[Recap]
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Fremea sees the snake fly past her chasing Corona and then go for
the attack on Arawn. That will just not do and she flies to attack
the snake from above, doing her best to not be seen by it till the
last possible minute, yet not taking time to make herself unseen
at all.
GM: Ack.
---------------------------
From Raban: [Re: Actions]
<Some ants are pretty mean and they can get to places you cant
reach, so don't underestimate small size>
<Did not need the light to see its ready, but no serious effects>
[Raban knows continuing is risky, but the potion could be worth
even more to everyone later, so he continues working. At least
once its mixed the wind will be less likely to just blow it all
away and it can be put away to fight.}
Raban does not look up as he says, "Thanks, just a little more
time and I can put it away."
<Once he can safely put it away or down, Raban will join the
fight. If need be he can tie the necks in neat bows. By that point
he should be upset enough to jump on the snake and try strangling
it with its own necks if not pulling the heads off...ick! Or if
the body is small enough around, hugging it to death...yup Raban
is upset, its time for no holds barred action so he can get on
with the rescue ;) At least it wasn't a many nozzled hydrant...>
MG: Ack. Yep. Ants can take down a horse if en masse. Its not the
size of the snake per se as much as the length in this case.
Jumping on snake Yee Haw! It is like Slim Pickens on the
missile in Dr Strangelove.
---------------------------
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Hmmm....so much for the Concealing Mist keeping her safe from
enemies. Not sure if the sudden darkness is magical Z'leyra keeps
the amber in her grasp as readies her greatsword. She will
continue fighting the multiheaded snake but switches to being
defensive about it while she observes the snake to see if it is
regenerating the damage done. She yells "Huge multiheaded flying
snake!"
If the amber and greatsword is dropped again she will cast Orient
Self EL1 and Dark Sight ELmax on herself while trying to avoid
taking damage.
GM: Ack. Snake has good sense of smell and happened on you so didn't
need much info to locate you especially since you stayed in
pretty much same location.
---------------------------
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Sorry about this but nix my last posts mention of using magic
to track Z'leyra. Had to get a clarification on a spell and
with Z'leyra's high MDV it could be difficult pinpointing her
location in just 1 phase and Arawn doesn't want to try Sky
Knowledge just yet so here's the updated info-
He'd switch to calling to Corona,
"Corona, help Z'leyra. Fremea, follow if you can. We'll catch
up!"
If the beast falls this phase to others, before his action, Arawn
will begin mundane tracking, following Corona if he returns to
get his attention. He'll wait for the others to follow him but
will try to get them started right away.
For the fight, Arawn will defend Raban, using his sword
defensively and taking a blow for Raban if it would disrupt his
potion making. If the creature doesn't return right away Arawn
will cast Fist of Battle, using the Tongue of Morrigan to enhance
it. After casting Fist Arawn will switch to using he weapon EL
offensively.
GM: Ack.

[New Stuff]
[Ma 2nd, 1633TH. 5th Day of Adventure #4.
[Location: Chaos domain, Dark Lands, 9 Miles up, Flying Island]
[Time: 9:58:30am]
GM: Now that both groups are in synch will do one scene from
both point of views for cohesion.
[Kiet begins to build up magical energy for a spell on this
new threat to the group.]
[Corona flies and makes it 50 feet from the others and begins
to circle back having lost the flying snake it seems. He
doesn't know it stopped to attack Arawn.]
[Fremea flies toward the flying snake taking a lightly higher
angle of attack to strike from above. The problem is not
finding the creature as it is 40 feet in length its hitting the
creature in the right spot. Fremea dives toward almost dead
center about 21 feet behind the front end of the snake and
stabs while flying as fast as she can. The dagger hits the
body which is about the size of a small tree (3-4 feet around)
and sticks for a half second on tough scale hide but penetrates
and does 6 points of damage to the snake.]
[By this time the snake has moved off from the group when Fremea
attacks it. It seems to disregard the damage from Fremea and turns
back around and starts diving toward the group in a wide flying
arc. It finds Unali looks a bit tasty and decides to center its
attack on her. But since Arawn and Raban are in the immediate same
area the snake can do 3 attacks at once. Using all 7 of its heads.
As it flies toward and then past 3 heads strike at Unali, 2 at
Raban and 2 at Arawn. The first head attack she blocks with her
dagger defensively and it doesn't make contact. The second and
third bite. The first in left center chest mid-ribs doing 5 points
of damage in a intense bite and the other in the right arm doing 2
points of damage. Two heads strike at Raban but the first is
blocked by Arawn's sword and the second misses entirely. Two
heads strike at Arawn. The first misses entirely and the second
hits his Elven shield and slides off it with no effect.]
