[New Stuff]

[Febris 9th,
1635TH]
[Time: 5:01
pm]

[Phase 5]

Arawn
glances behind him and sees Pyan down being
helped by
Z'layha. His gut is to run to help but he
knows his job is
here and now. He reads the runes
and grabs his wand
in one hand and cryx in the other.
He begins to speak
the words to dispel the ward. He
can't believe it
is just that easy.

The
Alfar can feel the magic soar from him but he looks
around for any
change. The runes are still glowing.

The
projection flickers and smiles. "Sorry try
again."

Arawn
feels his stomach rolling. Could even a mere
mortal stop magic
from the gods themselves? Is it even
possible?
Even if the High Elder was here could he helps
do it? A low
god would equal one High Elders in power.
Arawn sighs and
considers his options.

Fremea
flies forward raising her bow at the captured
shifter in the
hands of Raki. If she fires she could hit
Raki. A
simple arrow would not stop him regardless. But
se flies forward
but Raki raises a hand to block her.

Mae
flies forward as well and stops when she sees
the winged Fae
stop. She wants a new pet. Why aren't
they getting
closer?

Unali
twirls her daggers like a professional and
holsters
them. She pulls a bag from her shoulder as
she approaches
Pyan and Z'layha. She digs in her bag for
the healing
talisman and pulls it out.

Arawn
glances behind and sees Unali by Pyan. He feels a bit
of regret and hope
he doesn't disappoint the others. But
if Unali is here
then the shifters must've been dealt with
so he should have
plenty of time.

The
two shifters on the slope writhe and squirm in
the lava. As
their bodies peel, burn and disassemble.

Raki
releases the captured shifter and pulls his arms back.
As he does he
turns. "It is too late. They are coming. Run
now!"
With that Raki runs past Fremea and Mae. With a sudden
burst of speed he
rounds the corner.

Seeing
that the enemies are down and the lava is increasing
its flow Z'leyra
calls out "Time to leave!", grabs Pyan in a
way that she can
both apply pressure to reduce or stop the
bleeding and carry
or help carry the wounded friend to safety.
Once set she heads
up past the wards trusting Arawn to have done
what needed to be
done for us to pass the wards safely.

But
Unali grabs Z'leyra's hands to wait.

Kiet
watches the shifters die in agony and feels little.
The power these
beings have just to abuse them is such
a waste.

Dorhak
however scowls. Something is off here. He can
feel the tremble
under his feet. Sure the lava is now
about half leg
height but this is more. He scans the
slope, the walls
and passage behind him. Something is
not right.
He has seen this before.

[Phase 6]

Arawn
tries to rack his mind on the meaning of the
runes. It
could mean at least three different things.
Why must the gods
be so cryptic? He glances to the
projection and
opens his mouth to ask.

"Yes." The projection answers before he can ask it.
"That which
is you."

Unali
places the talisman onto Pyan. She hopes the
new healing will
not do much but her gut tells her
there is less
risk. The green magical energy leaves
the talisman and
swarms over the latest wound by the
shifters. It
begins to heal a bit more than halfway.

Fremea
sees shadows at the rock 'window'. Shadows that
seems to be
closer. If the shifter has used some subsonic
call, Raki must be
correct. There is no use fighting hundreds
if not thousands
of them. She places her bow back on her
shoulder and turns
to fly after Raki.

Raki
flies down the passage and ends up at the bottom of
the slope
hovering. Below his feet he sees the lava
now tumbling out
like a small river. A pool of a foot or
so is at the
bottom with what looks like the remains of
the two dead
shifters. He glances up and figures he has
maybe 5 feet
flight above the lava but if the heat affects
him he could fall
into it. "It's too late!" He yells
to those at the
top of the slope.

Mae
watches the two pass but her heart pounds. She can
feel the throb of
her neck vein as she can sense the life
from the shifter
only 50 or so feet away. It would only
take a few seconds
to fly and take a snack or take a pet.
What harm can a
simple snack do? But then the first of four
shifters emerge
from the rock 'window' the group was at
before. In
various forms of humanoid and aerial style
configurations. They stare at the half demon and begin
to move her
way. With that she turns and flies after
the Fremea and
Raki.

