Game Update #102 in sequence (file #366)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Admin notes: Sorry for no update Monday. Eye infection. Back
now at about 95% strength. I may not spell check this update.
Rather just get it out and rest the eye. So bear with any
errors :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
[Recap]
From Strie'bog: [Re: Actions]
(I need to go back through the posts, cause I feel I have
missed something. Wasn't there an abandoned village after
the one that was attacked? If so, did we ever find those
people).
What to do with Treasure: At this time, Strie'bog is not
all that interested in booty. As there has been some
indication that we should take things, he will offer to
carry some of the items.
Whether we should leave: Yes, leave and get out of the
Bova territory to try to figure out what is going on.
Strie'bog doesn't have the skill of a wagoneer, but will
help to fix it up to carry treasure or wounded.
GM: The villagers in THIS village are those people.
Ack. No particular item you want. Ack.
From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions below/Treasure here]
- Take all the prisoners back to be questioned & punished
by Caladan's father and people - Take all the elites back
(same as above)
- Take all the animals back
- Ben'Dar will claim the good quality scimitar and will
help scoop up the jewel & coins to be divided. He will
also help take charge of herding the horses so they can
be sold & proceeds divided. If any of the magical items
are not claimed, he will make sure to put those in with
the group loot as well.
GM: Ack. Will put claims on those unless others want some
of it then we cna do conflict resolution. So far no one
has claimed stuff.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
[New Stuff]
Octaqi 21, in the 163rd Year [TH]
[Meanwhile somewhere on the plains]
[Day 51 of Trip] [Near Enemy camp]
Time: Roughly 2:30am
[As the group around what was Caladan disperses to do their
various duties around camp Cetric continues to stare at
what was the spot Caladan was....]
Balrog: "We could use some help with the prisoners."
Cetric: "Huh? Oh. Yes. In a minute."
[While Z'leyra finsihes up on Farseeker she asks the
party..]
Z'leyra: "What special healing abilities or items do you
have? Caladan has taken so much damage that no one spell
of mine will come close to leaving him breathing on his
own, but if one of you is capable of a really high skill
in Regeneration or something like that we may be able to
avoid the shock to his system that multiple healing
magics would bring."
"He may already be dead. His spirit may have left his
body. Or it might not have. We do have a chance to heal
the damage, or at least heal enough of the damage so that
he can live if his spirit is still with his body. He is
outside of time until I recall him or until two moons pass
in which case he would reappear exactly as he was when he
disappeared."
"I have never tried it before, but I may be able to maximise
any healing magic by having a Time Stop spell cast on
Caladan when he is brought back...do the healing skills
that I can - if I can while the Time Stop is in effect and
then have the healing magics do what they can to heal his
body to a point where Caladan can live. If he had been the
only one needing healing I would have tried it without
doing the Oblivion spell."
"There is no guaranty that we will be able to heal Caladan.
But I shall try. If we wait for the two months I will have
time to improve my healing spells which should slightly
increase the chance of success. But if one of you can do
enough healing in one spell the delay may not be necessary.
We may be able to try it in the morning after I have
rested."
Thig: "I have no magic or item that would help. I doubt
Xian as well. The problem is you can patch him up but
he lost so much blood. Will magic regenerate that
blood?"
[As Z'leyra talks Cetric turns his head suddenly when she
explains Caladan can be summoned back. He perks up.]
Cetric: "I can save him."
Thig: "What?"
Cetric: "If you can get him to my Tipi at home and I'll
fetch a shaman I know to guide his spirit back I can
bring him back."
Kasha: "Explain."
Cetric: "This is not something we Ga'fel shamen wish to
let out in wide lands. But we shamen of the Ga'fel have
learned the magic of bringing the dead back to life."
Thig: "A shaman learning that magic? I've never heard of
such! There might only be a handful of people who know
the spell in the entire contient!"
Cetric: "Some 315 years ago there was a great Ho'ga'sha
who was wounded in a war with L'p'nth. He was a great
leader that without him around the people would give up.
The L'p'nth would win. We called ....summoned...a
wizard from the far north forest lands. He was powerful
and knew how to bring back the dead. He did bring back
the Ho'ga'sha. After three weeks of recovery a myth
grew around this. It led him and our people to victory
that scared the L'p'nth back into the mountains. No
one realized that he was weakened by the spirit magic
but he lived for many more years. That wizard taught
the chief shaman and since then the new shamans to
come down the generations would try to learn the ability.
Not all learned it however and only the stories and elders
kept the spirit magic going from new generation to new
generation. We keep the secret because many who die would
soon swamp us with requests for help. We have learned to
only give the ability to great men. Caladan deserves such
an attempt."
Balrog: 'So you kept this...you and the other shaman who knew
this secret...away from the common folk. You could've
saved many...but didn't."
Thig: "It makes sense. Those who know the spell tend to
be hermits away from society. They don't want to be
swamped with requests. But to have a shaman learn that
magic is surprising. Course Z'leyra is a shaman and knows
more than the typical shaman."
Kasha: "So wait. Cetric can save him. Then do it!"
Cetric: "The ritual will take hours and most of what I need
is back home. Plus to ensure his spirit returns to the
body I will need a fellow shaman near the river lands to
help guide his spirit back. That is his main skill."
[The party looks at this surprising news. They wonder if
Cetric is being honest now or a Deciever as Ben'dar has
said before. But what choice do they have to trust him.
Then suddenly memory flashes in folks heads. A few
days earlier Cetric and Caladan had talked quietly
after a burial detail was done. Though they talked
quietly as folks passed they could hear the conversation.
Those that heard the snippet below were - Chion and
Unali. Thus they recall this scene.]
----------------------------------------------------------
From - Game Update #85 in sequence (file #311]
[As they talk Cetric and Caladan start up a conversation
alone as the others divide up into groups.]
Caladan: "Promise me one thing Cetric. If some of my
friends don't make it through this you'll use your
ability to help them?"
Cetric: "They don't trust me. I don't blame them. But
even with my truth talk they still don't trust me.
You know what trust can do in a battle. Cause conflicts
and distraction. I was hoping they would change their
views but I guess not. As to saving them if they allow
it or need it I will do so. But you know the costs the
spirits demand."
Cetric: "Ben'dar is the main one that doesn't seem to
trust you. Course that confrontation at the wolf site
didn't help matters. Some of their have soften their
views. I do know of the cost. But being alive is a
better alternative. Even if the body is weakened."
----------------------------------------------------------
[Meanwhile...]
From Strie'bog:
Strie'bog, shocked first by the effect of the explosive
arrow, and then at the death of Caladan is slow to respond.
As Thig talks about the claw, Strie'bog adds, "my mother
spoke of how difficult it is to destory items of great
power. It may take more than we possess currently to
destory the claw. I can ask for the Wisdom of the Court
of Life to see what can be done with the claw, but let us
first find somewhere with greater safety. If all else
fails, we could seek the wisdom of my mother."
Thig: "I suspect to destroy the item will take some
strong magic. The problem is as long as we have it
there will be people who wish to find and use it."
Strine'bog:
After Caladan has been "preserved," Strie'bog will wander
through the camp, singing a song of mourning for Caladan
and all who died this day. Though he knows the pain of a
battle's aftermath, he sings with sincere compassion for
the loss of life.
Balrog: "The song is good and needed. But we need your hands
to get to work as well." [He says this not to offend but
with the haste of leaving fast all hands are needed.]
----------------------------------------------------------
[Meanwhile...]
From Ben'dar:
[During discussion about the claw:
Ben'Dar examines the claw with undisguised interest. He
murmurs, "It seems a shame to destroy such a powerful
thing. This claw would be extraordinarily useful in my
work training horses. I say we do not destroy it. I am
willing to take it with me. I will keep it far from
Zen'Dan lands.
Thig: "The person who would have the claw would be in constant
danger. The Zen'da I don't believe are behind finding
the claw. Whoever is would search for it and could find
you using it. Do you want that risk for you and your ranch?"
Ben'dar:
Later on during discussion about what to do:
Ben'Dar nods in agreement with Cetric about the girl's right
for revenge. But then he holds up a hand and says to the
girl in Zen'dali, "Wait. You don't want this man to have
a quick, easy death, do you? Besides, we need him and all
these others to get some answers about who is behind this
and why. It may mean war for your people, and we have to
know. We must take them back with us to let the warriors
of your tribe question them properly. Then...your right
for revenge will be more than satisfied. I will speak
for you in this matter before the men of your tribe."
(OOC: Ben'Dar guesses that whatever man (father, brother,
husband?) would have spoken for her is dead, a victim of
the attack on their village.)
[The female listens and looks at Torg (the big Warrior) who
smiles and taunts her. Her eyes are full of rage and hate
but she slowly nods. But Ben'dar gets the feeling she
may need to be watched in case she changes her mind.]
Ben'dar:
To Farseeker, Ben'Dar says, "If a rider has gone to the
village only five miles away, we have much less time than
that. A large force could be back here within the hour,
and we will be moving slowly. We have many villagers and
prisoners to move. We should leave right now. The
villagers can ride on the spare horses - two people to a
horse if need be. Balrog, let's hitch up the wagon and
we can transport the prisoners in it."
Ben'Dar will keep busy with the horses and hitching up
the wagon.
Farseeker: "That assumes he took with him some light source.
I doubt he had a torch. So he may be slow moving in
the dark an could be lost. But once the sun comes up then
that's the danger time. I agree we don't have much time."

