[Recap]
From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
Ben'Dar grabs a spear and heads up to the deck once he
wakes up.
GM: Ack. No armor or clothes. Ack. :)
From Kiet: [Re: Water serpent]
Sometime shortly after the encounter with the Water Serpent,
Kiet explains to the curious amongst us what he was doing and
saying to the creature.
"As most of you know I am Lemasan, like this crew. Lemasa...
GM: Ack.
From Kell: [Re: Actions]
When Kell wakes and realizes the attack, he straps on his tulwar,
sticks on his helmet, grabs his shield and 2 spears and runs up
top to defend the ship. Waking others that he runs by, or at
least banging on their doors and shouting for help as soon as he
can.
As he rises up the stairs Kell will do a very quick glance around
and head to the least defended point, likely one of the darkest
areas on ship since dark doesn't bother him.
If things look overwhelming number-wise with our side greatly
outnumbered, Kell will attempt to Web groups of mermen, focusing
on those mermen not yet engaged and/or in the darkest parts of
the ship. [OOC - Web cast at max EL trying to web the most
mermen at once.] Then he'll join the melee. And quip one
liners as he does so. :)
"For the snake," Kell says smiling broadly and showing his...
Kell goes to both Whitney and Arawn, "Thank you both for....
Kell wanders into the two shops to see what they have for...
"I say we ask Whit to join our mission, and let him decide....
GM: Ack. Energy or Spider? Since I don't know what is odds
too great for Kell let me know when and where to do the
spells. As 50 to 1 might be good for me but for Kell 15
to 1 might be for him. :)
From Raban: [Re: Actions]
<What about sleeping in 'Leather brown jerkin and Tan vest'
otherwise add line 'If there is time Raban will go back to get
dressed'> <Yes Raban will fight naked if needed... He is not
shy>
Woken by the sounds of trouble, Raban quickly grabs his bow and
arrows expecting more sea monsters.
He also grabs his leather gauntlets just in case... Raban
rushes to the deck carrying his gear to see what the problem
is and to decide what weapons are immediately needed.
<I assume he can fire his bow while wearing the gauntlets? If
not then he will put the gauntlets in his belt for later>
GM: Ack. Sleeping in leather is fine but its awfully hot and smells
would linger. :) Not thought of it but I see no reason why
can't wear gauntlets and use bow.
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Fremea quickly grabs her bow (normal) and uses mulit-arrow(not
sure her EL at this point, basically whatever EL she can cast
quickest) to shoot at the closest merman from above (giving her
a surprise attack). (If she can hit more than one at once, she
will make sure her shot is good).
GM: Ack.
From Will: [Re: Actions]
Woken by the sounds of trouble...
hopping I wake quickly I will grab bow & arrows and daggers
and head top side. If there is any indication of an actual
attack I will cast Invs. before going on deck.
Re: Reply to Kiet
Will thinks to himself "it's easy when your hopping mad and
eager for a fight"
Re: Whitney reply
All that is fine if you have wings or fins but for the rest of
us I guess we will have to just keep on hopping.
Ole hop along
Re: Ben'dar's reply
Will thinks to himself "it's easy when your hopping mad and
eager for a fight"
GM: Ack. Hrm. Odd seems like I missed one reply? I tried to
combine all the emails into one email as I suggest folks
do when they reply to save me time. But looks like lost one.
From Kiet: [Re: Puns]
But hopping, especially up ladders, is really slow & fatiguing
and ng so before you wake is especially so...(evil grin)
GM: Ack.
From ben'dar: [Re: Jest]
Ben'Dar scowls as he sees Will hopping up the ramp onto deck.
"Where does he get the energy?" the tall barbarian wonders to
himself.
GM: Ack.
From Fremea: [Re: Jest]
It really is a good thing to wing it though. Must easier and
faster then hopping for the best.
GM: Ack.
From Whitney: [Re: Jest]
hopping for the best...winging it.... as long as we fin-ish the
mermen....
sorry, I couldn't resist
GM: Ack.

