[Recap]
From Chion: [Re: Being mean to the GM]
alphabetically starting at L (which is ordered starting at a
random place... ie. balanced)
:)
GM: Ack. You're mean! :)
------------------------
From Fremea: [Re: Languages]
Fremea will learn how to speak:
Bird (if Z'lerya will allow her to learn it), and Zen'dali
Also, Fremea speaks Donaran (was left off the list for her)
GM: Ack. Bird for Z'leyra would be Eagle. For Arawn it is just a
Small Bird form. Its not a global bird language to talk to all
as there is just so many variants out there. Didn't post Donara
cause it was technically a private not public thing but since
you did say you were form there
it could be assumed. :)

[New Stuff]
[Apris 6th, 1634TH. 9th Day of Adventure #4.
[Location: High Elder's domain - Citadel, Dark Lands, Forest]
GM: Caladan's IBT action
[Caladan remains inside the grounds of the Citadel and Village
not going far into the forest. By day he tends to spend
the week mostly at the Lake relaxing. By the end of the
week those who know him know he has changed by his new found
muscle and thus strength growth. For those who knew he
died and was resurrected are glad to see him regain some
of his strength back. It will do him good.]
[When Chion teleports back to Marentia with Ben'dar, he sends
a note to Balrog to handle some business for his home and
ship his gold home. He also writes a long letter to his
father. Though Gib'borah can't read, Cetric has some basic
reading skills he should be able to handle it.]
[Caladan spends his time around the Citadel training and
using his Composite Bow to improve that skill Also a
few days are spent with Suca learning what looks to be
nightly stealth skills. Those who may notice he is seen
stalking and sneaking about.]
[Caladan also practices his spells during the time waiting
for the High Elder's meeting. he trains in his Fire, Sleep
and Storm magics improving them but only gains a level in
Sleep Touch. He improves them all equally. But by the
day of the meeting he'll be at full magical energy.]
[Since Caladan remains around the Citadel he has only light
human encounters and only one animal - a stray deer near
the lake. No combat random encounters ensue.]
GM: Not as exciting as the adventures of Ben'dar the Barbarian!
[From Apris 3-6 while the party continues onward to the
Citadel, Ben'dar trains with Arawn each day when time allows
using the Scimitar and Forest Survival skill.]
[Morning of Apris 7 Ben'dar heads to the Armorsmith shop in
the Citadel. Zhou helps to track down the Armorer and he
opens the shop. He inspects the magical pike that has taken
a lot of damage, at least over half of its strength, and says
he can repair it. Ben'dar leaves the magical pike with him
to work on while he goes hunting in the wilderness. It takes
only 2 days to repair the damage. But when Ben'dar gets back
the smith explains it can't be fully repaired even with the
best skills and tools. but it is twice as strong as it was
before. Ben'dar heads to get a quick free meal and get some
basic forest supplies. He finds Tef'wo groomed and ready by
the Citadel stableboy. Ben'dar checks out the map of Ki'ama's
Domain on the wall by the main gate. Then he waits for his
hired forest tracker/hunter guide. Ben'dar and the guide,
A'xor, head into the forest for some fun days of hunting.]
[For the next several days Apris 7-9th Ben'dar spends time deep
in the forest learning tracking and forest survival from the
guide. From Apris 11-14th this continues learning tracking and
forest survival skills.]
[Night of Apris 7th a day after leaving getting to the citadel,
Ben'dar and A'xor make camp. Around 2:48am, Ben'dar is on a
brief watch listening to the sounds of the forest. Tef'wo
A'xor and A'xor's horse are asleep. Suddenly from tall
branches high above a rustling is heard. In a flash of
movement Ben'dar rarely sees two Great Spiders leap down into
the camp. Ben'dar draws his spear and charges one nearby
while yelling. The other spider stalks toward A'xor.
Ben'dar lunges and stabs one of the great spiders in the side
with his spear doing minor damage. The first spider uses its
large pincers and thrashes at Ben'dar and bites down doing 3
points past his tough dragon armor. But the leg attack fails
to do anything beyond the armor. The chest wound begins to
draw blood but doesn't seem to feel poison inside the wound.
The second spider charges the guide and mandibles clamp down.
But at the last second A'xor wakes up and rolls away avoiding
any damage. Ben'dar stabs again at the spider and impales a
thick leg. He curses that he didn't have his magical pike.
It would do far more damage. A'xor gets to his feet and grabs
his own spear and stabs doing a minor wound to his spider.
