OOC: First
official public post. Hi all :)
GM: Ack. Welcome to game you
did fine. I actually did not
get
the post myself. This is a issue wiht list it will
randomly not send posts. This is as GM I check the Archives
to
ensure I didn't miss posts. Pyan's posts when he does
them
often doesn't come to me. Go figure. Unsure why.
Welcome to game!

GM: Ack. Yes best to
send it as text in email so folks can read
it. Not everyone can look at attachments as some email
servers delete them. :) Sorry about the prank on you.
It is
a Rite of Passage everyone here goes through. :)

From Z'leyra: [Re:
Actions]
As quickly as
possible Z'leyra extracts the shrapnel from Raddoks
head and casts her
best healing spell on him thru her staff hoping
to keep him alive
though he may be known as Raddok On-Eye
thereafter.
GM: Ack. This was for
Joke post so Null/Void. Thanks for
playing along. But you really don't have a good tool to
remove
shrapnel. To me a Healing Knife is NOT a scalpel.
To me
they are used for larger slices like cutting off
fingers and such.

From Bess: [Re: Actions]
sorry - guess I

Game #8 -
response to Update 13
OOC: I've tried
twice to send email asking to have Raddok
resurrected, but
they do not seem to have gone through - I can't
find a record of
them in my Sent mail file. (Aaarrgh!) Anyway,
yes! try to
resurrect Raddok - if it makes story sense. I think
it can make sense,
because he was the first (& therefore
unsuspecting)
target of the sniper. He might very well know
something he
doesn't currently remember having heard (or over
heard) - or
perhaps he will remember a pin or other ' Company'
symbol that the
man wore. If these strangers go to this trouble,
they would have
definitely felt there was a need to try, after
all the death that
was already on that ship.

Note to GM: If
resurrection unsuccessful for any reason, I need
to know asap, so I
can find another PC that might work for the
story out of my
overflowing PC binder (all newborn/unplayed), or
roll another new
one (yikes - rolls have to be good to make
interesting). If
you can send a couple clues as to what might
work in the story,
please do (such as a language, being from a
certain country,
or skills that would be useful. Otherwise I'll
look to see what
PCs I have from Marentia, altho getting into
the story that way
will take some creative thought -
GM: Ack. Again best way
to ensure posts go out is check the
Archives (I've explained how to find those already). If
post
went out it'll be there within seconds. UNLESS the
list
is down which happens. My site doesn't update until
I
manually add stuff so that may take 1-4 days. As to
private emails. You can always do a RRQ but I generally
if its
a actions for updates post it here but if not I'll try
to Ack
the email to folks. So it is seen by me. Also
if
unsure I got a email send a msg in Facebook and I'll
reply
yes or not. This is one reason I have chat contacts.:)

From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Arawn's eyes
widened as he saw Raddok's neck erupt in a torrent
of blood, the bolt
a grotesque accoutrement that found
camarederie among
the peppered men strewn across deck. In that
moment he
croaked out a few words, incantations that would
hopefully secure his safety so that he could safely see to
Raddok, the wolf and Ix.

[Energy Shield, max EL on himself and will then move to
assist
Z'leyra with Raddok or any others in immediate danger
of
dying.]
GM: Ack. Voided for Joke
post. Thanks for playing along. :)

From Dorhak: [Re:
Actions]
Well, with the
captain dead and gone, as well as the soldiers
and some employee
sailors, Dorhak was thinking that he might
just have a
solution to paying back his kin. Maybe they could
claim the boat as
their own! It should provide some gold in
reparations.
Of course, Dorhak would take his cut to help
offset his
losses.

standing on
deck all he thinks is that he and his friend just
need to work
things out with these guards. Then...deposit the
coin!

Before the
thought becomes voiced, the distinct sound of a
crossbow
bolt is heard, then 'thwack!' A bolt hits this ships
last living
human. Right in the neck! That had to hurt. Dorhak
isn’t really
certain where it came from, but is at least familiar
with
them. Before he can do much else, though, he hears the
sound then
feels the second bolt heavily glance off his armor.
That'll
leave a bruise. He starts looking around for the source
and that
weird wolf jumps up to take one for the weird human
woman!

Dorhak moves
to hide behind the mast. Pardon, make that
"tactically repositions" himself. More bolts come flying
in and,
damnation!,
one of them hits him again! Ugh! Right in the
side!
He yanks it out and that really hurts! He tosses it aside
and brings
up his shield.

little good
that it does him when the freakish crossbow bolts
start
exploding! This one takes him in the leg and he goes
down.
As they start going off all around and even his kin get
hurt.

in other
circumstances, Dorhak might like one of these
crossbows...
no more now!

in dwarfish
elder he calls for the other dwarfs to "get off
the ship!
Take cover!"
GM: Ack. Great post but
voided. :)

GM: Below may look like joke
update but in fact it has some
parts
before it diverged into chaos. So this is
a
unique update.

