[Recap]

From Pyan: [Re: Actions]
Pyan watches the
wolf as it seems to be the biggest....

ooc: I guess the
crossbow is more of a status item.
GM: Ack. Good
post. But keep in mind you do know Marentian
very
well so can converse in it fully. :) As to crossbow
its a
half-cheated item for the joke. It isn't impossible
to
make but expensive. A hunter like yourself could use it
but
the guided arrows would need some link as your not a magical
person
maybe like a telepathic link. Wizards would need to
generate said arrow's magic.

From Raddok: [Re:

Game #8 - for
Update #14

OOC:
ppppppfffffffffttttttt!!!!!!!! (nuff said, but - lol -
you got me!) I'll
give our GM a good bodily shake when I catch
him, but otherwise
just - very relieved! LOL (& for the wolf! -
thank
goodness whew)

Raddok feels the
warmth of Arawn's introduction, and...
GM: Ack. Glad you took
it in good jest. :) Good post.

From Bess: [Re: Joke]
ARGH! (but I
forgive you - LOL) - you have me feel a part
of the
"family" now. I totally missed any clue you left; I
will re-read the
post (naivety indeed - lol)
GM: Ack. :) The binary
was in the email but not the web
version. But seriously I do lay clues/hints in updates
over
the long run. Arawn is one who seems to trap every
word I
type and come back to remind me 5 years later. :)
Some
are pure red herring and some are true clues. :)

From Bess: [Re: Updates]
Sorry - lost count
of updates - the post-joke response update
I sent is for
Update #15 (sorry - ppfftt!)
GM: Ack. The numbers are
meant to be a way to figure out
what
may be lost. But most just hit reply and use the
original subject line. But I can figure out very well
by the
context. So its not a big deal. Nice thing is that
actions can be done anytime and retroactively handled.

From Mae: [Re: Wolf]
Maelorna rolls her
eyes at the wolf, 'Oh look, yet...
GM: Ack.

From Dorhak: [Re:

Dorhak sees

food, Dorhak calls out "Would you mind...
GM: Ack. A good leader-style

[New Stuff]

[Marqi Frisda
23rd, 1636TH; Sivas, Marentia]
[Time: Minutes
before...]

The
guards arrive on ship.

Pyan
watches the wolf as it seems to be the biggest danger at
the moment.
He admires the animal and thinks what it most be
like to run on all
fours. As the guards arrive and it becomes
apparent they are
only going to talk in some strange language
he turn his glaze
sky works, looking for Corona.

Yet
Corona is gone from the sky. Pyan widens his view and
can finalty see a
large white bird to the south west where
Kiet and Z'leyra
ran. Corona must be going to help them.

But as
the guards speak Pyan is happy to understand every
word as it is
Marentian.

[Time: 10:46
am]

by now
Arawn is fully visible once the spell ends.

Raddok
feels the warmth of Arawn's introduction, and says
"I'll be
right back." He nods at the sergeant, smiling to show
his thanks as he
retrieves his book - and a small net bag of
apples that he had
stashed behind the crate he had been sitting
on while reading.
There are nearly a dozen of the plump, juicy
fruits in the bag
& he hands it to the sergeant, nodding toward
the hungry
dwarves. He then returns to assist Arawn, after
checking to see
that the wolf had not moved.

"Tell me what you need done," he tells Arawn, kneeling
to
gently lift up a
wounded sailor for bandaging. "I'll do whatever
I can to
help," & he nods toward the injured around the two of
them. As he
settles to follow Arawn's instructions, he mutters,
half to himself.
"I'm done with this ship. What they have done
to these dwarven
folk is - infuriating. I want to know what's
going on
here." He looks sadly over his shoulder to his dead
sailor friend.
"What could be possibly worth these innocent
lives?"

Raddok
watches the interaction between the guards and others.
He wonders why the
guards don't help with the wounded? Surely
they have some
basic first aid? Then the Sarge and the tall
captain seem to
argue. Then as quickly as they arrive he
guards leave the
ship and stand on the docks.

Maelorna rolls her eyes at the wolf, 'Oh look, yet another
mongrel,' the
voice laughs, 'maybe this one will attack you
when you're
sleeping, oh maybe I can help!' it teases. She
hated canines at
the best of times and those in this city seem
to truly have it
out for her. The cats were just as bad, well,
perhaps the two
back at the brothel. Speaking of which, where
was the disgusting
one?

She
looks at Arawn for an inclination of how to treat the
guards and finds
he's little help as he's ignoring them. The
sailor, Raddok was
it? Now he had potential, definitely a bath
and change of
raiment. Maelorna sighs as she shakes her head,
there was time
enough for that later.

