Game Update #60 in sequence (file #287)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Admin Notes: Now the hard part begins.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
[Recap]
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
GM: I need to know what to do with the fallen three.
"Please don't kill us..." - Kiet
GM: Ack. Famous last words for tombstone huh? :)
------------------------------------
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra says "We must quickly restrain those affected by the
Beasts Of Fiery Hate, else they may run to their doom. Does
anyone have the Forgetfulness spell? That is what will cure
them." She moves to restrain Chion. "I can cast purification
and loan magic items that should increase the success chance
of the Forgetfulness spell."
As she restrains Chion she says "I will be happy to use Perception
to determine the magical values of the gargoyle's sword." She
would also use her armorer/weaponsmithing skill to determine the
quality of the sword.
After turning Chion face down, tying his wrists behind him and
blindfolding him Z'leyra says "According to the text I read
those affected by the Beasts Of Fiery hate act as those affected
by the spell Silent Terror, they either run from anyone and
everything or they go catatonic until some spell can make them
forget - though some are said to just be catatonic till the next
dawn. I have my doubts about dispelling the Silent Terror but can
try it if necessary." She then ties Chion's ankles so that he
won't run and fall off the cloud island while befuddled by the
Silent Terror effect.
After all those affected are restrained Z'leyra will renew her
Orient Self (EL0) and cast Perception thru her staff on Chion
trying to see if Silent Terror still magically affects him as a
spell that could be dispelled. She will also cast Perception
(thru her staff) on the gargoyles sword if it is handed to her.
As usual she will inform the others around of what she perceives
while she does the Perception spells.
GM: Ack.
------------------------------------
From Raban: [Re: Actions]
[Raban picks up the Kings Sword to keep it from other nasties.
<If the sword tells him how to use any specials, the following
may change>
[Knowing Sword is not one of his better skills, Raban will offer
it to the others to use. Raban: "Does anyone need a magical Sword?
I think someone else could put it to better use than I could. I
am going to need tougher armor, if we keep fighting like this. My
leather is just useless scraps now, though maybe I can repair some
of it, if we have time."
<LOL low greed factor is rare for my characters, I better be
careful.> <The only way to get Better Armor right now would be
magic, maybe a skilled transmute? Or find some and somehow adjust
its size?> <I don't recall the repair rules for armor off hand,
but likely its too far gone at this point. Unless I have a roll
of Duct Tape! Duct Tape is like the force, it has a light side
and a dark side and it binds the universe together, so surely
it can fix armor.>
[After checking his supplies.
Raban: "Does anyone have some Fine Wine? I have some Angelica
that could be made into potions that could help us greatly. I
thought I had the wine, but I must have drank it with a friend
a few days ago and forgot to buy more."
<yup I find no listing on my sheet for fine wine...oops>
[After a quick check on the others, Raban sees there is little
need for his meager talents in magic, though his size may help in
other areas. Raban: "I am sorry Z'leyra, my training has not yet
included spells to cure the mind. I can only help you keep them
restrained."
GM: Ack. Good duct tape joke. :)
------------------------------------
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
If the Perception spell on Chion indicates to her that Dispelling
the Silent Terror could and likely would work to bring Chion back
to his senses Z'leyra will cast a max EL Purification, wrap her
spell chain around Chion and her wrists and cast Dispel Chaos at
max EL through her staff to dispel the Silent Terror. She will be
careful to target only the Silent Terror spell, avoiding
dispelling other spells or items. If the dispel works and Chion
comes to his senses she will untie and release him.
If this has been successful she will repeat for each other person
affected. Note that she will be draining her mana batteries
equally for these spells.
GM: Ack.
------------------------------------
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
When Z'leyra explains the situation surrounding the catatonic
members of the group Arawn kneels down beside them, his hands
rolling their heads so that he can look into their eyes. Without
looking up he says to the shaman in a serious and steady voice,
"I will see what I can do for them."
Arawn will then attempt to cast Forgetfullness, while using the
Sidh tongue, on each of the catatonic characters until they are
all awakened or it seems clear that the spell is ineffective in
dealing with the problem.