Villagers: These folks who had the bugs on them ARE the
villagers from the one attacked. They aren't Bova

other villagers do others to help free party members

--------------------------
[Balrog is open to taking the animals with them. However...]
Balrog: "Not that cow! It...spat at me!"
-----------------------------------------------------------
[Meanwhile...]
Thig: "Taking the 12 warriors could be good and bad.
I've been thinking. If we take them then there
will be no witneses. We should leave some so they
don't try to attack again. They'll think twice. Also
if they know the Claw is taken their morale will decline.
On the other hand if we take them it will slow us down
even more. We don't have enough horses for the villagers
and the 12 prisoners. They'll have to walk. I
have a suggestion" [he grins] "I could use soem of
my mind magic. I could make all but one or two forget
what happened here. I could then put in suggestions
and scary images of what happened here. Including an
important suggestion that the claw was destroyed right
in front of their eyes. If that was done news of the
claw would not spread beyond this camp...hopefully.
What do you guys say?"
-----------------------------------------------------------
[Before Cetric explains his secret...]
[Chion in rage and sorrow casts a Teleport spell and
leaves the party...]
GM: Handled in email.
-----------------------------------------------------------
[The party hurries around knowing there could be a new force
coming soon. Some gather gear, some prepare the animals.
While others protect the prisoners.]
GM: Ok. Need some more votes to know what to go by.
Once that's done I can move things forward. It looks
like no questinning of prisoners will be done till
safe from the looks of it. What about Thig's plan?
Actions? Comments?
Next update Monday...
