[Recap]
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Breathtaking goal...to kill, or at least counter, the avatar of
a god. Phew.
Z'leyra steps forward "It sounds like a mission that must be
done, tentatively I accept. However, before I go I would want
to know a great deal more, particularly about this god and his
plans. Also, any sent should be protected from the time effects
of leaving the middle world."
GM: Ack.
----------------------
From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
Ben'Dar laughs out loud at the High Elder's speech. "First you
have us stumble into a flying death trap for you...now you want
us to take on a god? You are mad. Either that, or you just
enjoy toying with us. Make no mistake, I do not fear death,
but if this avatar wiped out a group just as powerful as us with
a tired thought, how exactly are we supposed to battle it?"
GM: Ack.
----------------------
From Raban: [Re: Actions]
Raban listens quite carefully, unsure if he is hearing things
quite right. His goddess would be opposed to such a being, is
this why she guided him here? But how do you fight such a thing?
If I can reach it I should be able to hurt it, or maybe just grab
it and squeeze? Can it cast spells if it cant use its arms? I am
going to have to get those answered before we go after this
fiend. Dieing for a cause is fine as long as you succeed, but no
way am I going to get killed for nothing! If they can get me
protected enough, I can charge this thing and give it a scare
to remember. I can take more damage than a half dozen regular
people, it may not be able to stop me like it did the others...
Well I can hope.
<Assuming this was not an April Fools posting...naw its only an
avatar thats not that bad. Actually any written up for PnP can
be quite easy to kill if you know what you are doing.>
[Re: Balance/Spell rule]
There is never a simple solution.
But you definitely do not want books or scrolls making it too
easy for mages. So godlings will be a big problem, thats what
MDVs greater than 100 are for ;)
If they can be hurt by Abysmals then it may be the best way to
take them down! But yes high level high skill casters with staffs
and other useful items have a huge chance of success in general
Assuming Mel20 El10 you can have modifiers to casting of -70
pretty easily and thus need an MDV of 150 or more to be safe ;)
I do not think the party has anyone who can reach that very
easily So the best thing is not be a target to start with, use
darkness or invisibility or other sneaky methods. To kill a high
MDV target with magic you use sneaky spells like destruction and
explode nearby things, or other indirect attacks There is lots
of solutions if people think about it Transmuting the floor or
ceiling to manure or worse is always fun, it tends to distract
your target quite a lot, though it may make things worse later...
The big question is are the characters smart enough to handle
such things, can they out plan an avatar? The answer is.... Quite
likely! LOL, most deities are not all that bright, having
ridiculous amounts of power means you do not have to plan all
that well most the time. So I suggest going for the fun solutions
and make the avatar die of disgust, he will never be able to
show his head around the others after you do bad things to him.
I used my great powers to totally obliterate them! Sure you
did...but after they showed how stupid and gullible you were,
they made a fool of you...well maybe they just showed what a
fool you actually are... And the tutu looked good on you until
they dumped all that excrement on your head, you need a bath,
a really strong bath on another plane..really, go now, soak for
a few decades
GM: Ack. Would I be that evil to play some joke on such a serious
forum as this? Moi? Thanks for the comments. But yes. Balance
will be appeased for this rule change. :)

From Strie'bog: [Re: Actions]
I apologize for not posting yesterday. I'm not sure if Strie'bog
is with the group at the start of the new mission, but from the
end of Arawn's arrival...
Upon arriving with Arawn, and seeing his former companions,
Strie'bog smiles broadly.
"Greetings again my friends, it has been too long since I last
enjoyed your company. My mother's heart is healing, and the
forest once again safe. I feel the calling of the road once
more, and have come to see if I can render assistance to you."
He then goes to Ben'dar, Caladan, Chion, Unali and Z'leyra,
shanking their hands or embracing them, which ever seems
appropriate.
