[New Stuff]

[Fireday , Fertility week, Storm Season, 1625, Genertela, Glorantha]

[Time: 9:59 pm]

"Well fought!" Rocky tells Razgor.

Juno walks over and pats our hero on the back
and smiles and says. “We are thankful for your risk and bless you.”

He quickly gathers his stuff feeds himself
and drinks some water and gives some food and
water to his horse checks if every thing is ok
with his horse and checks the saddle and belongings.

At next camp he plans to meditate deeply of
nothing to return balance of power.

Juno seeing how accurate those elves are the
leaders mention of resources, he ask the elven
leader. “Can we trade something for a few arrows
to refill my-quiver? I don't have much to offer
but my services as a healer for your people. I
own very little; a few coin and my weapons and
armor and supplies and my horse. We should need
some access to any supplies or food to stock up
and to refill water for horses and or our own needs as well?”

Leorik nods and smiles, “certainly we can
parlay. But you will be our guests so there is
not much we will require or need. Arrows are
certainly possible. Our bows however are
specially grown....not made. No humans can really use our bows effectively.”

“After we break camp is it time time to carry on?” He asks our leader.

Varen shrugs, “we should move fast to not
intrude in this great forest long.”

"Thanks all" Razgor answers Rocky and
Juno. "These elves needed someone to guard their forest."

After that he seems to return to his somewhat
quiet and withdrawn mood of the past few days.

Vern and Jaren both nod at Razgor, “yes good
work” Both seem to say at the same time.

[Time: 10:03 pm]

The party heads north to the forest with
Leorik already in the forest shadows. Once the
party and horses enter they notice Leorik and
another elf in a quiet argument in elven
tongue. The other elf is gesturing in various
directions and the party seems to figure it is
either about them or the dead elf. But soon the
argument ends and the party is lead about half a mile in.

Leorik, “you may camp here. I'll leave 4
here to patrol and watch so you do not need to do
a sentry unless you feel like it. We'll assist
with a small fire. My other men will be sent east
to ensure the tuskriders do not enter the forest.”

Veren nods, “thank you. We already ate but
is there a water source nearby?”

Leorik, “not too close but I’ll have water
sent. Sleep well and we'll guide you north
through the forest. You will be with us for a
day or so as the forest is fairly large.”

With that the elf leader fades into the
shadows. Soon a fire is made and a hour later
some water buckets are given for water needs
now. The night grows late. Veren does not
openly assigns a watch but quietly assigns one person to “remain alert.”

------------

[Wildday, Fertility week, Storm Season, 1625, Genertela, Glorantha]

[Time: 6:18 am]

Rocky is awake and “alert” per Verens orders
when he hears movement. It is clearly loud to
alert those in the camp. He sees 4 elves enter
the camp. Clearly they would’ve been real quiet
but were loud on purpose. Three females and 1
male enter the perimeter. The females which most
humans rarely see are females, carry leather bags
and l pottery of water. The elf does not speak
tradetalk well but it is determined it is food
and water. Some warm biscuits with slightly
melted butter, warm goat milk and some warm ham.
But the eggs seem a bit cold. A few assorted
vegetables from apples, berries to spinach among others are also given

Once the horses are fed by the grass and the
party eats the camp is broken. The elf who does
not speak tradetalk well watches as the campfire is doused.

The elf does speak a few words, “I
guide. You track.” But he probably mean follow.

[Time: 11:42 am]

Leorik repeats. “I hope your sleep was well
and meal? Good. I have something to show
you. Come.” The party is diverted west about
half a mile. There the party notices some items
in the forest. On closer look it is 3 small
horse one man carriages. So a man cold ride with
two wheels and small cushion for seat and cloth
top. All 3 seem to have the apparatus of wood and hinges to attach to horses.”

“These were left from ..a group that
...entered here. Recently. We were going to break
down for wood but it looks like you could use 2
of them.” Looking at Veren and Rocky.

Veren looks to the carriage
contraptions. “That would work. I could ride in
that than on the horse. I accept thank you two
of them. Assuming Rocky wants to ride in one.”

Leorik continues, “we are self sufficient
here. Do you have any pottery we could barter
for? For the food, and these wagon things. I
was told by one of the female elves she spotted
jewelry on her.” He nods to Varo. “We do not
assort much things but some of the females adore
such items.” He turns to Juno. “You look like a
person who knows healing. Maybe share some of
your healing plant knowledge with us? If you have
such? You should be with us in the forest for at
least 2 more days. That should be enough time to
trade knowledge. We rarely enter the nearby
areas but if you know of plants on the plains
that would be useful for our group.

[Time: 6:03 pm]

Leorik stays with party to share his
knowledge with Juno. There are anywhere from 3-6
elves in the forest hidden in the shadows
following the party. One comes forth and whispers to Leorik. Leorik nods.

“A possible sight to see may be
coming. Come with me to the forest edge. Those
who wish to. You may leave your gear and camp
here. The edge is only a couple miles to the
east. Rocky you may want to come.”

