[Recap]
From Kiet: [Re: game]
Well, from what I can tell there are only five of us even
semi active...none of us are likely capable of such a
teleport. So something else has to be decided. NOW!
Kiet looks at the others and wonders with annoyance why...
GM: Ack. Well we have active wise Arawn, You, Z'leyra.
Fremea seems busy but I can reach out any time to him.
He is busy with work (his own business) and life. Will
is busy in the great north. Mostly job related from
what I hear though Alex can just give him a phone call
anytime. Unali is active but I get more emails from him
so it seems like not so active. Kell well not sure where
he is. If not around by next year we'll have to decide
what to do with him. I'm torn between it all. On one
hand I like the stall as I can get more free time to do
stuff. This time of year is busy for me and my vacation
time. So I may only work 3 days a week. During normal
times it takes 2 days a week to do update. For you guys
it is minutes to read. But for me it can range from 1-5
hours. Depending on combat it could be easy 3-5 hours. That's
basically a night/afternoon. So I enjoy the slow times but
I also know others get antsy and want to play. I figure
just one more month then I'll be in my boring 5 day a week
period and I'll push folks further. :)
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]

Etain shakes his head knowing the Sidh can see but not ...

OOC: Scott, if you determine that any point in the sky and
within range of Translocation qualifies for 'precise knowledge'
then please assume Arawn will just move ahead with Translocating
above Samma in a single jump.
When Kiet adds his voice to the conversation Arawn turns, ...
OOC: Not sure what the terrain is like but if there's little
chance for cover being reached before the arrival of the
pursuing group Arawn will Translocate any all willing towards
the furthest seemingly unoccuppied spot that would be out of
the way/range of those tracking us... assuming no one else
comes up with an alternative plan or Arawn can use
Translocation as mentioned above.
GM: Ack. I see your issue with the precise stuff. I suppose
one could use a memory of Etain looking up FROM samma into
the sky. That would qualify to me. Assuming he ever did
look up (I'd have to roll).
From Will: [Re: Actions]
After being elbowed by the person standing next to him ...
GM: Ack. Welcome back! Sadly this is same situation with
Arawn needing details like those safeguards. :) I
can poof teleport but being a programmer I like details
on how its done. :)

[New Stuff]
[Sepes 28th, 1634TH]
[Location: City of Salaqara, Donara]
[Time: 10:39pm - North of Salaqara - Plains]
Kiet looks at the others and wonders with annoyance why
some of the group aren't being especially helpful. Magic
users, including himself, are often temperamental...but this
is getting ridiculous.
He says, "We'll, we need to decide quickly. All I know is
that I don't intend to be here when the party starts." Kiet
gestures toward the approaching mob. "We can choose to move
on or fight or hide. I can do any of the three but would
prefer not to hurt those people. Now it's too late for horses
too. So, I recommend we move along for a while...flying if we
must. Some of us can fly and take others with them. I can
run faster and longer than that, though. Or Z'leyra can take
off that amulet and let me cast a major illusion to hide us."
Kiet looks toward Fremea, his impatience showing, and says
"What shall it be?"
Arawn ignores Kiet for a moment and replies to Etain.
"Your conscious recollection is unimportant, only that
the memory lies hidden within your mind," Arawn informed
Etain. He then turned to address Raban's thoughts on the
matter of transportation.
"That's fine if another can teleport the 200 odd miles to
Samma. As for myself, my method of translocation requires
precise knowledge of the location, unlike standard teleportation."
Etain shrugs. Looking at the lights he could go into great
detail on this but it would take too long and the lights
and possibly the mob would arrive. He considers memory is
great but if he knew a alley was free when he came and then
now it was built up with a shop that could be a bad memory
to use for teleporting. Things change but memories are
the same. So using memory is just as dangerous.
When Kiet adds his voice to the conversation Arawn turns,
nodding his head and begins to walk.
"As suggested lets get moving, or at least under cover and
away from the road. We can decide while we move."
The groups begins to move further north west toward the
river in the distant darkness.
After being elbowed by the person standing next to him Will
says "I do have some experience with teleportation and with
the proper safeguards I would be willing to try."
"Good. Let's get this done then," Arawn said, eyeing the
oncoming light-bearers [while, hopefully, moving with the
party to keep distance from them]. "I'll come along to help
speed the group's transition. Let us know what safeguards you
need and we'll see to it."
Fremea waited for the others just figure this thing out.
She can teleport herself and a couple of others for a little
ways, but to get to the city in one jump, she just doesn't
know how. Though some how she did make a large teleport that
one time ....
She keeps watch on the lights coming until the group leaves.
If they get too close she will cast sleep mist where the group
of lights are coming towards, to slow them down. She will also
use marbles spell to impede the progress (again only if they
are getting close before the group leaves).
Every so often the Wolf growls and looks to the darkness.
If the mob sent a scout he might be sensing it. But the Sidh
can't see anyone moving on horse. If he is on foot then he
could find places to kneel. The terrain is very flat with
ankle high grass or in some spots bushes. A river is a few
miles to the north west and there the terrain is a bit more
wooded. But trees do dot the landscape every so often.