GM: Ack. Welcome back. I'll get back to this next week :)
----------------------
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Arawn remained silent, his face calm and unexpressive, only his
eyes moving carefully about the room. The High Elder left many
unanswered questions but before Arawn could begin Ben'dar's
laughter echoed through the room, his question echoing the
alfar's. He waited to see what the High Elder would have to
say in response to the barbarian's question.
GM: Ack.
----------------------
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
<public>
Kiet says, "Master, what physical conditions should we expect
upon arrival in the other plane, and what about magic in that
kingdom? It has been rumored that great fighters were needed for
this adventure and, sadly, I cannot count myself in that
category."
GM: Ack.
----------------------
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Fremea sits and listens to what is being asked of her and the
group. She wonders how this could play into her plans and what
mysteries lay in the upper world that she was never allowed go
to. Could she be affective against an Avatar? Could she use her
talents against one?
So, many questions run through her mind at once, and then Bendar
asks his question. She waits to see what happens.
GM: Ack.
----------------------
From Chion: [Re: Actions]
Chion sits and listens to the high elder with no smile on his
face. When the high elder is done, Chion stands and approaches
the middle of the room. He pauses for a minute and looks intently
at the high elder. After this, he says, "I am not willing to do
this thing. I will listen to what the others say before giving
my final decision." He will then return to his seat, sit and
wait for others to reply.
GM: Ack.

[New Stuff]
[Apris 15th, 1634TH. 4th Day of Adventure #4.
[Location: High Elder's domain - Citadel, Dark Lands, Forest]
[The room fills with stunned silence at High Elder Ki'ama's
words. Taking on a god even his Avatar could be quite dangerous.
Sure some have likely been "watched" by the gods for their
power growth. Chion for his teleport ability to cross the
continent in seconds. Z'leyra for her magical prowess. Arawn
for simply being in the Middle World among other people in this
group. But now the crazed old man wants them to attack
a god in his home territory?]
[Maybe it is one of those courage items the party has collected
that give a person unshakable courage or maybe its being loyal
to the Middle World or being crazy or for that matter maybe
its just plain stupid. But Z'leyra and steps forward.]
Z'leyra: "It sounds like a mission that must be done, tentatively
I accept. However, before I go I would want to know a great deal
more, particularly about this god and his plans. Also, any sent
should be protected from the time effects of leaving the middle
world."
[The High Elder nods and continues to pace in front of the room
back and forth looking at each person.]
Ki'ama: "Certainly Shaman Z'leyra. But no protection from time
when one needs protection from the gods first. indeed?"
[Suddenly Ben'dar laughs out loud, long and boisterous. So much
so his chair rocks back and forth a bit. The others glare or
look in shock. Such a barbarian needs manners in the presence
of the most powerful mage in the Middle World.]
Ben'dar: "First you have us stumble into a flying death trap for
you...now you want us to take on a god? You are mad. Either
that, or you just enjoy toying with us. Make no mistake, I do
not fear death, but if this avatar wiped out a group just as
powerful as us with a tired thought, how exactly are we supposed
to battle it?"
[The High Elder stops to a halt and glares at Ben'dar. His elderly
face turns red and he flexes his hands. Ki'ama slowly turns
to face Ben'dar and his face drains of red as calm comes to him.]
Ki'ama: "You speak wisely. I suspect this group is far more skilled
and powerful than those. I suspect you" [He waves a hand at
the party] "Could go after Surge himself, they didn't. I
have total confidence in this group. Now on the other hand
no barbarian will speak to me like that again." [He flashes
a hand straight at Ben'dar and a ring on his finger flares blue
and suddenly Ben'dar is transmuted into a old toothless hag
with bad back aches. Ben'dar stands and then stoops. He
glares at the high Elder as he hears a snicker from somewhere in
the room but his ears aren't as keen as he was when he was in
his young body.] "When you learn respect I'll change you
back."
[Raban glares at the Old Mage and wonders about this mission if
they are being requested or forced to go. Would his goddess
approve of such things? Raban tenses to see what the others
do and how they react for his reaction.]
