[Recap]
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet purchased his two person tent with the intention of
keeping himself and his belongings close and dry, as well
as having plenty of room. But this opportunity is too good
to pass up!
Kiet says to the noobie dancer, "You are welcome to join ...
GM: Ack. Already cheating on the seamstress. :) j/k
From Kiet: [Re: Tent]
And she probably smells better!
(Joke, not insult!)
GM: Ack. Depends on how often she bathes. :)
From Zabyra: [Re: Tent]
Zabyra smiles and nods her head in ackowledgement of ...
GM: Ack. I LOVE this response. :) Reminds me of Nikita
(tv version not movie) sly, cool but strong. :)
From Zabyra: [Re: Actions]
OOC:trying to catch up.here are some bits from everything up
to Game Update #8
... In Game:Zabyra is a bit overwhelmed by Kell's generosity....
At some point it occurs to Zabyra that she will be...
Zabyra offers to pay the 3 copper coins that is her ..
When Z'leyra questions Zabyra about language, she replies
that Rogizini is her native tongue and that she has picked
up some Marentian.
GM: Ack. Remember Julian no need to return here until you
are ready. There is no obligation. If you do not have
time to read every post just read the updates as they
will have all public posts in it. So can do it in one
email not a dozen. So might have time if rushed. Reading
every post does help to respond to things faster but
its not required. I like how your playing IC as a
middle eastern style cultured woman. Good role playing.
From Pyandalgor: [Re: Actions]
Pyandalgor just looks confused, he doesn't understand...
Pyandalgor only speaks Omavor, and knows Sign language
and how to read Marentian
Pyandalgor take the necklace and signs a thanks of gratitude
I think I'll go with the boring route of talking to people
GM: Ack. Boring it is. :) It would've been fun to have
a person looking confused all the time till end of
the adventure. Folks yelling out - what that dragon
as it bites your head off. :) But that is fun
and we'll go with the easy way for now. :) At the
time of the combat consider you speak Marentian.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Novehas 16:
Having run short on time to procure another steed while in
Sivas Arawn resorted to riding 'Aquelas', who had arrived
unexpectedly with Ben'dar, the horse having sheltered with the
herd at the barbarian's ranch. Although capable of altering the
situation to claim a steed strong enough to bear the additional
gear for the journey he held off for now, even avoiding for now
the temptation to transmute his equine friend into a stronger,
swifter version of himself with fae magic.
But this left both Aquelas and Unali's steed to suffer
beneath their burden, their complaints plain to his ears and
tugging at his heart. He whispered promises to ease their burden
with a companion steed upon arriving in Malnon, a week away. For
now he offered blessings upon them, invoking Sidh powers to
increase their strength and endurence.
OOC: Bless EL 4 (double mana to increase duration to 10
days, recast until succesful) on Arawn's horse to increase
Strength and Stamina and ease encumbrance burden. Unali, if
you want this on your horse let me know and Arawn will do so.
Novehas 16
Arawn avoided scouring the fort for a suitable horse as the
party seemed in a hurry. However he did take a moment to
purchase supplies at the mess hall and general store - grain
and food for at least part of the journey.
OOC: Unless they've already been added to the CS Arawn
will attempt to purchase 10 FP of Feed/Grain for his horse
and 8 FP, though he plans on supplementing this by using his
Survival skills to forage in the Hills when time permits.
Novehas 17
Though Arawn couldn't be sure as to what was going...
"Translocating closer..." he informed the party, ...
OOC: Arawn will have Aquelas 'stay' while he Translocates
to a spot 60 feet away from the two groups. He'll cast at
the minimum necessary to take anyone else with him that
wishes to translocate closer.
GM: Ack. Did I miss something? Ben'dar came with your horse?
I don't recall that at all. :< All I know is you are
riding the RH1. Now you say to bless them which is
a good idea but that screws up tons of things for me.
