[Recap]
From Fremea: [Re: Mind Shield]
Fremea will still take the Mind Shield spell. Also, if the
trinket is available for use for her mana, she will get it to
be able to cast something else.
GM: Ack.
From Kiet: [Re: Javelins]
Kiet will chuck at the Vong...what the heck.
GM: Ack.
From Will: [Re: Actions]
Sorry misposted again
Will nods curtly as he silently replies "count me in"
GM: Ack.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Arawn simply looked at the warrior for a moment before shaking
his head slightly and walking away in response to Farseeker's
gibe. Later, when Farseeker pulled him aside Arawn replied,
"Do what you will," Arawn replied. "I don't expect it to...
OOC:
As Fist of Battle lasts for some time that will be the first
spell he casts. Farseeker, since you use a sword you could
benefit. If you want it cast on you just say so.
Fremea-
Can't recall if I passed Arawn's Mana Battery to someone in
the party but if not you're welcome to it as long as Chion
thinks he has enough power to get us out of the area in case
this place shakes itself to bits.
Kell, I believe you have the Summoning Talisman. Hope it
helps.
GM: Ack.
From Arawn: [Re: Prayer]
As the party prepares Arawn pulls aside to give a....
GM: Ack.
From Kell: [Re: Actions]
[ Scott I emailed you details on summoning last week. Do
you want them again? I don't know if the talisman from Arawn
can be used or if that's too many things at once. ]
Ha'Kell listens to all of the chatter climbing the stairs ...
GM: Ack. I'll check on the talisman later if it works you'll
see the result below. I didn't get that email. So I'll
just try to back track a bit.
From Fremea on actions...

[New Stuff]
[Augado 10th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains]
[ Mountains west of Pamau]
[Time: 2:53:17pm - 2:56:00pm]
The group ascends the stairs in various random orders and
small groups. Fremea always shadowing the group from the
western edge of the stairs looking up and across to the other
series of caves and stairs.
Arawn tries to accept the comments from Farseeker while
takes the first series of steps.
As the group comes across the Vong on the stairs, Fremea just
smiles to herself and wonders if anyone will realize what really
happened. Course the only issue is that now they know she is
extremely deadly with a bow. Now, to test that special solution
on the brain of the Vong and see what happens.
Arawn simply looked at the warrior for a moment before
shaking his head slightly and walking away in response to
Farseeker's gibe. Later, when Farseeker pulled him aside
Arawn replied, "Do what you will," Arawn replied. "I don't
expect it to be, or at least I hope, it is nothing more than
another tool of the Vong, void of any sapience. If I decide
to contact it will be after the ambush and only to distract
it unless I strongly sense that a better option exists."
"As to the Battle Mind, I will initiate it just before we
get within range of the Brain's mental influence as described
by Unali. The same with the Fist of Battle."
Farseeker stands in reaction to the Alfar's mind set. His
mouth twist in an attempt to speak but words do not come out.
Maybe it isn't the time to argue it or maybe there is no point
in arguing with a god's son.
Arawn turned to look up at the towering behemoth that was
Raban. "And I'd appreciate a blessing for skill in battle,
protection or fortitude if you are willing."
Raban places a hand on the druids left shoulder making it
disappear in his meaty mass of flesh. Arawn can see the
jeweled gauntlet on his arm and wonders how much the gems
are worth. Raban smiles and then nods. "Combat offense
will help you." Then he quickly casts the blessing to
help the Alfar.
While the group climbs Raban grabs Farseeker gently and
tells him it is time for his blessing. "What kind of blessing?"
Farseeker squares his shoulders, "to my combat prowess."
Raban nods, "but you're very powerful already."
Farseeker shrugs, "never can waste potential with these
hard nosed Vong."
Raban begins to speak a few words taught so long ago when
he was a small child of 6 foot. Then he crosses his arms and
does a quick prayer and incantation over Farseeker's forehead.
He ends it with, "be powerful for the gods. Be strong for the
mother earth. Be wise as humans can be. Be respectful, yet
vengeful as the Sidh."
Farseeker grins and leans to whisper to the giant. "Their
death will be great and with honor." He glances to Arawn
climbing steps above him. "As long as we don't grovel into
surrender."
Raban then does the very same blessing for himself.
[Time: 2:56:00pm - 2:58:30pm]
Arawn a few flights below the first cave gathers Raban
near him. Telling it is time or the Fist of Battle spell.