"By the Court, he spawned more?" she mutters softly as she
finally realizes
the other dwarves are here.

Dorhak
sees Moreloch (um, Moornaught? um, no! Mournath!
That’s it!)
Mournath come up on deck and recognizes him
immediately.
Here? He's here? After disappearing for so
long, how did he
end up here? Surely the gods have a hand in
this. Or
one, in particular.

As it
seems we are stuck here on board the ship, Dorhak
figures we might
as well make it an enjoyable time, little as
he wants to
remain, though he does have an idea how to profit
from this.
Before the guards leave to get the food, Dorhak
calls out
"Would you mind bringing a wee cask of ale and some
mugs for my stout
friends here? They are very thirsty! I’ll
pay for the
cask." He can afford it, though it pains him to
spend it, but it
should return to him in good will with the
other
dwarves.

The
guard looks to the Sarge and the sarge shrugs and waves
a hand as if to
give up.

The
dwarf in red speaks to his friends, and Mae, and says "I
am going to talk
to my kin privately. Please try not to pry.
It would be
rude. " Dorhak motions for all the other dwarves
to join him at the
more remote end of the boat, whatever sailors
call the
ends. The group of dwarves and cloud of body odor head
to the rear of
ship.

Dorhak
first says, in Dvallin, "Thank Dvallin you are all
free."
in Dwarf Elder, Dorhak starts asking them questions.
"Laddies, I’m
sorry for what you have been through, and I’ll
help as best I
can. They are bringing food and drink. In this
land, slavery is
not allowed, so it’s unlikely any of you will
be in
trouble. We are being kept here, though, while the
humans try to sort
things out. I know their language fairly
well, so if you
tell me how you came to be on gods forsaken
vessel, I’ll pass
that on. Do you know what they wanted you
for? Do you
know what country they are from? From what
warrens do you all
hail?"

The
dwarves mutter that all are from Ba'ru. They were
not a warren but a
small village in the hills. Ba'ru has
some open minded
areas where giants to Fae to dwarf are welcome.
Sometimes they
travel to the L'p'nth mountains every few
years to work in
the mines they have hidden away. They had
wives and small
ones. But they - the raiders - only wanted
to take the strong
males - and the elder one. IT was no secret
they lived in the
hills so they must've found us fast. The
elder dwarf lowers
his face in shame. We found barrels of
rum on the nearby
road. We figured a wagon lost a wheel.
Left it due to
hard riding. They took it and it was tainted.
Next thing they
know they were on board.

Suddenly the others start to realize and panic. They
begin chattering
about what about their loved ones? Were
they killed or
just left behind?

The
Elder explains that they will go back soon. Then
he explains they
don't know which land these sailors seem
to
represent. But most sailors spoke Ba'ru. The guards
rare if ever spoke
to them other than to toss food at them.
They were told
they would be needed to do some mining but
for who or where
they have no idea. Once they did the
work which would
take only a few weeks they would be set
free. The
elder dwarf looks around a bit confused. "I
don't now why they
wanted us. I mean any human can mine.
But I suspect
based on him." He nods to Raddok. "They
needed dwarves for
a special reason. For what I have no
idea."

After
they talk, Dorhak gives them a suggestion. "Lads, you
have all been
trespassed against, as have I. They not only
tried to abduct
me, but destroyed some of my property I was to
sell for some fine
gold! I intend to get repaid, and came here
to force that
repayment. But I have an idea we might all benefit
from."
Dorhak winks at them, and lowers his voice. "We claim
this boat for our
trouble, then sell it for the highest price we
can. That
one human with the funny beard.. .his name is Damon,
and I think he
knows a lot about these boats. He should be
able to help tell
us how much the boat is worth and might even
know to whom it
can be sold. I suspect we could get
considerable gold
from this if we work it right."

He
looks over at the others and says "some of these humans
are my
companions. I’ve known them for several months. I’m
sure they, well,
most of them, will want to help out." He
whispers again and
says "but don’t annoy the wee faerry. She’s
got a
temper!"

Dorhak's annoyed at the attack. There seems to be nobody left
to question nor is
there a way to understand what they were
doing. Speaking of
the faerry with the temper, she's got some
explaining to
do. Especially since now there is no way to get
payback from the
ones responsible.

After
talking to the other dwarves, Dorhak moves a bit away
from the.