When he is done he sits back with a distant look in his eyes, as
if deep in thought, clarity occasionally returning when he focuses
on local scenery. At one point he shakes his head as if unsure
of something, Is it possible...?"
His brow furrows for a moment and then he stands up and addresses
the party,
"I'm not certain about this just yet but as while we were walking
something was gnawing at me. Between my recent scans and the
information shared by the air spirits something hit me. When I
was young I remember the Dagda telling me a story of an ancient
and magical land one time while visiting my parents court. It was
quite a whle ago and my memory is hazy but I think it might be
possible the Dagda spoke of Lymria. He spoke of a time when the
concepts of the great Alignments did not yet exist, when Chaos
and Law weren't even the barest of dreams and the True Worlds
were in their infancy. One of these lands was a place of great
magic, magics that nearly rivaled the gods themselves, but in
mankinds hubris these enchanters turned on each other and
destruction ensued.
The key point I remember right now is that due to the nature of
magic and the fact that the great Alignments were not yet in
existence, all magic was unaligned, as I've said before it
naturally is. What this means is that spells that most currently
might attribute to an Alignment, say Necromancy to Chaos for
example, were not given by nor solely used by forces currently
often attributed to Chaos and Evil. The most compassionate and
loving person could just as easily call upon such spells just as
the most vile and evil of beings could use magics of peace and
harmony. Magic was just a tool, raw potential.
With this in mind it could very well mean that despite apparently '
Chaotic' forces present as well as magic that seems attuned to
Chaos, that this place, as well as its master, could very well
be a kind and gentle person or even someone in need of our help,
as I think back to mention of a 'cursed one' or some such thing
in the prophecy. I suggest we tread carefully and try to avoid
rash actions when we can. I think communication might be key
here."
With that he moved over to where the fallen gargoyle king lay.
Kneeling down to inspect him he seemed surprised when he
discovered the slit throat.
"Raban, did you do this?"
He sounded very disappointed as he added,
"I was really hoping to speak with him. I think we need to find
out more about this place and just what is going on here. Right
now I'm sorely tempted to bring him back for questioning..."
He stood over the body seemingly unsure what to do next...
---------------------------------------------------------
While near the bodies of the Beasts he will take samples from
them for possible use at a later date along with scales from the
gargoyles.
---------------------------------------------------------
In regards to Kiet and Raban's discussion on armor Arawn will
reply, "I think we may find some items further ahead but if you
are truly concerned about armor in the immediate future I may be
able to do something about it... if the enchantments here are all
encompassing," he said, looking up towards the sun as he did so.
Forgot to add at the end of the 'story' Arawn says,
"Now if I can just remember the rest of that story..."
GM: Ack.
------------------------------------
From Raban: [Re: Reply to Arawn]
[In response to Arawn on the King
Raban: "No I crushed him unconscious and broke a few of his
bones, but I do not know how his neck was injured."
[In response to Arawn on the Armor
Raban: "I have never needed much armor before, but if this
continues like it has I will need it badly. If it is not too
costly for you to use your magic on repair or replacing my
armor, then I would appreciate you doing so. You may need your
magic more later, so perhaps it is best to save it. I will
survive without my leather armor, I will just have to avoid
being hit so often."
[Raban will remove the scraps of his armor and think about
whether he needs change his clothes. He smiles as he wonders
if the ladies are watching him...
GM: Ack.
------------------------------------
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Fremea will scout around, making sure there are no more creatures
lurking, while she is still invisible. In no way does she want
anything to do with the sword, mostly since it is Iron. As she
has noticed that there are more capable readers than she, and she
has no really idea of what to do for the fallen three, she will
be on guard waiting.
When she becomes visible again, those who are looking will notice
that she keeps looking at Chion, with a look of almost worry and
then she steels herself again.
GM: Ack.