Arawn actually thinks he doesn't need the spell. He is
a giant that could take on a full fledged mountain giant with
little worry. but time is critical in the battle. If the
Vong are to die fast the spell will speed that up.
Arawn casts the spell upon the Bard. Raban draws up his
right hand and tightens it. His bones crack and pop with
enough force to squish a human skull like a egg. The giant
fell a flood of strength flood in him. He could lift at least
30 additional pounds like paper. The Bard grins to the druid
in thanks. Arawn then reminds the giant not to harm Unali
who will be nearby as there could be problems.
Arawn then turns to Farseeker and offers him the spell.
Farseeker is a bit unsure of it. The man he probably just
offended moments ago is offering help. Farseeker grimaces
that the Alfar is just acting on his beliefs . Farseeker
looks down to his great sword in his sheath. He could
easily take on 3 or 4 Vong at a time. Why depend on this
magic stuff? But if Arawn is right on the ship the spell
can increase his sword hand. Finally after debating skill
over some god's hand he knows in the end it is for the good.
"Fine. I'll accept."
Arawn then casts a bit smaller spell version upon the
Marentian military man. Farseeker glances around but feels
little difference. Maybe he'll realize it in combat. The
man looks to Arawn and places a hand on his shoulder. "You
remind me of Jordi. He was the true Diplomat in profession
and manner. He also was a warrior. As long as you see the
wisdom to that balance you'll be fine."
Arawn can see the aura around Farseeker and knows the spell
worked. He'll seen soon enough. Before climbing a few more
steps, Arawn casts another spell upon himself. Speaking the
magical words he invokes a Armor upon himself increasing
his scale mail by 50%. Arawn can see the blue glow around
his chest and knows it worked. Fremea can also see the blaze
of blue magical aura around Arawn. In fact Kell can notice it
as well and his senses aren't as good.
Arawn then gathers the mini group around him for the Battle
Mind. Farseeker, Raban and himself will meld in the spell.
Unali comes forward, "include me in the Battle Mind as well
please."
Arawn nods this will add the core group as one mind at least
in the subconscious tactics given by the gods. he reminds the
group that they should remain 50-60 feet around him for the spell
to remain in place. Arawn then casts the spell upon the
other three and upon himself. Almost immediately the small
group feels a tingle in the back of their mind. Unali begins
to panic and wonder if the Brain is touching her again. But
then she notices Farseeker wrinkle his nose in his own reaction.
She realizes it is the spell.
Z'leyra gathers Fremea and Unali for the Mind Shield spells.
She knows her own helmet will be able to cast the spell upon
her own mind. Z'leyra notices Will sulk by and wonders what he
is needing.
Will nods curtly as he silently replies, "count me in."
Z'leyra gathers the group and starts the process. She
recalls that Will was contacted once before at the carnival
grounds or elsewhere. So she only casts a quick mind sending
spell to contact the minds of Unali and Fremea. Then she
casts the high level spells upon the other three giving
them maximum protection. She quietly hopes it will be worth
it. The brain may be so powerful even the highest protection
will be nothing. After all the Brain can touch other smaller
brains across a continent then maybe it will be easy to
sift minds.
After casting the sending spells Z'leyra then casts the
Mind Shield on Unali, Fremea and Will. It takes a few moments
but knows it will last days. Then she taps and invokes her
Dragon Helm to cast her on enchanted Mind Shield upon herself.
As the party prepares Arawn pulls aside to give a prayer of
appreciation, thanking the Sidh gods for their guidance during
the mission and asking for their blessing on the party, hoping
for peace but prepared for slaughter, asking the gods to aid
them in ending the Vong threat to this world and all others.
He speaks of the old place, the Mount of Bones. and the Serpents
possible presence, asking for protection and wisdom should that
one turn his attention to the event taking place in Rising
Mount.
Ha'Kell listens to all of the chatter climbing the stairs
with half his brain, the other half is thinking what can go
wrong. Attacking from stairs is a very bad tactical location,
merely take out the stairs. Sitting ducks from a rear attack.
Pour some boiling oil down them. Light them on fire. So many
ways to make it difficult on the attacker. The half-elf hopes
the Vong felt secure enough they didn't plan for a defense here.
Preparing himself, he mutters a bit in his second favorite
language. "rumble grind crush slide" and checks his gear.
Helmet, shield, spear and wand.
