[Recap]
From Raban: [Re: Actions]
<Nasty fight so far and lots of fun. Unless Raban spots one of
the ladies in trouble he will first take care of the battle axe
man. After axe is down, he will turn back into the room. At that
point it will depend on what he sees. The metal man attacking a
lady will enrage him and thus become a target. Otherwise there
are many bad men to deal with.
Raban does not know just how to handle the metal man if needed,
but few things can face him in a battle of strength so wrestling
may work? Picking it up and smashing it down of a fiery figure
would be great fun ;) >
[Raban is quite upset at these men. Why did they not run away
instead of making him kill them? But they threaten those he
protects and thus they must be dealt with, there is not time to
be more gentle. Now one seems to think I am a tree to chop down!
GM: Ack. :)
------------------------------
From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
Ben'Dar sees that the party is being overwhelmed. Now the
strange metal man is attacking them! He glances over and sees
that Z'leyra is hurt badly and is being pummeled by the metal
man. Thoughts skip through his mind in high speed. Fight on?
If he does, his friends will die. Surrender? It is a bitter
pill for the proud Z'enda warr ior to swallow. Were he alone,
he would fight on to the bloody end. But he is unwilling to impose
that decision upon his friends.
Ben'Dar takes the risky move of stepping in between Z'leyra and
the metal man. He holds his pike defensively and shouts to Arawn
(in the Marentian tongue), "Tell him we surrender!"
Ben'Dar will heed whatever Arawn says.
GM: Ack.
------------------------------
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra doesn't take the hint that folks want to stop fighting.
She figures that if she is going to die she is going down
fighting. She continues to attack offensively trying to kill
A'kril as quickly as she can.
Note that the magic from drawing her greatsword should be in
effect.
GM: Ack. All except the mist of course.
------------------------------
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Hearing A'kril's shout Arawn immediately called out to the
others.
"Stop! A'kril is willing to speak!"
Assuming that the group stops their actions and A'kril's men pull
back as well Arawn will call back to A'kril in Sidh as he points
to Z'leyra.
"Done! Please, end the Darkling Light now!"
If most of the group complies with the request to stop but
there are one or two still trying to fight Arawn will attempt to
deflect their blow or intercept with his own body if necessary,
while trying to calm them down. If there is still time he will
then ask A'kril to stop the spell killing Z'leyra while or after
doing so.
OOC: Not sure if Chion is dead but if there is interest
(including any other characters that might die) Arawn would be
willing to Resurrect them though it might take him a few months
to get the spell up to a level where they won't be permanently or
severely penalized. Not out of line for him, especially as he
might stick around to help the fallen here, assuming that they
are not truly evil.
GM: Ack.
------------------------------
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
While fighting Z'leyra says "Any of those who have Mana Sensing
see where the Darkling Light came from? Point it out and lets
destroy it!"
GM: Ack.
------------------------------
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Just in case things continue to go bad, if he can do so without
distracting himself from his other actions Arawn will attempt
to sense where the magic is originating.
GM: Ack.

[New Stuff]
[Ma 2nd, 1633TH. 5th Day of Adventure #4.
[Location: Chaos domain, Dark Lands, 9 Miles up, Flying Island]
[Time: 10:19am]
[Turn 2: Phase 1]
[Mana Allocation - None]
[Missile Fire - None]
[Magic Effect -
[Arawn knows that Z'leyra may be doomed. Before he is told
he looks around and extends his mana detection senses. He
senses the magical users Caladan, Z'leyra, Kiet, himself and
various magical things like the fire wall, the floating
statue and various items on various people. He looks all
around and up into the hanging candle areas. But no sense
of the magical ward. He recalls what Ki'ama said about this
place. Such a place from a magical land, where magic is as
common as peasants are in Marentia. This place would be
rigged up for magical cliches, traps and situations. The
cliche spells like detection, teleport, fire ball and even
Invisibility would be protected from. when Z'leyra activated
her invisibility the magical ward went off. But where is it?
Arawn is surprised she didn't expect such a thing in this
place. What better way to defend a room against magical
visitors - wizards for sure - is to plant such defenses. But
of course those same wizards would expect defenses. It
causes an almost neutral ground of sorts. A'kril if he is a
descendent of the ancient masters would expect such tactics
like invisible wizards. So would those visitors. Arawn is
confused by a general sense of magic but can't pin point it.
