Game Update #34a in sequence (file #134]

Admin notes: Minor correction in last update. I mentioned the
Hippogriffs have claws. But in fact they would only have horse
hooves for stomping and their large "mouth" a eagle like beak
maybe for a bite attack. So replace claws with one of these :)

[Recap]
From Jordi: [Re: Actions]
Jordi will move slowly (to not scare his horse, who may be
used to mist, but not to running into the mist) to the
party, directly to the west, firing to the closest
hippogriffts in range.
He maintains the mist in place, until he is near the end
of it (say one hex); then, he will move the mist to the
west as much as he can, but taking care of remaining with
his horse into the mist.
GM: Ack.

Chion will shout " Lookout Below " and let the spell go...
GM: Ack. Next phase then. Since this leaves a few things
open ended we'll see how it goes :)
From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
Wow, Ben'Dar's bow-shooting is craptacular so far. Well,
he's determined to hit at least once, so he'll keep shooting
with the bow, unless one of the hippogriffs comes down to
attack him up close, then he'll switch to the spear.
As he fires his next arrow, he says "Arrow! Black arrow!
I have saved you to the last. You have never failed me and
always I have recovered you. I had you from my father and
he from of old. If ever you came from the forges of the
true king under the Mountain, go now and speed well!"
(OK, he doesn't really say that...but it can't hurt to be
thinking it. Maybe he'll hit something! ;-) )
GM: Yeah. Just bad rolls. As to the dialogue best to hink
it as too long to say it :)