[New Stuff]
[Junaqa 7th, 1634TH]
While the Water Serpent is still on ship Kiet comments on
squirt and animal nature against snakes.
"For the snake," Kell says smiling broadly and showing his
white teeth, joking over it. Kell also thinks the fight wouldn't
be fair. Squirt would beat that snake like he owned it!
The Summoned Demi-god Water Serpent is banished back to his
home realm. Kiet turns to those assembled and explains what
the scene was about with him and the snake.
"As most of you know I am Lemasan," Kiet begins, "like this
crew. Lemasa is an island nation and the Sea is important to our
whole nation and society. This creature, the Water Serpent, is a
thing of much legend and lore. Many of our ships have devices/
decorations of some sort depicting these creatures. They are
revered as the servants of Zu and especially Manakel. Zu is
placated while Manakels help is actually sought. Anyway, all I
did was offer up my thanks to it and let it know how much its help
meant to me personally. I don't know if it understood...I don't
know if they can speak or understand speech...but it seems there
was some reaction...hopefully for good. No, I do not know what
the reaction meant."
Caladan nods, "an impressive beast for sure. In my land we
tend to kill most snakes. Of course I'm partial to them as
I have a firesnake as a companion back home. But it seemed
he understood you. I know snakes like mine and his body language
was clear that at least the emotion was understood. My guess
is he was too busy keeping the storm at bay with his concentration
that magic on him or against him or around him might've caused
an issue. But I'm no expert in such things."
Later Arawn thanks Whitney for the help and soon Kell finds
both men. Kell goes to both Whitney and Arawn, "Thank you both for
saving the ship. That was quick thinking, and I am happy it
worked. That was a terrible, terrible storm. Whitney, I for one
am glad to have you aboard. And Arawn, great job performing the
summoning during the storm." He shakes both their hands and looks
very happy, if still a bit green.
Caladan nods, "yes indeed. A great job the both of you. It
is ironic this party full of magical might enough to probably
take down a kingdom didn't know the simply spell to end
the storm!"
-------------------------------------
[Junaqa 8th, 1634TH]
[Distance this day: 38]
[Weather: Overcast, Rain]
The ship is docked in the tiny Choshai fishing village.
Zhou comments on Whitney helping the party during the storm
and plans to inform him of their mission in a few days.
"I," Kell comments, "say we ask Whit to join our mission, and
let him decide. Whilst it is very important, he may not want to
help us. If he doesn't, he goes back to the High Elder so he
cannot spoil it."
Caladan shakes his head, "I thought he said he fled there due
to some challenge? I doubt he'd want to risk that. So my
guess is between going back there, detained on ship or fighting
an enemy that likely can't be killed is easy for him."
Kell wanders into the two shops to see what they have for sale.
Everyone notices he does this at every village, when he isn't
helping with the horses, no matter how small the village.
In this case, Kell is also checking for any news of their
passage. If there are any rumors of a fast ship or escaped
prisoners from the north.
Kell also visits the tavern and listens for rumors or tales there.
He'll buy the old-timer (presumed to be there)a beer and swap a
few stories, probing for news. And he'll charm the pretty serving
wench with his best smiles and flirting for more news.
The shops are worse than a street market stall and have nothing
of value as with the other dozen or so villages. They are made
just for local folks to survive and may be lucky to get new
and modern things months later. Several like Whitney and some
sailors notice the clothing styles is at least two years behind
Katai so its slow moving up here in the forest villages.
The tavern is bigger than the last 3 towns but even here its
small and cozy. Most of the villagers inside are over 30 and
average in their 40s. Most of the young people likely are in
the cities or elsewhere. Kell tries to carouse but finds it
difficult as most of the fishermen are so tired and wore out
from daily work they only drink and leave for bed. Those
who do talk share little. The only good rumor heard is some
skirmishes on the Kll'maun north borders but those things
happen often enough. No rumors of dragons, inspections, escaped
wizards or such is heard. The big noise in the town and village
is the previous day's storm. Reports did come in from a north
village 30 miles north of here that it was hit hard. Many
buildings destroyed and at least 4 ships sunk. Many others
took massive damage in the storm. At least 3 people did die
when their fishing ships were out to sea trying to get to port.
