br><br> [Time: 9:15 pm]<br><br> Once things settle down Kell asks Unali to come with her<br> about 25 feet away from camp. Still enough to see with<br> the campfire light. But close enough to do his spells<br> on her dagger. Then Kell asks Arawn to help to ensure<br> the magic works. He has his own magic sensing ability but<br> it is not as strong as the Sidh. Arawn agrees to help.<br><br> Kell had made two daggers, among other dirks. One went to<br> Z'leyra with the Earth Bridge on it. But now he wants to<br> enchant one for Unali. He pulls out the brand new dagger<br> which hasn't been touched or tainted by blood.<br><br> Kell shadow fights the air with it feeling its weight and<br> texture. He smiles at his craftsmanship. He waves Unali<br> to sit down on the grass.<br><br> Unali stats to Kell, "Thank you for such a wonderful gift. I<br> will be certain to care well for such a piece of craftsmanship.<br> And the enchantments you are willing to place on it are an<br> almost unheard bonus. I would love to witness you start the<br> process."<br><br> Kell places the dagger on the ground and asks for some<br> of Unali's blood and points to the dagger.<br><br> Without question Unali draws her magical dagger made<br> by Z'leyra and does a slight cut on her 4th finger on<br> her left hand. Enough that draws blood. She lets a couple<br> of blood drops hit the earth bridge dagger. Then she<br> stops the bleeding and cleans the wound.<br><br> Kell sits back and nods. Sitting cross-legged and<br> with arms on his knees he begins to cast the magical<br> spell words to enchant the dagger further.<br><br> Kell channels his magical energy and the force of<br> Unali's will into the magic he casts. In order to<br> link the metal with the warrior they must be linked<br> by essence. Thus the blood is the link in that chain.<br><br> Kell first dedicates the dagger for Unali. Then he<br> adds a weapon strength magic layer to the dagger. The 3rd<br> spell to enhance chances to hit fails. Arawn stops him<br> and Kell retries.<br><br> Holding his wand he continues and recasts the dagger<br> for better hit chance. Next he adds durability to the<br> dagger to make it tougher.<br><br> Kell feels drained as casting the dedication for each<br> enchantment is costly in magical energy. Arawn can<br> tell this and warns him he is drained. Kell nods and<br> tells Unali he will finish tomorrow.<br><br> [Time: 9:50 pm]<br><br> Kiet notices Fremea examining some plants nearby and approaches.<br> They speak softly for a few minutes on something.<br><br><br><br> -----------<br><br> [Janaq 28th, 1635TH]<br> [Zen'da Western Plains]<br><br> [Time: 9:08 pm]<br><br> Kell, Arawn and Unali head off from the camp and plans<br> to finish the spells on the dagger.<br><br> Kell casts a enchantment to boost Unali's dagger skill.<br><br> Using his own magical energy he places a protection<br> spell and a immunity spell upon the dagger.<br><br> Finally Kell lifts the dagger and hands it to Unali who<br> shadow fights with it. Twisting and jerking this way and that<br> with her acrobatic combat skills. She stops and smiles.<br><br> "Thank you friend, I promise I will use this well and keep it<br> safe."<br><br> Unali draws both magical daggers and begins some acrobatic<br> martial art shadow fighting. Kell smiles at the prowess of<br> Unali to use a dagger better than some can do a great sword.<br> Kell also notices that she seems at home in the shadows fighting.<br><br><br><br> --------<br><br><br> [Janaq 29th, 1635TH]<br> [Zen'da Western Plains]<br><br> [Time: 9:02 pm]<br><br> Kiet looks up Kell one evening before people retire for the<br> night or begin their watches. He's been thinking about this<br> for some time and decides now is as good a time as any to ask<br> his advice...privately.<br><br> "I haven't told anyone this yet, but I have been spending a<br> great many magical resources to learn the elemental language<br> of 'The Wind'. Eventually I wish to be able to master all<br> four."<br><br> "I have a problem, however. Progress is slow. I was<br> planning on summoning an air elemental...a Sylph, to be<br> precise. But I don't want to force him or her to help me. I<br> want to offer them something in exchange. I want them to help<br> me learn the language, spoken AND written. The only thing I<br> could think of that a Sylph desires is freedom. I was thinking<br> of asking them if they knew of any captive wind, storm, or<br> fellow Sylphs trapped by a Mage into a summoning item. I<br> would bring the item, and elemental, to them for release.<br> It might be dangerous for 'me' to release them...but the<br> Sylph could do so."<br><br> "What do you think of this plan?"<br><br> "In the future I desperately want to do the same with Fire.<br> My rings are dedicated to the might of Girra...I think it would<br> provide great power to have something like a Fire Lord to<br> protect my holdings...if they were amenable." Kiet smiles<br> his biggest smile.<br><br> "You already know Earth Magic. Sometime when you can afford<br> the time, I would seek to have you teach me and I could teach<br> you, if you wish."<br><br> Kell and Kiet sit and talk about the elements and the<br> summoning of them for several hours as the campfire burns<br> around them and others sleep.