[Meanwhile the other snake near Z'leyra dives again toward her and
3 heads strike out. One strikes but doesn't penetrate her magical
chainmail. The other two miss entirely.]
[Raban can hear the hissing of the snakes and the slap of scales
as it seems to fly overhead. He hears one grunt as Unali is
bitten and doesn't know who was hurt. He twists his body to
the right to get away from the roar of the wind. Using his
large hands he cups the mulch of the plant and grabs the wine
skin. He begins to delicately place the pulped plant into the
wineskin of wine. As he does he speaks out loud.]
Raban: "Thanks, just a little more time and I can put it away."
[Unali finds her clairvoyance has been good this day but it
seemed to not help her in this encounter. Using her magical
dagger she strikes out at the creature before it flies off.
The stab goes good and hits in the long body doing a good 7
points of damage.]
[Ben'dar raises his pike but tries to move into a good position
so not to hit the three just attacked. But by the time he does
the snake is away before a swing can be made.]
[Arawn sees the snake fly away and his swing goes wild as he tries
to react in time but the snake fled the area too fast plus his
defense of Raban took some of his action out. He glances down to
see Raban using the wineskin and nods to Raban's comment. He knew
his swing would be futile but he speaks out loud in hopes Corona
will hear him.]
Arawn: "Corona, help Z'leyra. Fremea, follow if you can. We'll
catch up!"
[Chion has no good shot at the snake but stands his ground.]
GM: Wasn't sure of action other than Sai.
[Caladan raises his war staff but is too far off to react in
time as well.]
[Meanwhile almost 500 feet to the north Z'leyra looks around
for her sword. Now that she can see holding the amber resin
she finds it quickly. Looking away she realizes the snake
is circling back around her. She twists and loses the beast
in the clouds until it quickly shows up to be lost in another
gray mist. She grabs her sword and places both hands back
on it while holding the amber. When it just attacked her
she notices the heads were the same She can't get a good look
at the body since its so long to tell if it is regenerating
or not. She yells out but the howl of the wind is too great
and the distance too far to be heard by anyone. She knows the
concealing mist went away almost 2 minutes ago but she decided
to head on and scout the area anyway.]
Z'leyra: "Huge multiheaded flying snake!"
-----------------------
[Kiet speaks quickly and waves his hand toward the flying snake
and its last location. Suddenly in the dark mist of the clouds
flame is seen. The creature begins to descend as flame shoots
from its body and heads. With a skid that causes wet sand
to fly in every direction it lands 10 feet away from Kiet on
the ground with flame that seems to have no smoke. Most of its
body is either bleeding or on fire. The group notices 5 of its
heads have burst into flames and are cinders. But two still
hiss alive as well as the tail also moves. Kiet smiles at the
smoldering snake.]
[Corona flies over the party and faintly hears Arawn yell and
realizes that indeed Z'leyra might be in trouble. He begins
to make a course in that direction knowing it could take a
few seconds to get to her.]
[The other snake dives toward Z'leyra again. All three snake
heads are able to make contact. The first on her left shoulder
doing 1 point of damage. The second upper left chest just under
the shoulder doing another point of damage and the third again
where the previous bites are - center left at the ribs but fails
to penetrate her armor.]
[Raban hears a wet loud splat behind him but continues to finish
mixing the potion. Finishing he places the top on the wineskin
and begins to shake it to "mix" it. Sure there might be chunks
but the force of his shaking should get most of it down. He
is no expert potionist or herbalist but it should be ready.]
[Unali turns and sees the fallen snake. She jogs quickly toward
it and finds the tail moving back and forth. She leaps over it
as it moves toward her but finds the tail seems weak. She
stabs it and the tail stops moving.]
[Ben'dar moves toward the burning snake and to the moving heads.
He swings down on the 7th head but the body is so small and
quick the blade misses the snake head.]
[Arawn turns and notices the shaking of the potion and decides to
remain her in case there are other flying snakes. He sees
the burning snake and decides a spell would be a waste as only
the 2 heads seem to be alive.]
[Chion moves toward the burning snake and rounds the head to
stab at head #3 and snips the head of it slicing through it
and killing the head.]
[Caladan comes and helps Ben'dar try to bash the last living head
but fails to bash it as it moves quickly in a last ditch for
survival.]
[Z'leyra swings her greatsword at the snake but fails to hit.]
[The last snake head #7 strikes at Ben'dar but it is not able
to use its body to move further close and misses entirely.]
-----------------------
[Corona continues flying northward toward Z'leyra.]
[Fremea continues northward flying hopefully toward Z'leyra.
She doesn't know exactly where she is but occasionally gets
a glimpse of Corona's whiteness in the clouds.]
