[Recap]

From Raddok: [Re:
Actions]
Apris 10th ~ 2:20
pm

Raddok has gotten
in the habit of wearing his armor much more,
since their
unpleasant surprise with the mermen invasion. He
always is wearing
a weapon now. Today (an even-numbered day -
he carries his
great sword on odd-numbered days) he is equipped
with his shield
and mace. Feeling satisfied after his lunch, &
having refreshed
after bathing/swimming in the sea all the
previous day with
his swimming lessons, he has put on his
leather armor,
leaving the quilted armor beside his great
sword in his
locker. He has gone up to the rear top deck to
watch the sea
behind them, and be near a shadow from the
mast's sails if he
needs to get out of the sun.

He looks around
and notices that very few folks are on the
upper deck. The
only one near him is the seaman at the ship's
wheel.

Apris 10, about
2:26 pm

When the crewman
lookout spots the Sea Giant and....
GM: Ack. Will try to
remember the even/odd day thing for weapons.
If I
forget remind me. :) Good post. Thanks for reminding
me
what a Giant can do with ship rails! I love when players
remind
evil GMs things. :)

From Fremea: [Re:
Actions]
Fremea hears the
call, and again grabs her bow...
GM: Ack.

From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet will kick in
the speed on his boots and do his best
to get on
deck.

If the giant looks
to be attacking, like he draws back the
arm to throw or
thrust the trident, Kiet will fire off all
of his 'shots'
from his ring...maybe it will discourage him.

The giant...not
Kiet...
GM: Ack.

From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet is more than
happy to help train the people that want
to learn
dagger. He's unlikely the best user...ahem...Unali...
but he can
ertainly train the uninitiated.

Kiet has an idea
about training. And maybe just to break ...
..demonstration. "I think it might be instructive for ...
GM: Ack. Awesome I may do this
fight after combat. So will
store
it. Now it makes sense I got Unali's response to
this
in email. All we need now is the Bad Jackson song
playing the knife fight there. :) Kiet can climb up the
hatch
like the gang member from sewer and Unali can
exit
the stairs and charge!

From Dorhak: [Re:
Actions]
The captain is
down below decks in the hold, examining ...

"Pilot!
Turn away from that monstrosity!"
GM: Ack.

From Z'leyra: [Re:
Actions]
Seeing the giant,
Z'leyra yells "To arms!", pulling out her
drum and
casting Orient Self EL0 on herself. Then she casts
Balance
Purification ELmax thru her staff to assist in her
following
attempt to cast Oblivion at her maximum EL thru
her staff at the
giant. She hopes that with her skill and
help from her
ring, staff and spell that she will be able to
overcome the
penalty that the giant' s HPV will make. Either
the giant will
vanish into oblivion...or she will.
GM: Ack. Gee all
that experience lost in a puff!

From Unali: [Re: Actions]
Alarmed by the
whistling, Unali climbs up to deck as quickly
as he can,
her daggers at her side while climbing an drawn
once on deck.
GM: Ack.

From Mournath: [Re:
Actions]
A giant!
Walking...ON the water? Damned, but if I can
survive this it
will make a tale for the ages in my diary
Mournath has been
practicing his Longbow work and should
have it
close-to-hand] I've no idea that my little barbs will
have any effect on
something this large, but it has eyes by
the gods, surely
they are less protected?

Mournath takes up
position where he can get off arrow shots,
trying to
aim for the giant's eyes. Using the terrain on deck,
he will dive
for cover when needed. [shouted] CAN we take this
thing or
should we try and outrun it! [Mournath waits to
fire until an
order is given one way or the other.]
GM: Ack. A good set of
actions. I figure if you are spear fishing
may need the
bow nearby (lockers) to possibly kill a large
fish for
food. Logical.

From Mae: [Re: Actions]
Maelorna looks at the
giant and shakes her head and...
GM: Ack. Not clear on
actions. But will ask in chat.

From Panthera: [Re: non game
stuff]
Trigger
warning.