At first you said in email it was good to go now this
change. So I'll have to redo all the math on weight
and travel times and thus encounters. Now buying
Grain that will add even more weight. You say 10 fp
and 8 fp? Is that 8 for you? Rations?
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
OOC: I meant to hand the bag over empty as I was working
on the assumption that Arawn had already purchased a sturdier
horse but as he offered I think this should still work out well:)
"This bag should reduce weight considerably," he said,...
OOC: Arawn offers Bag 3 (Scott). The bag can hold 120lbs
on a rack and weight is reduced by -60% (currently has about
28lb and weighs just over 11lbs right now)
"And if at some point we need a cart or somesuch until ...
GM: Ack. No new horse. Same old RH1 as I can see. As to
the Bag given over this will make your horse even more
burdened as it helped your horse. Unali's horse like
I said in the old update is fine 100% normal speed
until she added the grain. The grain is what is
the issue. Since no wagon was taken this added weight
and slowed her. But as I said in old update this
is not a factor of any of my math. As the slowest
horse (your horse) is the factor. Now based on the
changes above it will be even more so. :< Ok. Where
do you get the 120 pounds for the bag? My info is
bags are 20 and 50. But since carrying in a non rack
that's 20 max. Bag 3 is currently 26 pounds -4 for
magic so 22 and 20 x 60% increase is max 32 pounds.
So you could add 6 pounds. Grain is 10. So 26+10=36x15%
So that's 31 pounds which is good to fit 32. So now
I will reshuffle and redo the math. On. Unali's horse
is lighter and gets +1 pmr but as I said before doesn't
matter as she is not the slowest horse. You giving the
bag gain +1 pmr. By doing the blessing can carry 40
more pounds. Ok. So now horse is fine normal speed.
New slowest horses are the WH2s at 23. That is only 1
mile per day so I really don't want to do the math
over again so will just consider you ride slower. :)
This is why I mentioned in old updates in the end
it really doesn't matter shifting stuff. Now once
grain is carried then I'll have to redo the math.
And he ends with a cart comment. It won't slow
things but if grain is hauled it will need to haul
enough for all horses if that is the issue. Just keep
that in mind. At 10 lbsx10 horses ? That's at least
100 pounds per day. I think I did the math on this
in a older update.
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Standard Operating Procedures
Each day Z'leyra will ask Corona to scout ahead and to inform
her of what lies ahead, especially anything likely to be
hazardous such as monsters, groups of people set up in ambush
positions, et cetera. Around each campsite will also be scouted.
Corona may advise about animals near the road that may be worth
hunting. While Corona is welcome to the jerky Z'leyra has
packed it is likely that rabbits and other small prey animals
will provide most of his food.
When needed loads will be redistributed amongst the horses to
keep the party from slowing below the speed of the slowest
horse because of encumbrance.
The necklace that has been enchanted for learning languages
will be shared around the party. First to get everyone speaking
Marentian, then equally to grant folks chances to learn other
languages known by party members. I suggest everyone also learn
Salaqi and Donaran. [Since its enchantment is based on the
Tongues spell the chance to learn to Max EL is the wearer's
Will+Empathy.]
As a skilled herbalist Z'leyra keeps an eye out for
worthwhile herbs near the path.
Each night the party will either stop at an inn where
Z'leyra will pay for a common room (folks may pay to upgrade
to private rooms if they wish) and stabling of the horses
including feeding them hay and water, or camp with a eye to
not being too obvious from the road. [Exception Thaliba.] The
campfire will surrounded by rocks and horses hobbled or tied
to stay near. Each night Z'leyra will use her Watchful Sleep
brooch and sleep. Since only those actually awake and on watch
will likely be wearing more than cloth armor the other party
members are to each take a watch such that two folks are up
and armored at a time. Typically one newbie and an old hand
or two old hands.
GM: Ack. Corona - Campfire Scouting can do far less at
nightfall. So will be less effective. Can't speed
up slow horses as I said a few times there should
be plenty of time unless you spend days in each city.