Minutes pass then Etain makes a sound like a snap with
his fingers. "There is a spot I can recall now. It is
a small park built after some prince's birth. It has a few
statues and light bushes. I was told it was around for over
300 years. I doubt they would have built something over it
even now. The odds are it should be there. It is wide enough
about 500 feet in diameter. I recall it now because it had
that strange statue that was positioned wrong toward the Wild
Forest in the west not the city in the east. I suspect that
artist was in deep trouble for that."
Arawn stops and then says he can try to get the info from
him with a bit of a spell. Etain nods. Fremea orders the
group to give them space. But then realizes Raban is missing?
Arawn casts his Eye of Mystery spell upon Etain. The spell
works fast. Arawn then touches Etain and asks about the place
in question on this park.
As the group listen to the two men speak the lights seem
to stop then move a bit in a different direction. It is hard
to tell what is going on in the dark. The last Sidh free to
watch looks but Fremea can't tell if they are going away or
closer.
[Time: 10:46pm - North of Salaqara - Plains]
Four minutes pass then Arawn finishes his questions. In his
mind's eyes he gets the vision of the park including the strange
facing statue. Indeed it should be free of space and well taken
care of debris. Question is if people are there. But at this
hour near 11 the chances are slim.
Just then a cloud of dust bursts from the ground nearby.
Raban lands at that spot. "Okay. I helped to distract them.
They are looking for a Donaran group heading east now." He
smiles but no one sees it. The party wishes to know how but
the time is up.
Arawn decides to use Raban's plan and translocate the group
above this park some 30 feet in the air based on the spot in
his mind. This will add a safeguard to avoid people. He
calculates the jump of 320 miles, give or take 30 miles. Raban
is enough for 3 people. So he asks Raban to grab himself and
Fremea.
Raban takes to the air and allows Arawn to cast the spell
to send them to the west.
The night sky shifts as the trio locates to the west. The
group's eyes adjust. It is complete darkness here. But to
the east there are pinpoints of light that must be the city.
Raban gently lands on the group with help of Sidh eyes.
Fremea looks around and feels a moment of dread. Things have
come full circle in this place.
Raban stares at the lights and estimates they could be a couple
of miles away. The park must be on the extreme margins.
Arawn figures that a quick jump back to get the others is
needed. But he must use the same magical energy due to the
distance. He casts it once again reappearing at the plain
by the party.
Arawn gathers around the party as he notices the lights seem
to be moving away. He hopes that Raban and Fremea have moved
away from their last spot. Then he casts the spell once more
to send the rest of the party to the party.
[Time: 10:51pm - West of Samma, Donara]
Fremea is staring at the statue of some long dead
prince. She considers lobbing the head off with a quick
kick by Raban. Maybe just cracking it. But the party
arrives and her mind goes back to the task at hand.
Arawn places his wand back into the last place and looks
around. So this is the evil place Fremea speaks of. The
place that loathes Sidh. The place that enslaved her. The
place that openly hunts Sidh down just in the dark forest
to the west.
With Fremea and Arawn guiding the group they move toward
the city. To the west is the Wild Forest some 15 miles
away. To the west about 13 or so miles is the river that
boarders and to some protects Samma from the evil Sidh. To
the east is the city of 13,000 ignorant souls.
[Time: 11:22pm - West of Samma, Donara]
It takes time to move through the side streets and
residential streets. The roads are winding and a bit
unorganized. But at least in this area the streets
are empty. Up until they find a shop where a tailor
is locking his door for the night.
The tailor just nods as he moves quickly down the street
pass the group. This is when Fremea speaks up.
"Etain, where is the nearest tavern? We will want to get to
there. Raban, since you draw a crowd, please hide yourself for
now. If Z will remove her amulet that destroys illusions for
right now, we can hide him better."
Raban shakes his head, "no need. I'll fly from roof to
roof. Plus the city is dead now. In the morning though
we may need that other plan."
[Time: 11:28pm - West of Samma, Donara]
Finally the party arrives at the east city gate. There
are at this hour 4 guards which for a city like this is
odd. But the party suspects the fear of the Sidh. Ignorant
fools the party considers them idiots for not dealing
with Sidh directly. The culture could do so much better.
Since Fremea and others are in disguise it would not do
well to have the guards inspect them closely. Arawn, Kell,
Fremen and Etain have all signs of Sidh features even if
in disguise. Kiet is deemed the spokesman which did not
give him time to prepare. But in his illusionary disguise
he feels more confident. Kiet comes up with the idea they
are just ashore from a Ba'ru ship on trade business. Servants
and family are in tow. He points to the leader Kell but
explains he can not speak Donaran and to show this Kell speaks
Ba'ru words of annoyance at this delay.
Keeping to the shadows the group waits for the guards.
But at this hour they seem more concerned about boredom
than threats. After about 8 minutes of talking the guards
just wave them through. They don't even give warnings or
rules of the city which is a good sign.
They seem more interested in the Wolf than anything. Kiet
explains it is a hybrid dog that just looks like a wolf. But
in the darkness the guards are fooled. In the day they might
not be so stupid.