<br><br><br> --------<br><br><br> [Febris 1st, 1635TH]<br> [Zen'da Western Plains]<br><br> [Time: 9:15 pm]<br><br> Kiet decides it is time for some more knowledge. He<br> asks Kell and Arawn to help guard him. Then leaving<br> the camp into the darkness he heads west about a half mile.<br> Using a torch and bringing rocks he collects earlier that day<br> he builds his ritual stone circle. He gently places the<br> lit torch on the ground for some light. But the night<br> is a blur of clouds and stars. Normally he does this during<br> the day but he figures even at night the elementals are still<br> around.<br><br> He would burn incense but it would attract attention to<br> the camp. While Kell and Arawn patrol within about 30<br> feet around Kiet, he begins his spells. He pulls his magical<br> energy from his bracers as he wields the tiny Rowan wand. He<br> decides he may need a longer wand than 2 inches later.<br><br> Kiet forms a pact with the elementals of the air. This seems<br> to disperse the clouds over head. Maybe it just seems that<br> to him. But a distinct cold warm hits his back from the north.<br> Then he casts his knowledge spell requesting info on the<br> aspects of the wind.<br><br> Kiet stares at the night sky and then down at the darkness.<br> A flood of minor words and phrases. He sighs knowing to get<br> to expert level will take time. But he considers some options<br> in his head as he turns to head back to camp.<br><br><br> --------<br><br> [Febris 2nd, 1635TH]<br> [Zen'da Western Plains]<br><br> [Time: 6:41 am]<br><br> Kiet gives Dorhak Z'leyra's magical necklace to learn<br> Marentia. The Dwarf squirms but is calmed down. Kiet<br> has him repeat the words in Marentia "understand". But<br> since the dwarf can't speak a word of Marentia Kiet<br> has to repeat it over and over until he is sure he gets it.<br> Once this is done Kiet begins to speak and suddenly<br> the Dwarf's eyes enlarge.<br><br> But then Dorhak sighs as he indeed does pick up the language<br> but at a simple level. He now can understand basic concepts<br> but not casual conversation.<br><br> [Time: 6:50 am]<br><br> Kiet gets Dorhak before he mounts the horse. He tells<br> him he wants to cast his own magic to learn the dwarf's<br> tongue. Dorhak agrees and Kiet casts the Tongues spell.<br> Dorhak begins to talk about the Elder mountains. But as<br> Kiet casts the spell he only gets a word or two. He<br> also frowns that it seems his understanding is only<br> on a simple basis at this point. Something about big<br> rocks and gray peaks. But at least its a start.<br><br> Kiet asks Z'leyra to reserve the necklace for tomorrow<br> so he can learn Kameri. But if they are inside the<br> lands by then it might be too late.<br><br> The party heads north toward the hills and forests. Fuk<br> rides still upset that Z'leyra hasn't done much leadership<br> for warning about dangers or telling about her people. He<br> is glad he researched these barbarians before coming or<br> he'd be clueless. But still the Constable rides looking<br> at Z'leyra wondering if she is herself or this doppelganger<br> simply forcing the group into a land to be slaughtered.<br><br> [Time: 6:01 pm]<br><br> As the sun starts to settle on the horizon the party<br> can see the forest in the distance only about half a mile.<br><br> But is a bit safer to be on the plains and camp then<br> in a crowded forest. So the party makes camp but has<br> plenty of wood from the edge of the forest.<br><br><br><br> --------<br><br> [Febris 3rd, 1635TH]<br> [Zen'da North Border]<br><br> [Time: 5:53 am]<br><br> The party wakes up from a wet night. A quick storm seemed to<br> have rolled in last night above the forest but it did little<br> over the camp but rain. But it looked deeper into the forest<br> with heavy winds and lightning.<br><br> Kiet stretches and gets his bucket of dirt and tosses in<br> his token. He then pulls out a small bit of chicken from<br> what was once rocks and goes to the fire to cook it. He<br> yawns and asks Z'leyra for the necklace.<br><br> Kiet asks Z'leyra to speak Kameri as he tries to learn<br> the language. He does indeed learn it but at a simple<br> basic level. He hops the natives speak slow and precise<br> so he can pick up the words.<br><br> [Time: 6:30 am]<br><br> Corona dropped off a large rabbit for the party to have for<br> breakfast an hour ago. It is meat but shared with everyone<br> only a small bit. But its protein. But now the meal is<br> done and the party departs toward the dark forest.<br><br> The skies are overcast for most of the day at least until<br> the party enters the forest and then the canopy makes it<br> harder to see the sky. The temperatures today mostly range<br> from a steady 65-66 with little variation so its not very<br> cold or warm.<br><br> The party moves slowly into the forest. Corona reports the<br> river is only a few miles north.<br><br> [Time: 8:15 am]<br><br> The party reaches the river. Corona had tried to scout but<br> the canopy is too thick for a good view on possible river<br> depths.<br><br><br> [Time: 8:25 am]<br><br> Fuk looks to Pyan, "isn't your home like nearby here? Ever<br> need or want go home? Its only what a few hundred miles away?"