Correction its not Max EL in the language. The learned
language is starting EL (Em). The herbalist stuff would
have to be a IBT action as I may forget to do the
rolls. If table game would be easy but for pbem too
much to keep track of. But we'll see maybe I will
remember. Pay for rooms and horse feed. Ack. But
not every night will be Inns around. Yes the spell changed
in v2. Used to be Max EL now its Starting EL (EM).

[New Stuff]
[Sivas, Marentia]
[Novehas 15th, 1634TH]
[Time: 3:07pm]
At the tavern Z'leyra tries to learn what languages the
Hunter and dancer have.
Zabyra explains she knows Rogizini and a bit of Marentian.
Pyandalgor just looks confused, he doesn't understand any of
them.
The hunter wonders if these people are just teasing him or
being weird. Waving signs around, scribbling notes and
speaking in languages he never has ever heard before. All
he wants to do is go west nothing more.
Then Fremea helps by writing notes to him. It starts
to make a bit of sense. They are trying to find a common
tongue for him to speak. This young girl seems very friendly.
The hunter tries to write some of the language she knows on
a old napkin.
Pyandalgor only speaks Omavor, and knows Sign language and
how to read Marentian
Fremea translates for the others who are not nearby to
read the note.
Kell raises a eyebrow, "reads but doesn't speak it?
Sounds like a guy I knew who traveled from market to
market. But it was a trick he understood but did not
speak the language. So he could listen and learn
details and pretend to be a rube and sell his stuff.
It was actually quite clever."
Nodding Z'leyra tries to explain to the hunter about
a necklace in her hands. The Hunter is wary could this
be some trick to fry his brain or make him a slave?
She is still holding the necklace out to him and he
wonders if he can trust her. He then looks at Fremea
who is nodding a bit of encouragement. He looks at
the others in the tavern. That noble who ever he was
seemed to trust these folks. Maybe if he can then
he can risk it.
Pyandalgor takes the necklace and signs a thanks of
gratitude
[Time: 4:10pm]
Kell takes Zabyra shopping for winter clothing. "I
know if this was summer you would need little as you are
used to the heat from where you are from. Heck could
even go naked as long as you didn't burn that lovely
skin." He smiles and winks then continues down the
street. "But if not used to the cold it can be dangerous."
[Time: 6:38pm]
As night starts Kell walks Zabyra back to her Inn for the
night.
Zabyra is a bit overwhelmed by Kell's generosity.
Returning from the markets with so many new articles of
clothing seems to have the dancer a bit flustered. Zabyra
began by refusing Kell's gifts, twice, but relented to his
offer the third time. After all, it would be rude to refuse
more than twice. Still, she cannot help wondering if there
will be a price that must be paid in the future.
"I do this because I can." He stops and looks at the
dancer as if reading her thoughts. "It is only a few
coin and since ..the last few years I've gotten enough.
Not as much as Z'leyra or Unali with their homes but
enough to live on. I would be beside myself as one
of my Ba'ru human friends says back home - if you froze
on this trip. I do not know your intention for this
trip or why you have joined us. None of my concern
but if you decide to go on with us in the end then
friendship is better than coins lost. I'm told of
a story in your lands. The person who sees great golden
containers and spots the one rusty dingy one and chooses
the dusty one is better off. Because that dusty one
might lead to a being who can give rewards. But even
those rewards have a price. I may have the story wrong.
It is some moral thing. Personally one can find a chest
of rare gems or lose a friend. I rather have that friend
than gems." He looks up at the stars. Then back at
her and winks. "Don't tell the others that my reputation
as a merchant would be ruined."
Given time to more properly examine Zabyra's attire, it seems
that the armor and the scimitar are dainty, but well-crafted.
Clearly of a culture that values style, the arms and armor are
fancifully detailed. They seem more like costume pieces than
proper war attire and you might wonder if they are going to
actually withstand combat.
