LEMASA:
Unless something pops up while speaking with the High Elder
Arawn will not be traveling to Lemasa (unless a party member
wishes to travel there and mentions it to him)
GM: Ack. So do you return home immediately on Chion's return
trip (See schedule below).
--------------------------------------------------------------
[New Stuff]
[Augado 11th, 1634TH]
[Location: Sivas, Marentia]
[ Chion's home]
[Time: 4:32pm - Sivas, Marentia - Chion's land]
Malic fails to learn Marentia from the language talisman.
Those who stay in town like Raban offer to give him a few
more chances by using the talisman. Assuming Malic stays
in town as well. It takes 5 more days though before he
can speak Marentian fluently by Augado 16th.
A slight frown appeared on Arawn's face when it appeared
that the amulet had failed to be properly invoked that day. It
was only a slight setback, the next day allowing for another
opportunity, and in the meanwhile the Alfar was happy to work
as a translator between Malic and the rest of the party.
Explaining to Malic than another opportunity would present
itself the next night he then said,
"Although we've just arrived some of us will be heading out
tomorrow, the rest eventually leaving the area in a few weeks
to look into one thing or another. You're welcome to stay here
for the time but if you wish to leave or pursue some agenda
please feel free to do and perhaps we may be able to assist you
in some way. We are in Marentia so not too far off from the
Cerulean Empire if I recall correctly. And I know you've been
separated from your companions while on your mission. Take some
time to think on what you wish to do and let us know if there's
anything we can do for you. Perhaps, if nothing else, my
companions may find a need for another sword-arm if you wish to
accompany us."
Malic considers this and wonders if he should return home
or send a note to his boss's family. He wasn't into too
many nice things. Rumors of bad things with other bad folks.
He wonders if it might be too hot to return home for awhile
or even to warn the folks back home.
------------------
[Time: 1:37am - 1:50am - Sivas, Marentia - Luvac's meeting]
[After Luvac's gifts are announced]
Kiet mutters an unkind word under his breath aimed at this
minion of Ki'ama's. He leans over to whisper to Kell "I thought
that the High Elder was being a bit of a cheapskate with these
earned 'gifts'."
Luvac smiles and starts handing out all of the gifts to each
person. Some are starting to think this man is from the Chaos
aligned domains of the Dark Lands. But it seems just to be
a gleeful time.
Farseeker is bold enough to ask, "you seem quite pleased.
Was this planned?"
Luvac nods, "of course The Diviner saw it and was under order
not to reveal. A bit of a bet was taken place. Who might go
first and ask for all three. Sadly I lost but I believe Oby
Won may be due some coin. I personally do not care to bet
against the High Elder."
Arawn examines the two scrolls. They are nothing more than
promises to help find info on the Elven Plate and the events
that made him banished to this world. Right now they are
words on paper worth nothing. He also knows it may take a long
time weeks if not years to learn the info. But with his great
knowledge and contacts maybe sooner.
Once he finds the info maybe he will find this group again
and ask them to join in his adventure. He wonders if the
same group will be here and alive. They are eager to help
Unali with her Empire in peril so hopes the group will help
him in his own adventure. Assuming it leads to adventure
and not some boring mishap from a low level god who decided
to sneeze rather than cough during a spell.
But now he has the green tome in front of him. he can open
the book to reveal almost glowing like bronze ink. But
sadly he can't seem to read every word. He may have to get
with Kaylle to help find a book on this arcane language if
not visit some land like the Sidh kingdoms to find info.
Arawn simply smiled when Luvac revealed the High Elder's play.
It was not surprising for it appeared that the HE was one to
constantly test, all in effort to better understand those around
him. To the Alfar there was more to this moment than a jest and
he felt that the information gathered would be used as part of
the HE's future plans. Bowing gratefully he accepted the gifts,
wondering just what the future revelations would hold for him,
or even for the whole party.
Ben'dar rushes outside having fought on the decision to
get Tef'wo's mate compared to Pasha's gift. But now to
get all three. He finds the stable and is in awe at the
new horse. Then he returns to study the scroll on Lady
Varo. It takes him a bit of time to read it but he nods
and smiles during the secrets revealed about Lady Varo.
Then he hands it back to Luvac who burns the scroll to ash.
For Pasha's gift he looks inside a small leather bag and
his eyes get wider. He closes the bag quickly and smiles.