------------------------------------
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
When Arawn reveals that he knows the Forgetfulness spell Z'leyra
will offer to cast Sidh Purification for him and to let him use
her spell chain (looped in a figure eight around caster and
recipient's wrists it increases the chance of a spell working)
and even her staff (for 2 extra mana spells cast thru it a spell
gets an improved chance of working) to help overcome the MDV of
the victims. She also offers to cast Luck on him to improve the
chance of success.
GM: Ack. In the posts it appears he didn't take up the offer at
this point. :<Update- Opps he did accept later. One problem
with tons of info get to it later. :)
------------------------------------
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
After hearing this Arawn studied the area around the king looking
to see if it might have been a freak accident. After doing so he
addresses the group,
"Considering that we are the intruders here and taking into
account the possibility that this place could be the same one in
the story, we might want to capture versus kill when possible. At
the very least the information gleaned could prove valuable."
He looked at the king and shook his head,
"A shame," he looked up, "If it wasn't Raban, was it anyone else
here? If not, then I worry what else might lie in the mist."
Arawn will graciously accept the offer and take any and all
possible aids to increase the chance of his spells working.
GM: Ack.
------------------------------------
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
A voice on the wind from Fremea, "I made sure that he would not
come back to hurt us ever again. Intruders or not, if they wanted
to talk then bringing weapons to do so was a bad choice. I was not
going to be surprised by that one again. I will make sure that
there is nothing else in the mist for now. If what you say is true
and that magics were unbound in the past and unaligned, then I
hope for the sakes of the residences here, they will come talk to
us unarmed and not attacking us in the first place."
GM: Ack.
------------------------------------
From Arawn: [Re: Reply to Fremea]
Arawn looks quietly at Fremea for a moment before saying, "Thank
you for answering Fremea. I would have to say, though, that not
all are inclined to ask questions first when defending their land,
among elf, human, or gargoyle. Then again, they were linked to a
great war and they might still be in a state of it even now.
Still, it is not an issue of simple civility I bring forth but
one of information. This place is deadly and powerful and it
might be best if we try to understand what is going on here,
magically and socially, before making a move that could prove
disastrous, hence the desire to communicate.
I am not asking for anyone to not defend themselves. I'm just
asking that we try to find an avenue of information instead of
killing it off, when possible."
GM: Ack.
------------------------------------
From Fremea: [Re: Reply to Arawn]
"I shall hold my blade back at your request, unless whoever it
is decides to not hold their blade. If you desire, I can do my
best to communicate with something first and get information from
them or keep them from attacking us next time."
GM: Ack.
------------------------------------
From Arawn: [Re: Reply to Fremea]
"When the situation permits, course, and thank you, Fremea, I
appreciate it."
GM: Ack.

[New Stuff]
[Ma 2nd, 1633TH. 5th Day of Adventure #4.
[Location: High Elder Ki'ama's Citadel, Dark Lands]
[Time: 9:35am]
[High Elder Ki'ama exhales deeply and robs his head. In his very
long and fruitful life headaches are few and rare. But this time
a headache comes from concentration. Having returned from his
personal wizard's tower inner sanctum, he looks slightly tired from
a full day's work or intense reading. Even at his extreme age
things still tire the wizard. He leans back into his silk chair
and the door opens after a brief knock. Oby carries a silver tray
with two crystal glasses and a small bowl.]
Oby: "Your headache powder Master Ki'ama."
[Ki'ama takes a spoon full of powder the Citadel Herbalist uses for
such situations to cure his headache. Its a tame material and not
even remotely magical. But it does the job. He sips some water
and then takes the other glass of fruit juice. He nods to Oby who
holds the tray back toward him. Oby glances around the room to see
Ki'am's pet is gone. Not in any corners, Oby gives a visible sign
of relief.]
Ki'ama: "He is off tracking my lost item. Speaking of which what is
the status on it? It has been two days since the guards were
attacked and killed."
Oby: "Suca continues the investigation. The bodies have been moved
to their resting spot. The guard's family will be compensated.
Wizard Te'u has used his Akasha powers to reveal that he says
shadowy creatures attacked the four guards and slaughtered them.'