Spider one lunges at Ben'dar trying to knock him down but he
is too strong. Instead the mandibles bite down but doesn't
penetrate his tough armor nor do the leg attacks. Spider 2
lunges at A'xor but fails to strike. A'xor stabs again and
does a minor wound to his spider. Meanwhile Tef'wo comes to
the aide of the guide while the other horse tied up seems too
scared to act. Tef'wo knows Ben'dar can outlast the guide.
Tef'wo comes over and tries to trample the spider and the
hooves do a massive amount of damage to the spider. Ben'dar
thrusts his spear but this time misses the tall spider. Again
the spider lunges but fails to knock down Ben'dar. But his
mandibles clamp down but doesn't penetrate the dragon armor
nor do legs strike a body part. Spider 2 bites at the guide
but fails to hit but one leg does a glancing wound and the
guide takes a minor scrape. Tef'wo continues to trample the
fast spider this time doing minor wounds to a couple legs.
A'xor fails to hit the spider with his spear. Ben'dar growls
and grits his teeth as he fails to hit the spider again as it
seems to agile. But in the same manner the spider fails both
attacks on Ben'dar. The second spider hops away from Tef'wo
and lunges toward the guide. The guide is knocked down by the
blow and mandibles flap but A'xor brings up his spear to block
the mouth from a certain hit. Tef'wo can't attack this phase
since he could hurt the guide. Ben'dar tires of the spear and
fails to hit attack this phase but is slowly moving the spider
toward the campfire. Spider one fails to hit Ben'dar and
spider two tries to inject poison with his mouth on the guide
but is blocked again by A'xor. Ben'dar finally stabs the
spider for a moderate wound but the spider still stands.
Spider 1's mouth fails to hit Ben'dar but a leg does contact
an arm but the armor protects from that damage. In the chaos
Spider 2 fails to bite the guide yet again. A'xor this time
not needing to block the mouth tries to kick the spider off
but finds it too heavy. Ben'dar howls again as his spear fails
to hit the spider. Spider 1 uses the chance to leap at Ben'dar
and catches him off guard. Both go tumbling to the ground.
The Spider flaps his mouth claws at Ben'dar and lowers and
bites Ben'dar in the left shoulder. The claw pierces armor
and does minor damage but Ben'dar can feel poison starting
to sweep through his shoulder. The poison is fast and
Ben'dar becomes paralyzed. Ben'dar yells in his mind angry
at the event and how he could die here without Z'leyra to
help him. Spider 2 fails to bite the guide. Tef'wo seeing
Ben'dar go down and the other down has no choice but to
react. The trample is done on spider 2 and does minor
damage. Spider 1 seeing Ben'dar unmoving hops off and stalks
toward A'xor and Tef'wo. Spider 2 fails to bite down on the
guide again. A'xor fails to struggle from under the beast and
escape. But Tef'wo this time with his hooves kills the spider
and it lands on top of the guide. Spider 1 stops and eyes the
guide and Tef'wo deciding what to do. It quickly decides
the guide is a good meal and stalks toward him for a free
bite. But at the last second A'xor moves his head left and
the mouth mandibles hit dirt. But this time A'xor gets his
spear free and stabs toward a leg but the tough hide isn't
penetrated. Tef'wo charges around the fallen spider and
attacks the first spider and does a big rib shattering wound.
Spider 1 suddenly leaps up into the air and onto Tef'wo's
back. The nimble legs try to balance itself and the mouth
claws lower but fails to hit in the clumsy attack. Tef'wo
turns and bucks throwing the spider off and toward the
campfire. The spider lands on the edge of the fire and legs
start to burn with hair. It tries to roll onto its legs but
continues to burn. A'xor finally emerges from under the dead
spider and finishes the burning spider off with a spear stab.
A'xor looks around and sees no other threats. He checks
Ben'dar and finds light non-lethal wounds. A quick 30 second
battle is over and he comments "Stay right there" and winks.
He rushes to his horse and gets a few items out of his saddle
bags. "A guide is always prepared. Have a few items here for
poison cures. Give me a few minutes. Just enjoy the stars."
Minutes later a mush of something is made from forest herbs
and other items Ben'dar isn't sure what. Mixed with water
the foul tasting material is given to Ben'dar. It takes
about five minutes but finally Ben'dar can move again.