Now as we don't yet have
the commitment to each other...
[Other removed since not
game related see archives or
my site for his
entire post]
GM: Ack. Ok folks. This
post was out of the blue and I had
to clarify
it. It seems its a random rant but nit directed
to anyone in
particular. In fact there is a line he posted
the original
(from facebook) missing talking that he wanted
to vent
which wasn't posted to this list. :) That might've
helped
context wise. This is beyond the scope of the game
so it is
welcome to be discussed openly on list or in email or
his
facebook. I just wanted to explain if you missed the
post (likely
since yahoo doesn't play nice) see it on
the
archives. I will not ban or censor stuff like this as its
just
concerns from a loyal player But since it is outside
scope of
game I'll move on from now. But basically the
context is a
Generic Concern not directed to anyone.

From Panthera: [Re: Added
info]
In case it wasn't clear
from my last post I'm asking if you
guys are willing to
treat me
GM: Ack. If I may speak for all I
say we have been doing so.

From Wout: [Re: Reply to
Panthera]
Longer answer, collected
ramblings from my side:

Post as you like, and
expect the same in return.
[Other lines removed but
can be seen on Archives/my site]
GM: Ack. Good example
and appreciated. I hope this helps
him. For full details see archives/list for the rest
of
Wout's post. Just removed for space/non game stuff.
That
last line is what you want basically sums it all up. ;:)

From arawn: [Re: Actions]
[While in Provini
Apris 9th]

OOC: In
addition to training others, resupplying, and
overseeing repairs from
the hailstorm Arawn will look for a
water-tight container
designed to float to carry a book in. If
one
isn't immediately found he'll hire someone to
search
for him, offering a
commission based on success.
------------------------

The high-pitched
whistling alert penetrated below deck, ...
"What'd I
miss?"

[OOC: If there's
time to grab his bow and
qiiver without
slowing him down he'll take them as well]

[OOC:

Arawn will inform
others he'll be preparing a Battle-Mind
sell at max
EL - so should be able to include up to 6 people.
He'll include
Pyan, Raddok, Mae, Ix, Mournath, and Barbasa
unless they
disagree to the spell. If they do he'll accept
any PC
volunteers first followed by the sailors if he has
inclusions
left.]

Scott, you seemed
to indicate that the giant is Kotothi in
messenger. But if
there's any indicator that the giant might
be Elder
instead of Kotothi Arawn will shift his focus to
attempting to
communicate with it using Elven Empathic C
ommunication.

In the meanwhile
he'll continue to prepare for possible
battle by
casting Repel Evil at max EL. This will be followed
by Energy
Shield at max EL. If combat seems imminent then he'
ll start by
Summoning - Water Elemental (Water Beasts) using
the wand. He'll
follow that up with Negate Magic in case the
giant attempts to
use magic.]
GM: Ack. Ack on book
container. Easy to find.

From Arawn: [Re: Battle Mind]
I'll include Kiet in the
spell. I'll remove Barbasa for now
assuming no PC's opt
out.
GM: Ack.

From Raddok: [Re: Actions]
Raddok will gladly
participate in the battlespell as he's
looking for any help he
can
get!
GM:
Ack.

From Panthera: [Re: abuse]
I find it hypocritical
that you can say that to survivors of
Spousal abuse and it's
perfectly ok, but try saying it ABOUT
rape victims is beyond
contemptible? I can't beleive autistics
could be so NTwited.
NTwit (noun)
GM: Ack. Ok. We may need to
reign this topic in a bit. It was
fine when
you as Pyan or you were talking about social
grace and
not wanting to be treating fairly. No big deal.
But when you
talk about abuse and such which as far as I know
NONE of us
spoke of such here then we may be off topic. :)
This list is
for the game and its related topics including
OOC Pyan
stuff if you need advice on interactions. Talking
about abuse
and facebook style-isms cut and pasted here
may not be
so welcome by majority of folks here. If they
want that
sort of thing they should friend you and read it
on
facebook. :) I just don't want a trend started here
with these
kind of things. When you say 'you' in yoru post
who is
you? I see it as generic but others who read it will
be
intimidated and reluctant to post. This is the game list
not a debate
list. :) This is nothing personal to you but
I am just
avoiding tension for such things. I did not
censor the
above. But I will not post such here unless
its related
to Pyan or you posting and needing advice.
Mainly due
to space issues and its not game stuff. So
I'll not
post it here in the update or my site. But again
I won't
censor them they can remain on the list arhcives. :)
Please don't
take this personally I'm just as GM and
moderator
doing this for the health of the game/list. Thanks.