[Time: 11:43pm - Samma city, Donara]
The party moves down the dark streets. Occasionally there
are lanterns on poles or near doors of shop doors. At this
point though there may only be 3-4 people seen in any one
street. Mostly walking but once in awhile a rider will pass
without looking at the party.
After some walking the party comes up to a tavern called
the Broken Pearl depicted by a picture of a white marble,
assuming a pearl, with a crack in it. Entering the tavern
is empty except for one drunk man who is sitting at a table
staring at the wall.
Raban lands and enters as well. From the sign of the
place it is a middle class tavern probably full of day
workers. The fireplace is currently low and almost will
be out in a hour or two. The party then realizes how
cool it has been outside. The temperature here is about
15 degrees cooler than in Salaqra.
Etain moves toward the bar keep who is restocking shot
glasses below the bar. Etain asks a question. Then
asks again. The man in his late 50s perks up when Etain
taps him. "Sorry mister. I'm a bit hard of hearing and
a bit weak in the eyes."
Etain raises his voice and asks for a back room for
a short use for Fremea. Something about her wanting
to discuss. The man nods, "we have four rooms upstairs.
It is normally full cost but I'll reduce it a bit for
this late hour."
Etain nods and is shown the room. The barkeep then
moves back to his task. It is clear at this hour no food
is likely and no drinks. The bar must be closed or the
man doesn't care. The other staff is also gone it seems.
The party sits in the three tables that make up the
small meeting room. The door closed Fremea paces the
carpet back and forth.
"Ok, there are something here we need to deal with.
First, is finding this damn piece of some nasty magical item,
second, or possibly first tonight, get the thief, as he might
have other info about my parents or even who this other creature
is that has been one step ahead of us. For my own personal
reasons, I will also be visiting someone else here. I have a
'debt' to pay back."
Fremea sits in a chair obviously nervous.
She looks at the group for a moment, taking in each person's
resolve to be here for what ever reasons those may actually
be. "It seems I have been chosen to be a bigger part of
something. Something that I was never told about or really
cared about. But, it seems now that it threatens more than
just me and my family." She glares at Etain a little longer,
then she sighs and seems to almost look like the little girl
she has been pretending to be. "It seems it is time to tell a
secret that I did not want anyone to know about, including me.
It seems that it will be revealed as we progress anyway. I do
not trust anyone, even those of my own kind, so I feel that
this is a curse. And I do thank you for your choosing to come
with me, rather than obeying some strange commandment." At that
she stands up, looking around at the group, seeing confusion
and wonder on most faces, except Etain. His smug know it all
expression still there. That teacher face she has come to
hate with everything she is.
She undoes her shirt to let her left shoulder be revealed.
There sitting on her shoulder, what she told Z was a only a
birthmark, is a red X made up of five dots. She waits for the
worst to happen. For everyone to hate her. For Etain to gloat
about her destiny and that she is chosen to do terrible
things.
The room is full of tension and silence. Fremea looks away
and at the party as if wanting some reaction. But in fact
there is very little. Mostly concern and confusion. Finally
Raban speaks up, "I have a mark as well on my rear end. Some
of the women say it looks like a diamond and try to cut it out."
This brings a bit of laughter at the giant. Which was probably
his intent. Even Fremea giggles but then returns to herself
and covers her shoulder.
Etain stands and looks at Fremea. "I did...did not know.
I've seen it before. When you were young. When you were
bathing or such. But I thought it was .." He looks to
Arawn for guidance. "I don't know..." He looks back at
Fremea. "A faerry thing like humans have blotches on
their face as teens." He considers the past and few
long moments thinks back. "This is why you were considered
special? This mark? I was told only that you were a special
one that the Monarchs felt you were here to help them.
I ..." He sits back shaking his head in confusion.
Fremea looks at the Elf to see if lying. The Elf has lied
to her in the past. During her education. But it seems
the Elf is duped or a good actor. Could the Monarchs have
keep this more private than even she feared?
Making sure her mark is covered once more. "We must use
our time correctly. Tonight I want to find that thief and
see what we can get out of him. Kiet will be most useful
there." Throwing a wink his way. "Then we will get the
artifact."
Raban nods, "we got some info on where the Thief might be.
But at this hour would he still be there? Should we all go
or split up? Would you prefer you two go alone?"

Next Update....Friday...
GM: Now that was a big update for a change. After reviewing
Arawn's emails I figure I will just do the update based
on his options. Technically I cheated a bit since Etain
has not been around her for longer than 2 months. But
I know we are all tired of waiting. Oh well. We'll move
on. I also cheated a bit on the translocate spell but
no big deal. We are moving on. Less than a month
from X-mas and then a new year of boring work for months
and months. :<
GM: I dedicate this to Mr. N. K. We don't know you but
I do indirectly. One of our members here is having
some hard time with the situation and I just felt
the need to do something.
GM: What now? Fremea do you just take Kiet? You mention
the painting. Do you use it one more time is this
correct? I assume after the above meeting.
GM: Still got to update the mana report with Arawn's 4
spells and Kiet's illusion. I assume Kiet avoids
Z'leyra as best he can due to illusion at least 10 feet
if I recall.