But he seems quiet and does not wish to reveal even the
gift given to her. Maybe it is too personal and such show
of emotions from the barbarian is too hard.
Caladan thanks Luvac and hopes Xian could use the gift
for the orphanage. It seems so much better to give to
folks other than oneself. To improve society rather than
ignore it. He holds the scroll which gives his master
refuge in the Dark Lands. He clearly does not need
apprenticeship but to leave his magically guarded valley
in the mountains on the edge of the plains may be too
hard. He will have to plan to get to him to ask him.
But Caladan enjoys the Fire Tome. Though written in
Katai he can seem to understand the runes and pictures.
He will have to learn how to read Katai soon. Maybe
Kaylle can help with that. he shows Unali one page
and she says it is a spell called "Fire Lake." He
shakes his head and can't wait to learn what that spell
is about.
Chion reads the scroll from the High Elder. He can
read Katai and nods. Finally his debt is voided in
full. No longer have to owe something to the High
Elder. He burns the scroll and grins. Then he
reads the scroll on the mysterious gem he "collected"
for the High Elder so long ago a bit even before
he met the party. He frowns and grins at times.
he then reads it twice and finally burns this scroll
as well. Finally he reads the final scroll on the
info that was requested some time ago. This one he
decides to pocket the scroll. He nods and drinks
some ale. For a man who could jump inside a vault
and rob a King doesn't need much. So for him info
is far more powerful than coins.
Farseeker dons the enchanted armor. He is amazed
it fits so well. But its far lighter than chain
yet tougher. This should make riding so much better.
Then he studies the scroll from Duke Aren with his
signature. He shows Unali to confirm that is his
signature and seal. She confirms this making Farseeker
happy. But it was signed by King Maros and his chief
of staff as well. To know that Maros even remembers
him much less trusts him to run a fortress is a honor.
But he knows he could be a few hundred miles from Sivas
in the east. Not a every day ride but he can still come
to visit and send word back. He looks at the candles
on the table and thinks of someday going to Maren to
maybe train at the Academy or on the King's own guard.
Course that would mean less adventure but time to settle
down and find oneself. It has been 9 years or so since
he started this adventure business. Maybe after seeing
Cholan settle down and Ben'dar even dating that even
he should do something.
Then Farseeker tries the two enchanted great swords.
He hefts one and finds it very light and agile. Though
with his supernatural agility that is easy enough. It
almost seems to be tuned in for him. Then he hefts the
other one and tries to attack the wall shadows. At first
it is clear some training will be needed. But maybe
he can learn to use both hands and two great swords.
He smiles at the thought of slaying some bad guy with
two great swords. He doesn't understand the language
but he knows the results of blood. He will have to
train in two handed techniques and hope he is not too
old to train his left hand to do so.
Malic watches the warrior with both great swords and
wonders why the man is doing that. Great swords need
two hands any idiot knows this. Arawn seems to notice
Malic's confusion and explains the magic in translation.
Malic then wonders if he could use those things or earn
the right some day to get the secret.
Malic bags his 30 gold and looks at the magical throwing
enchanted dagger. Cholan shows him a wall target that some
locals use for knife throwing. It is thick wood and shows
signs of wear by man. He stands and tries to throw the
dagger but it is a light toss and falls to the ground. He
shakes his head and will have to throw a dagger to use it.
Unali notices Malic and wants to greet him as did not
have time previously. Through help with Arawn and Will
she urges the man to show her own magical dagger that
Luvac gives. She throws it at the target three times with
good skill. Then she invokes the magic and throws it
at the target. It slams in the center and then 2 seconds
later disappears. She looks down to the dagger's sheath
and smiles as it has returned to her. Malic smiles and
knows his dagger will be the same. He wonders if Luvac
was going to give Unali both daggers and just felt bad
for him.
At times Fremea being a quiet person has taken some air
outside. She looks the magical headband over and notices
the fine runes. She could have used this many times in
her "exercises" in her past tasks. She smiles and dons
the headband and makes the spell active. She then
changes to the outside world. She enters the tavern
again but Cholan stops her. "I'm sorry we are closed
tonight for a private dinner. Come back-"
She smiles and walks to the group. Those who notice
see a tall, at least over 5 feet, human girl with blond
hair. There is no wings and she is wearing a blue dress.
But as soon as she gets near Z'leyra the illusion drops.