[New Stuff]

[Apris 10th,
1636TH]
[Time: 2:26
pm]
[Turn 1: Phase
0]

Dorhak
is inspecting cargo in the hold wondering how a
rat this size
could do a hole that big in the fruit crate.
He wonders
if getting a cat might not be wise or just to
let that red head
go nuts below. Then the whistles and
alarms go
up. What could go worse this day?

Fremea
hears the call, and again grabs her bow and a quiver
of arrows, flying
straight out of the hold. When she sees the
giant coming, she
wonders if fire would hurt more than multiple
arrows. She will
cast her fire arrows at max EL and fly towards
the giant,
shooting it before it can get to the ship. Maybe even
distract it from
the ship so it cannot damage it.

[Time: 2:26:00
pm]
[Turn 1: Phase
1]

Kiet
activates his magical boots upon hearing the alarms.
In the hallway the
acrobat rushes to his quarters which is
only a few feet
away and gabs his gear. Moving at almost
3 feet per second
he is a blur as he weaves between the
others in the
hallway. He rushes up the stairs so fast
he doesn't even
feel his knees bend. He emerges upon
the top deck and
looks around first to the sailor at the
steering
wheeel. He seems to be glancing behind and
to his left.
Then Kiet hears Corona high above saying
odd things in his
own way. He is circling in tat direction
and then Kiet sees
it. A human walking on water as if
some god. Or
illusion. Kiet closes his eyes and opens
it a few times to
see if this is just a dream. But the
thing is moving
toward the ship. Kiet moves toward that
direction to the
rear of the ship.

Corona
dives toward the water and fires his magical
non-eagle
eyes. The red lance of fire shoots at the giant
but misses him by
inches as the giant moves fast over
the water.
How the bird could miss a 40 foot giant must be
bad luck.

Fremea
was in the hold to grab a fresh piece of fruit
when the alarm
goes off. Her bow is leaning against the
wall with quiver
and she grabs them. Lucky the hold
cargo chute is
open which makes a straight shot from the
hold to the top
deck. But it is a cramped chute and she
requires skill in
levitating/hovering up the chute as she
flies
upwards. Once 10 feet off the deck she glances
around and doesn't
take long to figure out what is going on.
She spots the
giant and groans. She flies straight for it.

The
Giant seems to ignore Corona as if its just another
annoying Sea
gull. He spots the ship moving away a bit
faster than
usual. He wonders if the foul humans are using
some form of
magic. While the ship itself is doing almost
12,000 feet per
hour it is only doing about 3.25 feet
per second which
is even smaller than a cat walking. So
the giant who can
go about 80 feet to the 10 feet of the
ship will catch up
soon enough.

Zol
Zim was near the galley, trying to find some table
scraps from the
fish caught last night, when the alarms
go off. He
isn't sure what is going on but sees the
strange agile one
in a blur run past. He didn't know
humans could run
so fast. He glances around but doesn't
see Ix. So
the wolf lumbers up the stairs and to the top
deck. Upon
seeing the giant, or rather maybe his odor, the
wolf
growls. The wolf then looks around for Ix and
spots her behind
him at the front of the ship. The wolf
does a tender howl
to get her attention.

Unali
watches Fremea fly/hover up the chute. What
now?
She estimates if this is a very bad thing it
will take time to
get to top deck maybe 15 seconds to
run to the top
deck. But that rope hanging down from the
top deck inside
the chute would only take half that
time. She
grins and runs for the chute. She leaps to
the rope and
begins to ascend. It is only about 30 feet
to climb.