-------------------------------------------------------------
[New Stuff]

[Marqi Frisda
23rd, 1636TH; Sivas, Marentia]
[Time: 10:38
am]

Raddok
comes to help Arawn with the dead and comment son
so many dying -
before Z'leyra and Kiet arrive.

"I would save all that I can. I don't know who's guilty at
this point but
there are questions to ask," Arawn replied as he
tied off a
bandage. "And justice reserved for the magistrates
to
decide."

"But if you find it in you to help Raddok," he said,
nodding
his head in the
sailor's direction, "and I tend to the wounded
that would be
appreciated."

The
elder speaks of his health as well as the others.

As he
moved on to the next downed sailor Arawn undid his water
skin, offering to
the dwarves along with what food he had on
him. "Please
let them know we'll see to their needs shortly."

Arawn
tosses the waterskin to the dwarf but doesn't have
time now to sort
through his bags for food. Not yet.
Raddok translates
Arawn's words to the dwarves.

The
elder drinks a good amount but being a good leader
stops himself and
offers the others portions for now.

Arawn
listens to the hasty explanation from Raddok on
what he knows or
doesn't know. Trying to figure out what
is going on
here.

Arawn
shared a genuinely warm smile that was reflected in his
eyes, though
subdued in light of the environment as he waived
away Raddok's
offer to grab his healing kit, the druid having a
nearly fully
stocked one already at hand. "Arawn," he said,
indicating his
name, "Thank you but it's probably best that you
stay around for
now. I could use the help plus some of the
others might be a
bit on edge. Who knows how they might react
to you surprising
them below deck."

Arawn
whispered a prayer under his breath, liquid words
flowing quietly in
the ancient Sidh tongue. His jaw set as he
listened to
surprise attack and what seemed Fremea's arrival.
But he said
nothing, continuing to focus on the wounded while
listening to the
rest of Raddok's story.

"We don't know yet. We can only speculate. But it seems some
of the soldiers
attempted to hijack our dwarf friend so the
possibility of
their being slavers seems high. But when the
others are done
below hopefully we can form a better picture of
things."

[Captain's
Quarters]

Back
at the Captain's quarters before Fremea leaves Unali
speaks out to the
Fae.

"When Mournath tried that case some kind of spell went off.
Is he OK? What is
in there may be important, can you keep it
safe?"

Ix is
there when Unali asks Fremea and wonders if she
should
explain.

[Time: 10:41
am]

Maelorna looks down at the man and can't hide the look of
disdain as his
usefulness as a pet or even a meal is at an end.
'See, the best of
intentions, now if the irritant will just
leave you be, we
can continue helping the ease the suffering of
all this food' the
voice teases. Maelorna closes her eyes '
Just shut up
please, we have enough trouble as it is without
you making it
worse, I promise, once we finish we'll go
hunting but for
now please,' she pleads with the voice. She
looks at Arawn and
sighs, he either didn't notice her or had
chosen to ignore
her.

As for
the wolf, she does her best to ignore the canine, it
wasn't attacking
her from the shadows, growling, nor did it
have any friends,
at least at the moment she was safe from it.

The
wolf growls a bit at Mae but doesn't pounce. Maybe it
smells the love of
cats on her and the dislike of dogs on
her and joins
in?

As Raddok helps Arawn he explains his concerns and wishing
to regain
his gear.

"Is it? I guess that depends on the individual," he
sullenly
replied.
"Don't worry, they'll have someone to translate for
you or else
I'll do so, if they find reason to accept my
offer."

"I can explain your desire to translate for the dwarves and
retrieve
your belongings, though, as this is a crime scene,
you might
find your efforts hampered."

Fremea
dons her annoying dress again as she hears the guards
top deck.
She heads up to the top deck to find the rest of
the party here.

[Time: 10:42
am]

When
the guards arrive Maelorna smiles at a few of them in
recognition, she
keeps her arms folded serenely over her silver
belt, not even
going close to her dagger or crossbow. She can't
help but note the
Captain and with a soft smile she turns to
face
him. She tilts her head letting some of her red hair
fall
over her face,
while her emerald green eyes take him in and she
gives him a
knowing smile, "I have yet to use this weapon other
than
practice," she offers honestly as she wonders how resilient
he might be as a
pet. He certainly was handsome enough '
Perhaps once we
finish helping the disgusting one, we might
see just how much
of a pet he might make little one,' the voice
giggles with
delight.

Mae
doesn't seem to recognize any of the guards as clients.
But then again
most have their own private brothels.

The captain
nods at Mae, "yes I know."

Arawn hears
Damon speaking to the guards.