He doesn't know what they are but they move like oil on water very
slippery he describes. He has been summoned here to the library
to look at our creature beastiary tomes to see if he can find them
there. From what he could find no human was revealed. It could'
be just have been a forest attack by some monster wanting to
kill. I don't get why it took four guards rather than just one
quick messenger to return the item."
Ki'ama: "Possible. I lent the item to him so he could fix some
problems in his forest village. Didn't expect it to be stolen.
I'm sure he used four to protect it out of respect. Things like
this happen all the time. The forest is indeed wild and very
dangerous. Our magical prowess seems to draw things this way."
Oby: "Suca wants to question him but seeks your permission first.
With Truth spells if possible. He feels you loaning out your
magical items to wizards is dangerous."
[Ki'ama smiles and nods. He loves the rivalry between Oby and Suca
sometimes. Its so predictable.]
Ki'ama: "I trust the wizard but if he allows it truth spells can be
done. But it would be dishonorable to ask. Suca will have to do
it in such a way as not to ask. Get Zhou to help out he knows how
to do such things. As to loaning out things its part of life. As
a wizard has problems my inventory can help them. In order to
maintain balance here in our fine realm we must allow one to gain
some power then others to seek the same level. Through this means
we improve all our lifestyles. Improvement is our goal here after
all. I know when to give things and when not do. This small item
is powerful but not many would know how to use it. At least not
the true power of the item."
[As Ki'ama's headache quickly fades he drinks some juice.]
Oby: "You could still not reach Chion's group through the staff?"
Ki'ama: "No. That is why my head aches. It could be the staff has
been destroyed or the demon escaped from it or it is in a place I
can't reach."
Oby: "is that good or bad?"
Ki'ama: "I don't know yet. I will keep trying. It could be other
magic affecting it and distorting my contact."
[After a brief pause.]
Ki'ama: "Will our friend who requested the item come here?"
Oby: "No. He was supposed to travel with the guards to return the
item but his wife went into labor."
Ki'ama: "That is right. We'll have to send them something...."
[As Ki'ama speaks of gifts, Oby can't believe Ki'ama's trust in his
old and new friends. Sure he fears no one due to his power. But
Oby finds the total trust of his wizards a wrong. Even Suca agrees
on this and both men protect Ki'ama in this area. Even the
Sorceress he seems to trust but at least not as much as he used to
when she talks about separation and conquest. At least he is
learning to not trust her that much....]
--------------------------------------------
[Location: Chaos domain, Dark Lands, 9 Miles up, Flying Island]
[Time: 9:38am]
[The mists seem to move even faster now as winds seem to pick up.
Hair, clothes and sand blow in this strange place more intensely.
Raban checks his wound and finds it minor for now and not so
immediate concern. He doesn't understand the slit throat of the
King creature but wonders if he did more damage than he thought.]
[Z'leyra looks at each person to see who may have been wounded. At
this point only Raban took damage. She helps to stop the bleeding
and takes off his shredded armor. Applying pressure on the wound
she inspects for internal possible damage but finds little. She
notes the added damage and figures he is in moderate shape compared
to Unali and Caladan who have light wounds still.]
[Z'leyra goes over to the fallen three and checks them. Their
pulse is strong but at times jumps as if in a fight for normal and
abnormal rates. Likely from the fright the minds of the three are
feeling in their minds. She sighs recalling what she has read
about the Beasts of Fiery Hate.]
Z'leyra: "We must quickly restrain those affected by the Beasts Of
Fiery Hate, else they may run to their doom. Does anyone have the
Forgetfulness spell? That is what will cure them."
Unali: "Thig used it many times, including once on Chion, but I do
not recall if anyone has the spell in this group."
[Unali asks if she notices any effects of the terror spell on
anyone else in the party aside the three affected. Arawn does a
quick glance and sees no black aura.]