The
high-pitched whistling alert penetrated below deck,
reaching Arawn's
sensitive ears. Suddenly roused from the
dreamlands he
instinctively reached under his pillow for wand
and dagger before
spinning to his feet. As he rushed towards
the upper deck he
grabbed his buckler and great helm, slipping
the latter on as
he made for the stairs.

Arawn
is placing his book in his nice new water tight
sleeve when he
hears the alarms. Then a breeze of
some sort hits his
neck. He glances behind him and
sees a blur of
motion enter the room just across the
hallway. The
blur seems to zip in and out and then
back away
again. Arawn uses his abilities and his
memory skills to
slow the images down in his mind. He
then realizes that
was Kiet. Arawn glances down and
grabs his
gear. Then heads out into the hallway and
toward the
stairs.

Mae in
the hallway sees Kiet suddenly move fast and
down the hallway
and back toward the stairs once he
exits one
room. The breeze of him passing runs a shiver
down her
back. No. Wait did she feel a pinch on the
behind? Did
Kiet try...nah. Mae reaches for her
dagger and finds
it nudged in her belt. She moves to
the stairs to see
what is going on after she watches
the wolf
ascend.

Maelorna looks at the giant and shakes her head and she's
yelling out,
"No, just no, don't even suggest it!" as inside her
mind the voice is
cackling and telling her to go for it, a new
pet, do it, you
know, for the Princess! She would be so proud
of you!' it
gleefully teases her. She sighs, trying to guess
just how hard it
would be, she could fly over, 'Yeah do it, I
have faith in your
abilities!' the voice laughs. "You're not
helping!" she
hisses as she thinks.

Her
hand brushes the hilt of her dagger and she shakes her
head. She wonders
if she could do it, at least to feed on him,
or even, dare she
believe she could?

Mae
looks for Arawn but recalls at the last moment she
saw him behind her
in the hallway as she climbed the
stairs so will
wait for him to ascend.

Mournath looks around for the danger and doesn't take him
long to find
it. Behind them and to the left is a giant
walking on
water. Some kind of trick? No. The sailor
decides this isn't
a drill. He rushes to the lockers and
grabs his bow and
quiver. Wait. He doesn't own any bow
or arrows.
Who's did he grab? But maybe he can get off
a shot or two
before the giant gets too close. He runs
to the rear of the
ship for a better position.

Ix
hears the wolf howl and moves a bit slowly toward him.
She doesn't know
for sure what is going on yet but she
sees a dark
cloud/blur behind the ship. It must be
a storm. But
no Storms aren't that low to the water.
Is that some kind
of large cretaure?

When
the crewman lookout spots the Sea Giant and starts
yelling &
blowing his alarm whistle (an action that leaves his
hands free to
ready both mace & shield for battle), Raddok,
flabbergasted at
what he sees coming toward them, joins in
sounding the
alarm, and waits (with great longing) for Dorhak,
Z'leyra or
Mournath to arrive and give orders. He will, for
the moment, hold
his current position at the rear of the ship,
standing ready,
weapon & shield in place ready for use, near
the stern to try
to protect the whees man, or be ready to
move, if ordered,
to the stern rail, if needed there. He
shudders to think
what that creature grabbing the rails could
do to the ship
& its movement.

He
desperately hopes someone with more experience shows up
soon to help. They
will need an organized attack. Perhaps a
couple armed folks
in the sails would help? Then he remembers
Corona is nearby,
and Fremea, who both can provide some aerial
help. He continues
to glance around, looking for more help to
come on deck, and
keeping an eye on the giant, who seems to be
getting closer all
too fast. He might be needed to smash at the
giant's hands if
it decides to try to grab the stern rails, but
stays closer to
the wheel man for the moment, since the man has
no weapon. As he
waits, he is beginning to notice that he feels
more sure of his
footing and the balance of his weapons than
when the mermen
had attacked - he feels he is up to his land-
fighting skills
now. That awareness steadies him, and he glares
at the approaching
creature.

