[Recap]
From Raban: [Re: Actions]
<If I see a good place for Role Play, I try to fit some in. The
combats rarely have a good spot to do so. This scene was one he
could try to do some good without serious risks.
<Raban also has a fair level in Tailor, he tends to need it, but
any help is useful especially if they have supplies he doesn't
have
Raban sighs, he really did not plan to kill the idiot of a bandit.
But it is so easy to smash bones with his strength and the
difference between a knockout and death can be a tiny thing.
Still it is quite likely this bandit has earned his death many
times over. With a smile he turns back to the ladies he rescued,
at least some good came of his actions, they seem quite happy
about it...
<It was fun to see the others try to blend actions in, even try
to steer things. Likely Raban will get a talking too at some
point about his rash actions.
GM: Ack. Well this is a role playing game so plenty is welcome!
Ryan aka Farseeker had fun too as he knows how these things
go and tend to end up.
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Fremea, having just stared out the window watching it all go
down, seemed very bored. When the leader falls to the ground
and she sees the others being let go, she pops back into the
wagon to keep out of the nasty sun. Looking over at Unali, "Are
there many people like this in your country? Is it not bad enough
to kill magic people and creatures just because they are feared?
They have to destroy their own kind too? It is bad enough what
my own kind does at times." Not really needing an answer to her
questions (though if she gets one, she will listen), Fremea turns
to her own thoughts again, a sad, or possibly angry, look on her
face.
GM: Ack.
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
To cast Knowledge Z'leyra first casts (all spells Balance
orientation) Divination EL0 (to see if she will afterwards say
"Knowledge okay", if not she changes things and restarts);
Purification ELmax; Detection (purification) EL0 thru staff;
Knowledge (to learn Mana Powers or if already learned to
improve Mana Shield) and when successful she will say
"Knowledge okay"
If others are casting spells regularly then Z'leyra will practice
spells (mostly Bal Speed at EL0 equal to mana regen) herself. If
they aren't she will restrain from casting spells just for
practice.
GM: Ack. No days listed? So can do the last day of IBt!

[New Stuff]
[Julis 27th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
The day after the Vong battle at the carnival grounds the
camp is broken up. Before camp is cleaned up Will takes some
time alone and casts four quick teleport spells. One fails
to go off but three work and he quickly feels a bit oddly
stronger in the spell. He glances to Chion and knows that
there is no longer a monopoly in the teleport elite users.
Z'leyra also finds some private time and casts a few spells
to help support her main goal. She then finally casts knowledge
to gain some information on mana shield.

[Julis 28th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
[Time: 2:50pm]
As the Bandits ride off fast they glance back to ensure there
is no pursuit. Some like Arawn, Chion and Caladan studied their
faces to ensure there is no sign of possible revenge later. But
it appears these criminals had no desire for it. In fact maybe
losing their leader allows them to gain a new one to take his
position and new plans and wealth. With millions in the Empire
Bandits, Highwaymen, Slavers and Thieves are commonplace in the
land. The military does have a strong presence but for every
group they take out 3 take their place. The nobles understand
the institution of slavery as they need it as much as a caste
system. Slavery allows the citizens to be controlled and curtailed
in their anger. So for the most part, especially in Lower Katai,
slavery is ignored as a public threat.
Raban sighs, he really did not plan to kill the idiot of a
bandit. But it is so easy to smash bones with his strength and
the difference between a knockout and death can be a tiny thing.
Still it is quite likely this bandit has earned his death many
times over. With a smile he turns back to the ladies he rescued,
at least some good came of his actions, they seem quite happy
about it.
Fremea, having just stared out the window watching it all go
down, seemed very bored. When the leader falls to the ground and
she sees the others being let go, she pops back into the wagon to
keep out of the nasty sun. Looking over at Unali, "Are there many
people like this in your country? Is it not bad enough to kill
magic people and creatures just because they are feared? They have
to destroy their own kind too? It is bad enough what my own kind
does at times." Not really needing an answer to her questions,
Fremea turns to her own thoughts again, a sad, or possibly angry,
look on her face.
The party watches the Bandits ride off for some ten minutes
before moving out. During this time the women are checked over
by Z'leyra, Arawn and Will. Will mainly observes as he learns
First Aid from Z'leyra. The women have bruises, sores and
some minor blood stains but overall in good shape. Only minor
treatment is needed. Water and some rations are given to them
to regain some energy from the heat.
The women are greatly appreciative of the party, especially
Raban, for helping to rescue them. The women who mouthed off
who seems the most strong willed of the bunch explains their
ordeal. Apparently two days ago a large caravan from the
Crossroads town to Shantou was attacked in their night camp.
The guards were easily killed and the women taken. There were
three other women but 2 died fighting back and one was too
old so was killed outright. The men were bashed in the head
or killed outright. The three children hid in the caravan
wagons and believed to have survived. She explains the other
women were travelers but not friends or relatives. Her brother
was travelling with her and was killed. The other two women
explain they live in a village a bit north of here. They were
on a trip to visit relatives in the east when the caravan was
attacked. The other two women request to be let go now and
they can walk to the village. Raban, Arawn and a few others
see this as dangerous for now in case the Bandits retrace
back. So Zhou convinces them to travel to the next village
along the road a few hours away. There they can gain some
escort or horses.
