* Voyage Home
[Maps #9 and #14]
Ship starts in Hex which is 2 Hexes SW of Vizan city on
Clima West side. Hex Side #5 (if top is #1 going
clock-wise). That's where the mountain is.
Ship sails North-North East and sails between Khatu and
Vizan city. Passing between those areas the ship will
sail NE then turn due east. They'll do a zig-zag
movement to avoid patrols and pirates due east.
This part of the trip takes 220 miles to reach between
the islands of Ghova and Khoba and Ba'helos. The ship
will pass between Khoba and Ba'helos. Khoba is part
o Thaliba so Damon knows this will be a dangerous part
of the trip to avoid pirates from both nations. But
this is their best course. If they sail south of
Ba'helos that area is heavilly patrolled by Clima city
forces and the military. Once the ship leaves that
hex and goes another 100 miles the danger from Clima
should decline as they get further. The ship will
still have to worry about Portan pirates however.
The ship will continue due east. For about 100
miles, it will zig-zag. Then the ship will go due east
for speed. AFter another 260 miles the ship
will be due south of Malnon city (Marentia).
This will be the start of safe territory and the
ship will likely decrease in stress and alertness
(battle readiness).
The ship will then travel another 140 miles to the
straits near Sivas city.
After first encounters there they will be ordered
to finish the trip to Maren city another 80 miles
across the lake to Maren and the trip ends.

Average Wind = Average wind for the full day which may
go up or down as the hours pass but are an average
of the full day's amount of wind. (4-12)
Spell Bonus = Sava casts Friendly Current. This spell
will last for FOUR days each casting and give a
constant bonus of +21 to wind speed.
Normal Drift - 20 Miles per sailing ship/Merchant type
The distance sailed for a merchant ship typically in
one day through normal currents and drift. This
20 is added to final speed for a distance sailed that
day.

Day 22 - 5:12pm -
[Location-Same Hex of sea cave]
Four hours after leaving sea cave. A small storm of easy
intensity approachs. But Damon sees it and easilly avoids
it the ship is not affected in any way.
Day 23 - None
Day 24 - 2:52pm
[Location- 1 Hex SW of Ghova Island - Map #9]
A small vessel that is moving very fast is spooted
in the distance. By Damon's spyglass he spots a
flag and with help of others determines it to be
a Aratad Flag. It seems to be from its speed and
shape a courier ship. It avoids the player ship
entirely.

Day 29 - 8:31pm
[Location- 6 Hexes SE of Porta city Map #9]
Another storm this one huge that has a storm front of about
6 miles with heavy lightning and winds is seen. Damon
easilly sees this in the distance and is called on deck.
He avoids the storm by circumventing it. The ship only
gets light rain from its border.
Day 30 - 3:38pm
[Location- 7 Hexes SE of Porta city Map #9]
A small ship is spotted moving fast alongside the ship. After
it chases the ship for about 10 minutes it changes
coruse to intercept the player ship. Damon calls for
the alarm bell and demands everyone below decks to come
up on deck. He determines it is a thaliban pirate ship
likely out of porta. But the size of the craft is probably
half the merchant ship. He determines it can't have
a crew of more than 20-25. So he calls for everyone
on deck to stand by the side of the ship and show a
strength of force. The pirate ship seeing all the
people on deck as much as twice their number decides to
avoid the encounter and turns off. It heads back North
West probably back home.
Day 31 - 6:54am [Actually event is for Day 30]

Day 31 - 1:38pm
[Location- 9 Hexes SE of Porta city Map #9]
A moderate storm is spotted but it forms too quickly to
avoid. The ship enters the storm with winds gusting
as much as 30-35 and waves reaching as much as 8 feet
which makes the water do come on deck. The ship is
tossed about for a good 45 minutes. Damon and the
others try to settle the ship in. During the worst
of it Sava casts a Calm Sea spell and creates a pocket
of 150 feet around the ship of calm sea for a short
while. During this time the light damage to the ship
is cleaned up. Eventually the ship leaves the storm
and damage is light. Minor hull damage but mostly
items falling from shelves or other locations. No
body injuries.
Day 32 - None
Day 33 - 9:46am
[Location- 30-35 miles from Sivas city/Marentia]
Two marentian merchant ships are spotted and the ship
flies the Marentian Flag. Contact is made and
the three ships decide to sail for a short time then
the merchants divert going south to Bhamotin. Finally
civilization and Marentian's are spotted!
Day 34 - None
Day 35 - 8:20pm
[Location - Lake Sivas - just miles outside Maren city - Map$14]
A diplomat spots a large 28-30 foot water serpent alongside
the ship. But it does nothing but swim there for some
time then goes elsehwere.