Arawn
hears Raki yell that is too late. Arawn raises
the wand and Cryx
once more ready to try again.

Z'leyra feels Pyan's pulse and feels it strong. He
is still
moderately wounded but not fatal. She tries
to wake the hunter
up.

Pyan
rouses within a second or two and looks around.

Kiet
watches Kell aka Raki look worried for the first
time since meeting
him. If it is too late there is
little they can
do. The acrobat glances at Arawn still
kneeling by the
wards wondering what is taking so long.

Dorhak
watches the shadows of the floor and notice
shadows are
forming shadows. Only a keen dwarf would probably
notice this.
This means the floor and walls are now forming
fissures.
They are very minute at this point but a trained
undergrounder like
himself has seen it before. He has heard
stories by the
great dwarf engineers before. How when some
of the earth
shifts it can diminish the strength of the earth
elsewhere.
He quickly figures out the lava exit may have
de-stabilized the
chamber below their very feet. A chamber
full of
lava.

[Phase 7]

Arawn
realizes that to give a sacrifice means to give
a part of
himself. Some might consider that just magical
energy or
something innately from within. But to him this
can only mean one
thing. A part of his being - his spirit.
Realizing this he
wonders if that is the flaw of the shifters.
Do they have
spirit? Could this be their main waakness to
take down the
wards?

Arawn
stands and repeats the magical words holding the
wand now against
the glowing edge of the Cryx. With
this imbued extra
energy Arawn begins to glow gray-white.
Arawn continues
and finishes the words.

some
of the party turn to watch this light shine down the
corridor.

With a
bit of a rumble that if outside might be called
thunder - a part
of the light that is Arawn divides. It
separates from
Arawn and slams into the Sidh Ward Runes.
The light begins
to fade.

"A partial lowering enabled. Who shall pass?"
the
projection asks
Arawn.

Fremea
reaches Raki's position and flies past him toward
the top of the
slope.

Raki
reinforces his bottom half from the heat with
more mass he can
afford. Then he flies toward the top
of the slope and
lands. As he lands Kiet can see part of
his flesh starting
to dissolve. Raki forms into Kell again
and huffs very
exhausted. "Move! Move!" He gasps.

Mae
rounds the corner and gets halfway toward the bottom
of the
slope. The other two fliers are just a bit faster
than her.

But as
she gets there 5 shifters round the corner in
aerial forms of
various birds of prey. Mae glances back
and hopes she can
get away or she is dead.

Suddenly Kell's ghost forms at the bottom of the lava.
The magnetic
field-plasmatic properties of the lava seem
to coalesce into a
half seen form. Kell looks past
Mae.
"Boo!"

Z'leyra and Mournath help Pyan stand and the hunter
seems able to
move. Z'leyra decides with her armor if
it is too late she
has the best chance of survival. She
waves the party
toward Arawn.

Uncertain Fuk moves toward Arawn who is now n no longer
glowing and
watches the projection, Arawn and the diamond
crystal
things. He stops and is uncertain to move forward.

Pyan
moves slowly down the hall toward Arawn and ends
up next to
Fuk.

Kiet
stares at Kell who just played Ghost. A lump in
his throat forms
and he wants to yell to his friend. To
say what he wanted
to always say. But the damned Kell
that is Raki urges
him forward.

Dorhak
realizes the corridor of stone that is maybe 15-20
feet above the
lava pit, based on assumptions of the lava
spillage, is
likely about to collapse. Should he warn the
others or just
create havoc?

[Phase 8]

Arawn
raises his wand hand to the projection to say who
can pass but the
projection stops him with a hand of its
own.

"Accepted. But the one named Raki?" The
projection
sends a mental
question right toward Arawn.