When this was decided the strong willed female, Shem Li,
decides to go to that village as well. Not wanting to show
the baroness the women are allowed to ride on horses. Two
use the Bandit leader's own horse and Shem rides with
Caladan. Raban would've loved to have her with him but
the horse is burdened as it is.
The Bandit leader is left on the road for the patrols to
pickup and a possible warning. Zhou figures he isn't worth
the effort of a burial. The body an his horse are ransacked.
He has a half dozen silver, couple gold and change on him
and the horse. he has a sword, couple daggers and his full
horse gear among some minor personal items. Zhou suggests to
the party the women could get the money or a few to get some
decent escorts and maybe a horse. But if someone argues
he can give them some coin from his share. Farseeker also
offers to give some coin for their future benefit.
***********
[Time: 4:17pm]
The wagon team makes good time thanks to Kiet's skilled
hands. The village is soon found just off the road about
a mile. Kiet parks the wagon along the road and any who need
quick water or food supplies hurry in to get them. This
like so many seen previously is a typical town of maybe 300
people. It is a local farming central hub but a good road
station for travelers. The women take the Band leader's
horse and enter the village to find some room and rest from
their ordeal. They again hug and thank the party for their
help. Shem has to yank Raban's collar down to give him a kiss
on the cheek for his part.
As the sun still has a few hours to settle the party moves
on as water skins are refilled from the town.
Kell spent some brief time in town selling the weapons the
Bandits threw down. Since the party is rushed it is a quick
deal and the party earns about 46 silver from the swords, bows
and daggers. This brings the party treasury up to about 14
gold and change.
***********
[Time: 7:23pm]
Dinner at camp is finished and the day's activity is talked
about. The stupid actions of the Bandits have served to show
how survival of the fittest tends to be survival of the smartest
in this world.
A bit tired from the light bandit action stress and the day's
heat causes Arawn to gather those who need healing from some
energy loss. This includes at this point Kell and Will who
both lost some from the Vong battle. Arawn gathers both in
a circle and casts a Healing Mist spell to heal energy levels.
Within about 1 minute and a half Kell feels completely fully
healed and his energy is back to normal. But the spell ends
as it finishes the first person up first. Will and Arawn
regained some energy back but not as much as desired.
***********
[Time: 8:48pm]
For two days, maybe even more since she was taken, the
Baroness has been unconscious. Z'leyra, Arawn and Fremea has
done all they can think of at this point. She is given
water often and forced fed some food.
Tonight at camp Z'leyra is sitting by her relaxing and notices
her eyes flutter. She begins to stir and Z'leyra helps to
wake her by touching her face and arms. Moments later she
begins to wake.
"What...what happened?" The noble asks.
She moves her arms and checks her neck and chest. Her
face becomes pale and sad. She then glances around the
campfire at the various people.
Zhou approaches and sits down by her. "You were taken by...
creatures. They did a few ..things to you. We found and
helped you get away from them. They will never hurt you again.
Can you tell us what you recall?"
She sits up After some long sips of water she begins to
tell her tale. She was riding with some guards outside of
Shantou to a local friends place to see on a purchase of
land in the city for her house. She was attacked by the
creatures and the guards killed she thinks. She can't recall
much after that.
she then woke up in a bed naked and the creatures were
talking strangely and doing things. She was placed in this
device and the snake head creature asked questions. They
were asking about a mine she owned in the far north. It
was a silver mine and not a big profit maker. But she
was actually in Shantou then heading to Pamau province to
see about buying a gold mine west of Pamau.
They asked about other people she may have known who owned
or knew of other mines. The snake head creature seemed more
interested in how deep or how big the mine was rather than how
much profit or what ore it had in it. She explains the device
made her struggles worse and painful. Eventually she lost
the will to fight and had to tell them all she knew which wasn't
much.
She explains the thing in her neck was planted to control
her in some way. The snake head leader said it would do what
they wanted but never got to that point it seemed. The other
rock stuff in her chest she has no idea other than some stupid
remarks of the gods think pain is a step to everlasting pleasure.
When they mutilated her she was immediately knocked out but
came to in great pain. The creatures seemed to take the
pain in as a drug watching her suffer.
She doesn't know why she was targeted but she got the
impression it was a rushed thing or a spur of the moment
thing.
Zhou explains they are heading to Pamau and will soon be
there. As others make comments or ask questions she tries
to answer them but soon becomes visibly tired.
Arawn and Z'leyra ask if she knows how to get rid of the
coral structures. But she shakes her head. "The snake
lady said only they knew how to remove it and she was theirs
from then on."
"I think I need to rest now." She says and then lies
onto her blanket after entering the loaned tent.