She glares at Z'leyra, nods and grins. Z'leyra forgets
her necklace with the stone breaks illusions. That could
be a problem with Fremea in the area.
Cholan looks relieved and closed the tavern door.
Fremea then dons the magical quiver and places a
arrow in it. She then gets help from Luvac on how to
use it. She invokes the spell and it creates two new
arrows. It may not give her 200 arrows like that crazy
Caladan likes in his quiver but it could give her some
extra ammo when needed.
Fremea then picks up the book given to her by Luvac.
She finds a table in a corner and tries to read it. But
she can only view the pictures. From what Luvac said
though she rather not ask others to help read it for now.
She looks to Kaylle and maybe the Scholar can teach her
to read Katai.
Fremea hears her name spoken by Luvac and gets annoyed that
he would mention she talked about getting all the gifts. She
thought he understood discretion and respect for her privacy.
She will help him with his picking up scrolls and putting things
away, by adding some of the itching powder she still has to a
few key areas for when he returns.
When he is not looking at her, she just smiles a little.
Kell hefts the magical spear up and can't wait to
try it. Maybe he can find a slaughterhouse? It seems
a bit more easier to use. The spell inside that Luvac
whispered to him sounds like fun.
Kell then looks at the scroll on the merchant contacts.
There is a bit of spoiler info inside with up to a dozen
countries he might learn contacts from. As far west
as Donara even. He can't wait to get to see Oby Wan
for the full list.
Then Kell sits and looks at the elemental book. The
tome seems interesting. Kell can read Katai as good as
normal merchants so should be able to read it. It may
take some time to study the book and learn some of
the arcane nature of the magic genre.
Kiet watches Kell with his new magical spear, doesn't
he already have 3 of those already? Then the new
magical returning daggers. Those things might have
helped him. But then he gets both Javelins and guess
the High Elder saw what he can do rather than should do.
Luvac explains the properties of the javelins in
low whispers. The acrobat is intrigued by the spells
placed on both javelins. This will give him an
extra added edge for killing. They also seem to be
stronger and easier to use. He will have to test them
out later with some targets that would not burn the
tavern down.
Then he examines the acrobatic boots. Luvac also
goes into details of the spells placed here. Kiet
is in awe that a single item could do all that. Now
maybe he and Z'leyra can run faster in a race against
Fremea flying. He will have to go outside to test
the other spells. The boots seem nice and firm likely
tailored by a Dark Lander who knew his size.
Kiet grins thinking of one spell that would be fun
to use here from it. But again he rather not burn the
place down.
Kiet then sits and looks at the crafting book. Like
Luvac said it isn't rare. But for him it might be
of use. He suspects that Z'leyra probably already
has the book. Then looks at the cover to ensure that
she didn't write it! Nope. But the book seems to
have all the various techniques on crafting using
the spells like enchantment and others. Luvac
points to a few pages where there are some suggested
use for ropes that he might find useful. He reviews
the section pointed out. Some use spells like teleport
on ropes to bring it back. This is a tricky telekinetic
spell but it is noted difficult to enchant. Some
enchanted ropes are used to stun or paralysis others
while other do damage oriented magics.
Raban dons the magical ring. There is a few notes
from the High Elder on the use written in Marentian
this time. Maybe Luvac did it? It explains that
the Gem will glow certain shades of color for
certain aspects of gems like flawless to flawed.
It will even detect magical gems or jewelry if needed.
This might be useful in finding the wife, or rather
the girl that he might be carousing with a nice
gem. Just hope the husband doesn't find out. Not
that it is a common thing but it does happen. Why
can't these gals tell him they are married?
Then Raban inspects the tanning box. It is a empty
wooden box of ornate design. He shrugs. He wonders
why Will got the same thing. But he does like to
try some tanning at times. If he can find the time.
But the most precious gift is the magical bridle.
This will allow him to ride normal horses and not
break their backs. This will improve his riding
chances greatly. Though it is ironic a man that
can fly would need to ride in the first place.
Strie'bog looks at the magical whistle. Without
thinking he blows it to test it. He can feel the
magic and knows it can do more once he really tries.
But suddenly Squirt leaps from Kell's lap totally
awake and runs to the Bard. Strie'bog shrugs
showing that he didn't mean that and gives the
ferret a scratch.