Embarrassed he sighs and knows he could've done far better
with his magical pike. But maybe he is too dependent on that
thing. He tends to the light wounds and bandages them. He
wonders if he should tell the party of this attack or keep
it to himself. That night A'xor sighs as well for the loss
of poison blood could be worth some gold coins. But neither
men have a crystal vial.]
[Yesterday hunting failed and so does today. Even with the
guide's help game is hard to find and kill. But on the
morning of Apris 8th both go hunting and tracking. Around
1:39pm a group of 3 humans are sighted and met with. One is a
Law wizard on a field trip with an apprentice and his brother.
The wizard offers a lesson of healing and allows the apprentice
to heal Ben'dar and A'xor's wounds. The young apprentice seems
capable and all but a minor bruise and cut is left on Ben'dar.
A'xor's wounds go away. The trio continue on their lessons.]
[Apris 9th the hunting continues. Around 9:52am another human
encounter takes place. Both barbarian and guide come across a
clearing where 4 are sitting around performing some magical
ceremony. Ben'dar can't tell what they are doing but it seems
to be centered around glowing rocks. The magic doesn't seem
evil but A'xor suggests they avoid the group and break their
concentration. Hunting today in the afternoon goes well and 5
FPs are found. That night the small rabbit is eaten.]
[Apris 10 the two men return to the Citadel. Ben'dar and Chion
teleport first to Caladan's village and then back to Sivas.
There both separate and Ben'dar heads quickly to his ranch with
his funds and to get a report. The rest of the day is spent on
the ranch seeing the new horses and getting a report.] [The
next day having come back the evening before to the Citadel is
spent back in the forest with A'xor. The next four days are
spent tracking, survival learning and hunting. Apris 11, 12
and 14th yield small game and food. But no hunting success is
done on the 13th. For these four days there is no other
humans encountered deep in the forest.]
[On Apris 12th while hunting sounds are heard before they are
seen. By now Ben'dar is more confident with his newly repaired
magical pike in hand. Both men dismount and creep along the
forest floor. Soon both men notice a group of 4 Great Apes
tearing up a large deer buck. All four are boisterous and
within a few seconds it is clear which one is the leader of
this group. A'xor says "Pithachi are Kotothi's creatures.
Nasty things. Can be quite powerful." Ben'dar doesn't know
the term he uses but knows apes when he sees them. Four
against 2 might be fairly decent but if they can even the
odds it might be better. Being a few miles north east of the
Citadel farmlands these must've come from the nearby Chaos
domain. Guess even the High Elder can't prevent all nasty
monsters from entering his land. A'xor forms a quick plan and
a lesson for Ben'dar. All four males are over 7 feet tall and
three have weapons. Two stone spears and one stone club. As
the apes tear apart and begin to eat the deer the two men head
east. A'xor explains the need for a trap here. The guide
knows the area since he hunts here with other nobles at times.
Soon a empty hollow where boars live is found. The deep ravine
is suitable for a quick trap. The empty hallow is covered with
bush and plant growth after laying down a blanket. A quick
primitive trap. A'xor explains he'll be the bait and draw
most here. Once they fall in it won't take them long to
escape. But they won't leave their food so only some will
come this way. Once divided it'll be better odds. Ben'dar
mounts on Tef'wo and prepares his bow from a hidden area. He
should be able to get one or two shots off. A'xor sneaks
close to the apes and stands up. He knows the wind will
shift his scent to them and soon enough it does. When the
apes notice him one yelps and growls. The others raise their
weapons. A'xor runs east and soon one gives chase. As the
ape chases A'xor through the forest Ben'dar does get off two
good shots and hits the tall ape. The first does massive
damage to his right arm and the second does massive damage
to his lower left abdomen. But the ape only staggers briefly.
Adrenaline pumping it raises his club in anger and charges.
A'xor having good head start rounds the trap and stops waiting
for the beast to follow. It does and when it hits the blanket
goes down. Tef'wo comes closer and Ben'dar raises his third
arrow and fires it on the trapped ape below and this one
finishes off the ape in the same lower left abdomen area.
Ben'dar smiles but looks to notice the others haven't joined
them. A'xor shrugs and leaps down to check on the ape. He
takes out his own short sword and sheathes it when the ape is
found dead. He reaches behind and grabs his axe and with one
quick blow chops off the head of the ape. Minutes later back
near the other 3 apes he tosses the head toward them. This
causes all three to stop eating and turn in anger. Two beat
on their chests and howl. A'xor runs again and this time two
give chase. But one is slightly faster. Ben'dar again from
cover fires on this faster ape. This time though the arrows
do hit in the right arm and left shoulder but are minor. The
faster ape leaps straight for A'xor and tries to throw his
spear at him. The spear hits A'xor in the left chest just a
few inches below the heart doing a minor wound but a serious
one. He is knocked forward and rolls onto the ground.