Most of the other villagers escaped deep into the forest.
Here in this village roofs were damaged, many trees down but
the fathers planned better and placed the village on higher
ground. Only 1 ship took damage but one ship is missing and
appears to be lost or destroyed. Word has been sent to the
military to do a search while other fishing ships do their
own search.
Word of the military being called does prompt the Blue Moon
to leave swiftly.

[Junaqa 24th, 1634TH]
[Winds: Good, Speed 14]
[Weather: Clear/Sunny, Fog]
[Time: 3:55:00am]
"intruders! Sound the alarm!" The sailor yells out.
Fremea sits up in the crows nest bolted in place and braced
for something, adrenaline already starting to pump.
Arawn glances up from his book sees movement forward and left.
He glances over his shoulder left and right and notices more
shadowy movement.
[Time: 3:55:03am]
Arawn begins to build magical energy fast as he starts to
concentrate.
Fremea also begins to collect magical energy.
Arawn begins to speak in the Sidh tongue strange words. With
his right hand he drops the book. With his left he gestures
up and down and then in a circle.
Corona takes to the air into the night sky.
Merman continue to inch up the side of the ship and over the
railing onto the deck.
Fremea stands in the nest and grabs her bow and shoulders her
quiver as she peers below to scan the deck. She notices forms
at least half a dozen in various places around the ship.
In the horse hold on the ramp, Raban bolts awake. His body
jerks at the reaction of the yell by the sailor a dozen or so
feet away up the ramp. He rolls over and looks up the ramp to
see only darkness. Only the empty dark deck is seen. He
grabs his gauntlets and slaps them on his wrists.
[Time: 3:55:06am]
Fremea continues to store magical energy.
Fremea loads prepares her bow for firing. She waits for her
spell to be active before firing.
Suddenly around Arawn a fine gray-white mist is formed blocking
visibility. Almost instantly one quarter of the ship is covered
in this mist centered around Arawn. Arawn's vision is not blocked
and begins to scan the deck and for the alarm bell.
Fremea quickly speaks the magical words for her archery spell.
She glances at the bow and notices a faint aura indicating the
spell is active.
Arawn stands while grabbing the other sailor's hand who by now
has thrown down his wood and stood.
Raban dressed in leather jerkin and vest sits up and grabs
his bow and quiver. He glances to the dark hold and sees the
horses asleep but then stands.
The sailor being held by Arawn's hand grabs his dagger while
trying to jerk away from Arawn. But as he notices he is suddenly
blind in this mist he settles down trying to get his bearings.
Sailor #2, who sounded the alarm, has now drawn his sword. He
charges the nearest merman [Q26]. With a wild swing he slices
through the merman's right arm doing 7 points of damage as first
blood is drawn in this battle. The merman gives a slight howl
but doesn't scream as he grits his teeth. The merman shifts
the trident in his hands to his left hand mostly.
Now the merman as one cohesive well trained force moves as one.
The five merman on the port side all get onto the deck. Three
are suddenly cast into blinding mist as Arawn casts his spell.
Two are by the stair entrance. Those two quickly descend down
the stairs. Two exit the mist and descend the stairs and one
continues in that direction leaving 2 on the stairs, 2 on the
hold deck and 1 moving toward the stairs.
On the starboard side another merman climbs over the railing.
By now four are already on the deck and three of them move
toward sailor #2. Along with the wounded merman three
attack the sailor. Merman #6 and #7 amazingly miss the sailor
but #8 with the spiked club bashes the sailor's right shoulder
doing a minor wound.
At the same time those at the rear are suddenly thrust into
mist blindness by Arawn's spell. Two climb over the railing
and land on the deck but the other three are confused by the
sudden change in visibility. The one that stabbed sailor #1
backs a couple feet up confused by this turn of events.