[New Stuff]
Sepes 42, in the 163rd Year [TH]
Location: River Sch (E) Riverbank, Zen'da Plains, 270 Miles
North of Asichi City, Heading East from River, around 1pm
[Turn 17: Phase 1]
[Mana Allocation]
[Z'leyra finish allocating mana]
[Missile Fire]
[Ben'dar aims at #4 but realizes Caladan is under it.
Looks at #6 and too close to Balrog. He twists to
the left and looks at #2 trying to flank the group
at 60 feet to his left. He aims and fires his
bow after saying his private prayer. The arrow
flies and impacts right on the left side wind near
the shoulder. It shatters the wing and pentrates
the ribs of the creature doing 23 points of damage!
Ben'dar gives a yelp o trimuph finally as the creature
slams to the ground 10 feet away.]
[Balrog grabs a throwing dagger from his belt and
quickly throws it at #6 hitting it since its only
feet away hits it for 4 points more of damage to it.]
[Unali could aim sling at #4 but knows Caladan is right
under it so too dangerous.]
[Jordi turns and fires at #8 and hits doing 8 points
of more damage to it.]
[Strie'bog fires only good target he can #1 way up
in the air but misses with his bow.]
[Magic Effect]
[Caladan looks up. With a hand he nudges the firesnake
closer to his shoulder to protect it from what's
coming then with his other hand he finishes his spell
and a fire dart flies out of his hand. It hits
#4 doing 14 points of damage to the creature which
kills it as the fire spike tores through its body.
The creature already dead does a flip backwards then
lands about 6 feet behind its previous position to
the rear.]
[Z'leyra still dazed knows she is still speaking
some magical words almost by instinct now. She
turns and tries to find a creature and gets a bit
dizzy from her blow. Then she sees #6 about 50
feet away. She raises a wavering arm and points
at it then finishes a few slurred words. She has
to repeat one or two then a auro only she can see
surrounds the creature. She assumes the paralysis
spell has worked but is a bit dazed to know for sure.]
[Chion extends his staff and enacts the spell within
it. The spell grabs #6 but its already frozen from
Z'leyra's paralysis spell. #1 is too far up out
of range and the 2 by Jordi are out of range.]
[Melee & Movement]
[Hippogriffs move...
#1 - Dives straight for Farseeker and tries to
attack him but misses its attack. It turns
to the right and flies back of but ends up
only about 20 feet off ground.
#6 - Captured by two spells #6 falls to the ground
to the right/south east. It tries to move but
can't at all.
#8 - Flies due west...
#10 - Intrigued by the mist again turns to the
right and re-enters the mist. Amazingly it
seems to detect Jordi or see him. It flies
straight through the mist. Though it doesn't
attack directly. Its front right leg and rear
leg hit Jordi. One hoove hits Jordi's head but
the metal helmet Thig gave him for his wedding
helped there but the rear leg does 1 point of damage
to Jordi's left shoulder. The creature continues
to fly behind Jordi.]
GM: Could've been worse. The spell did help out
based on its EL. From a severe hit to a regular
hit so that's good :)
[Kasha would love to charge at #1 but would be about
10 feet out of range of his mace. If only he was
on a warhorse he could have the horse leap. Oh well.
Riding horses. Tsk tsk. But he charges the frozen
#6 now on the ground. In a show of skill on the horse
he leans to the left and bashes down at the creature.
With a -55 to attack and EL even with a high roll
like a 60 he still scores a easy deadly hit. He
scores 20 points. Too bad the creature only had 3 left
for experience :<. The creature is killed.]
[Thig, Xian and Trembyl watch the scene nad stay position
to watch the remaining hippogriffs.]
[Farseeker upset that #1 just attacked him charges
straight for #1 with his long lance. He then yells
a commadn to his warhorse...a horse trained to
leap on command unlike Kasha's horse...to leap up and
this gets the few needed feet to reach the creature.
The lance hits #1 and does 7 points of damage to it
to wound it for the first time.]
[Balrog seeing #6 fall turns and charges the 20 feet
or so toward the approaching #8. he intercepts it
and with his short sword misses to hit the creature.]
[Unali eager for action belts his sling with one hand.
With her feet she prods the horse forward through the
battlefield toward Balrog and #8. With the other hand
she grabs two daggers and readies them. While able
to fight with both in the short time she can only use
one dagger due to limited time (exchanging daggers
placing sling on belt, etc.). She charges the hippogriff
and then turns the horse slightly to the left so her
hand gets directly under the belly of the creature. She
then with a hard thrust plunges the dagger upward doing
6 points of damage. With the 12 from Balrog this finishes
off the creature. The hippogriff falls foward (north)
about 2 feet and hits the ground.]
[Z'leyra sees only #1 left nearby but its too far up for
her to reach.]
[Turn 17: Phase 2]
[Mana Allocation]
[Z'leyra allocates another paralysis spell mana to stop
#1 from fleeing away.]
[Missile Fire]
[Ben'dar aims at #1 but could hit Caladan, Z'leyra or
Farseeker so holds off. No other creature is seen.]
[Thig has a better aim and is higher than Farseeker
so fires at #1 with his repeating crossbow which
is magical and with magical ammo from Clima. The
weapon hits and does 19 points of damage. This kills
the wounded creature. It wobbles to the right and
forward a bit before crashing to the ground.]
[Jordi turns around again and aims at the flanking #10
and hits for 14 points of damage but this is a hard
blow but its still alive!]
[Magic Effect]
[Z'leyra finds #1 down and no other target. She
speaks the words but then realizes no thing to use
it on. She quickly looks around and spots a large
ant hill or termite hill and uses the spell on it.
The entire mound seems to go dormant from the magical
energy.]
gM: Sorry not here so wasn't sure what you'd want to
do with the energy :) I'll give some experience. (MDV1)
We can blame it on the confusion from the head attack :)
[Melee & Movement]
#10 not stupid takes to the air and flies due east
trying to flee the area before its killed.
[Ben'dar grabs the reins with one hand and prods the
horse toward the east.]
[Caladan stays in place.]
[Kasha joins Ben'dar and rides east.]
[Balrog stays in place.]
[Jordi turns and faces the fleeing hippogriff ready
to fire next phase.]
[Turn 17: Phase 3]
[Mana Allocation]
[Trembyl allocates mana for a spell.]
[Missile Fire]
[Ben'dar fires at the fleeing hippogriff over the
mist but the arrow flies past it.]
[Jordi fires the longbow at #10 and hits. It only
needed 1 to kill it so the damage is sufficient
and the hippogriff hits the ground.]
[Magic Effect]
[Trembyl was going to do a teleport spell to meet
the creature ahead and fire at it but sees it
fall so teleports 5 feet away off theo horse
in a show of magical skill and showman-off-ship. :)]