Arawn had
ignored the arrival of the guard, his effort to
save as many as he could
his dominant concern. However he did
manage to meet Damon's
eye but the quick yet subtle look made
it clear the alfar was
not happy with the situation and was
leaving any answers to
the others to give. He then looked to the
wolf, keeping it in
sight so he could quickly prevent an
unpleasant encounter
between the guards and the beast.

[Second deck]

Ix was
unable to discern the item until Mournath started
fidgeting with it.
When she realized what it was and its
function, she tightened
her grip on her cane, since she was too
late to stop it,
"We have just lost any chance at questioning our
dead captain..."
Being nudged by Fremea caught her attention and
she sighed, resigning to
the fact that there was nothing she
could do. She
couldn't bring the man's soul back. She does turn
to follow Fremea,
leaving Unali and Mournath in the captain's
quarters.

When Unali
hear the remark from Ix, she wonders what the she
meant and at the first
opportunity will ask her "What was that
effect from the
Captain's case, you think?"

Upon
discovering the dwarves, she touches the fae's arm and
motions up to let her
know she was heading above deck. She
carefully makes her way
up the stairs and straight to the wolf,
ignoring the guards for
now. Gently stroking the wolf, he speaks
softly to it in her
native language, but it was a good guess on
anyone's part that she
was likely saying 'good boy'.

[Time: 10:42
am]

Arawn
is able to save a few of the sailors but it seems
the guards are not
able to be saved. The guards watch
the wolf intently
ready to attack if it attacks. They
look to their
sarge for why a wolf is on a ship and one
with red
eyes? Then Ix come son deck and the guards watch
her as she crosses
to hug the wolf.

Raddok
feels the hairs on the back of his neck go slightly
rigid. He
glances around sensing something. But no one
seem sot be
watching him. To the right he thought he
saw a glimpse of
metal high on that roof over there but
he shakes his
head. A bit of mild paranoia creeping in
after the
slaughter just now. Yet oddly he feels like
something walked
on his grave. Raddok shivers and goes back
to helping
Arawn.

[Second
deck]

The
two guards enter and notice the open doors to the right
and with swords
raised move down the hallway. The berths
seem to be
empty. But at the end they see Mournath and Unali
in the
office. "You there! Put down those papers and
go topside
now! By order of the King's Guard!"

Unali
ignores them as they speak. Mournath begins to move
to the door and
down the hall obeying the orders. Not even
looking up she
says, "Who is your commanding officer?"

One
guard raises his sword. "Sarge Tilo-"

Unali
waves a hand in dismissal. Showing it doesn't matter
who he is.
"Can you get him down here. He has to see this. I
am Unali, I am
sure he knows who I am.".

"We'll sort this all out later. For now let's go
topside."

But
the other guard leans in and whispers something. The
talking guard's
eyes widen then glances at his friend. Then
abruptly they both
leave.

[Top
deck]

Mournath reaches the top deck and sees the party as well
as the dead
bodies. He pales at the death and wonders what
is going on.
Those who see Mournath stare in amazement as
he is here?
Last time they saw him he was in the Shaper
Prison and left
thanks to his "test".

Both
guards go topside and the one who was shocked by
his friend
speaks. "There is a woman below who demands to
see the
Sarge."

His
other friend shakes his head. Just as the Sarge
moves forward a
bit annoyed at being summoned. The
guard says,
"Sorry Sarge. This one needs the Captain."

The
Sarge stops, "I don't care get her up here now!"

The
guard who stopped the Sarge moves to the Captain and
whispers to the
Captain. The Captain nods but his expression
remains
stoic. "I'll go. You two go down below and ensure
the bottom is
clear."

Raddok
hears all this Marentian words and has no clue what
is going on.

Raddok
is both relieved and worried when the soldiers
come on board.
"Now what?" he says softly to (Arawn) the elf
he's been helping.
"It's good to see the authorities - or is
it?" he
inquires. He knows he'll have to tell what's a very
confusing story to
these foreign soldiers. His thoughts are
many - 'What
language will they understand? Cerulean? Fomorian?
Salaqi? I need to
talk to the dwarves, but will they let me?'

Kiet
frowns at the word Fomorian.

He
turns to his companion. "I need to talk to the dwarves -
to find out what's
been going on. After all, I never knew they
were on board!
Will the soldiers let me? Men are dead and these
dwarves were
apparently to be slaves. This is very bad. I need
to help the
dwarves - to translate for them, if needed."

He
starts to move to retrieve his book, keeping his hands
obviously empty of
weapons. "I'm getting my book - it will show
what I was doing
before this all started. My weapons & kit are
in my cabin. It's
two doors from the Captain's cabin. I want
them if we're made
to leave the ship." He turns to the elf,
beseechingly.
"Please understand - it's all I own in the world -
pretty much,
anyway."

Sarge
Tilo look sot Raddok and speaks in Donaran though a bit
slower.
"We'll get statements soon. Get your book."