He hasn't felt that way since he was in the Balance Courts -
Zehuti maybe when he was too young to understand. Seems
like his parents had to visit for some formal meeting
something about a lich in the middle world in some nation
called Thaliba? In that court he had that same sense of
general magic but was confused by it. His mother explained
that there are magics that can block magical detection.
Magical wards that can hide and double block while defend
against magical detection. A form of shield against
detection by those like the sidh or other detection spells.
His father said the humans have almost forgot those ancient
spells but some may still exist. In the split second it
takes for him to realize this he figures this castle might
be a place of many such magical blocks. Magical blocks
can be used two ways he recalls to block detection and to
also detect the detection and relay magical defenses.]
[Melee & Movement -]
[With Raban's back to the open door threshold he doesn't see
the metal man, flying statue enter the room. He hears some
words but is a bit too busy to figure them out. He still has
a crazed man swinging a axe trying to chop him down a few
pegs. Raban is too tall to duck and weave a axe but he can
hold his ground. He sees his chance and punches the man
straight on. His large fist impacts the man's neck just
below the adam's apple and just above the chest area (where
cuts are made for breathing by healer's). The impact knocks
him backwards and knocks his breath out but he doesn't seem
to fall. If it had hit the apple dead on the man's breathing
would have been final.]
[Unali twists to the left around the door and stabs blindly
at the man in the doorway. Her magical dagger hits the man
in the right arm doing massive damage slicing tissue and
hitting bone. The man gives a slight scream of pain and
drops his drops his sword. The other normal dagger hits
the man in the upper left chest doing more damage. But the
man continues to stand.]
[The confused swordsman by the cabinet decides the cabinet isn't
so interesting and turns and heads south-west. He bumps into
guard 12 who pushes him away annoyed. The dazed man heads
then north-west and passes Arawn. He bumps into the couch
and hits his foot hard.]
[Ben'dar sees reinforcements arrive including the floating
statue and metal man. It seems Chion must've been killed by
them as he is no where to be seen. If he can be killed then
the party is certainly doomed. Fremea, Raban and Ben'dar
thinks Unali is missing. Leaving only Caladan, himself,
Arawn (who doesn't seem want to fight) and almost a critical
Z'leyra. Ben'dar knows he and Caladan can't handle this many
without hindering or dooming others like Z'leyra. He can't
figure out why Z'leyra would kill herself going after this
A'kril guy rather than healing herself. He sighs and
moves to south of the fire wall and comes around. He could
have only seen Z'leyra partially but knows she is there based
on guess work. He saw the metal man go there so figures it
is attacking her to defend A'kril. Ben'dar raises his pike
and tries to move between Z'leyra and the metal man. But
there is only a few precious inches, maybe a foot, at most.
He uses his pike as a prod and wedge and the metal man
slightly confused steps back a foot. Ben'dar tries to pry
himself in between but the metal man's strength is too great
and the large thing doesn't budge a inch. Ben'dar growls that
this will be a bit harder than thought.
Ben'dar yells in Marentian.]
Ben'dar: "Tell him we surrender!"
[The man with the battle axe staggers back gasping for air
and is so shocked by the blow doesn't raise his axe for
an attack as he tries to breath again.]
[Arawn hears Ben'dar and is glad to see the warrior come
to some of his senses for a change.]
Arawn: "Stop! A'kril is willing to speak!"
[Arawn turns around and raises his arms up to show he is not
holding weapons and shows a sign of deference, a thing no
Alfar should be made to do. He pleads with his eyes at
the new comers and then twists around to look at the fire
wall and hopes A'kril understands.]
[The man Unali just stabbed drops his wounded arm to the side
clearly not able to use it. But with his left arm he grabs a
dagger in his belt and turns. Using a off hand he stabs
forward and hits Unali just below her left breast in the ribs
past her chainmail and dagger to block. She takes a minor 3
point wound for the first time in this place.]
[Guard 7 (G) who was sniffing Z'leyra's hair in a confused
manner seems to find Raban's back rather interesting and
just stares at the large man.]
[The other guards stand their position confused by the situation
and figure the metal man can handle things or they seem leery
of the statue and metal man?]
[Z'leyra hears Ben'dar talking about surrender and knows that
the man's death will end this situation. She swings her
great sword into the fire again. The great sword hits A'kril
this time in the center of the chest slicing tissue, organs
and ribs doing massive damage. As she does she beings to
speak.]
Z'leyra: "Any of those who have Mana Sensing see where the
Darkling Light--"
[A'kril falls to his right toward the west. His clothing
begins to catch on fire and he falls to the ground.]
