[Recap]
From David: [Re: Joke]
Not meant to be mean...just an attempt at humor. -Dave
GM: Ack. It was good and taken as a joke.
From Kiet: [Re: picture]
Kiet is currently dressed as shown, minus the gold thread
around the upper arms.
He wears a light tunic, loose pants (insert joke here), his
fancy boots, a padded undercoat of no protection, chainmail,
then the coat you see in the illustration. It is not always
easy to tell that there is chainmail under the colorful coat.
The coat is split front and back, along with the chainmail, to
facilitate the riding of a horse. The chainmail falls to just
above the bottom hem of the coat. On his left arm, just under
the coat and armor, you might catch a glint of his silver
bracer. He also has a small necklace around his neck of
homespun material.
Kiet carries a new sword at his side...it's a curved blade
with a fairly plain grip and pommel...more utilitarian than
pretty. He also has a new wooden shield crafted by his friend
Kell. The shield has a dagger sheath on the inside for easy
access. If you look carefully, he carries daggers in his
new boots too.
Kiet has a few items he wants to get rid of. He has some
padded armor and ring mail. Also, Kiet has a spare pack
horse he no longer needs. Kiet would be willing to give
someone a good deal.
GM: Ack. So noted on items for sale. Maybe one will take up
the offer. If not will remove the horse when we sit and
figure out what is being taken to far distant lands.
From Kiet: [Re: Image]
Also, Kiet has one pair of especially nice boots given to him
by a cobbler. They are nice. A gift to anyone that speaks
first...you'll notice that Kell has a pair just like them...
also new.
GM: Ack.
From Kell: [Re: joke]
Ha! and ouch - that's mean.
Kell needs to use that to make more money, triple charge
interest... hmm...
GM: Ack.
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Fremea is still so naive about what is mostly going on around
her, including relationships and even some magics, considering
she is supposed to be naturally magical herself. She does her
own small training, not knowing that there are so many other
ways to use her gifts than her single minded process at this
time. Of course, her single minded process is also what leads
her to being underestimated and therefore extremely deadly.
As she learns about what some of the others did during their
personal time, she is amazed at what she could have been doing.
Of course, she also started her own school, for a group of kids,
that could even become a great training ground for her own gang
in a way too. She will learn more from this group, as she has
come to realize that they might be trusted.
During the party she stills uncomfortable being around so many
people at once. Hard to track possible threats, so she sits and
watches mostly. Only when Kaylle comes over to talk to her, does
she seem to liven up more.
GM: Ack.

[New Stuff]
[Sepes 24th, 1634TH]
[Location: Sivas, Marentia - Cholan's Tavern]
[Time: 5:15pm]
At the request of Ben'dar and his soon to be bride Pasha, the
party returns to Cholan's tavern. Thanks to Damon and Cholan
the feast is fit for a king. Steaks from Ba'ru, wine from
Bhamotin and fresh vegetables from the markets. Cholan normally
does not deal with large meals but decides to hire a cook to
do a 4 course meal. Soup, salad, main course and then desert.
The desert is supreme with cake and pudding topped with Donaran
cherries that were preserved for the import. Even Unali who
is a measure of fitness takes 2 slices of cake.
The party does miss those who wish to not attend or rather
can not attend. Farseeker sends word he wanted to be here
but with some recent trouble cleaning up the warlord's henchmen
is taking longer than needed. Strie'bog is a thousand miles
away in the Pavassa forest. Chion is off on the plains helping
out with some hunting with the tribes. Caladan is in Maren but
is still searching for Xian. Word is that he picked up a few
cues and is searching some distance west of Maren. Malic has
not been seen in weeks. It is possible he booked passage back
to his Empire.
Arawn now back from the dark lands has been back such a
short time he hasn't gone over the fun he had. He had hoped
to spend time with Kell and Fremea to share his knowledge
on their heritage but it will take time. Maybe this party
is the place to start the talk but it will take time. It
is now 45 days after the events in Katai. He hopes that
Lin and others fare well. Arawn had so many questions at
the end of the Katai mission and now he has even more. Too
many things to question and too many things to ponder. It may
take years to get the answers. Arawn knows that his curious
nature and strive for knowledge will lead him astray here and
there. It may turn him this way and that like a spinning top
in some children's game. Arawn watches the others dance and
play music. He is no dancer like the agile giant or one who
dances in palace balls like Unali, yet he tries to watch and
enjoy the fun. His father always said a person like him should
remain docile and not wild like the humans. He should be dignified
and refined. Even so much the way one holds a glass of wine should
show your bearing. Yet here now in the middle world either a
outcast or mishap he does not know. But here now one must blend
in. Maybe he will learn to dance like Z'leyra or sing or even
play those strange instruments. After all if he returns to the
upper world then he could entertain the drab guests in the great
hall of his parent's place.