Kell does a half bow. "Your place ma'am. If you need
more stuff let us know in the morning. After today it
will be at least a full week before the next major city.
Now I must head out. I have some errands of my own."
With that the half-Elf fades into the night down the street.

[Sivas, Marentia]
[Novehas 16th, 1634TH]
[Time: 7:02am]
Kiet helps shift some of Arawn's gear but comments
that the horse is probably still burdened a bit even
with his and Kell's help. Kell grumbles again that
maybe a wagon would've saved all this.
Arawn hands over one of his magical bags to Unali who
also seems to have some weight issues. But Kell comments
that once the grain is gone her horse is fine.
"This bag should reduce weight considerably," Arawn said,
offering one of his magical bags. "I have a few things in
there but even with feed stuffed in it the weight should still
be reduced for your horse."
"And if at some point we need a cart or some such until we
can pick one up in Malnon let me know as I can do something
about that."
Unali thanks Arawn for the bag and places it on her horse
after putting her grain bag in it.
[Time: 7:35am]
Zabyra checks her loaned horse to see if maybe she was
given food for herself or horse but finds none. Maybe
it was just a oversight.
Zabyra turns to Z'leyra and speaks in Rogizini. "Forgive me,
but it only now occurs to me that there we will not be dining
at a tavern every night. I should buy food."
[Time: 8:38am]
Zabyra scowls at the man who owns the ferry and even she
realizes this is a bit steep in price. She reaches in
to her coins to grab some. She notices Kiet and Kell
doing the same. She walks forward but Z'leyra plops the
silver coins in the man's hand. She offers both the
man and Z'leyra to pay. But Z'leyra just shakes her
head.
[Time: 9:15am]
On the barge the party introduces themselves to the new folks.
Red Shirt looks to the dancer for her to react as he just
introduced himself.
When the remark is made about people introduce themselves,
Zabyra does not react. Perhaps her poor grasp of Marentian
failed her? Perhaps she didn't even hear a request? If prodded,
she will simply say, "Hello, I am Zabyra. Nice to meet you."
After a few of the others speak about themselves, Fremea
wonders how much is really true from them. She knows she just
fell into this group and really didn't learn much before they
took her around the group and really didn't learn much before
they took her around the world and back. Does her information
matter at this point? The new people don't really know much
about them and that is not a bad idea to keep it that way, until
they prove themselves, but then again, maybe that is just her
old training keeping her safe. She sighs a little bit too
loudly.
"I am Fremea. As you can see from my wings, I am a Faerry. I
have recently found my parents and will make sure they stay
safe along with my kids. And by kids, I mean the ones that
deserve to be taught and helped and loved, so that none of
them have to go through a hard life as much." Any who look at
her will see that she has a few bags strapped around her in
just the right positions, so as to keep her balanced when she
flies. She has a nice bow that is carried on her back with a
complement of arrows. To most it might be dagger sized,
[Time: 7:42pm]
As camp is being finished the horses start to graze a bit
again. Tonight there is no inn nearby. This side of the
fort there is little towns by the fort unlike in the eastern
side of the province.
Kiet smiles and gathers his metal bucket and shovel. Folks
figure he needs to do a latrine run in the woods. A good
fellow would at least bury the stuff. But instead he takes
the shovel and gathers some dirt and places it in the bucket.
He then reaches into a pouch and pulls a shiny round object.
He places it in the bucket with dirt and murmurs a few words.
He reaches in and grabs the shiny object and places it
back into his pouch. Then he moves to his two horses and
lets them sniff it. They begin to eat the contents in the
bucket.
Red Shirt sitting nearby frowns, "feeding your horse dirt
is just low man."
Kiet smiles and waves him forward. The man stands and
comes over to look inside. He then glances up and says
"Oats?"
Kiet explains that he made a magic item to create oats.
It will feed a small horse for sure but with the help
of grazing it should supplement any loss of food for both
horses. So he will probably never have to get food for
his horses unless there is no grass.