Raddok
watches the giant moving fast toward them.
Even with the
strange water magic the ship seems to
be too slow.
The giant is 7-8 faster it seems. Then
the miner sees
Mournath with a bow near him. Since
when does he know
how to use a bow?

As
Z'leyra watches around for the danger she
is a bit surprised
to see Fremea hover up and out
of the hold.
The healer was around the hatch when
the alarms went
off inspecting some plank damage.
Z'leyra stands and
sees the giant.

Z'leyra actives her magical boots and yells to the crew,
"to
arms!" She then runs toward the back of the ship
to get into range
of her spells.

Pyan
turns around to see the giant far to the back of
the ship.
How can such a thing walk on water? He
adjusts his quiver
and runs to the back of the ship to
get into a better
position.

Brutto
and Finn in the hold watch as Fremea then Unali
use the
chute. They shake their heads that thing is
for cargo loading
not a slide. Both men run to the hold
door and staist to
head for the stairs to the top deck.

Ardrackle at the steering wheel glances back at the
approaching
giant. He has heard stories of such beasts
who could net an
entire ship and drag them away. If
this legend
is true or not he doens't know. But he has
to stand his
ground for now.

Zepp
in the crow's nest saw the giant rise from the
water like some
kraken awaken for a meal. He knows being
up here is not
good. The giant could tear he rigging
down with a single
hand. So Zepp uses a rope to quickly
descend to the
deck below.

The
captain is down below decks in the hold, examining some
of the supplies,
when he hears the alarm. He drops everything
to go get his mace
and shield, then head to the top deck.

Barbosa is trying to get a nice nap when the whistles and
alarms go
off. Then he sees Arawn and some person that
almost looked like
Kiet zoom past. The dwarf grunts and
figures its a
drill again so Dorhak will be happy he
can't nap during
the day. The dwarf grabs his gear
and heads down the
hallway to the stairs.

[Time: 2:26:04
pm]
[Turn 1: Phase
2]

AT the
lockers Fremea casts a fire arrow spell and watches
as the tip of her
knocked arrow shows a bit of red. She
then turns and
flies toward the giant and ends up about 30 feet
off the ship or
about 30 feet in front of the rear end of the
ship. The
giant is till around 200-220 feet so knows that
would be a low
chance of hitting at this point.

Mournath fires from his bow at the giant and it goes wild
missing the
creature at this distance.

Corona
fires again but his bolt misses the giant's arms
by 2 feet
splashing into the ocean.

Kiet
reaches the very back of their ship and the left corner section
of the ship and
look sat the giant approaching. His rings are
only about 60 feet
range so will have to wait for it to get
closer.

The
giant makes another 60 feet or so toward the ship and
reaches behind him
at something those on the ship can't
tell what.
The giant is dressed in some rudimentary
clothing for a
creature of the sea. To the dismay of Mae
even his lower
region is not shown. But there is a light
furred tunic and
pants that probably keeps him warm if
not clumsy in the
water as it weighs him down a bit. Then
again it may be
made from hides that don't absorb and
don't weigh as
much.

Zol
Zim moves to meet Ix as she moves toward him and nudges
against
her.

Z'leyra with her magical boots reaches the rear of the
ship and gets
behind Kiet ready to prepare for her spells.
She estimates the
giant is maybe 10 seconds away.

Unali
reaches the top before those in the hold reach
the top. She
climbs over the side of the hatch and
nimbly lands on
her feet. She then glances around and
spots the giant.
She mentally groans. Where is Raban
when they need
him? She draws her daggers and runs
to the back of the
ship.

Upon
reaching the upper deck his attention was immediately
Arawn to the
aquatic titan and then to Mae, who seemed to be
looking for him if
her expression told him anything.

Arawn
reaches the top deck and emerges to spot the giant.
He tries to study
it as he moves to the back of the ship.
He glances over to
see Mae looking his way but is distracted
by the 40 foot
giant.

Arawn
glances to Mae and grins, "What'd I miss?"

Mae
jogs along side the tall elf.

