[Recap]
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
After looking at the wounds and attempting to determine ...
Later after greeting each newcomer she will use the necklace
to learn Dwarven and tell folks to establish an order in which
they may use it to try to learn Kameran. One attempt per day.
GM: Ack
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Yes, you did the protection spells just right. THANKS!
Sorry I couldn't answer soon enuff. Small family crisis...
wifey fell down some steps and hurt herself, but looks to be
not too bad. Might be broken ankle, or just a sprain. Wait
and see. At least she's safe now.
GM: Ack. Is she better? My niece has been having issues with
her foot due to some guy lifting her up and putting her
down hard. She keeps reinjuring it. I hope your wife is
good as with her overall siutaiton that can't help her
overall health.
From Pyan: [Re: Actioons]
Pyan looks to the Dark haired man and holds his bow, not...
Sorry about being late. Was driving to Mississippi. Stopped
at a McD's Wednesday but wasn't there long enough to fully read
monday's update.
GM: Ack. BTW those tag lines at end of your posts. Reminds me
of signatures i used to do on my BBS but it was auto generated.
What generates yours? No problem. Wow. Your biggest post.
We'll get you doing big political speeches to make you
mayor soon! Will you build a wall?
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet isn't really as set on 'freeing the slaves' ...
...he says "May I look at it also? I don't want ...
GM: Ack.
From David: [Re: Actions]
Ok...I'm a huge fan of using spreadsheets for characters.
They seem to be the best way to keep track of things. It
makes calc-ing weights super easy. Current, current maximum
AND POTENTIAL skill maximums are all really simple.
I should send you some stuff I already have.
I also volunteer to help you develop them! That's what lunch
hours are for! This is literally entertainment for me. I'm
very geeky when it comes to excel.
GM: Ack. Roger. I'd need Attributes, basic stats (MEL, mep, hpv
and all those basic stats), skills and spells. I may consider
gear but that leads to other issues. We'd need to use IF
style statements - If Ring Worn then this is in efffect
IF Ring and necklace worn etc. All those magic items have
to be accounted for. A basic sheet is fine assuming all
magic items are worn. But this isn't the case all. If it
was not magic item issue it'd be a easy sheet.I think Z has
the major improvements. Let me check. Yep. She has R items
and others have like J or L. So R is what 18 various changes
to the sheet. All these have to be taken in account so 20?
Yeah its not going to be easy.
From Pyan: [Re: Actions]
I vote for spreadsheets.
GM: Ack. Yours I could probably do in one night. Since you
have no magic gear :) So yours is a cinch.
From Kell: [Re: Necklace]
Ha'Kell will also use the neclace to learn Kameran. Then
he will focus on improving his fluencey as we ride closer.
GM: Ack. Riding won't be long 2 days max. :)
From Kell: [Re: Actions]
Kell smiles as we have another spear wielder. Finally! He
grins and says to his friend Kiet, "See. Another with good...
GM: Ack.
From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
I second this. Text sheets are ok, but klunky. I'd prefer
to use something that adds up weights and other stuff. That
drives me nuts.
GM: Ack. That's why I do all that math. :) But I understand.
I will work with David on this. I could do it but time
is slim these holiday days.
From Dorhak:
Dorhak mumbles to himself"If nobody else is going to I...

From Mae: [Re: Actions]
Maelorna runs her fingers over her neck, her sensitive ...
...Fremea "I am in your debt, I offer my skills and talents ...

GM: Ack.
From Bert: [Re: Actions]
[Hello! I'm Bert, playing the character: Mournath a Marentian
sailor, scholar and chronicler. He fancies himself a writer and
has a love of adventure and exploration. This is my first post
and I apologize if I get the format incorrect on this.]
(He has a slight smile on his lips that sparkles in his eyes as
he speaks, lowering his spear point to the ground in a less
threatening manner) Â [Mournath speaks at first in Marentian,
then Zen'dali and Bhamoti if it does not appear that he is
being understood] Â âTruce, friend. I mean no harm to you
or your own. I find myself ship-wrecked and ill prepared for
this land about me, and would count it as a blessing to not
have to bloody my spear this day. I know not where I find
myself, perhaps you can help with that? [speaking to the man
in front of him]Â Further, have you ran across any others in
my particular situation along this stretch of land? I've a
Captain of a certain ship that I have a score to settle with."
