Dorhak
saw the small creature, the one Raki described as a
lizard. It's too
bad he had to get rid of it. It might have
been useful at the
forges. But be rid of it he did. He wasn't
especially afraid
of the fire. Though he doesn't like to be
burned, an it's
just better to be careful, dwarves are pretty
much used to the
fire. Humans are such wimps around fire.

The
ugly dwarfs eyes get quite large, however, when he sees
the
'offerings'. The first thing he does is head toward the
pile.
Anything of value he can find and stuff into his pack,
he will.
Jewelry, Jewels, then gold...in that order. Careful
not to make it so
heavy that it slows him down.

Finally! A chance to make some gains! His first since
leaving the
warrens.

Z'leyra suggests. "Don't take so much that it will slow you
down, but load
yourselves up with what wealth or preferably
magic we can
return to the Kameri, no doubt some we will keep.
Anyone have good
ideas of how to sneak out without getting
spotted? Perhaps
someone can make a litter or travois for
carrying the
bodies and cargo easier?"

As a
master Jeweler and Weaponsmith she helps sort stuff for
people to take,
discarding and putting to one side the less
valuable gems,
jewels and weapons that wouldn't be worth
weighing ourselves
down with.

Z'layha stares at the others rummaging through the loot.
"This
is...isn't right! You loot our things like bandits!"

Fuk
who piles in jewels and jewelry into his pack looks
up. He
glares briefly at Mae then at Z'layha as he stuffs
stuff in his
pockets. "I am only getting stuff to sell for
Lucria after being
a victim here. For him and his family.
It is bad enough
we can't take his body back."

Z'leyha shakes her head, "stop this ...isn't right. Do
you steal from
graves as well? We spent many years and years
sending things to
them..and you take it in minutes."

Maelorna's gaze narrows and she balls her hands up into fists,
but keep them as
hidden as she could as Fuk makes his accusatory
statement.

"Nothing had been done, we only spoke. I was afraid that
I
had done something
wrong by asking him to do something for me."
as she
sighs,

Mae
sighs, 'it wasn't worth it, the damage was done and that
one would never
accept her.' she thought ruefully, even after
hearing him talk
about indulging with her.

The
room of treasure she looked at and moved as quick as she
dared, to look
about. Not much piqued her interest and she
just picked up a
belt and a necklace.

She
just wanted out, of this place, to find an inn and a
nice hot bath and
perhaps someone to indulge with.

Already she could feel it, the hunger, but as of yet, she
could ignore
it. But how long?

Kiet
is still quiet and mourning. He still can't believe that
Kell is
gone. He tries to still participate, like following
Dorhak to take on
that fire lizard, but his heart just isn't in
it. Which
was why he was late, not that he will admit anything.
It does remind
him, however, that Kiet needs to keep his head
about him.
The group needs everyone at their top form to
survive
this.

Kiet's
not really in the mood to dig thru the pile of treasure,
so he decides to
keep watch and talk to Raki. "Thank you for
carrying
Kell." he tells him. "I really don't want to leave
him here.
Nobody should be left here."

Raki
nods to Kiet. "It is my honor. No. I'm sorry
I
don't understand
that word. But I know humans say it i.
But I do see the
reason for taking him back. I know as
you might guess
how it is to be left behind."

Kiet
doesn't say much after this, still thinking about the
times Kell and he
shared.

Raki
replies to Z'layha. "I suspect your people were
fooled by the gods
or your leaders. In this place we
have no value for
it. It is useless. Imagine this cave
times 14 or 15
we've tossed to the lava. In your world
it could give my
people wealth for their goals. What they
take now may
hinder it a bit. If they were to escape."

Z'layha shakes her head and place a hand on her stomach.
She rushes out and
down the tunnel a bit to vomit. Clearly
the culture shock
is a bit too much.

Fuk
exits with pockets of loot and looks down to see
Z'layha sick and
feels guilty slightly. He turns to Raki.
"Can you
..affect memories?"

Raki
shrugs, "possisble why?"

Fuk
lowers his voice. "If we can reset her mental
picture of this
place. I'm not sure that would help
her or
not." The constable looks to Z'leyra who
heard the
conversation and wonders what she thinks.
Should her sister
leave her with shattered dreams?

Z'layha wipes her mouth and moves back toward the
party.

As the
others talk inside Fremea and Arawn scan the
treasure. In
the huge pile of hundreds of pieces of
jewelry there are
no magical aurae at all. But both
find 4 metal
helmets, 3 bastard swords, 1 short sword and
4 daggers that
have magical aura. Those items are taken
and bagged.
Arawn wonders why a culture that would send
so much gems and
jewelry would not imbue magic but there
is no time to
study the items found.

Z'layha sees Arawn stuff one metal helmet in Fremea's bag.
"We've not
sent those things in 8 or 9 generations."