Red Shirt shrugs, "impressive."
Then after the horses are done Kiet cleans the bucket with
a damp cloth using just a bit of water from his own skin. Enough
to get rid of the excess material. It doesn't have to be
perfect though just rinsed as good as possible. He then digs
for his laddle in his bag. He collects some stones nearby
places them into the bucket. Then using the magical laddle
creates water enough for 2 men. He lets the horses drink
their portion of the water.
[Time: 8:00pm]
Kell looks at Red Shirt and nods at his shirt. "Why the
vibrant color?"
Red Shirt shrugs, "There is a merchant in Maren who gets
dyes from Katai and Teos. She says its rare in Marentia.
But with this dye and her sewing skills....yarn I assume
of dyed color...she makes colorful things like this. One
Knight wears this purple hat that looks nice. I just
like red."
His cousin grunts and laughs, "natural reds as well."
He elbows his friend on a personal joke it seems.
Red Shirt continues, "its not good for stealth or hunting
but for casual use its fun. I got about 20 such shirts. I
want to buy a nice red skin snake belt I saw but did not have
the money last I was in Maren."
[Time: 8:12pm]
Kiet gives his challenge to the 4 new members. He adds
at the end.
"Oh, I may have forgotten to mention...it's an enchanted
blade.. and quite valuable..."
He watches the new members wondering if they will take
up his challenge.
[Time: 9:15pm]
By now all tents are setup for those who will not be on
sentry duty. Kiet notices the dancer sitting by the
fire. He notices that the dancer doesn't even have a
sleeping mat much less any bedroll. How will she sleep
tonight in the cold? He wonders why Kell didn't buy
her that stuff but she must be hard up on coins for not
even getting camping gear.
Kiet straightens his tunic and combs his hair with his hands.
He wonders if Z'leyra has some that smelly perfume stuff?
Probably not. Kiet walks toward the dancer and pretends to
warm his hands from the heat of the campfire.
Kiet says to the noobie dancer, "You are welcome to join me
in my tent." Then he says quietly to her "You are a lot smaller
than our silent hunter over there...it will make for more room."
Zabyra smiles and nods her head in acknowledgement of Kiet's
offer. "Where I am from, unmarried women sleep with a blade in
hand, to protect their honor. Will there be room in the tent
for my scimitar?" Then her voice drops to a whisper, for Kiet's
ears alone. "Or perhaps this is your way of asking for my hand?"
On the other side of the fire Kell is cleaning his boots from
the sand and dust and hears this. He snickers very low hearing
the crafty woman.
[Time: 9:30pm]
As others talk around the campfire trying to learn things
about the new folks or the new folks about the old folks
stories and jokes are given.
Kiet listens to the stories of Clima and juggles his
fighting daggers in the air. He juggles all 3 at one time.
He can't help but notice the dancer watching intently.
[Time: 10:48pm]
Unali asks Arawn and Z'leyra if she can borrow the language
necklace for a few days to learn some languages. She would
need help from both as they know those languages.
Actions? Comments?
Next Update....Monday?..
' GM: Stuff happened so had delayed. Either very 13th hour
posts, storms or other stuff. But we move on. The
above is bit/pieces of all the actions by time marks.
Plenty to comment on and such. I do not know if
I will do a update for Labor day (USA) as folks may
be out of town. It really depends on my own time and
how many posts come in. My vacations start today. I
will have every Monday off till 2016 so will work
on Monday updates now mid afternoon rather than evening.
Thus giving me Mon/Tue/Wed off. Some Thursdays
I will also have off so that will help with Friday
updates and will work on those Thursday afternoons.
It not off then will try Wednesday afternoon. I have
2-3 Thursdays a month but not every Thursday for a
4 day weekend. So this will be my work SOP till 2016.
This is part 1 of the update. New players I sometimes
divide up the updates due to size. This is already 600
lines so felt it could use dividing.
GM: New Players - I typically do combat updates in two phases.