Kiet
watches Fremea fly toward the giant and knows he himself
is too far to use
his rings at this point. He watches as
others join them
on the top deck and come this way.

Ix
ambles toward the back of the ship to see if she can help.

Raddok
grips the railing waiting for the giant to get closer.
Waiting is the
worse thing ever.

Pyan
ends up about 40 feet from to go to get to the
back of the
ship.

Brutto
and Finn emerge from the stairs and stop as they
spot the
giant.

Zepp
grabs his weapon and rushes to the back of the ship
to help defend
it.

Ardrackle remains at his post waiting for orders.

Dorhak
climbs the stairs and emerges on deck.

upon
reaching the upper deck, he looks out with everyone e
se and starts
growling. Giant! Out here? Dwarves hate
giants. this is so
much worse, however. What good is a shield,
or even a mace,
against that, that thing! gods, it’s huge.
"Pilot!
Turn away from that monstrosity!" Then the dwarf
runs to the
back.

Barbosa emerges from the stairs and stops upon seeing the
giant. Then
a slew of foul dwarf curses are heard. The
dwarf moves slowly
to the rear.

Update...Sat/Monday?

GM: Finally
its done! Once my project was done Sunday
I tried to do the update Monday and Tuesday. But
my staff has a funny need to sleep for 11-12 hours
unlike most normal folks. So started late. So hard
to have good staff these days! After what 18 years
you think they have rights!

So this is a small update as the giant has not reached
the ship yet. He is about 180 feet away now. Phase
3 he'll be 120-130. Phase 4: 60-70 feet and Phase 5
he should reach the ship. This means bows and such
will have at least 3 phases of free fire Base don
my math ship even if turned won't do much outrunning.

It is important to keep in mind spells cast the range
of such spells.

Just a moment here to speak of the posts from Panthera.
This was sudden and without direct context out of
the blue. Based on research and emails it seems these
are not directed to anyone. This did cause a bit of
delay as I had to address it. Folks are welcome to
reply to his stuff and give advice. I am not the
word-smith that may not e as qualified to help him
as others. Or just go to his facebook which seems to be
where these things are cut/pasted form. If I am
wrong here on the context I hope he'll clarify it. :)

When I did actions I posted the scenes you guys inserted
in with mine. I hope I interlaced them well. It was
hard to 'jump' from place to place without getting there.
For example Arawn seeing Mae while she wasn't there. So
I hope I corrected those mistakes. :)

GM: Arawn - Since
on deck now will start casting the spell
as outlined. BM, RE, ES and such. Keep in mind nay
range for If any changes to the spell line up let me
know.

Dorhak: Assume melee combat.

Fremea: Did not fire bow phase 2 since needed to cast
Fire Arrow first. So next phase will start firing.

Ix - Any actions? :)

Kiet: Range for rings are 60 feet if I recall which means
You may get a shot off Phase 5 so not next update.
I have your speech on the knife fight saved for next
day after combat. I already have Wout's response
so I'll just do it then. So I didn't ski it
just saving it for a fun scene if folks survive
this battle. :)

Mournath - You have no bow. O assume you borrowed one :)
Will assume fire next update. For phase 5 do you continue
using bow or go melee?

Pyan: Assume fire bow next update. Do you go melee any?

Raddok: With folks near that side of ship may be harder
to get in melee range until update after next. So
don't expect any posts for the next update. :)

Unali - I lost some of my notes. I know what you have
planned. But the dialogue I think I lost so gotta
find it. But I do have a plan regardless that will
be a fun scene to do. :) (Evil GM Grin) I have the
emailed notes on what ifs. Just gotta find the
dialogue notes again. Thought you were asking for
a lift t to the giant. But I have a backup plan. :)

Z'leyra: So Phase 3 OS 4-Purify 5-Oblivion by then sadly
he'll be at the ship so you'll probably only have 1 shot
at this. Dwarfs not me of course did mistake saying
you were top deck - hold. Can't be both places so
I figure they meant top deck by hold. :)

Mae - Not that your with Arawn what now? Wasn't clear.