GM: Ack. You are doing the format fine. [] is fine for OOC
or just use OOC: at start or IC for in character stuff.
The () is fine for introspections or '' single qutoe. ""
for dialogue. The above last paragraph has a ending "
so I'll have to figure out start of that dialgoue later
in the body of update. But your fine.
From Kell: [Re: Actions]
I second Daves opinion. Excel sheets! I also volunteer my time
to assist with them.
Or a simplified text format second place vote. All thay
spacing can look odd.
GM: Ack. I like the spacing for ease of reading when you have
to check 10 character sheets I need things to find fast.
This is why I prefer text. Excel is great for the math
but Text for ease of reading/finding data. Now that Dave
gets his sheets he can run a pbem!!!! C'mon Dave!!!
From Kell: [Re: Actions]
Kell smiles as the collar falls free. One less slave.
Whilst governments and cultures accept slavery, he doesn't.
GM: Ack.
From David: [Re: Sheet format]
Ok...I'm a huge fan of using spreadsheets for characters....
GM: Ack. Opps a dupe post I captured. Keep in mind sheets
are fine character wise but consider loading them for 10
folks and back and forth. :) As a GM.
From Kell; [Re: Actions]
Kell offers to ride in the line wherever is best He ...
GM: Ack.
From Mae: [Re: Actions]
<<Basing this upon a statement Scott stated about that
introductions were done.>>
Maelorna looks at the sailor and smiles, glad that another....
GM: Ack.
From Mark: [Re: Actions]
//first i have a new email. Markpnpg at gmail.com. to stop
all those bounces. Please use that for me. I will keep
this and check it but not as often. Thanks! \\
Kell offers food as well. "We do have food and i am willing...
GM: Ack. I did get bounces but it was likely your Yahaoo again since
you posted 3 times and 1 was from Yahoo. So we should be good
to go i hope. Sorry for you to change emails. I feel bad.
From Mark: [Re: Email]
Hi all.
Mark here with my brand spanking new gmail. Please use this
and no more yahoo emails. Can you update the list? This is
just better for all. Thanks! Mark. Aka. Kell
GM: Ack. Update list as in remove the yahoo acct? You can do that
as well. At top of every list post are headers one is List-
unSubscribe. But I can do it later. Kind of behind on
this update today.

[New Stuff]
[Febris 3rd, 1635TH]
[North of River in Kamaran Lands in Forest]
[Time: 8:47 am]
Kell smiles as the collar falls free. One less slave.
Whilst governments and cultures accept slavery, he doesn't.
Dorhak is almost nailed in the groin by the flying
necklace when the red head throws it. Was it on purpose
or just bad luck.
Dorhak mumbles to himself. "If nobody else is going to I guess
I will".The hirsute dwarf looks around and picks up the piece
of the collar that barely missed him. he looks around for the
other piece and looks at them really close. Into his pack if
nobody objects
Kiet watches the slave girl being freed.
Kiet isn't really as set on 'freeing the slaves' as the
rest of his cohort might be, but he's not totally against it
either. They do, however, get impetuous about such things.
For Kiet, slavery is just the nature of things. Some are
born to be slaves. Some, but very few, rise above it. Slaves
were a resource back home in Lemasa.
Kiet dismounts and heads over to the dwarf. He'd like to
look at the collar too. It's construction and quality were
good and Kiet was wondering if he could learn anything by
examining it. To Dorhak, he says "May I look at it also? I
don't want to keep it, but it is interesting."
Kiet tries to explain to Dorhak that he makes jewelry by
pointing to the rings on his fingers then pointing at himself,
then making quick finger movements like he's making something,
then pretends to place it on his pinky finger. Hopefully the
hairy, ugly little dwarf will understand.
Maelorna runs her fingers over her neck, her sensitive fingers
feeling the grime and flesh where there should be cold metal
and gives a relieved smile. Then without thought she
prostrates herself before Fremea "I am in your debt, I offer
my skills and talents to you until such time the debt has been
repaid." she offers sincerely.