Arawn moments before offered his summoning talisman to the
half-elf but he politely refuses. Quietly he knows the way
to train is not to use trinkets even his shiny wooden triangle
talisman but use his own skills and powers.
Kell moments earlier cast his elemental pact to make contact
with the earth again. Now he prepares to summon the rock
living earth.
Unali waves to the front group to prepare. Only a few steps
to climb and be in the same level as the cave. She hopes her
Shield will help block her mind. But the Brain may already know
of them She isn't sure if waiting for the elementals is best or
just do a quick ambush. Then Farseeker urges her through
her mental connection via the Battle Mind that tactics are better
to take out the guards regardless. Raban also seems to concur
through the battle mind. Though there is no direct communication
it is a implied emotional or subconscious connection. Unali nods
and raises her fingers for a count down. She checks with Kell
to ensure the spell was cast to summon the elementals. He nods
and reminds himself it could be 3-10 seconds before they arrive.
Unali decides to hold off at least a few more seconds so to give
the elementals time to arrive.
Three. Two. One. Unali waves the group forward. The bulk
of the party - especially Raban - is a bit hard to miss storming
up a flight of steps and then stomping - running, toward the
cave.
[Time: 2:58:30pm]
Fremea hovers just outside the western edge of he stairs at
the same level as the Brain Cave. She peers to the cave and
sees little from this angle. But she glances up and to the
others just in case others come this way.
Raban runs up the steps, almost gliding with his innate ability
to fly and his dance skills. His bulk unlike so many like Chion
or Farseeker doesn't seem to even hinder his movements. He grips
his now iron hand due to the Fist of Battle and flexes it. Running
up the last set of steps he rounds the corner and runs toward the
cave, crossing over the small "stone" connection between the
stairs and the cave entrance. He can see the shadow of the Vong
guard at the entrance, on his left is target. Reaching the
guard he simple turns side and punches the Vong guard in his
right side. The punch is devastating due to the magical boost
of blessing, fist of battle and battle mind. His right ribs are
pulverized and the armor doesn't even blink to protect. The
iron fist does 49 points of damage which only 31 is needed to
kill the Vong. The Vong is killed instantly before even the
Brain could warn him. The Vong is thrown to the left down the
western edge of the cave tumbling away from the entrance. Raban
smiles and gives a slight curse under his breath he learned from
Chion. He wasn't sure it would help but to kill a Vong in one
blow is nice.
Unali is right behind the giant, amazed at his speed and
agility. One moment she sees the Vong on her side vision
and the next she sees it flying away from her. She places
her attention to brain briefly and then to the right guard.
She stabs forward aiming for his heart area and middle left
ribs. The magical dagger does 8 points but lucky for him,
or maybe they have different heart locations, it doesn't hit
his heart. The normal dagger does another 6 points. Unali
tests the recesses of her mind to see if there is a connection
to the Brain. But there is nothing but the tingle of the
other 3. She can sense them moving toward the entrance and
Raban's glee at the damage and shame for the damage he did
as a Bard. But there seems to be no Brain interaction so far.
Farseeker right behind Unali rushes past the Katai dagger
maiden and places his back to the Brain. But he has to face
the Vong warrior to attack him since Unali is in the way.
With his boost in blessing and fist of battle his sword
skill is doubled in strength. He does a quick impale stab
with his great sword in the chest of the Warrior and kills
him before he realizes he is being attacked.
Chion and then Ben'dar are the next to run up the stairs.
Both end up at the entrance to the cave and select the
other Vong a bit away as their targets.
Arawn then rushes behind knowing he has to help Raban.
But as he makes it to the entrance he sees Raban already
killed his guard. Arawn takes that second to look around.
It seems the people are where Unali said minutes ago. They
must not have moved at all. Could that be good or bad?
The Alfar sees the Brain and realizes it is definitely a
BIG brain. Then he notices the two humans who have to be
prisoners. Both back to him in the distance. If he could
rescue them first. But his mind aches as the Battle Mind
demands that the tactics are to kill the Vong guards first
not save the humans. He isn't sure if that is from Farseeker
and Unali's mind or the gods themselves. But so far the
humans seem safe and if the Vong do get to them. Arawn
raises his sword and selects a Vong target in the distance.
Kell climbs the final steps and rushes to the entrance as
well. He hopes the Living Earth did their best so far.