[Julis 29th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
[ Around 60 odd miles south of Shantou city]
The sun rises on another day of travel. the party gathers
up after breakfast and breaks camp. The wagon rejoins the busy
day traffic on the road. Today the skies are clear unlike the
last two days of overcast. Oddly the head was unbearable yesterday
with little sun and today there is plenty of sun but the heat
is less. In fact it ranges from the lows of 60s to only as high
as 81 or so this day due to strong winds.
The baroness has not woken up again since last night and seems
to be doing well. Aside from the strange coral she seems to be
getting stronger in strength.
[Time: 12:44pm]
After hours of uneventful travel the party takes a break and
let's the horses rest. The group settles in a for a quick lunch
and are now just finishing up on the whole. The wagon settles
on the side of the road only about 50 feet off the road. The
plains are so wide hiding in the wilderness is hard to do. So
most travel and rest along the side of the ride and that is
a common sight.
The last town visited was not more than an hour ago up the
road to the north. It wasn't even a town but a way station of
sorts like a mini trading post. There were only a dozen or
so buildings and maybe a couple dozen who lived there.
Most times the wagon team is still hitched up even during
rest periods. Only at night the team is released for rest
and stretching. It just takes time 15-20 minutes to set the
team back into place and ensure all is secure. in a rush job
Kiet and others might get the team going in a third of the time
but there could be mistakes.
The wagon and group are on the south side of the road since
this allows them to have the sun somewhat at their backs for
a tactical advantage.
Up the road to the north a trio of three peasant style
wagons have just passed and are now about 300 feet down the
road. Each wagon has one or two peasants with them. Another
100 feet north of the wagons are a group of two middle class
Katai on horses but none of these look back as they have well
passed the group.
To the south the road is quiet maybe because it is midday
and time to rest and eat. The party does notice a single
older man walking down the road carrying a backpack and looks
to be a farmer based on his clothing. he is about half a mile
to the south. Further behind him maybe a mile two robed men
that must be pilgrims are also walking to the north.
As the party eat and relax the camp is light with no camp
setup aside from a few minor bags taken off horses to get
to food and water.
The party does notice a large group down the road about 200 feet
from the party to the south. This group is about 7 men all
on horses. Wary of bandits the party eyes them for some
time. When they get close the party notice they are wearing
Katai military uniforms. At this distance it is unclear if
they wear local insignia for a particular noble or house or
a generic military unit. The horses appear to be well trained
and likely war mounts.
All but one have nice shiny looking, what parts can be seen,
swords on hip sheaths All but one are wearing chainmail even
in this heat and metal helmets. That alone indicates the group
of likely military patrolmen are local or travel from town to
town. Two in the center are holding poleaxes as they ride down
the road. All of them eye the party and appear alert and
cautious.
The group becomes tense as a possible search might be in
order from some random military group. Zhou gets up and
dusts his silk tunics down of dust and prepares to act
his role. He waves for Kiet to ensure the wagon windows
are closed from view.
Six patrolmen against the party isn't much but with the
people around any combat could draw attention. This actual
encounter is not uncommon on the road. In the past few
days there have been at least 3-4 other patrol groups
encountered as they pass the wagon. But the party soon
notice these riders are intent on some purpose.
Arawn stands along the wagon sipping water as he glances
to the riders.
The party does find one thing odd about the group. In the
center of the riding group is a rider dressed in simple tunics
and no armor or weapons. His mouth appears to be gagged or
a face wrap? his hands soon appear to be tied and bound to
the saddle itself? It doesn't take a genius to quickly figure
out the man is a captive. But this is more than a simple slave
captured by bandits. Patrols don't go out of their way
to capture slaves. It is not their task. This man must
be important or unique.
Arawn soon realizes this as well and takes the chance to expand
his senses. He is quickly rewarded when he notices a fine
blue and orange aura around the captive. It is almost similar
to that of Caladan's aura. Arawn raises an eyebrow as he realizes
this man has more than the common mana every human has. This
man is either an innate magic user or a wizard. In seconds
he realizes this man is gagged and bound to prevent use of
magic and this seems to confirm his theory.
Fremea in her dress also senses the same thing a few seconds
after Arawn and glances at the Alfar for some confirmation.
Kell senses nothing at this point but the range ff his
senses is a bit shorter than the other Sidh.

Next Update...Friday...
GM: Raban - Minor Experience added to sheet.
GM: You notice I covered three scenes. The rescue aftermath,
the baroness and the new encounter. You are free to react
to all of them. For speed sakes i covered all three in one
update as each could cover weeks if I did them one per update.
Technically they don't overlap in terms of affecting one
of the other scenes so should be easy to react to.
GM: Status update below for 29th (current day) patrol encounter.
Stats updated for Chion, Raban, Whitney, Kiet, Fremea, Arawn,
Will and Kell. To compare the change from 28th to 29th can
view the old report 2 updates past.
GM: Assuming nothing happens here then we'll move on. It
will be 1-2 more updates then deadline for IBT will be over.
If you decide to attack or do something then we'll go on
that tangent.