[The snake dives toward Z'leyra again. Two heads make contact with
left and right shoulders but fails to penetrate. The third makes
contact on her neck and penetrates her chain and helmet armor doing
a massive 6 point tear of flesh even with luck on her side.]
[Raban looks over his shoulder at the burning snake and figures
the danger is over. He shoulders the wine skin and places the
materials in his pack and remembers to return them to Caladan.
He begins to stand as he tells the others he can now move and
head toward Z'leyra.]
[Unali checks her wounds and finds them bleeding but pressure
stops that. She doesn't feel warm poison at least at this point
going through her so figures the snake had none.]
[Ben'dar swings his pike and hits the last head and chops it off.
The last of the life ebbs from the snake.]
[Arawn helps Raban stand and moves over to the area where Z'leyra
left some tracks. He considers using a tracking spell but knows
her MDV would likely cause him to fail and badly. Using the fire
and his night vision he quickly finds her boot tracks. He
waves to the others to group up.]
[Caladan steps over the snakes and nears Arawn.]
[Meanwhile Z'leyra stabs at the fleeing snake and hits in the
body doing 6 points of damage.]
[Kiet follows up alongside Arawn and waits to move out.]
-----------------------
[Corona and Fremea continue flying northward.]
[The snake attacks Z'leyra again but two heads fail to strike
the third hits but doesn't penetrate armor.]
[The other group lead by Arawn and his night vision, Raban with
his amber vision and the fading bush light head northward
following her boot tracks.]
[Z'leyra does another slash and does another 7 point wound to
the flying creature.]
-----------------------
[Corona and Fremea continue flying northward.]
[Snake attacks Z'leyra again and the first contacts but fails to
penetrate her chainmail. The other two heads fail to hit
entirely.]
[The group continues northward into the darkness losing the
light of the burning snake and bush.]
[Z'leyra slashes at the fleeing snake and cuts down the body
of the creature at about 35 feet and ends at the tail doing
a massive 9 point slashing wound. The snake impacts at
the wet ground and rolls a few times.]
[The 7 snake heads are still alive and wiggle but the body is
virtually dead so it can't move toward Z'leyra.]
-----------------------
[Corona and Fremea fly northward more.]
[Arawn continues to lead the party northward.]
[Z'leyra quietly moves to the snake and her bleeding wounds
itch but she ignores the pain. Going low she swings her
sword at the heads and cuts off 5 immediately as they go
flying to the right into darkness. The last two heads try
to strike but the length of her sword makes her out of reach.]
-----------------------
[Corona and Fremea continue flying northward.]
[Arawn and the other groups continue to move northward.]
[Using her greatsword Z'leyra bashes the last two heads into
a wet messy pulp. The snake finally dies.]
[Z'leyra puts a hand to her major neck wound and tries to put
the bleeding to a stop. Suddenly the snake lurches forward
and two heads lunge at her and clamp down onto Z'leyra's
neck and tearing it to shreds. Z'leyra gasps for air but finds
her throat is shredded. Grasping her neck she collapses to
her knees and looks shocked. The snake then wraps its tail
around her body and begins to crush the life out of her. Z'leyra
tries to fight back but finds it near impossible with her neck
wound and blackness gets to her eyes as she falls into a mortal
sleep never to wake up.]
[As Raban runs he blinks his mind's eye to the vision his mind
creates in his imagination. Hoping that Z'leyra is okay he
runs forward almost passing Arawn at times hoping that his
imagination is not truth.]
[Z'leyra circles around the head of the beast three times and
ensures it is not regenerating like a hydra. But there is
no evidence of such. It seems the snake is indeed quite dead.
She stops the bleeding as best as she can and then sits on the
wet ground ignoring the damp soil. She digs through her bag
and finds a spare tunic and uses it to clean the sword and then
sheath it. She then quickly pulls her satchel out and gets some
healing materials.]
[At that time Corona flies over and reaches the area where Z'leyra
is and lands near Z'leyra. Seconds later Fremea passes over and
almost misses the shaman but notices her and circles back and
lands to find the dead snake and Z'leyra's bad wounds.]
[Z'leyra begins to tap her drum and cast a shamanic orientation.
Then using her Healer skill she prepares the wounds and finally
casts a high level healing spell mainly on her bad neck wound.
The neck wound heals up almost instantly going from a heavy
wound to a moderate wound for Z'leyra. She now still has several
bite marks but they are all light each but in total to a moderate
level wound overall.]
[Z'leyra begins bandaging up her remaining wounds and as she does
about 20 seconds later the other group arrives. They are happy
to see Z'leyra alive but wounded with bite marks on her ribs
and blood on her chainmail.]