[Second
book]

The
special elite Captain enters the Captain's quarters
and loks at
Unali. "Yes?"

Once
the guard captain is present, Unali will explain that the
vessel was
suspected to serve as a smuggling ship to smuggle
dwarven slaves and
when she went to confront the captain
(pointing to the
body on the ground) he was clearly trying to
get rid of the
evidence (pointing to the burnt paper). "He
attacked me on
sight and this sailor (Mournath) stepped in to
save me from his
sword. I am certain that Aren would be
interested in
learning what happened here today."

"The dwarves that were in the hold seem to have been taken
as slaves. It
would be good to find out where they were taken
and where they
were intended to be shipped to. These notes seem
to be ruined, but
maybe a good navigator can make sense of the
maps?"

The
captain crosses his arms. "Unali. I've heard of
you.
You cleared a lot
of Climan scum from this city. I was there
doing your clean
up work. I'm not authorized to say you
should remain here
or not. Technically Sarge Tilo is. I
do rather...unique
jobs for the crown."

Unali
looks up and stops her work. She mentions she is
friend of Duke
Aren's and she needs to contact a Commander
Vox. Unali
knows this captain and as he said he is for
more unique
military operations. But Vox is a intelligence
man working
directly under the Duke for this county.

"Vox? You pull strings that are highly connected."
He
glances around the
room and at the dead captain. "Fine.
I'll send him
here." He turns to leave then turns back.
"Just
don't...mess with
stuff that may be evidence."

Just
before the captain climbs the stairs the guard from
the hold comes
up. "The hold has a few bodies. None are
alive."

Unali
hears this and crosses around the desk to the door
and asks him to
verify the man in binding is dead. "Yes."
The guard
says. The captain looks at Unali who shows
a bit of
surprise. But before he can ask Unali slams the door
to the
office - as best she can as its slightly busted
from their
forced entry.

Unali scowls. The man was alive! her blows to knock
folks out
are precise that should not kill. This makes
no
sense. Then she hears the guard's muffled voice speak
about 2
dwarves in the galley. Could those 2 have sneaked
down below
and killed him? Unali curses.

The captain comes up on deck. "Sarge Tilo get every
one of our
men off ship. Post on docks guard for now.
No one is to
leave. Instead of questions we'll have
to delay
that. Send 2 men to get food and water for these
..." He sniffs the air. "..these
ex-prisoners. If a
any are
still alive fetch a wagon to get a healer. But
it looks
like Z'leyra has things in hand. Send word to
the garrison
we'll need a wagon for the bodies."

Sarge Tilo frowns. "But this is not protocol. We
need to ask
questions before they can change their stories
and exchange
ideas for a single story."

"Do as ordered. You there." He points to one of the
guards with
crossbows. "Filheck I need you to do
something." He walks forward and whispers.
"Fetch
him and
bring him fast. " The man nods and salutes.

Still a bit annoyed Sarge Tilo orders his men to
the
docks. "They will have questions."

The special specs captain nods. "I'm sure they will
I see the
folks staring now." He watches the street.
"Just
blame it on a rival ship and these people came to
help
out."

"But clearly this isn't the case!" Tilo starts but
then shuts
up when the Captain mounts his horse as well
as the elite
military other 2 men. Since one is riding
off and one
is chasing the officer. The captain ignores
Tilo and
rides off.

[Time: 10:46
am]

The
party watches as the guards depart or place sentry
positions on the

Update....Saturday...?

GM: Hope all
enjoyed the Sniper Interruptus Episode. At least
Bess hopefully won't try to kill me now. :) So at this
point
Unali has pulled a "I know big wigs" string. So this
will
go fast from here instead of the tedious Q&A by the guards.
Next update Vox will arrive and you guys can explain what
is going on. Remember Dorhak is technically leader so
should do a lot of it. ;) Vox will decide on what he
under
the power of the realm will do based on how you all explain
and RP it. Hope this update is coherent as I'm on a period
of low sleep lately. :) So brain deadish last 2 days.

GM: Alignment -
I've noticed some odd alignment fubars in
the update. You probably won't notice. But I try to keep
the indentation at same column. So will fix I hope for next
update.

GM: Crossbow -
I've heard of wanting that magical crossbow the
sniper had. It would be a expensive mana wise item.
Magic
is Guided Missile (to each arrow adds up mana) though I'd
really prefer a DND style way to find target unless archer
saw his target - so would need a item but I cheated it for
the prank. Naptha and the fire bomb is harder but not too
impossible. Thig tried to do some such things. But
Naptha is unstable and risky in itself. So could said magical
crossbow that adds a bit of extra range for accuracy be
done? Technically yes. Would it take a long time to even
get say a slew of 10 arrows. Probably. So yes
technically
its possible but would need major work. When one can use
more simple spells like Fire Arrow or such. So a bit
inefficient.