The above assumes victory in the encounter. As you can see there
is only one encounter to deal with. The rest are storms and
avoidable encounters. The one in question to deal with is
Day 31 - 6:54am 150 miles SE of Porta city.
Before I give the encounter bes tto do some bookkeeping.
First Health Status by the day of the encounter everyone
is fully healed. Farseeker takes 8 days to heal being
the worst but finally gets to 100% by the encounter. So
everyone is at 100% hit points.
Second, Energy level wise. Everyone regenerates any lost
Energy from the festival magical ritual.
Third, Mana wise. I've emailed everyone their Current
Mana Status records. Keep these in mind. If you didn't
get the email let me know.
---------------------Encounter-------------------------
[The ship is a bit nervous from the previous afternoon encounter
with the pirate ship. By the previous evening everyone
settles down to dinner and watches are set. As the sun rises
around 6:30 or so twilight shifts in the sky all around. Jordi
having been on watch leaves his post as the sun rises. Not
tired he goes below deck just as Damon gains control back over
the ship. The morning winds begin to pick up and sails are
ordered to full frill. Everyone knows the ship is only 3-4
days before landing at home. So anticipation is in the air.
The ship has made it thus far eluding the climans and other
pirates. The eagle is flying around a perimeter around
the ship about a mile out stretchings its legs and getting
its morning excercise. As many start to wake up and the
ship becomes active once again the night lanterns are taken
down and doused. A morning brew of porridge is started.
Since its only day only 2 watches are needed one to look
180 degrees forward and one in back.
Triest is cleaning his crossbow and taking the forward watch.
Suddenly something catches his eye. The ship is sailing almost
directly toward the sun so its hard to see in the east due
to the brightness being right on the waterline. He stands
and shades his eyes. A shape again. Must be a whale or a
shark or big fish flying out of the water. He keeps an eye
out for a few minutes... Then he sees the shape out of
the corner of his eyes to the left (NE). Suddenly the shape
stops and rises. Suddenly Triest sees a glob of seaweed...
no ..hair?...then two eyes..EYES!. Triest turns around
and yells "Trouble! North East!".
Seconds pass and then the form rises up again and within
a short minute the form grows larger and larger. Its
clear what it is by the end of its movement. Its a Giant.
The humanoid giant stands about 37 feet tall from the waterline.
The giant has a face with many folds and his hair is black
and gray. His beard goes down about 8 feet from his chin
and is almost pure gray/white. In his right hand he holds
a trident and in the other he has a piece of net wrapped
around his hand. The rest of the net dangles down or
around his shoulder. He is wearing loose pants but no
shirt. He is very muscled looking and quite large. The
crew is startled to see it standing ON the water and not
going below. It litterally climbed on top of the water
and then stood there. It eyes the ship and scowls.
It is about 520-530 feet to the forward left of the ship
or compass wise NE. This is about 52-53 hexes away
in terms of combat.
By now everyone can easilly be awoken to the danger and
can react. By now its enough light you can see the
Giant clearly. Of course it can see the ship as well.
The trident stands about 18 feet tall.
Damon orders anyone to the ship's weapons to prepare them
ready for battle.
Damon: "Sava can you speed us up?"
Sava: "I'm doing th ebest I can do. If I cast other magic
our speed will be reduced and negated."
Kaylle: "How can we fight such a beast?"
Actions? Comments?
Next update Monday...
This is a drastic encounter one that can be tough. We
can deal with one phase of battle for the next update.
Vote if you wish to have 1 or 2 phases per encounter
afterwards.
That's it. I hope the above is ok. I typed the
ship stuff about 3 weeks ago and forgot to proof-read it :)