She can feel the touch of Lucria with an almost electric
thrill crawling up her spine, as for the first time in four
years time she is able to enjoy the touch of another without
fearing pain if she fails to act properly. She gives Lucria
a knowing smile as she stands up and regards him almost
hungrily, her emerald eyes showing promise of delights and
deviations. It's only once he motions to follow the others
does she stop herself. 'You idiot, stop this now.' she chides
herself mentally.
Looking down at the collar, she regards it for a moment,
having worn it for so many years after being sold to him.
With a mental shrug she turns to watch the others moving off,
then picking up her pack and slinging the crossbow onto her
back, she takes the first tentative step and then finding
nothing hindering her, follows behind them.Â
Why are those so interested in her collar? She shrugs and
moves on.
'With luck indeed, Gniled will find her being free something
to fear.' she thinks to herself as she wonders what might become
of her now.
With almost a bemused smile, Maelorna watches as the dwarf
picks up the two halves of the collar and shrugs, the metal
wasn't precious and for her it represented far more what her
mother did to her, more than her being property.
[Time: 8:50 am]
After looking at the wounds and attempting to determine if
they were made pre or post mortem Z'leyra will look for the
tracks and try to determine if the party is in any danger from
what made the wounds in the corpse.
Z'leyra can tell the main wound on the man's left chest was
the killing blow. The amount of blood loss on that side based
on a then pumping, heart is different from the other wounds
like the groin where it was done after the man was dead. The
ribs were ripped apart as if a strong animal had done them.
Z'leyra heads where Pyan detected the tracks and tries
to follow the path north.
Nearby away from Z'leyra some 75 feet, Pyan stands and
watches the new guy.
Pyan looks to the Dark haired man and holds his bow, not
really the weapon for the range but he doesn't want to look
threatening reaching for his dagger. "Who are you? What are
you doing here?" He says in his native Omavor then repeats it
in Marentian, then says something about The Who playing here
in Donara.
[Time: 8:51 am]
Arawn can see the man shivering as if his clothes are still
damp. This one unlike the red haired girl who seems dry as
can be. Maybe she was carried ashore and this one swam?
The man stares at Pyan.
(He has a slight smile on his lips that sparkles in his eyes
as he speaks, lowering his spear point to the ground in a
less threatening manner) [Mournath speaks at first in
Marentian, then Zen'dali and Bhamoti if it does not appear
that he is being understood] "Truce, friend. I mean no
harm to you or your own. I find myself ship-wrecked and ill
prepared for this land about me, and would count it as a
blessing to not have to bloody my spear this day. I know not
where I find myself, perhaps you can help with that? [speaking
to the man in front of him]. Further, have you ran across any
others in my particular situation along this stretch of land?
I've a Captain of a certain ship that I have a score to settle
with."
Arawn approaches and makes himself visible and raises his
hands as the startled man looks back of his shoulder. Then
Pyan speaks and on the second language - Marentian - the man
seems to turn and Arawn sees a glimpse of recognition.
Arawn determines the man knows Marentian as if he can
recognize Pyan's words. "Hello friend. You are freezing. Let
me help you. If you don't mind I have a spell that can help
get you warm. Do you agree?"
The man turns to face Arawn and looks puzzled but he is
very cold having swam to shore and his clothes are still
wet. Why are Marentians doing here this far north? But
the man seems to feel confidence in the strange man in front
of him and nods.
Arawn nods and places hands on his chest and speaks the
magical words for the warmth spell. In seconds the man
feels warm as if he is wearing 3 dry new layers of clothing
over his present clothing. His body itself seems to have
warmed up several degrees. The man stops shivering.
[Time: 8:52 am]
Z'leyra is not a expert tracker but the blood stains and
fur as well as bent limbs seem to indicate a easy trail.
The trail goes north and then Z'leyra finds Pyan. She moves
in that direction and is surprised to see a new guy. But he
does not seem to have Kameran features. Arawn is standing
nearby. She looks back to where she came and figures this
man must be part of the boat the girl is from? She wonders
how many others are around.
Arawn asks the man to meet the others before he explains
who he is. The man notices Z'leyra now and Arawn directs
them back to the group of horses in the east.
Z'leyra nods to Pyan to help track the beast. Both
move south toward the river some 50 feet away and the trial
ends at the water. Pyan still feels it is a large bear.
Z'leyra finds no more trail but this is where Pyan's skill
kicks in and he finds another set of tracks from this time
a distinct bear in the mud. This time the tracks lead
west down the shore of the river.