[Arawn remains unpassive and stone faced. He stares at the
Elder though from his side vision sees Ben'dar's changed
form. In his court and other godly courts such disrespect
lessons were normal and common. So it doesn't shock him that
much. But the quickness and speed was impressive for a mortal.
Could he, Alfar or now Middle Worlder save this world or go
against his own world of the gods? Arawn is torn between two
big choices and results. Now it makes sense the previous warnings
from Oby in the debriefings.]
[Kiet knows better and remains calm. He speaks up from his
chair in a quiet but calm tone.]
Kiet: "Master, what physical conditions should we expect upon
arrival in the other plane, and what about magic in that kingdom?
It has been rumored that great fighters were needed for this
adventure and, sadly, I cannot count myself in that category."
Ki'ama: "There are no bad fighters only fighters in training as
with magic users. A good question that will be solved in
a few minutes."
[Fremea listens and wonders if her abilities will be effective
in this struggle. She is sad to know Arawn could simply be
in his own plane and could return home. That would mean no
more teaching of her things. She glances at Ben'dar in the
hag form trying to sit down but finds it difficult with the
gray hair and hump in his back. She snickers slightly thinking
it a trick worthy of the Fae.]
[Chion sits with no smile. While respect is given it should
be respected by both sides. The old man might have gone too
far this time. Chion stands silently and gets to the middle
of the aisle. He stands staff and weaponless and speaks.]
Chion: "I am not willing to do this thing. I will listen to what
the others say before giving my final decision."
[Chion then returns to his seat waiting for others and the
Elder to react.]
[Unali is a bit confused she thought she was debriefed differently.
Now this thing seems confusing. A dagger against a god isn't
so wise when he could stare at you and zap you away.]
[Under his breath he asks a rhetorical question.
Ki'ama: "Was Zing right about you?"
Ki'ama: "The god is Zu."
[Arawn recalls Zu and then suddenly realizes among many of his
titles is "the prankster". Suddenly before anyone can speak
the room becomes blurred, wavy heat like lines shift and
form all around...]
[Each of you wake up in bed and sigh at that dream. Could
some Law master have cast dreams on the party or some god
playing tricks? But Raban wakes to a more interesting dream
this one where the HIgh Elder's next move plays music and
Raban gets down and dirty with ...but it suddenly ends before
he could tell who. Darn it.]
Actions? Comments?
Next Update...Monday...
GM: Raban you were the only one to guess right! An april's fool
joke! :) Its been awhile, years, since I played one in the
pbem so figured it was time. A good time staller as well.
Nice to see all folks fell for it expect maybe Raban. Yet
he isn't the brightest giant around and we have pure
Einstein level wizards who? Go figure. :) I know I'm mean.
Sue me! Clue #1. Look at the update last week. Look
at the header just below Z'leyra in the roster the initials
AFJ? Clue 2 look at the title of the update on the game site
and its initials AFJ. Clue #3 the date clearly :) #4 You
guys really think I'd send you up against a god? :) #5 I
said I'd rearrange the site when the adventure started and
it wasn't. Ok. I had my fun :) For all the headaches
this rule change will cause me! So there. Another clue
was the Header showing [apris 15th... ] It lists as the
4th day of the adventure yet it clearly isn't. :) Think
last time I did this I killed off Z'leyra. :)
GM: I have finished Arawn's sheet. This means all IBT is done.
Just some minor errors to fix I think. I will be working
on new player's sheet this weekend. I also need time to
work on the prologuee update mainly on debriefings and such.
This update should be out Monday night. Then in theory and
all goes well next Friday the adventure details will be given.
This means likely Sunday I will recycle the site over and
clear it away for ease of reading. #4 will be a link on the
site for access but #3 will be archived. I also have to
work on Adventure #5 details. That is a bit more vital but
since I work this weekend will be harder. So might not get
that done till next week. Stay tuned!!!!