[Caladan remains near the door and considers his options in
case battle with the reinforcements occurs.]
[Kiet heads toward the guard looking at Raban and comes up behind
him. He knows that killing the confused man might be a bit
wrong. It was one thing to kill the choking man for mercy but
this one would be wrong if things went to peace talks. He
decides to try to knock the man out. He brings the dagger up
and bashes the man on the back of the head. The man falls
back and Kiet catches him then lets him drop to the floor.]
[The Metal Man punches Ben'dar and lands his metal hand in the
man's lower left chest under his ribs. The blow is tough
but so is his armor. Ben'dar takes a point of damage.
Ben'dar wonders if the being is holding back?]
[A'kril gags on blood and looks toward Arawn and smiles.
Blood comes out of his mouth and he says something in Sidh.]
A'kril: "I'm free..." [It comes out almost as a whisper of
deep relief.]
[Then the fire on his clothes reaches his legs and chest and
his eyes roll up and he slumps. Clearly dead.]
[Fremea glances to the right and moves toward the desk. But
she notices it has no drawers just a flat wooden desk with
a candle stand on it. Not much else to search in the room
she decides to head to the open door. she peeks around
and finds the foyer the party entered from. She groans
and sighs and turns back wondering what to do now.]
---------------------------
[Turn 2: Phase 2]
[Mana Allocation - None]
[Missile Fire - None]
[Magic Effect - ]
[The statue's stone ball glows a faint yellow and then
brightens. From it a ball of yellow energy shoots toward
the back of Arawn. It impacts and Arawn' lurches forward
for a second and feels energy roll through him.]
[Melee & Movement- ]
[Raban continues his attack this time following up with a
full kick toward the man. The kick goes middle left
chest and is light for Raban but it knocks the man
backward further and he falls to the ground seemingly
knocked out.]
[Unali stabs again but the magical dagger fails to hit as she
brings up the other dagger to block future blows.]
[The swordsman who hit the couch looks down to A'kril. The
damage from his toe seems to bring him back to normal
thinking mode. He sees A'kril clearly dead. He glances
to the right and sees Z'leyra, Ben'dar and metal man fighting.
He glances right and sees Kiet then over his shoulder he
sees Arawn. He turns quickly and moves toward Arawn. He
seems to have figured out all what was said in the last
few seconds. He sheaths his sword and comes in front of
Arawn. Arawn stares at him confused and tingling from the
statue's magic. The man reaches up with one hand and
unclips his helmet. He then lifts it up and drops it to
the ground. As he does Arawn becomes ill at the face
of the man. Now Arawn sees his face clearly away from the
face covering helmet. The features are as if looking into
a mirror. He sees pointed ears and a face that can only
be that of an Elf. Arawn's mind races in confusion. But
unlike the gray-pale features of normal Elves this one seems
black-dark like black leather. His eyes are bronze and
his lips are a bit of a odd tan color. How can a Elf look
like this? The man, no Elf, smiles and nods at Arawn.]
Elf: "An honor Alfar."
[Arawn is happy at this but can't seem to move his lips or head
to nod. In all Elf society Elves don't fight other Elves.
Humans are barbarians and do that sort of thing. But it is
just not done. This man would never-]
[Arawn's skin burns as he suddenly realizes a dagger has been
plunged into his chest. The blade seems to have been
thrust past his magical armor as if a weak spot was just
known--]
Elf: "To kill."
[Arawn realizes that the Elf who likely knows such Elven
armor knows weak points and just stabbed him! It feels
like Arawn is losing air as the pain rises. Why would this
Elf stab him! It makes no sense. He must've done it
while he grabbed a dagger from his belt while pulling off
the helmet. But why?]
[Ben'dar hears a voice like A'kril a bit off more in the
distance behind him and a thud. He is unsure what just
occurred but it sounds like a man falling. Ben'dar is too
distracted by the metal man to look behind him to see if
Z'leyra got her target. He tries another strength blow
knowing that the pike would likely do little against the
heavy metal skin. He pushes forward and to the left toward
the fireplace mantle. But again the metal man seems to
remain in place like a wall. Ben'dar growls and looks over
his shoulder and notices a man in front of Arawn. But
where is Arawn?]