[She recalls some tidbits of the Beasts from the books. Their main
god is that of Chrononzon one of the chief gods of the Chaos
courts. A nasty god indeed that uses evil like it is candy to human children. The Tome she read about these beasts in the Great
Ticasi Library told of one Chaos Wizard in Donara who summoned two
beasts. He sent them into a village quickly putting over 100
people into a catatonic state. Then like a conquering warlord he
looted the village of everything and took personal slaves or human
sacrifices for later rituals after his troops had fun with the
female population. Here they must've made a good guardian for
this place allowing little to journey here and live. Z'leyra
grabs some of Kiet's rope that he has on his persona and ties up
Chion's wrists.]
Z'leyra: "I can cast purification and loan magic items that should
increase the success chance of the Forgetfulness spell."
[Z'leyra glances at Raban holding the King's sword.]
Z'leyra: "I will be happy to use Perception to determine the magical
values of the gargoyle's sword."
[Z'leyra rolls Chion over onto his back and blindfolds him so that
for one he doesn't get scared at the sights around him and so the
party doesn't get scared on what they might see in his own eyes.
Fear seen in people can do damage as well, especially for group
morale.]
Z'leyra: "According to the text I read those affected by the Beasts
Of Fiery hate act as those affected by the spell Silent Terror,
they either run from anyone and everything or they go catatonic
until some spell can make them forget - though some are said to
just be catatonic till the next dawn. I have my doubts about
dispelling the Silent Terror but can try it if necessary."
[Z'leyra ties up Chion's ankles knowing that if he ran he could
fall to his death. In his state he wouldn't be able to teleport
to safety. Of course its not the fall that kills you its the
sudden impact at the end that does.
GM: Will assume hand over the sword Raban since you seem to not
particularly want it or claim it.
[Z'leyra gestures for the King's sword and Raban shrugs not really
useful to him. Holding the sword she puts it on the wet ground
and grabs her staff and drum. She explains she'll be in a trance
for this spell and will need to be heard to remember what she says
as she'll forget once the spell is over. She firsts casts the
spell on Chion and learns the catatonic state can be dispelled
like any other normal magic spell. Then she speaks of the King's
magical sword. It has a increase chance of hitting enemy, damage
boost and as expected a paralysis spell inside it that can release
about 3 charges per day. She finds the spell itself is low barely
that of apprentice level for magic. She exits out of the trance
a few moments later and places the sword back on the ground to
hear the results back to her. From her glance she reports the
sword is of simple design as a sword and not overly sophisticated
for a weapon of its type - very typical.]
[Raban picks up the sword as if expecting it to talk to him and
give its secrets away. He twirls it and slashes the air as if
in a fight but finds it awkward in his hands.]
Raban: "Does anyone need a magical Sword? I think someone else
could put it to better use than I could. I am going to need
tougher armor, if we keep fighting like this. My leather is just
useless scraps now, though maybe I can repair some of it, if we
have time."
[Arawn cleans his sword quickly having dispatched the Beast and
gotten up from under it. There is little need to talk to this
beast as its pure chaos nature would be futile. He ignores the
dead body and moves closer to Z'leyra, sheathing his sword. Arawn
listens to Z'leyra explain about the beasts. He has never seen
one before but he has heard stories as a young Elf. The usual
stories parents tell kids, even if they are gods, to scare them
to sleep. Stories of the Abyss are just like any horror story
or campfire story humans tell. Arawn sees the blindfold on Chion's
eyes and places his hands on it and reveals one eye. He opens
the closed eye and Z'leyra looks around slightly wondering if she
should stop this. But figures he knows what he is doing. But
then again Thig had to see his targets to make them forget as
if they had to connect eye to eye, mind to mind. Arawn sees slight
images in Chion's eyes flash so quickly he can't figure them out
images his mind must be seeing and dealing with, terrifying
things. Without looking up he responds to Z'leyra.]
Arawn: "I will see what I can do for them."
[Raban sighs at his lack of helping the others in the areas of
dispel and forgetfulness. But he still feels he has become a
integral part of this group. After all when a giant needs to
charge a dragon who else will they call?]
Raban [to Z'leyra]: "I am sorry Z'leyra, my training has not yet
included spells to cure the mind. I can only help you keep
them restrained."