[The others inspect the snake and find it is like the other one
they killed. Now at a closer look at the snake and its 40
foot length. This one like the other has seven heads and seven
necks. Now that a closer look is seen the scales are green with
streaks of red. Now that those who can see in the darkness look
the center head (#4) has horns that look like platinum. All other
heads have horns of bone.]
[Arawn on further look decides this beast has to be of kototh
nature but is unsure without further study.]
[Ben'dar finds the beast somewhat unique in that it gave the
party some spirited fight for a change.]
[Fremea inspects her dagger and notices more minor cracks in it
even her nice Elven alloys seem to cater to damage.]
[Raban is glad to see Z'leyra alive though she and Unali took
some serious wounds while he didn't. He is just glad his
vision of his imagination didn't come true.]
[Caladan leans on his war staff as Z'leyra continues to dress her
wounds and bandage her ribs with help from Raban. He glances over
to the dark form of the dead snake and recalls what he saw in
the light.]
Caladan: "These snakes are called Herensuge. My father once had
to chase one from the southern mountains that preyed on one
tribe near the Ba'ru cattle herds. They love to prey on large
herds like it. These seem more fierce to go after us. Quite
strong as some of us found out. But they are not poisonous
as far as we found out. None of our warriors died from poison.
These beasts are night creatures though....I guess when it
got dark they left their quiet area in this place. Maybe
a hole in the ground or small cave?"
GM: Two minutes pass as the party prepare to leave.
[Time: 10:01am]
[The party gathers up any things they need to and heads out
again this time as a group rather than scouts. Fremea, Raban
and those who see in the dark take up point. Corona gives
Z'leyra verbal directions as he flies overhead.]
Caladan: "This structure must be small. I mean land up here
has to be expensive to maintain and use as a flying surface.
If this structure is the castle it can't be as big as Maros's
Palace or even Ki'ama's citadel. it has to be likely small
and functional only. Course I could be wrong. At least
we survived that encounter. it could be worse."
[Almost on cue by the gods who have a sense of humor thunder
clap brings rain onto the party. It is rather cold and intense
sheets of rain that suddenly brings visibility down to a few
feet. Corona informs the party is near the structure and
soon after everyone seems completely drenched a white structure
is seen about 20 feet away. It looks to be a gray stone that
stretches into the mist maybe 30 feet high and maybe 30 feet
wide in front of the party. It likely goes on in both directions
more but with the rain and lack of good visibility it is hard
to determine. Those with night vision cups their heads to
see if there are lights but see none. Fremea and Arawn do
basic mana sensing and seem to detect no magic in the immediate
area of the wall itself.]
Caladan: "What now?"
[Suddenly the blurry image of the stone seems to party and show
bright yellow light. Light of inside normal light that is.
It breaks the darkness and seems to reveal a large doorway.
In the doorway glistening in the light and blurred by the rain
stands a large being of humanoid size. Arawn senses no magic
from him at this range. But the begin seems to stare at the
party and then as if a dwarf is trying to waddle up to a bar
stool waddles back a foot or two. When he does this the light
of the inside seems to shine on the being and the party notices
it is brown, black and metallic looking. The being seems to
stare out and then raises a left long arm and gestures as if
to say "Come in." But at this distance it could mean just
about anything without further inspection.]
[Time: 10:02am]

Next Update...Monday...
GM: Sigh. Another mistake. This one not all my fault! The
Concealing Mist of her Sheath is not EL9 but 4. A big
difference. This means by time Z'leyra gets to the snake
attack it is gone. She has decided she'd continue on rather
than going back to the other group at that point. Radius also
reduces to half. Alex seems to have found this mistake and we
corrected it. Technically would not have done anything but
maybe given her a severe hit or two more than a normal hit due
to the mist's effects. I'll punish the Dwarves later for
their error in notes. They are off in China now. Seems some
person told them about wrestling events and thought they
meant dwarf wrestling.]

Raban 77% [Moderate Damage]
Unali 78% [Light Damage]
Z'leyra 73% [Moderate Damage]
Note: All others in 100% shape.
GM: Ok. For potions I'll allow those 2 minutes while Z'leyra
bandages up for drinking of potions. I know Fremea wishes
to drink. I assume Raban. Any others? In case it could
interfere with future events I'll accept takers for the
potions up till next Friday (one week). After that based
on future events it could offset situations (hinder or help).
So say now or not say at all. :) During this period if
folks wish to also heal up one last time let me know with
same time limits.
GM: At this point the situation will go slower and updates slower
and likely smaller. So we can take this slow or fast
depending on responses but will not rush things myself. We
are 7/9th the way done with this adventure already.