As
Dorhak talks to the other dwarves Damon slips down
below decks
quietly. He gets to the captain's door and
knocks on
it. He pops his head in and notices the dead
Captain and
Unali. He raises a eye brow. "Your doing?
Nevermind.
What do we have here?" He enters and Unali
seems to welcome
him as a captain might be able to make
some head or tails
from this mess of papers.

Ix
watches all this and pets the wolf. The wolf seems to
stare at Mae but
maybe its her red hair?

[Time: 10:55
am]

A lone
rider escorts a wagon with two men toward the
ship. The
two men haul the dead onto the wagon and plop
them down so they
can be taken away.

Some
of the sailors who fled and swam to the other ship
get their nerve
back and actually return and speak to
the guards.
>From the ship the conversation is easy to
hear and it seems
they complain that suddenly they were
on deck and next
they were being slaughtered. Sarge Tilo
takes statements
from the half dozen sailors.

[Time: 11:04
am]

Another rider comes to the ship laden with bags and
a cask of
ale. Two guards help haul the food and
ale to the deck
for the dwarves. A couple of the dwarves
drink the
waterskins but spit out in disgust. "Water?!"
Then the guards
open the cask and let the small men drink
the ale. Hot
bread, warm meats from bird to meat sticks
are sorted out,
messy unsorted now assortments of plates
of vegetables and
fruits are also given out.

One of
the dwarves looks at Ix and grunts and waves
her forward for
the girl and wolf to eat and drink as well.

Down
below Damon sorts through the papers and maps.
"This here is
part of the burnt mess. But look here
at this odd land
shape. I am certain this must be
Vahear. It
has that distinctive circle like peninsula."

Damon
stretches and decides to check the captain out.
He rolls up
sleeves and checks inside pants. He grunts
when he lifts the
left leg and points to the captain's
ankle.
"That tattoo is Fomorian for sure. It symbolizes
the island.
Those guys rarely get here in the sea of
tears.
Usually its single sailors but not a full ship.
It just isn't done
as its too far from home. I've dealt
with plenty in
bar...exchanges...to recognize the tat.
He was from the
island or works for them."

Unali
wipes her face. She has gathered pieces and
tatters of ripped
scrolls. But it is a language she
does not
understand. She understands the language but
not the written
form.

[Time: 11:06
am]

The
last of the bodies are taken away on the wagon
covered up.
As the wagon departs a lone rider rides
toward the ship
and dismounts. The man in his late
30s with sandy
white blond hair stands about 5 foot
5 and only around
110 pounds. He speaks to the guards
and then boards. A
pouch is at his side as well as a
sword in a
sheath. His green eyes blaze as he boards
and takes in the
scene. He looks small but some get
the impression he
is agile and could fit nicely in
with a group of
thieves.

"Vox. Where is Unali?" He simply says.

A
guard yells from the docks. "Captain's quarters
on second
deck!"

Vox
nods and ignores the others and heads down below
to the captain's
quarters. He enters and notices the
dead captain and
Damon. "Unali. Calling me out this
openly
is...risky. I shouldn't even be here but you
are a fine server
to the realm. Can we speak in front
of
him?" He nods toward Damon.

Captain Damon extends a hand, "Captain Damon at
your
service."

Vox
stares at his hand like he has mud on them and
ignores Damon to
look at Unali.

Update....Wednesday...

GM: A shorter
update than wanted. I thought about delaying
it but figure something is better than nothing. Due
to some storms and running out of time I figure this
is good enough. You guys can fill in the time gaps
and do rp if need be. The healed sailors are needed
at the docks to be questioned once healed. Based on
what Unali explains or lets released I'll quickly move
on with Vox's orders/decisions. For now storms seemed
to have delayed a bit of this update. Due to time and
storms I paraphrased a lot of dwarf replies for speed.

GM: Last update
looks like joke update. Keep in mind they
are distinct updates. The top part IS identical
but after a certain point it is a new update. So
if you ignored/skipped last update may want to read it.

GM: For new and
old. I know we have a group of strong players
that at times seem to take up space and actions. I know
healers have a hard time since healing is done by the
stronger ones before others can react. Don't ever feel
swayed by this. If your not sure what do or say no
need to post. Even OOC stuff is better than nothing. You
do not need to post daily or weekly. For some who are super
quiet this helps let me know your alive. But for most part
it is not required. No action is stupid. Like even
Pyan's
post was good enough it did something. ;) It may seem that
not everyone has something to do. I try to make the adventure
so everyone has action chances. It is your opportunity to
take those chances. Even RPing to know each other and get
to know what is going on is fine. Anything is
appreciated.
I never force folks to post period. I now we all have busy
lives. So keep this in mind.