Z'leyra calls for Corona and asks him to go see if the
bear is around and if other survivors might be around. Then
she and Pyan return to the group.
[Time: 8:53 am]
This is when Mae and Lucria head where Z'leyra and Fuk
went. They find the dead half eating man but no one
else around except Fuk looking around.
Mae stops at the body and regards it, only a momentary hint
of sadness crosses her face before she shakes her head, with
the memory of the human standing over her with a knife. She
almost stumbles as she takes a careful step over a root.
Ths is when Arawn and the new man appears. Followed by
Pyan and Z'leyra. The man looks around at this large gorup
and with horses? Horses this far north? Where are these
people from?
Then the man seems to recognize the dead man and then
regards Mae with a keen smile.
Kell smiles as we have another spear wielder. Finally! He
grins and says to his friend Kiet, "See. Another with good
taste in weapons!" In good fun with Kiet.
Then Kell hears the man speak Marentian with Arawn on being
warm despite his clothing looks wet.
Kell then looks the man over. He does look Marentian...
"Where are you from in Marentia? This is very far from home
and not a safe place to travel alone. I am Ha'Kell a trader
of some or none renown. Welcome. Most of this fine group at
least know Marentia if not live there."
"What do we call you?" Kell adds to his questions.
Arawn repeats what the man said back to Pyan including his
name and where he is from to everyone.
Maelorna looks at the sailor and smiles, glad that another
had survived the trip. She looks at her pack, "I can share
what I have. Granted it's not as good as the fare at an
inn, but perhaps it might suffice to keep you full for a
day?" as she slips it about and pulls out a day's ration of
hard tack and salted pork and holds it out.
Kell offers food as well. "We do have food and i am willing
to share. We also hunt as we travel. Care to join us? We
are going straight into Kamera on a journey of some importance."
He looks and Fuk an Z'Leya and the others, not sure how much to
say right now.
Fuk crosses his arms and stares at the new man. "So you
were part of this ship? Who is this man?" He points to the
half eaten captain. "Where there others on your ship or raft
or whatever you were on?" He asks with curious eyes but seems
confused to see two Marentian speaking people this far north.
Seeing the new person Z'leyra raises an eyebrow, looks around
and asks, "Any others?" Looking back at him she invites him
"Welcome to our group, we are going into the Kameran if you are
interested. You mentioned some other captain?" SHe looks down at
the dead man. She continues, "...is pretty ripped up but may
have been the one you seek. Try not to bring whatever ripped
him up back to the group with you."
Fuk leans over to Lucria and whispers so not to be heard.
"What are chances of two here now?"
Lucria nods, "could one of these be our disguise artist
killer?"
Fuk shrugs, "we'll need to keep our eye on them both."
Z'leyra explains now that they have two more riding will
be harder not to mention riding in thick forest will be very
difficult. Lucria offers to have the girl ride with him but
he is ignored. Z'leyra decides she will just walk the rest
of the way as a group for safety and protection. She will
not fly over and walk leading the group into the Kameran lands.
Z'leyra does the introductions for both new people and the
old ones.
Kell offers to ride in the line wherever is best He has one
of the fastest horses in the party, and best to use what we
have. Then he hears that it is walking and nods. But he can
still ride just in a slower manner.
Unless the forest is too dense for riding. Then he will take
a flanking positon. Keeping an eye out for any ebony trees
too. Not expecting to find any here.
Sadly Kell is not a forester. Maybe Pyan is and he can
catch more game?
Actions? Comments?
Next Update..Monday??
GM: A short update which only covers all the stuff you guys
posted. Nothing new. But with only 45 min left to finish
this update I don't have time to add new stuff since I
started this late today. It is better than delaying
till Monday. :) I'll work on next update either Saturday
or Monday afternoon (I'm off Monday so will start early
afternoon if things go well).
Next update I'll camp folks for night Folks will get
together and share things. Then move into the hills
barring any encounters I've not rolled yet.
GM: Necklace Use
Feb 4 - Z'leyra Dwarven
Feb 5 - Kell Kameran
Keep in mind schedule below. Party should be at destination

that makes the GM happy? :)
I'll email you guys later this weekeend on how I'd like to
see it done. Thanks.