So the
projection can read his thoughts. Maybe that
was the flash of
yellow? Arawn replies back mentally
upholding the one
called Raki.

"Accepted." The projection does this thought process
and
nods all in the
span of a sec. "You have 10 seconds." It
voices for
everyone to hear.

Fremea
flies down the hallway toward Arawn. It is 120 feet
so will take here
even 5-6 seconds. A person walking might
take 10-12
seconds.

Raki
lifts Kiet turns him facing the hall and pushed him
toward
Arawn. "I'll try to hold them off. Move!"

Mae
flies toward the wavering ghost that is Kell. She
wonders if she
could feed from it but there is no time
with the shifters
on her heels. She flies up toward the
top of the slope
and gets about halfway there.

The
shifters move toward Mae and now see Kell. But this
time they are
confused by this thing that is there but
not there.
They slow down and as they do a half dozen
round the
corner. They end up about 30 feet from the
Kell-Ghost and
stare.

Unali
places the talisman in the bag and runs down
the rock
corridor.

Arawn
waves for the party and yells the ward is down but
time is
short.

Kell's
ghost floats right toward the shifters waving
his arms.
"Ohhhhh!!! Ahhhh!!!" But then disappears
as the
field-plasmatic thing the lava allowed fades and
now becomes
unseen.

Z'leyra was about to stand guard with her better armor.
but when the
projection said they only had 10 seconds all
bets were
off. She invokes her boots and runs. As she
does she grabs her
sister with both hands and uses the speed
of her boots to
propel them forward down the hall.

Fuk,
Pyan and Kiet run toward Arawn.

Kiet
sees a boost of speed from Z'leyra and does the
same thing with
his boots. As he does he grabs the dwarf
with one hand as
he is the lightest and pulls him with him.

Dorhak
startled by this sudden turn of events was about
to warn them and
then this smooth-talking acrobat grabs him!
He growls as he
tries to holds onto his shield in hopes
it and his bag
don't fall!

[Phase 9]
[7 Seconds
left]

Fremea
takes the lead and passes the others toward
Arawn and ends up
only about 60 feet away.

The
shifters see Kell-Ghost fade and fly forward
and up the slope
toward Raki. They end up about 10
feet below en
masse.

Raki
realizes even he can't fight this time. He
flies toward Arawn
in hopes to get out of here alive.

Mae
sees Raki pass here and flies toward Arawn. If
he hasn't lowered
the magics this will be a very short
flight
indeed! At least in death there in no hunger.

Unali
runs after Mae.

Below
the slope around the bend dozens of shifters
run toward the
corner to join their allies.

Z'leyra with sister in tow manages to get about as
close as
Fremea.

Fuk
and Pyan run toward Arawn.

Kiet
and a flailing Dorhak run past Fuk.

Update....Saturday...

GM: A short update
for now. I normally would've done
only 2 phases. But I did move to move us along.
At this point though actions could be helpful.
I'll work on it Saturday. Below is my estimations
of positions.

Corridor - 120 feet long.

Arawn - End of Hall -
Safe
Dorhak - Carried by Kiet - 13 feet from Safe
Fremea - Near Arawn - 10
feet from Safe
Kiet - Running w/boots - 13 feet from
safe
Mae -
Flying
- 40 feet from Safe
Mournath- Running
- 60 feet from Safe *
Unali -
Running - 55
feet from Safe *
Pyan -
Running - 50
feet from Safe *
Z'leyra - Running w/boots- 15 feet from Safe
Fuk -
Running - 55
feet from Safe *
Raki -
Running - 65
feet from Safe *
Z'layha - with Z'leyra - 15 feet from
Safe

* Mournath, Pyan, Unali, Fuk, Raki

1 PMR = 10 feet. Most humans running go 30 feet in
3 seconds or 10 seconds per phase. These folks could
be a bit in danger.

Any ideas folks on how to help get them closer in
the last 4 seconds? :)

Above may not match the update section but when I finsihed
I did the math again. Based on PMRs and position. This
is 98% correct.