Then Strie'bog examines the magical charm. Luvac
gave him details on how to help the blight in the
forest. Assuming his mother hasn't gotten rid of it
already. Lastly Strie'bog looks at the rare Dawana
books. Something maybe a bit of his father's
culture. He learned to read these books so long
ago and studies them.
Will looks over the buckskins. While they aren't
his own design they seem to fit. Luvac explains a
few of the features and notes that it will act like
a set of Ring for just being leather.
Will checks out his flight belt. Luvac explains the
speed of the belt should make him move fast. Then there
is the added defense spell that Luvac whispers to the
woodsman.
Last Will checks out the ink set. It is a simple looking
Quill and Ink well. The quill is magical and the ink looks
almost purple in the small glass vial. Luvac explains that
the quill can magically change the color of the ink at
will making drawing better. The Quill also improves the
overall quality of the writing.
Z'leyra examines the naked bed frame. The wooden frame
could use a mattress and box set if placed in a upper
class room. But the ornate wood draws attention to the
bottom of the bed Below where the feet normally is over
the edge is a wooden box of small gems. Luvac goes over
the controls and explains the gems will glow based on what
the bed determines. IN some cases basic first aid may not
reveal true problems so this bed can be used for it. The
bed can even determine the level of illness on another set
of gems at the top.
Z'leyra then looks at the God's Eye charm. A simple
circular talisman. Luvac shows how to use it then the
Healer asks Raban to be the first. She uses the charm
to check out his kidney and any other damage. Not used
to seeing inside a body through magic she gets Arawn
to help in some ways as he has used the spell before It
may not be a precise spell compared to just opening a
wound and looking. But it can certainly check things
like broken bones as well as foreign things in the body.
Last Z'leyra admires the Ticasi scroll. She has been
in Ticasi. She heard rumors of the elite library. She
only knew one person the head Librarian who had been there
for over 20 years enter the place. She heard rumors of
the best collection of rare and arcane books in the middle
world is there. From ancient history to magic books. This
should allow her to get that access. She wonders how
the High Elder could have earned that right or where did
he get that right from?
Unali sheathes her teleporting throwing dagger and goes
to the table to look at her other gifts. She examines the
scroll that gives her an apprenticeship in the Dark Lands.
She is wary though. Does this mean she would have to
challenge another wizard or would it be under a current
master? She places the scroll in her bag for now.
She looks at the black clothes and Luvac explains it
has a few enhanced things like the magical gloves and
mask. As well as some magic on the scarf. Others can
hear him say the clothes can change color to fit the
situation depending.
Unali turns to Luvac after he has announced that all gifts
are to be taken, in Katai, "I happily accept these gifts. It is
a calm and joyful day that one not has to make a choice. Such
is refreshing after days of turmoil. For that rest, send our
thanks to your master."
She smiles and continues, "although I must admit part of his
gifts comes across as somewhat cheeky. Either I am not aware
that the High Elder is willing to take apprentices, or he is
giving away apprenticeships with other, presumably yet
unsuspecting masters. I do hope none of the other gifts have
unsuspecting former owners that we have to be aware of."
Unali gets a bit more serious, "And more so, were we still in
Katai, this scroll would not so much represent a gift, but a
death warrant. Two countries so close, but so different in
nature. But I will accept the scroll for at least part of what
it stands for, as it represents access to the Dark Lands. That
alone is a precious gift."
Luvac does a bow and smiles. Is this guy some smile
fetish guy? He removes his smile and speaks up. "At the
Dark Lands there is preset domains each with a Master. Those
masters have apprentices. Many are sent to Katai for tests
to perform tasks to become full learners. Some try at home
and learn in groups. The bold ones will challenge the master
to be the new master. The others will become common mages who
serve villages in the domains. So at this point the
apprenticeship is to one such master not to be Master of a
domain."
Luvac looks around the room and finally clears his
throat for one final comment. "Some items are trade
secrets. Like the teleporting daggers and a few
others. We do appreciate that no one use magic to
determine how they were made or back engineer the items
to duplicate. If you have questions we can try to
help you out but some of the magic techniques should not
leave the dark lands."
---------------
[Time: 1:50am - Sunrise - Sivas, Marentia]
Raban is one that could take a whole barrel of
ale and maybe not get drunk due to his size. But
as the hours go on he plays his musical instruments
for the party. He even dances a few times with
Z'leyra as well.