Kell is happy to be back among friends. One can be with family
only so much. After all he left to explore and trade. He could
have done that at home but at times it was stifling. The irony
is that he paid for land near his birth home. So he will have
his land near the place he was trying to avoid for years. But
it isn't like a barge ride away from friends in Marentia. Kell
is proud to show his new ebony black shield. Kiet and Raban
seem to like the shield and the unusual color. Kell gives his
friend Kiet another shield he made. He had run out of ebony
wood for the shield but has a few pieces of wood left. Kell
notices some have new rings, armor and clothing. He uses his
merchant skill to assess and comment on the rings like the new
one Raban wears - he said given to him by a widow that would not
would not sink if fallen in a water due to her chest. Most
are dressed in new clothing or party level materials. Kell
notices that the women all have nice new silks. Kell even
comments that Z'leyra's silk shirt has to be from Bhamotin.
Of course he comments that he knows how to get them bulk
cheaper. Kell circles the room commenting on new armor and
weapons. Z'leyra has a new sword and even Will is wearing
some armor that oddly looks like Z'leyra might have owned it?
Kell bugs Cholan saying the wine is great but he has a contact
in the north market who could get him a cheaper deal. During
the lull of music and dance, Kell treats the group with a scene
of a Ba'ru play he saw weeks ago. It involves a merchant who
found his town surrounded by raiders. The merchant solved this
ordeal by trading a rare ore in the local mines for the freedom
of the townsfolk. Of course Kell excited a bit and overacts
the part as a play about a merchant is hilarious to him. Then
during and after the feast he gambles with others. Even
though Raban is distracted by a new bar waitress he wins a few
silver from the trader. But overall the half-elf breaks even.
Raban tells of his past month and a half. He went to Bhamotin
a few times but sadly never had time to visit Farseeker. But
overall he stayed in Marentia. He would be hired for this job
and that gig. Everything from cheap taverns to noble estates.
His unique large frame and talents have reaches far and wide.
Though most suspect his entertainment talents less than his
sexual ones. But as Raban watches the others eat he can't help
but to think that his bard nature is being tainted. A bard
must entertain, gather stories and make legends. They share
in high and lows of those around them. Without the bards nations
could not live with air of rebellion in the wind. Bards are
the gossip kings and at times share more information than
the spy networks of monarchs. The bard in theory should be
objective but many are not. But as Raban eats a warm pastry
filled with honey and spice he wonders if his time spent with
the women all around him is getting away from that Bardic duty.
He knows that his handsome features help but can also hinder.
Not only his frame but his looks can do more than gain attention.
He is now worried that others know his half breed true side and
hopes they do not look differently at him. Raban glances at
Kell and knows they don't care about him. But the Elves are
a noble race and Mir are just unknown. He will have to do some
serious thinking on his wild ways and calm down. But then again
it is a honor to heal those he helps. Raban glances at the cute
waitress and wonders if she in pain.
Unali has been in the lowest of lows chasing scum through
dark alleys and up to the Palace for dances. In both places
from high to low she has to be alert for danger and intrigue.
Here in this party she finds herself calm and relaxed. Though
just months earlier she was almost killed by Climan assassins
in this very place, she is more comfortable now. She gives
her well wishes to the party about Duke Aren not attending.
She does advise of some info on the Vong. The rumors and
reports from Katai seem well. He reports that no Vong or
peace brigade seem in Marentia. Unali is fascinated by
Kell's black shield. At one point she even used a shield
but with both hands holding daggers it is sidelined. Now
that the Climan threat has been cleaned up and no new reports
of hostile Climans in the province, Unali can finally get to
other projects on her list.
Will has spent his time after Katai at Z'leyra's manor.
He wanted to learn the basic first aid techniques. He
won't be able to heal broken bones but he can at least set
a bandage around them. At first Cholan did not like the
idea of his wolf being inside the tavern. At least the
bird is on the roof and mostly Kell leaves Squirt behind.