But when he gets to the cave he finds them missing. Either
they haven't come yet or his request for a summons has been
denied. His teacher did say if you summon things 10 times
a day the gods might get annoyed and ban you for that. But
here is hoping that the gods see this a good request.
Captain Lin runs up the stairs and ends up along the others
like Kell and behind Ben'dar at the entrance. His eyes seem
to stare at the Brain. He could hear stories but to see it in
person is just gross and weird. THAT deserves to die for the
Empire!
The four remaining guards turn in unison as if on cue and
run toward the intruders. The Brain did warn them but the
Shaper thought a reaction rather than a ambush would be better.
The Shaper clearly underestimated the party's skills. All
four guards attack with amphistaves at their targets - Arawn,
Ben'dar, Farseeker and Unali who are in the front area.
The Warrior on Arawn's stabbed but Arawn's battle mind warned
him this would be a simple cause of their ambush. It allows him
to dodge the amphistaff just in time. The one on Ben'dar stabs
Ben'dar in the lower right abdomen doing 4 points of damage past
his Dragon armor. The one warrior on Farseeker stabs toward his
clear back. But the Battle Mind spell knew it would be a
slight chance of that as well as the tingle in the back of
his mind when Unali nods her head when the strike is made.
Farseeker steps to the left and the amphistaff strikes thin
air where he was once standing. The one on Unali also fails
to make contact thanks to her clairvoyant magical dagger and
battle mind.
Z'leyra and then Caladan rush up the stairs and toward the
cave entrance. Z'leyra takes to the left and Caladan to
the right in the now cramped entrance. Caladan knows this
should be a good distance for his spell as long as no one is
in his way.
Kiet begins his final climb and Will joins behind him.
Kiet notices the large woodsman is streaked with sweat. The
transformed armor is like carrying a extra person up 30
flights of stairs. Kiet looks back and wonders if he should
help the man. But then finally with grunts and groans the
woodsman makes the final steps. Now it is just lumbering
toward the entrance.
The two Shapers in the cave notice the party. The one by
the barrels turns to face the human nearby and barks some
orders. Then turns to the other human and does the same.
She reaches for her belt and places something in her hands.
The other Shaper facing the entrance stares with disgust at
the humans She has a Vong Orb on her shoulder and she is
speaking orders to it. Clearly she is in communication with
others in the base.
The two human prisoners who are wearing ragged torn and bloody
clothing are in their mid 30s both are male and clearly showing
signs of abuse and hopelessness. They hear the Shaper and
understand her through the translator worm in their ears. The
two men walk calmly toward the Brain and turn around facing
the group with arms drawn and heads high. They await their fate
to see if the Brain will kill them.
The two other humans are clearly Brigaders in good armor and
wearing good swords. They both draw their weapons and turn
around to face the group. They may be Brigade leaders but they
know rushing into battle against that many is suicide. But
the Brigaders know the Shapers may just order that. Sometimes
it is bad to just wake up.
The Brain itself seems to wiggle its many tentacles up, down
around and in every direction. This is about all that it seems
to be doing. A few of the tentacles move back and forth toward
the humans but seem to do nothing at this point.
Actions? Comments?
Next Update....Monday...
GM: Due to extra talking in the climb upstairs 2.5 minutes
were tacked onto the timeline. So I had to rework a
few things to coordinate it again. I ran out of time
to finish update Monday. So went ahead and did the
first 2 phases of battle so not to delay. Remember
when talking is done I have to add that time to spells
and actions. While I use the timeline to organize the
events I also use it for the Vong's own timeline of
what THEY are doing. :) It took a bit of effort to get
the time ticks down and now its done.
BTW I now have Skype setup for my Diablo 3 time gaming.
I'll only do voice calls but its another way to find me
other than the various online chat methods.
Mana report is updated. I did the second map without
Hexes since some like that. Mana is updated on the spell
use and experience. But the First phase of kills are
not recorded so that experience is not recorded.
Did one phase of combat. I was going to do 2 but now with
the human shields in the way of the Brain it might be good
to make plan changes.
Some could use Javelins, Spears or Bows but you will
need to let some clear away from the entrance. Caladan
will not chance a Fireball with the humans but he may
chance a Lightning spell with his staff. So plan your
next move. I'll try 2 phases for Monday unless things
change badly.
Happy 4th for those n the USA! For those in Europe well
you don't care. For those in England - WE WON the war :) j/k