Soon those who go with him get to the forest
edge. Night has fallen. No torches are allowed
as the party looks out onto the hills to see the
large mass of 80 tuskriders at camp. They have
ended up maybe 2 miles from the forest and up
against a sandy – not so rocky – hill. Leork
taps Rocky's shoulder and point to the top of the
hill above the tuskriders. It takes Rocky almost
3 minutes and starts to get a bit frustrated but
spots it. A flash of metal? Last night was the
full moon but tonight its 3 quarters so making it
still pretty bright. Then he spots it another
flash some distance west of the last one. Mirror
signal flashes. Someone is using the moon to signal others.

“The dwarfs in the hills do not like invaders
as we don’t' here in the forest.” Leorik tells Veren.

Almost 10 minutes later dark forms seem to
stream from the hills and seem to move toward the
tuskriders campfire. Flashes of metal or
something is seen as a possible battle is
underway. Rocky is tempted to go join his brothers but he'd be alone.

In just a few minutes the forms shrink back
into the hills. The tusks are a bit agitated and
some ramble since no riders are on them. At this
distance it is difficult to tell how many died on which side.

Veren asks, “how did you know?”

Leorik shrugs, “my scouts here watching them
noticed signs before sunset. The mirror signals
clenched it. They probably did not intend to
slaughter the group or kill the tuskrider
offspring. But as with our arrows a warning for them to stay off the uphills.”

Rocky concentrates and does something to
check something. But at this range it would be futile. But he had to check.

-------

[Freezeday, Stasis week, Storm Season, 1625, Genertela, Glorantha]

[Time: 12:07 am]

The sentry elves are heard talking to
someone. Varo who is on “alert” gets up and
moves near the sounds. She spots a group of 5
elves. They do not seem to be arguing but
speaking calmly. Soon the new elves move on and must be a passing family.

A new week for those of the faith – stasis
week and Freezeday the first day or also known as
Darkday. The day seems to comply by making it cool maybe in the 60s.

Razgor senses he is being watched. For the
last 2 days the elves watch the party and protect
from predators. So they are true to their word no
sentries are needed. But Razgor is awake as well
as Rocky, Varo, Jaren and Juno. Razgor glances
around and spots a form in the bush to the
east. Looks like two eyes among a bush?

The form whatever it is seems to hear a Elf
sentry come near and move away quietly.

Leorik who is asleep tells the party based on
the elf's report it was a Dryad that Razgor may
have seen. But it was so quick and very little detail was seen.

[Time: 1:12 pm]

The party has moved north, northwest and now
north east. Leorik has guided with help of his
scouts the party to the NE corner of the
forest. Now the party gets to the edge and sees
a great expanse of grasslands. Miles and miles of grassland.

Leorik, “this is where we part. Those
carriages should have no issue on the grass and
travel fast. About 6 miles that way is a human
farm. They can give you shelter. The tuskriders
are at least 12 miles south east of here. They
have been grazing on the plains. There is a
chance they may encounter the farm. Warn
them. We have sent a scout to warn the riders to
avoid the farm and continue north west. We are
sure they will avoid it. Peace be with you.”

With that he and several elves leave the
area. But the party is sure there are others
watching to ensure the humans leave the forest.

Jaren asks, 'so we may have to deal with them
again? Why not sit on the grass and let the riders pass us?”

Maruska shakes his head, “Leorik gave us a
honor promise to warn the farm. They have been
kind to us and given us food and water for our
last leg of this trip. We should do as they requested.”

Veren nods and waves the party onto the grasslands.

As the trip continues, Verene is grateful for
not riding. But the smell sitting right behind
the horse is a bit much for him. For Rocky it
doesn't seem to bother him. Smelly dwarfs in hot
caves is no big deal. Varo helps to give him a
scarf and a flower is tied around it to give a bit of smell blocking for Veren.

[Time: 7:47 pm]

Night has fallen and the party has been
trying to locate this farm. The grasslands were
wide and shallow perfect for fast movement almost
as much as plains on speed. Finally a few hours
ago the party spots whiffs of smoke that can only
be from the farmhouse. Leorik could only give a
direction but not distance. The smoke seen is
very sporadic and light but it is a way to pinpoint direction.

Finally with Rocky in his carriage and being
drove by Jaren's horse they spot lights in the darkness.

The party arrives at the 2 story farm
house. The party is amazed how it could be but
there so far from a village or city. Veren and
Varo approach and are seen by those inside. A
man in his late 40s leaves the house with a pitchfork and scowls.

Varo and Veren explain they were sent by the
Elves. That is when the man seems to mellow
out. He says that dinner was already served but
if need some cold left overs he can help with
that. The horses can be put in the barn and given hay and oats.

The farmer introduces his family as
Rovich. Mr Rovich has a young wife around late
30s and 7 kids – 4 boys and 3 girls ranging from
8 to 15. Mr Rovich invites the party to stay the
night but in the barn or around the home. There
is no real room inside but a small couch that could fit one person.