But Cholan relents as long as it does not bother other
guests and if packed should be in a corner. He spent
a lot of time getting to know Kiet and watching Z'leyra
doing her craft work in her workshop.
Z'leyra arrives a bit late at the party just before
the feast is served. Last minute manor stuff and business.
At least she is paid up for expenses for a year. She looks
at Ben'dar who is clearly tired. She listens as he explains
he has a good steady set of customers but it is always month
by month. A disease or hurt horse can mean the difference
from making the ranch's expenses or not. She does not know
Pasha very well but can tell she is happy. Pasha is used
to forest living in a small cabin and so to be in a large
ranch is a upgrade. But it is obvious Ben'dar is trying to
make life better for both of them. She can't tell if there
is a gleam of a possible future with kids or not. Z'leyra
drinks her wine and listens to everyone talk. Little do
these people know she came close to death twice. Z'leyra
tries not to glance over at Kaylle who seems to stare and
as if seeing through her. To distract herself she shows
her newly crafted sword to Ben'dar and Raban. It has
some minor damage as well as her armor but in time she can
always fix it. Even damaged both are much better than normal
gear like it.
Fremea spends most of the time before the feast with Kaylle
in shadow and whispers. Those who glance at them notice
both talk about what looks like some scrolls and pocket sized
journal of some kind. There are some with keen hearing like
Arawn and Kell that could hear but that would be rude. At
times Kaylle waves his hands as if in great gestures of
expressions. When Kell is giving his acting scene, Fremea
watches but only half heartedly. She is feeling the loss
of time and in reflection regrets. Both Arawn and even the
High Elder have offered to help with her past. Ever since
she escaped Donara slavery she wishes to learn more. Would
this group follow her to such places as Donara? Surely
they have their own agendas and plans. Z'leyra wants to
open a school. Arawn wishes to continue his studies on
everything under the sun. Raban has jobs and folks to please.
Kell is likely lining up big trade deals. Would they even
care to join her? She feels she could count on Raban but
is unsure on the others. She realizes the others are clapping
and tries to do the same. Such a odd human custom. Fremea
turns back to Kaylle and tries to figure out her next move.
All this information is daunting.
Kaylle finishes talking to Fremea in the dark corner. The
scholar-librarian shoves the scrolls and journal book toward
Fremea. He finishes off his glass of ale then turns to the
fun nearby. That darn Wolf pet thing that Will has keeps
staring and growling at him. At least the tavern is two
stories means he can fly away if he is attacked. But he
probably smells like a nice treat. Course it doesn't help
to live next to a butcher shop and maybe he just smells that.
Kaylle nods to Fremea, "that should cover it. I hope the
info I gave is enough to start something." He stands and
walks away as he stares at the growling wolf. He joins
Kell who is playing some cards with Ben'dar fascinated by
the Ba'ru rules in cards.
Kaylle sits by Kell and waves to the cute waitress who seems
to be occupied too much by Raban. "I hear you helped Cholan
order some Ba'ru wines and Damon shipped them in? I am eager
to taste the 1588 vintage..."

Next Update....Monday...
GM: Officially we have begun the adventure. But Tobie is looking
at things and figuring out the next move. So this is just
a quick filler update. You guys as I said last time are free
to share IBT adventures. If no one speaks of the IBT time
then only you as players know it not as characters. So if
say the Sith attack and only Z'leyra knows of them it would
be harder since new monsters to the party. (Though Fremea
did encounter them). So share what you want or share none.
It is up to you. If there are things to show up like gifts
or talk about other stuff then do so. Once Fremea has her
plans in place we can move on. This was basically a fluff
update as we wait for the big transition. This party is
just an excuse to gather the actual wedding is next spring
months later.
GM: I'm slowly cleaning up my pnp files. May take a long time.
But as I do I'll comment on possible rules and changes if
they apply.
* Divine Crit/Failures: This is already in the rules file
and mentioned long ago. But no matter if even has 215%
chance of success there is always a chance of failure.
Same with only have 1% but can be a critical success.
This is how the gods reflect fate of others. So toys
and skills and all that don't really matter.
* Abysmal failures: I use the core AF chart on this but
I really like Burton's alignment chart since it is more
detailed. So keep this in mind when doing magic.
* Armor modification and repair: The variant rule on
armor mods by Andrew is good for determining exact
repairs and other factors. So I'll be using a combo
of his rules as well as some from Wout and v2 rules.
* More to come...