[Arawn falls back onto the ground and notices the candles
in the chandelier. They sparkle to his eyes and he notices
two candles are not lit. Some servant must've not lit them
earlier? Then the moment of pain comes back to him. He
tries to move his arms and legs but can't. then he realizes
something hit him a spell likely a paralysis spell. He
can't even talk. Mentally he yells. A'kril falls to
Z'leyra dead likely dooming this entire party. Now this
strange Elf, his kin, kills him. A Elf would not kill
another Elf just hap hazard and CERTAINLY not an Alfar...]
[The four guards at the back of the room see A'kril fall to
Z'leyra's sword and raise swords. They rush forward in
various directions...
Guard 9 (L) rushes past Arawn, past the dead armored man,
past the dead A'kril and toward Caladan. The sword slices
his Right arm and does massive tissue and muscle damage of
6 points to the Zen'da.
At the same time Guard 10 rushes forward and rounds the
couch toward Z'leyra. He swings at her but fails to hit.
Guard #11 (O) heads toward Raban and thrusts at his back
but the sword slices just past him and misses by an inch.
Guard 12 (P) rushes toward Kiet and swings his sword at
the acrobat but fails to strike.]
[Z'leyra realizes the she made contact with A'kril and probably
kills him but can't see through the fire. But now some twerp
guard is attacking her. She swings her sword and hits the
guard in the chest slicing but doing only 8 points of damage
to the guard. She stops her statement about the ward when
she realizes she doesn't seem to be affected anymore.]
[Caladan swings on the guard attacking him but fails to hit.]
[Kiet ducks and grabs a rope segment.]
[The Metal Man swings his hefty arms at Ben'dar but the pike
seems to help this time and the magic helps the man miss.]
[Fremea gets back to the other doorway, the secret door and
looks in. She notices that guards have moved forward. One
is close attacking Kiet. Some others are attacking Z'leyra
and Raban. Then she gasps as she notices a man, no an
elf, stand over Arawn. She is shocked to see Arawn on the
ground with blood on his chest. She notices the metal man
and the Statue is still there.]
[The Statue twists its stone head and scans the room for signs
of other targets or something else.]
Actions? Comments?
Next Update...Monday...I hope...
GM: Arawn - Nice twist of fate huh? :) And to think the man
was once near you before he rambled off toward
the other side of the room then came back. With
A'kril down the guards reacted. The plan for
peace seems to have begun but with his death seems
to have gone down the tubes. You feel the wound
and figure its not mortal though you could bleed to
death if left alone. It seems this strange Elf
rather see you suffer or gloat or kill you next
few seconds. Your not sure. You can't move and
you figure the spell that hit you must've come
from the statue. But your amazed it got past your
own magical defenses. Unless of course this room
was purified for such magic and offset that defense?
Until someone can help not much you can do but if you
wish to react to situation you can. :)
Ben'dar - You feel the metal man is stronger than you maybe
twice as strong? In a pure strength thing your going to
have some problems. You haven't used your weapon but it
would be like attacking a metal door. With Arawn down and
a guard over your shoulder seeming to attack Z'leyra you
guess the attack is back on. You couldn't get in
between Z'leyra and Metal man. Just no room for it.
Fremea - New actions?
Kiet - I figured you wouldn't attack based on past actions.
Your email bounced back saying you were on vacation so
wasn't sure what you wanted to do. I did figure you'd
KO the other guard at least?
Raban - You will turn around to find a new threat and likely
see no Arawn (past couch/angle). Might see the metal
man to your right. See No Z'leyra or Fremea (due to
angle and cover. What to do after the guard?
Z'leyra - Since not in ICQ I couldn't go over alternative
actions live. I went on posted actions to kill A'kril.
Since A'kril had ended the spell the previous phase when
Arawn tried peace again you weren't affected in the first
phase. But since no alternative actions or not in ICQ had
to go on what was only posted to kill A'kril. Your
still damaged heavy wise. Do you continue to fight or
do other actions?
GM: Nice point to stop this update huh? A bit of a surprise that
was set in motion by pure random circumstance. If A'kril
hadn't died the man wouldn't have done what he did. If
he hadn't hit his foot on the couch taking enough pain to
falter the spell (purely random direction and movement) then
he wouldn't have come out of his spell. But once he did
and once he recognized the Alfar....:) Fate.
GM: The firewall seems to still be active.
GM: Dead or Knocked Out people are now removed off the map below.
Odds now are 1:1 8 Players and 8 enemy including of course
the metal man and statue. :)
GM: Caladan, Raban your right arms are damaged. More for Raban
than Caladan. So using the right arm will be difficult
so you'll have to use the left or resort to other means.
Just a FYI.