Raki
shifts Kell and turns away. "We must leave.
Eventually they
will see Zin missing and look for
him. This
world is small it won't take long. All
that time talking
in the other cave might've doomed us
already.
Let's move."

Raki
takes the group forward down the long hall about 150
feet. He
stops to listen then moves on. The tunnel bends
right and slightly
up a incline of a few degrees. The
temperature here
is a bit hotter as the tunnel shrinks
to only 6 or so
feet wide. The light here is dim as
lichen is
sparse. Up ahead it looks like a side passage
to the
left.

Raki
stops about 30 feet to passage and listens then
nods and moves
forward. The party passes the side
passage to the
left that fades into darkness.

Another 75 feet up the tunnel straightens up and
for about 300
feet. The party notices another side
passage this time
to the right. Raki waves a newly
formed 3rd hand
and listens for what seems like 3-4
minutes. The
sounds in this place are virtually
gone aside from a
rock pebble falling or sound of
walking party
members. But here the sound is a bit
different. A low
human is heard. Concentrating it
almost sounds like
whispers.

Raki
nods and waves the party forward to pass the
right passage
quickly. Raki leads the group another
50 or so feet
before whispers. "That last passage
leads to the
greater area of my people. We must be
alert and
quiet. Few of us come this way as there is
little value here
anymore."

Raki
moves down the hall another 30 feet then the tunnel
bends left and
right then left again. The tunnel straightens
up into a passage
that is about 500 feet. Raki points to
the end.
"End of this passage we just go left and run
as fast as we can
to the stairs. But that." He points to
a bright
spot about 250 feet down. "Is the opening
I talked
about. So how do we cross?"

The
tunnel itself is pitch dark aside from the open
area. The
tunnel here is 8-12 feet wide and 8-10 feet
high. As the
party gets to the open area light from
some source shines
on the wall opposite and down the
hall about 5-10
feet.

The
party notices in front of Raki the floor to the
open area aka the
window to the large cave, has a small
stone ledge only
about 8-10 inches high. The top of this
'window' has some
rocks hanging down maybe every 3-4
feet but its not a
constant barricade.

Smells
of fire and sulfur fills the tunnel from the
window area.
For Z'leyra who is still affected by
her phobia the
smell of other things mixes badly.

The
window itself spans the right side about 48-50
feet.

Raki
looks to the others. "I hope you all have a plan
as this is the
only way pass."

Z'layha whispers, "no its not."

The
party turns to the Kameran Shaman.

Z'layha continues, "Lucria tells me that Kell says there
is another
way."

The
party turns to stare at Raki.

Rai
doesn't look surprised. "Kell did mention it.
But it is
more...dangerous. I figured you all had
some clever way
past with that magic stuff you use."

Fuk
places a hand on his sword, "spit it out."

Raki
turns to Fuk. "Spit what?"

Fuk
groans, "explain!"

Raki
shrugs, "I don't even know if it even exists any-"

Raki
glares at the wall nearby and shrugs "Fine. It
does I
guess. It has been centuries. Back at that
passage that went
left. Leads to a small cleft that
has a lava
tube. A lot of crawling. But the hard
part is mid way
there is a open lava pit. A lava
bench or rock way
or whatever you call it, stretches
across it.
But it is at best brittle and hard to
cross unless you
have good balance. One false step
and your a part of
the lava. I'm sure Kiet and Unali
from what my
memories of Kell tell me could handle it.
But the
others?"

Comments?

Next Update..
Saturday...

GM: A small
update for now. Since no one has given ideas
on how to cross here I can't go forward. keep in
mind the shifters can see virtually anything and
magic has low chance of success here. For the
window think of it as a movie balcony that over
looks the ground and area. It is fully open and
no railing. If have questions I can answer them
before Saturday. If not enough stuff to move on
then I'll wait till next week.

May the Fourth be with you (May 4th - Star Wars day).

GM:
Treasure. I only grabbed the magical items and will
consider that party treasure UNLESS someone grabs the
said items. Everything else will be personal grabs.
If you did not post you grab stuff then none is taken.
Some have and so noted. Since based on those posts
and emails it was personal grabs its personal not
party treasure. To clarify none of the jewelry/gems/jewels
seem to have no magical value. For those who grabbed
gear I'll figure out what is taken and list it later
for your sheets. There is no time to study every item.
Deadline for treasure grab is Saturday. If amount taken
is not determined 'grab a heap' whatever that means
I'll determine it randomly.

Dorhak: grab jewelry, jewels (no gold at all on room)
Mae : belt, 1 random necklace
Fuk : heaps of jewels and jewelry

Party/Magical items grabbed:
Metal Helmets: 4
Bastard Sword: 3
Short Sword : 1
Daggers
: 4

Reminder: All weapons are 100% Kameran metal. or in this case mostly with
a bit of reshapped shaper :)