<br><br><br> [Time: 8:33 am]<br><br> Some time later the party finds a possible crossing point<br> At this point in the river which extends hundreds of miles<br> west and not that far east the river is not as wide or<br> deep as in the west in the tribal lands. But at one<br> point the party finds a bunch of trees that had fallen<br> the night before and causes the river to flow a bit<br> different due to obstructions. Here the river crossing<br> point is 40 feet. But the depth is 5 feet. Yet this seems<br> to be the best place to cross from aerial recon.<br><br> Kell reminds the party Z'leyra and now Unali have both<br> of his magical Earth Bridge daggers. Kell finds a spot<br> that the earth is thicker and tells them to use it there.<br> The party prepares the horses again to hurry but remain<br> calm as they cross the magical earth bridge.<br><br> The party dismounts and the first dagger casts the<br> bridge. The first set of horses crosses before it<br> disintegrates. Unali then uses her own dagger to create<br> the second bridge. This allows the rest of the horses to<br> cross.<br><br> While some crossed behind the party others like Fuk,<br> Lucria and Dorhak find spots where rocks and down trees<br> allow difficult but not impossible crossing with only<br> about a foot of water to wade through.<br><br> As the party gathers up the horses Pyan yells. He spots<br> blood on a bush. Weapons are drawn and Fremea begins a aerial<br> recon. Pyan being the hunter tracks the blood but it goes back<br> to the river as if whatever was hurt needed refuge. The trail<br> is lost.<br><br> Spreading out the party looks around and then Fuk yells<br> out he spots something gray toward him. The party moves<br> in that direction. Fremea being aerial find it first. It<br> is a human form in the grass about 3 feet from the river<br> but only about 60 feet from the party's crossing point.<br><br> As others move along the river in the thick woods Kiet<br> notices blocks of wood at the shore. But not normal<br> limbs or down trees. These are man made piece of wood.<br><br> Fremea lands and inspects the male. No wait. The<br> person has long hair but its a female. She looks to the<br> others and waves them on.<br><br> Fremea draws a dagger and sees Fuk the next person near<br> by. Fremea prods the girl to see if she is alive and the<br> girl jumps. She rolls over and sits up staring at this strange<br> winged small person. She begins to scoot backwards away from<br> this strange creature.<br><br> The girl reaches for her hip and pulls out a dagger of her<br> own but then Fuk speaks. "Whoa miss." He says in Marentian.<br> But hopes Z'leyra will be over soon to speak it in Kameri.<br><br> The girl who can't be no older than 17 or 18 jumps at Fuk's<br> voice and looks over. Then she sees the others moving through<br> the forest.<br><br> Maelorna looks up from where she sits leaning back against a<br> tree, long copper tresses cascade down her back, caressing the<br> cream coloured skin of a lithe body. From beneath the shade of<br> her bangs, emerald green eyes smolder as the regard you<br> hungrily, as her crimson painted lips part in a calculated pout,<br> while she licks her lips. Marring or enhancing her appearance,<br> a heavy silver coloured collar is firmly locked about her neck,<br> denoting her fortunes or lack thereof.<br><br> Lucria gasps at seeing the girl and her eyes. He smiles<br> and passes through some heavy brush and mutters. "Let me<br> I can give her the breath of life." Then he frowns as he<br> sees she is sitting.<br><br> Fuk waves a hand toward the man carrying a whip on his<br> belt, "she could be your sister!"<br><br> Fremea stares at the collar and a bit of rage swells<br> inside here. Being a ex-Donaran slave she has made it<br> her mission to study the trade in other lands. Including<br> that of Marentia. This particular collar was ineed made<br> in Marentia. But Fremea frowns. Is she a escaped slave<br> or something else?<br><br> The girl notices more and more people including a small<br> bearded man approach. What are all these people doing here?<br><br> Fuk turns to Z'leyra who has knelt to inspect the girl.<br> "Can you ask her what she is doing here?"<br><br> As Z'leyra scans the girl who is wearing a thick winter<br> coat she notices a bit of dried blood on her winter tunic.<br> But it seems aside from some scraps and abrasions from<br> possibly moving in dark forest at night there is no obvious<br> wounds.<br><br> But Z'leyra notices something in her eyes. Recognition.<br> The girl either understands Fuk or can guess what he means?<br><br> Dorhak to the north of the group picks up a rucksack and<br> a large crossbow. The group recognize it as a expensive<br> repeating crossbow.<br><br> The girl stands up at seeing her gear touched by this small<br> man and glares.<br><br> Pyan then yells some distance away to the west back where<br> the party was. He found a dead body.<br><br> As Kiet looks to the river he notices more and more wood<br> pieces and also signs of items like a cup or a broken crate<br> or rope floating.<br><br> Lucria squints at the girl. There is something about her.<br><br> As the girl stands she stands 6 feet even and seems under the<br> heavy winter coat to be about 135-140 pounds. The collar around<br> her neck has two small chain links with one end broken as if a<br> force had cut the links. Under her coat glimpses of what may be<br> quilted armor is seen. She is wearing a belt pouch that seems<br> stuffed.<br><br> Actions? Comments?<br><br> Next Update..Monday??<br><br> GM: A good place to stop. I still have 2 more projects.