[Arawn can sense the black aura of the Silent Terror spell in its
full glory. Like a darkness over a candle. Z'leyra pulls out her
26 inch magical spell chain from her satchel and wraps it around
her wrists and Chion's wrist. She then grabs her staff and starts
to cast her Purification spell to cleanse the ground. Raban
and Ben'dar come over and hold Chion down just in case his mind
decides to fight back. Arawn glances over to see the chain and
the magical aura it gives. Z'leyra is a jumble of magical auras
of many colors that would take awhile to figure out. Z'leyra
notices mana energy building through Z'leyra, the chain, some
items on Z'leyra and her staff. A swirl of massive energy. The
ground becomes white a sign of purified ground and Arawn nods to
the aura of purification. Z'leyra then casts a high level dispel
chaos spell on the Silent terror. With her staff, magical luck
item, chain, purified ground and high level spells she has little
chance of failure. Arawn glances back down as the words are
spoken and notices the black aura disappear. Almost immediately
Chion opens his eyes and begins to twitch as if feeling the
effects of pain but in this case its a deep emotional pain. Raban
and Ben'dar hold him down. Z'leyra realizes that they didn't
stuff something into his mouth and he could in some slip up cast
a teleport spell or worse a spell on the group. In the need to
escape he could just simply teleport away. He begins to mumble
in some strange rambling tongue and Arawn quickly begins to cast
his forgetfulness spell. he looks into Chion's eyes which dart
back and forth in a paranoid state. Using his Sidh tongue he
enhances the effects of the forgetfulness spell. Chion and Arawn
lock eyes and then suddenly Chion sags and closes his eyes.
Everyone waits and then he opens them again and jerks his hands
in surprise. He asks what has happened and looks around to see
the four around him. Confused he is helped to sit up and his
hands are free. It seems he has forgotten the horrors of what he
has seen. Z'leyra explains about the beasts to Chion and Chion
looks around to notice the dead Gargoyle King and beast nearby.
He shrugs and wonders why his ring didn't protect him. He'll
have to research it later. Maybe it doesn't protect in this form
of spell? Little mention of the Abyss is made but just that he
was knocked out by a spell quickly. Chion sits up and is glad to
see no one is dead on his side. But he notices Kiet and Caladan
still down. During the repeated forgetfulness spells Z'leyra loans
Arawn her spell chain and explain how it works.]
GM: Had already cast the forgetfulness spells and all 3 worked.
Then I saw that he accepted the loaned items. :<
[Two minutes pass as Chion is observed quietly as Z'leyra and
Arawn make work. It is best to ensure he doesn't come back to
some of the effect. Finally satisfied Z'leyra, Arawn, Raban and
Ben'dar move onto Caladan. Caladan is restrained, held and
then the dispel and Forgetfulness spells are cast with the same
results. Finally the four move onto Kiet and repeat the process
one last time.]
[Kiet sits up and notices he is tied up with his own rope. He
wonders if his rope spell backfired. But then Z'leyra and
Arawn explains what happened. Kiet sees the beast with the
cat head and is almost glad he didn't fight the creature and
was safe more or less, asleep.]
[The three downed wizards stand and collect their stuff. Sweat
and moisture is on them as if they were in a marathon run but
they don't realize it was sweat from a subconscious fear. For
Z'leyra she recalls seeing Triest hit by the same spell and heard
his screams. Some say the Abyss is just a place of fire, brime-
stone and demons. But others believe it is a private hell that
caters to each person. Z'leyra wonders what the three men saw
in their minds. Perhaps Chion saw all his victims killing him
over and over and his Katai friends turning on him. Perhaps
Caladan saw his honored ancestors and spirits he worships turn
against him and tear him apart. Perhaps Kiet saw ropes chasing
him and tearing at his flesh as if live creatures who would
bind, eat, torture and choke the acrobat. Z'leyra can figure
these things out but dares not seek those answers.]