At the same time the merman in the front move but they aren't
affected by the mist in this area. One climbs over the railing
to complete the last to climb from the sea. One quickly moves
toward and down the stairs. Two more move from the upper forward
platform down and toward the stairs. The other two charge toward
the surrounded sailor. The two thrust their tridents at the sailor
but his luck must be going strong as both miss him by inches.
One final Merman moves from the forward raised platform down
slowly and then moves under the forward rigging.
[Time: 3:55:09am]
Corona dives toward the port side merman who is now alone on
that side and two flashes of red flare from his eyes but the
flame dart like magic hits the deck a foot behind the merman
missing him entirely scorching only the deck.
Fremea raises her bow glancing port she finds the merman have
escaped below. Looking down near the stairs she notices two merman
are moving toward the stairs just forward of the rigging. She
points almost directly down at both and fires. A quarter of a
second after the arrow leaves the bow it magically generates
four copies of itself and five arrows almost within hairs length
fly toward both merman. The first two hit merman #17 and do 5
and 2 points to him both in his right arm. The third arrow
hits merman #18 impales him in the middle left back just under
a rib doing a heavy 11 point wound. But the other two arrows hit
the deck missing.
Raban growls as he sees a figure at the top of the ramp move
in some direction forward then hears grunts and movement.
Charging up the ramp he suddenly stops as he sees six humanoid
beings surrounding one sailor. As they are point blank he
figures bow is useless and drops it to the ground. With his other
hand he stabs the one in front of him in the lower right back
and does a minor wound to the merman.
Arawn murmurs to the sailor to come along quietly and follow.
Seeing the merman stunned in the aft, Arawn moves starboard and
slightly aft. With the raised aft platform a couple feet higher
than the deck and Arawn he reaches up to the steering platform
and grabs the metal small hammer. He rings the alarm bell as
loudly as he can. He then yells as loud as he can "Alarm! We're
under attack!" in Katai.
Sailor #3 near Arawn remains nearby confused and angry he
can't help his fellow sailors due to the mist. Sailor #2 now
surrounded by six man considers his chances He decides to a
better defended spot is better. He backs up which is only way
out of the circle and runs past Raban toward the hold ramp.
But he then twists and turns to defend the wide ramp opening
from any merman coming below. He raises his sword and says.
"Raban back here!"
All the mermen act at once again. The one just attacked by
Corona makes it down the stairs to join the other four spreading
out on the hold deck.
Merman #6 and #9 head toward the ramp and attack the sailor.
Merman #6 swings his trident at the sailor's head and hits
doing 3 points while at the same time #9 stabs with his dagger
into the sailor's left shoulder doing 3 more points. The sailor
screams this time and falls to the ramp.
As the sailor is attacked, Raban is attacked by Mermen #7, 8
and 10. The first trident misses. One uses a dagger and stabs
Raban in the left arm for a 3 point wound and the other merman
thrusts his trident and stabs him in the middle back into his
ribs just below the heart doing a 5 point wound.
Mermen #11-#15 in the rear inch forward toward the alarm bell.
Two swing tridents in the general direction. But as Arawn is
lower than the raised platform the tridents miss him entirely.
The other three hit railings or get confused in the mist.
Mermen #17 and #18 who were just hit by Fremea's arrows raise
daggers and stare up but in the dark they don't see the Faerry.
They move toward the stairs.
At the same time the others are attacking Raban #29 and #20
move toward and surround Raban. One trident misses the giant
but one hits in the chest but Raban's leathers protect him.
[Time: 3:55:12am]
Corona circles the ship not having a good target due to the mist
and not wanting to risk hitting Raban.
Fremea reloads her bow and turns to aim at the two merman at
the ramp leading to the horse hold that just took out the sailor.
She fires. Again the arrow flies out and duplicates itself into
5 arrows. All five go flying toward the two. The first three
hit merman #8 left leg 5 points, left arm 2 points and neck for
2 points. The one in the neck is a light lucky wound not a
lethal one for him as his hide is strong. But in all 9 points
is heavy for the being.