Some cold left overs are heated up for coup for the party.

Veren explains to Mr Rovich the danger of the tuskriders.

“We've been here on this land for 4
generations. We trade with a coastal town in the
east some 40-50 odd miles away on the ocean. The
closest other town is maybe 60 miles north of
here. We also feed the elves when the forest
gets too cold to to harvest food from. Every so
often a dwarf will come by but rarely stops. IT
is possible these rider folk may spot us. But we
will not be kicked off our land. We have the grace of the gods to protect us.”

Veren considers arguing but decides no need
to stay as even if they helped defend the farm
they'd be out numbered 8 to 1. “I appreciate
your offer to stay. We shall do so the night then move on.”

Marusks asks Mr Rovich, “I've been through
this area before. I never knew this place was
here. Do you mind giving me some info on the
local area as we are moving north.”

The Farmer nods and the party settles in for the night.

---------------

[Waterday, Stasis week, Storm Season, 1625, Genertela, Glorantha]

[Time: 5:46 am]

Farmers are indeed up super early. The
entire family stars their chores. No incidents
from the night before. The party is awaken by
the family starting their day. Mrs Rovich and
the girls are inside starting breakfast and are
preparing some for the party including eggs,
greens, biscuits and a form of porridge.

Juno prays for the family and farewells are done.

[Time: 3:18 pm]

The party approaches a wide rain forest that
seems to stretch all the way to the
ocean. Marusk explains could go around but it
would take 4-5 days past the mountains. The
carriages may have some issue but the farmer
explains there are trails used by the locals that
may be overgrown in some places but allow the carriages to pass.

[Clayday, Stasis week, Storm Season, 1625, Genertela, Glorantha]

[Time: 4:15 pm]

The party has been traveling a bit slow but
making progress. The rain forest is starting to
get dim as the slow gets lower in the sky. For
the most part there are bits of open sky but the
canopy seems to enclose the sky around the party.

The party has been going for hours in the hot
humid rainforest. Some roll up sleeves but dare
not remove armor in this area. So a lot of folks
are sweaty and tired. Those who have horse armor
the horses are also far more exhausted. Veren is considering a early camp.

The party has left the more visible trail a
mile or so back and not much signs of use in the
area so they are just guessing based on possible
downed trees and compressed grass. Now the party
finally ends up in a clearing about 32-33 feet
wide and 40-45 feet long. A break is being done
as Rocky and Jaren enter the thick rain forest to
relieve themselves. The other group is
dismounted and clumped up. Letting the horses
rest and breath. Rocky has gone maybe 10 feet
into tree line in west and Jaren 20 feet in south.

A shadow seems to move over the party and the
party figures it is a cloudy day. Then another
then another. Veren leans forward in his
carriage and looks up. “What are those?”

The party sees a dozen flying forms. They
have the head, wings and forelegs of a eagle and
body of a lion. Marusk yells, “griffins!”

By now the griffins have circled back having
seen the party and half of them are in a steep
dive right for the party. It seems the other
half which could be smaller are just circling.

One dives for Varo and does 2 claw sand tries
to peck at the merchant trader. One Claw misses
but the other two do strike. The claw hits
Varo's right leg and shreds it she falls down
disabled but the peck attack hits her abdomen and
she is heavily damaged unconscious.

Another dives toward Mournath and attacks his
horse. The peck and claws all three hit doing a
massive 21 points as the horse collapses to the ground.

A third dives toward Varo again but at last
second swoops as his ally takes her down.

Another dives toward Jaren's horse which is
missing his rider in the forest. One claw misses
but the peck and first claw does hit doing damage
drawing serious blood but the horse does not fall
as his barding has protected him.

The last one dives at the same time and dives
for Juno. The claws fail to hit but the beast's
beak does peck at his right leg doing 9 points
and he falls with his leg disabled.

GM: Actions? Comments?

Next update – Monday?

GM: Wow. Ok. Griffins are far more dangerous
than they are in P&P. Two are down badly hurt
and one horse may be dead other wounded. I went
and did a big update to move us along. Figure
the elf trading, the farm and even dryad wasn't
worth sticking on. But you may post retroactive
stuff just gives the day as a reminder. So will
try to do update next week probably Monday. I
may only do 1 round as these things are
dangerous. We are in the final leg of the trip
and sadly my map is wonky. The yellow line on my
site shows. But when I download to edit that
same map its gone. So can't update map yet. But
you are one hex right of 3407 I believe. I'll
crop the map and do a new location marker this
weekend. Wanted to get this out today. So when
figured out random encounters I did my usual
random #s. Not going to overwhelm party so why
only half flew down the others are Immature
griffins which fit the descriptions. Omce they
dove I did D9 for who was target. Then d100 for
50/50 chance of person and horse. For those who
went to wet a tree I did 2 D9s. I will try to do
new map tomorrow but it may end up next week.