Ben'dar places his bow back on his back and kicks Tef'wo into
motion, who is already in motion as if he picks up on the
command before it is sent. Tef'wo charges with Ben'dar and
pike at the ready. A'xor rolls over in pain and swipes his
sword at the ape who just wounded him and does a slicing blow
on the chest of minor damage. Ben'dar howls to distract the
apes since they'll be able to act before he can get to the
guide. The other one not wounded is distracted by the howl
and looks up but the angry one near A'xor leaps on him. One
of the large claws misses but the left hand swipes the head of
A'xor and does a deep gnash up the side of his face up the
cheek and a deep cut in the scalp. A'xor falls asleep
unconscious. Ben'dar keeps his cool, now days earlier he was
the one in desperate need and now he can return his almost
life debt to the guide, though it mostly belongs to Tef'wo.
Coming close Ben'dar swipes the pike at the ape and hits him
in the lower left chest doing massive damage. That damage,
the other damage by arrows and Tef'wo's boosted damage causes
the ape to be thrown off A'xor and hits a tree. The ape
falls down to the ground dead, leaving only one more
unwounded. Ben'dar glances at A'xor but knows he can't help
him while the one still lives. The other ape leaps up and
tries to slash with his own claws at Ben'dar and makes contact
but his armor protects him. Ben'dar simply reacts and swings
around toward the crazed ape, doing a minor wound to it in
the shoulder. The ape claws again at the mounted barbarian
but misses. Ben'dar also fails to hit the agile but tall
ape. The ape makes contact on Ben'dar's side but doesn't
penetrate armor. Ben'dar gets in a good blow mid chest and
does massive damage to the ape but he remains standing. The
ape fails to make claw contact. Ben'dar fails to hit the ape.
The ape staggers from loss of blood but fails to hit. But
Ben'dar doesn't and hits the ape for a massive hit in the
left ribs doing the final blow and kills the ape. Ben'dar
dismounts and rushes to A'xor. Applying pressure he stops
the bleeding but doesn't know healing all that well aside
from horses. Ben'dar sighs not paying attention much to
Z'leyra's techniques. Soon the face and scalp wounds are
bandaged up tight. Ben'dar fears he'll have to take him to a
nearby hunter's home for more treatment but the Citadel is
closer and they can heal him better. Ben'dar checks the back
wound and finds a rib broken but no lung is damaged. Three
minutes later, much longer than it would've taken Z'leyra,
A'xor seems stable for now. But Ben'dar wonders about the
last ape, the obvious leader. Where is he. Commanding
Tef'wo to guard A'xor he scouts the area. He soon finds the
buck is missing and a blood trail leads west. It is easy to
track and soon the ape is seen in the distance. Angry at
the cowardly ape and A'xor's pain Ben'dar howls and charges.
Ben'dar hits the leader ape in the lower right abdomen and
does massive damage but not a death blow. Ben'dar is hit by
the ape's claws but doesn't get past his armor. Ben'dar fails
to hit and the ape hits again with his claws but no
penetration. Ben'dar hits the ape's left shoulder and slices
down cutting deep almost taking the shoulder in half and doing
massive damage killing the ape at last. Ben'dar pulls the
pike away and growls when he notices it seems to take a bit of
more damage. He growls and kicks the dead ape for damaging
his newly repaired pike. Rushing back to the A'xor he helps
him to A'xor's horse but with head laying on the horses
shoulder not sideways since that would lose more blood.
Leading the other horse Ben'dar heads slowly to the Citadel.
An hour later Ben'dar arrives near the farms of the village.
There he gets help with a wagon and soon a healer arrives.
Magic is cast and full healer treatment is done. Soon the
wounds fade away but a massive face scar is there. A'xor
asks for a regeneration spell and the healer finds another
person to help with that. Soon the scar fades and leaves only
a minor wrinkle but A'xor can live with that. A'xor thanks
Ben'dar for saving him and it was fun being the bait. A'xor
urges Ben'dar to head back out into the forest for the next
couple of days. A'xor explains he has many wounds from boars
and bears so that was not so bad compared to those. Ben'dar
slightly sad by the man's wounds soon realizes the man is like
Farseeker a bit dangerous but wild at heart. The two lead
men to the Apes and buck, this time from a fast ride. The
hunters head back as A'xor and Ben'dar continue on. Two days
later Ben'dar learns a wizard was able to track to their lair
and with hunters in force get the lair destroyed but it was
across the border into the Chaos domain.]