That is 6 seconds. That means you should speak as little
during those phases. If you speak a big 100 line verse
then it might take you 5 min. So keep that in mind. The
words would be cut off. So if you say "Charge the dragon
and cut him from the flank and behind. Archers fire as soon
as he lands and the casters will use cold spells." Well
I count that as at least 3 maybe 4 phases based on how
fast I speak. Not speed talking but normal speech. So
that's up to 12 seconds and by time you do that the dragon
landed and toasted half your party. :) Just a FYI.
Also I have a Retro action thing. If you want to post
a old action say Kiet's challenge that is perfectly
fine as its Role Playing. You may continue that
thread as long as you want. Retro actions only do not
happen when it may affect the future. If you did
not bring that shovel and you need it at the current
update end. You can't say I buy a shovel in the city.
That would affect the future so should've been done already.
Typically these travel updates happen until the next encounter
so when will that be who knows. It could be hours or a few
days if no encounters in game time.
GM: Panthera - You now speak Marentian but at a low EL.. This
is based on your Empathy stat so look at that for
your language EL. 40 is considered fluent enough.
80 is considered expert. To make it more common
you speak enough like a tourist or a cave man. You
can get basic gists of things. If they say duck
you can understand it. But if they say Avoid the
Ballista fire! Then that Ballista word will confuse you.
So you can now chat - more or less with the party
without writing. For more elaboration you can use Sign
or write it down. BTW Ok to just call you Pyan? :) It
is short and a good nickname and I tend to forget letters
even with your name in the roster? If not I can use the
full name.
GM: New Players - Kiet has issues a get-to-know-you challenge.
Granted Julian is distracted. But Panthera can reply and
maybe win the sword. :) Its role playing meant to urge
and get used to you. The npcs the cousins will not likely
respond until after you guys do.
GM: Website updates -
* Language File - After 2 years this file is updated. It
has current languages for each person. I removed some
old folks no longer in group. If I missed a current
language you have (at top) let me know.
Unali has requested the necklace a few days (see the
slots in file).
This is First 16 days are taken leaving 30 or so more.
So if you want to learn more languages (new players
as well) let me know. See language file on website.
* Adventure Time/Food/etc. - This file is also updated.
It is the Adventure #7 Timeline link. The file is
as follows
o Top is a short timeline - This is so I can update the
master pbem timeline later.
o Food
First is personal food. I list daily dates. I will
tick down notes on what is eaten assuming no tavern
in the area. R is for Rations or other foods. The
dancer is the only one without food. So for the
first night Kell will loan her some rations. If
you want to loan some for her let me know.
Section part is Horse food - This figure is based
on grazing (if grass is around) and grain if the
person has grain. Grazing will be a random factor.
If your horse gets less than 3 in this table he will
be missing food. You will not really know this figure
until he starts to show signs of starvation. I will
probably use the Starve rules Wout came up (see his
site). This includes personal food. Asking a horse
if he got enough is misleading so don't depend on that.
A horse will always want more even if full.
* IBT - Last is the IBT section if given info.
I will try to update this file each update OR in each
leg of travel. Each leg is from city to city. I've
posted that info before. Consult these links/files
for more info when needed.
GM: First Leg of Trip
Slowest Horse - 22 MR (+25% Road- +6)
Speed - 28 MR MPH/day on road
Per hour- 2.3 miles/hour
To Malnon -200 miles 100 by Plains, 100 by Hills
Nov 16 - 1030am-7pm - Plains - 15
16 - 7am-7pm - Plains - 28
17 - 7am-7pm - Plains - 28
18 - 7am-7pm - Plains - 28
19 - 7am-7pm - Hills - 28
20 - 7am-7pm - Hills - 28
21 - 7am-7pm - Hills - 28
22 - 7am-240pm- Hills - 17
~240-Enter Malnon
[Assuming no delays]
I will recalc the Second Leg using the new speed 23
not 22.