[Arawn sits on his knees and looks around and considers the current
situation. He has been here for about 15 minutes now with the
party and attacked twice so far. He tries to recall the prayers
and knowledge spells cast to see if he can gleam any of his
closed memories. But as he does he comes to realize other past
memories. Deep in thought he ignores the chit-chat around him
as the trio recover from their states. He looks around at the
trees and clouds as if recalling something. He cocks his head
as if considering something in the dark corners of his mind.]
Arawn: "Is it possible...?"
[Caladan looks over after picking up his staff.]
Caladan: "Huh?"
[Arawn stands up and dusts off his wet pants. He then speaks to
the party as a whole.]
Arawn: "I'm not certain about this just yet but as while we were
walking something was gnawing at me. Between my recent scans and
the information shared by the air spirits something hit me. When
I was young I remember the Dagda telling me a story of an

example, were not given by nor solely used by forces currently
often attributed to Chaos and Evil. The most compassionate and
loving person could just as easily call upon such spells just as
the most vile and evil of beings could use magics of peace and
harmony. Magic was just a tool, raw potential.
With this in mind it could very well mean that despite
apparently 'Chaotic' forces present as well as magic that seems
attuned to Chaos, that this place, as well as its master, could
very well be a kind and gentle person or even someone in need of
our help, as I think back to mention of a 'cursed one' or some
such thing in the prophecy. I suggest we tread carefully and try
to avoid rash actions when we can. I think communication might
be key here." [After a brief pause.] "Now if I can just remember
the rest of that story..."
Caladan: "What is Dagda? So this place might be what High Elder
Ki'ama claims. We could be part of history here."
[As the others let Arawn's words sink in, Arawn walks over to
the dead Gargoyle king to inspect him. He finds the throat
slit but no other sign of damage on the outside.]
Arawn: "Raban, did you do this?" [He lets out a sigh of regret and
disappointment, having wanted to talk to the King.] "I was really
hoping to speak with him. I think we need to find out more about
this place and just what is going on here. Right now I'm sorely
tempted to bring him back for questioning..."
Raban: "No I crushed him unconscious and broke a few of his bones,
but I do not know how his neck was injured."
Arawn: "Considering that we are the intruders here and taking into
account the possibility that this place could be the same one in
the story, we might want to capture versus kill when possible.
At the very least the information gleaned could prove valuable."
[He looked at the king and shook his head,] "A shame," [he looked
up,] "If it wasn't Raban, was it anyone else here? If not, then
I worry what else might lie in the mist."
[From some distance away Fremea's hair blows as she hears the
disappointment in Arawn's words. She saw the creature as a threat
not one for information. Her words are low but have to be raised
above the howl of the wind.]
Fremea: "I made sure that he would not come back to hurt us ever
again. Intruders or not, if they wanted to talk then bringing
weapons to do so was a bad choice. I was not going to be
surprised by that one again. I will make sure that there is
nothing else in the mist for now. If what you say is true and
that magics were unbound in the past and unaligned, then I hope
for the sakes of the residences here, they will come talk to us
unarmed and not attacking us in the first place."
[Arawn looks quietly at Fremea for a moment before saying.]
Arawn: "Thank you for answering Fremea. I would have to say,
though, that not all are inclined to ask questions first when
defending their land, among elf, human, or gargoyle. Then again,
they were linked to a great war and they might still be in a
state of it even now. Still, it is not an issue of simple
civility I bring forth but one of information. This place is
deadly and powerful and it might be best if we try to understand
what is going on here, magically and socially, before making a
move that could prove disastrous, hence the desire to
communicate. I am not asking for anyone to not defend themselves.
I'm just asking that we try to find an avenue of information
instead of killing it off, when possible."
Fremea: "I shall hold my blade back at your request, unless whoever
it is decides to not hold their blade. If you desire, I can do
my best to communicate with something first and get information
from them or keep them from attacking us next time."
Arawn: "When the situation permits, course, and thank you, Fremea,
I appreciate it."
Caladan: "A the very least these creatures could just be simple
pets. Dogs to us humans protecting the home from intruders
always vigilant to their duty."