[The next two days are spent hunting, tracking and survival
training. No more deadly encounters take place. Ben'dar
eventually returns late on the 14th for the meeting in the
morning.]
GM: I'm sure Arawn is willing to help train with scimitar.
Actions? Comments?
Next Update...Friday...
GM: I have started to process IBT actions. I'm about 99% done
with Ben'dar's. Results are posted above. Just have to
do final updates to the character sheet and send it to him.
It took me about 2 days to do his. That's with a couple
emails going back and forth. For those with longer email
turn-around it might take longer.
GM: For Adventure #5 I'm considering some changes.
Text changes - Instead of using [..] for stage like directions
and such I'll likely go back to Book normal style ie no [].
I used the [] since it was easier to read going back a decade
but will likely change it for future. Example: Ben'dar chops
off the head of the dragon and yells "Gotcha." So no [ just
normal text-book-style. Unless of course some of you think
the [ ] format is good enough. Its just for ease of viewing.
Website changes: Someone thought that maybe instead of the
website going down from #1 update down to the last and links
at the bottom I could change it from ascending to descending
order. So the last update is on top and #1 at the bottom.
This would make it ease of viewing for slow browsers. But
the links would still be at bottom so does this help any?
Would it be easier for reading in ascending or descending
order? I'll take comments if you wish to put in a vote or
say here.
GM: Website is updated finally!
* Characters of the Campaign file is now the bigger updated
version. This link can be found at the very top or the very
bottom of the page. Take a look. Some of you new players
are in it. Every major or not-so-major person is in this
file. It might contain spoilers and even some information
you don't know about a person. It has also some backstory
info for folks who may need reminding. This is a reference
file so in case you forget "who was that dude" type of
thing. Keep in mind its a 120k file a big file. I've not
had time to spell check it. If you see errors or have
comments on your entry or others let me know. I've only
posted "public" info. Secrets and such aren't in this file.
Take a look when you have time if you want. If you would like
the file itself so you can view and stop then I can send it as
well. Thanks to Alex it has been proof-read.
* Adventure #3 - Sigh. I goofed. Awhile back couple months
ago I must've gone in the oldpbem directory & overwrote the
*** #3 index file (the main site TOC). So as a result I noticed
tonight its actually #4's info. Sadly I don't have a backup
of the index.htm file. So reading #3 is out for the web.
But I have all the files, updates and posts archived if you
want to see them or past adventures. This isn't a big deal
as #3 would just be deleted off the web soon once #4 is
officially ended.
GM: IBT actions - You know I expect these IBT actions as if you
folks know what to do. I realized that the new players might
not know. Opps. I thought I had a file typed up explaining
IBT time period. But I can't seem to find it. Which is odd.
Basically its the free form of the adventure. Allows you to
do what you want. You select skills to practice each day
either alone (1 point) or trained (2 points per day). You
can cast spells and improve those. Make things, do things
or just chill. Random encounters are technically done by
me. Because of the amount of possible encounters 12 days x
10 characters = 120. That can be a lot of encounters and
possible encounters. So what I usually do is run your
character based on what you have done in the past. If there
is a situation like Triest where it could be fatal I stop
and email you on possible solutions. But otherwise I flash
run the combat. This is why I wanted to know who might be
in the Citadel and who might be in the area for possible
random encounters. At any rate it seems like folks, new
people, have a good grasp of it. So guess you figured it
out before I explained it! Well it seems I did type up
a file on this IBT stuff. Back October 2007. Thanks to
Wout's Archive page I found it again. It is now on the
current website at the bottom if you need tips or pointers.
GM: Intros - If you guys want to type up a introduction for your
player you can do so and I can put it in a collection of
intros for the website. This way any new players can get
to know you without you having to retype it up over and
over again. I recently found Z'leyra's intro from 2001
but if you want to do this and list things publicly know and
maybe some background, skills, spells, neat gear items or the
like you can do so. I'll then put it up as a file/link on the
website.
GM: Timeline - [Reminder to me and you]
Apris 3-6 - Travel to Citadel
Apris 7-14- IBT time
Apris 15 - High Elder's Meeting
Total IBT Days: 12
GM: IBT Actions - IBT events will be queued.