But when Kell loses a hand to Caladan in cards the
room gets a bit quiet. Fremea looks at the big
guy and wonders if he will be around.
Farseeker though has taken his 5th ale and starts
to see three candles in front of him rather than the
one in reality. He leanss over and places his head
on the giant's shoulder. "So how come you can fly?"
Raban looks down and considers the question. He looks
up to notice other eyes watching him. He almost died
on this last battle. Maybe it is time. Maybe Miryan
will not mind. "My mother Areta Usherwood married...
a non human. A Mir that has the ability to fly among
other things." He looks to Strie'bog who has a mother
for a Green Lady and human father. Then to the
half-Elf and nods. "So yes I am a half breed."
Farseeker stands and lifts his mug with a bit of
shaking hand and wonders why the room is spinning like
a beggar who finds a gold coin. They love to spin and
dance when they know they can buy more ale. "I wish
to give thanks to Unali our fearless leader. At times
she was quiet but with her Empire of millions at stake
I don't blame her. She has done a great job. The use..
use of..." He burps and holds his hand over his mouth.
"ahh..excuse me!" Then runs out the tavern to the outhouse.
-----------
[Augado 11th - Sepes 24th, 1634TH]
[Location: Marentia (Sivas/Maren), Pavassa Forest]
[Aug 11 - Sivas]
Ben'dar has been very eager to return to his ranch and now
with the gift from the High Elder also to see Pasha. Though
he is happy and boisterous mostly spending time with Malic,
Kell and Farseeker he seems subdued. Earlier when he returns
to Chion's place he sent a messenger to his Stewart at the
ranch to let him know he will be back in a few days.
That night when he finds Tef'wo's mate he is amazed at the
sight of her. This large powerful horse is of tan and white
color. For the Zen'dan that is a rare color for the plains.
He can tell from the look of her mane that this horse is
strong and fast. He places both horses together for them
to get along. He asks Z'leyra to explain to Tef'wo that
this is his mate if he so desires.
[Aug 12]
Ben'dar leaves with Chion to the Plains then the Pavasa
forest without Tef'wo. Some have asked about Lady Varo
but he refuses as the High Elder asked him to keep it quiet.
Luvac let the barbarian read the scroll then destroy it from
prying eyes as well. But once back in the ancient forest
he eagerly dashes to find Pasha almost out running Strie'bog
who is here to stay for awhile.
[Aug 13 - 18 - Pavassa Forest and Maren, Marentia]
Ben'dar spends a great deal of time with the cute Vassa
girl who he fell in love from his last visit her. At least
he feels in love. A Zen'dan can only love his tribe, his
horse and the plains. But some do say even women can be
added in there at times.
When the group arrives in the forest to pick up Ben'dar
he announces that he is engaged to marry the girl. She has
agreed to go to his Ranch to live as long as some occasional
trips to return with help from a teleporter. Congratulations
go around to the two and then the group returns to Marentia.
Riding Tef'wo and yet unnamed mate both ride to Maren
city to his horse breeding ranch. He says his farewells
to those in Sivas and hopes to see them soon if possible.
During these days the barbarian trains in dagger fighting
with help from some teachers.
[Aug 19 - 21 - Maren, Marentia, Ranch]
At the ranch things settle down back to a routine The
Stewart gives him the reports on the new horses and those
which sold. Those which trained and new requests for
training. The shift of incomes from one source to another.
This is why he hired the Stewart this business stuff is
a bit too much for him. He wants to do the work but not
the boring books. He mentions Kell and how maybe to
contact him in Sivas if he needs some advice on trades.
While he trains the horses naturally he does spend time
more on dagger fighting. This allows him a extra boost
in his fighting skill.
[Aug 22 - 30 - Maren, Marentia, Ranch]
Ben'dar decides to spend his spare time breaking new
horses practicing his horse archery skill. During this
time Tef'wo and Maris his now named mate gets closer.
[Aug 31 - Sepes 9 - Maren, Marentia, Ranch]
Ben'dar and Pasha sets a time for the wedding which
should be sometime next spring. He sends word to Cholan
to let others know.
During these few days he rides more than most would
in a year. He practices his simple skill in riding.
[Sepes 9 - 24 - Maren, Marentia, Ranch]
During this time Ben'dar finds some horses weak and some
sick. He treats them back to health and so learns more
and practices his own husbandry skills.