[Arawn stares down at the body unsure what to do next. He knows
he has drained a moderate amount of magic energy today and
even he has his limits. The day is young and the castle hasn't
even been reached yet, if it exists. Plus time is a factor if
the party continues to stay here it could draw more danger.]
[Arawn leans down and cuts a few scales from the gargoyle and
then heads over to the dead beast and gathers some hair samples.]
[as Arawn hears Raban and Kiet talk about their weak armor
compared to the others, Arawn gives his view.]
Arawn: "I think we may find some items further ahead but if you are
truly concerned about armor in the immediate future I may be able
to do something about it... if the enchantments here are all
encompassing," [He glances toward the obscured eastern sun to
see how much time he might have.]
Raban: "I have never needed much armor before, but if this
continues like it has I will need it badly. If it is not too
costly for you to use your magic on repair or replacing my armor,
then I would appreciate you doing so. You may need your magic
more later, so perhaps it is best to save it. I will survive
without my leather armor, I will just have to avoid being hit
so often."
[[Raban removes the scraps of his armor and think about whether he
needs change his clothes. He smiles as he wonders if the ladies
are watching him. OF course the party might find more armor
later on but will they find some in his size?]
[Fremea spent the first few minutes flying around looking for other
creatures but finds nothing. Of course she can't go far or be
lost in this mess maybe only 50 feet around the party at even that
is dangerous after about 20 feet with the winds and mist. She
lands and waits as the others heal and cure the fallen three. At
one point some notice a bit of worry when Chion is worked on but
she quickly recovers to show no emotion when he is awake and
sitting up.]
[The party gives the trio a few minutes to get back to normal.
During this time Raban looks into his bags for some wine.]
Raban: "Does anyone have some Fine Wine? I have some Angelica that
could be made into potions that could help us greatly. I thought
I had the wine, but I must have drank it with a friend a few days
ago and forgot to buy more."
------------------------------------------
[Time: 9:51am]
[It has been about 13 minutes since the attack of the Beasts and
about 22 since the party teleported up. The group begins to stand
and forms up in a group again ready to travel on.
[Fremea takes the guiding staff back in hand and takes up point
as the party forms up in thin columns behind her. Using a wide
arc movement the group begins to turn a bit north-east.]
[Time: 9:53am]
[Suddenly a shadow flies over the clouds where the sun is in the
eastern, right side of the party. The party looks up to see a
strange form fly by without it seems wings. It flies about 8
feet above the party and the sun shows features of what looks
like a lion head, snake tail and a head of a goat on its side?]
[Caladan looks up and seems to recognize it after a few seconds
having fought one before years ago.]
Caladan: "Chimeara."
[The creature continues forward and slips into the mists out of
sight. In the distance ahead of the party a sound is heard
like it may have landed some distance away.]
[Caladan leans on his staff and sighs. He looks at Arawn and
smiles.]
Caladan: "Go talk to it we'll stay here."
[Ben'dar turns around and can't help but snickering. Ben'dar knows
the history of talking to folks in this group they seem to die.
Caladan also knows how this beast tends to act. Kill and talk
later so Caladan let's Arawn go first.]
Caladan: "If you get eaten can I have your nice sword?" [he grins
in a fun jest.]
Actions? Comments?
Next update...Friday...
GM: King's Sword if no one claims it I'll put it into the party
treasury to be sold later and gold divided up equally. This
goes for any other future treasure as well. If one claims it
I'll give the exact numbers of the weapon.
GM: Raban - Armor would take days to repair very likely. Sorry
plus you'd need tools. :< Maybe something else can be done.
GM: Sorry for delay - got some last minute stuff and was bedtime
before I finished "old" stuff and got to the new stuff the
small text at the bottom here about the new encounter.
Sorry about length as well got a bit wordy and lots of action
posts (which is fine). All three fallen are awake and good.
The creature didn't seem to attack maybe it didn't notice you
guys until the last second and decided to land and then take
you that way. But you are lucky it didn't ambush first.