Raban finds himself surrounded by 5 mermen and now weaponless.
But his body is one big weapon. He roars in rage at the sailor
being possibly killed and this new situation. The energy of the
battle cry fuels his strength. In one swift move he raises his
right leg and rear kicks like a mule the merman behind him and
hits in the middle right chest crushing ribs and sending the
merman flying backward killing him before he hits the deck. At
the same time he thrusts out with his right hand and punches
as hard as he can at the one in front of him hitting the merman
in the chest this time lower right with enough force to as if
be hit by a tree trunk the man goes flying forward and onto the
deck.
Two decks down Unali wakes up at the sound of the muffled
alarm bell. She doesn't hear Arawn's yell as its too far below
and muffled but the tone of the alarm is an emergency. She
jumps out of bed and finds her black clothing and starts to dress
quickly.
Farseeker also wakes up and jumps out of bed. Being trained
in the military he sleeps in light clothing always ready. He
grabs his great sword and heads for the door.
Chion wakes up and gets out of bed. Dressed in light night
Katai clothing he grabs his sword scabbard and sais and head
for the door.
Ben'dar wakes and leaves his bed. He finds his pants and
quickly begins to put them on. As he does he heads toward his
spear.
Arawn pulls the sailor and both moves toward Raban to help
him.
Kell remains in bed dreaming of the big deal.
Z'leyra wakes up fast and leaves her bed. She grabs for her
clothing and begins to dress.
The Captain who had some of his private rum stash sleeps
even though the bell is almost directly above his cabin. He
snorts and rolls over.
But the First Mate hears the alarm just one cabin over and below
the top deck by only feet. He leaps out of bed and grabs for
his pants and starts to dress.
Caladan wakes and starts to dress.
Shu remains asleep.
Kiet wakes up fast. Ever since the storm he has slept light
and dressed in pants. Never knowing when the ship might sink
he grabs his dagger and some rope over his shoulder and heads
for the door.
Will wakes up and begins to dress quickly.
Strie'bog wakes and begins to dress.
The sailors in their berths are one deck below the top so
hear the bell and the cry from Arawn. They begin to dress
in pants and grab daggers and swords.
The sailor with Arawn pushes Arawn further upset that he
can't rush to help the other sailor that just screams cause
he can't see.
Merman #6 just injured by Fremea's arrows moves down the
ramp and stalks through the horses searching.
Mermen #11-#15 now can see since Arawn has moved away
moves toward the south steps to the main deck from the aft
raised platform. They all stop at the steps as the mist
seems to be right in front of them.
The three remaining merman on Raban attack him. The first
two miss but the third hits but his leather protects him.
Whitney wakes up and starts to dress.
Zhou wakes up but decides to stretch. "What's going on?"
He yawns and sits up in bed.

Next Update...Friday...
GM: Combats this large when we are dealing with 45 plus objects
or people is hard to coordinate. I could do this story
level but it would be very difficult. So I have to do it
the boring phasal method just to keep my sanity. Lots
of charts, notes and such to upkeep. Some attacks may not
have flair but there is only so many ways one can say you
swing and hit. :) Now if it was 10 or less I could do it
story level and make it flashy. But this is how the Vong
situations will likely be as well. Coordinated chaos.
GM: Well enough for tonight. I was starting the next phase
but running out of time. Got to get this out. I'll do
a few more phases next update. No one has left their
cabins yet so positions of those gone below are not known.
Hopefully I'll have that detail next update. Five are
wounded and 3 are dead. Two sailors down or dead and
Raban injured but lightly.
GM: Will continue with posted actions up to this point. So those
are in my notes. Unless you need to change actions you
can do so. Otherwise I'll continue with posted actions
in next update. Stay tuned...this one has taken me 4 hours
of prep work (with all the posts and the 25 today) and then
another 4 hours to type up. Will continue work on this
Wednesday night to get a head start.
