[Recap]
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra is not the most experienced survivalist in the
prairie, but she does remember being taught the basics. Water
being VERY important, finding it is one of those basics.
Beyond the occasional lake or pond that we may come across
(helpful to have aerial surveillance), rivers and streams
come from springs that meander downslope and come together to
form larger streams and rivers. Unless you are in a desert or
traveling parallel to these water flows you should come across
streams fairly regularly. Sometimes the streambed will be dry.
By digging down a few feet in the deepest part of the streambed
you may find water that if you wait for it to settle or filter
will be fine for drinking.
Without aerial reconnoitering one could head to the highest
point to look for streams and their starting points. Either way
one can follow animal trails and tracks to see where they get
their water.
GM: Ack. Searching for water can dramtically decrease travel
time for a few miles for sure. Can search and ride but
its not always that simple. Not sure how regular a stream
is really in this case. Maybe semi regular but not that
often in my statistical analysis (via web). It seems most
can see 12 miles but generally 9 miles. So in case I know
the weather when I do water checks I'll assume 9 miles. If
its bright and sunny maybe 12. But that's only 60% of any
hex. So still chance of missing water sources. Above is
good for overview but not sop per se aside form 'look' for
water sources which is obvious. :)
From Unali: [Re: Actions]
After the battle Unali aks Z'leyra to inspect her wounds and
dress them. If she offers a healing she gladly accepts that.
She is a bit nervous given the sharp, bright red nails that
slashed her and the genrally unknown nature of the creatures
that attcked, so if Z'leyra or someone else can verify that her
wounds are not infected or poisoned that would be good.
GM: Ack.
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra examines Unali's wounds then makes, using the bezoar
and brass goblet, and gives her a preventive anti-poison
potion. The wounds are treated then Z'leyra will cast the
spell(s) for healing the wounds.
If she knows Mist Powers well enough yet (EL0), she will use
Healing Mist, if not she will use shamanic healing by casting
Orient Self EL0 then a Max EL Healing spell.
GM: Ack. Technically potion is considered a magical healing. :)
From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
Dorhak finally gets up but seems late to the party. He was...
"What are these things?"
GM: Ack.
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
In general Z'leyra will lead the party west north west across
the plains, going from village to village asking for directions
to the next village in that direction and where safe water
sources are in between. In the air she will scout for water as
well as for potential dangers.
Some of the time she will practice acrobatics and hunting with
Corona.
GM: Ack. Ahh. Ask for directions. Ack. Hunting for food?
Hunting will take time from flying.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Not a lot of time at the moment to go over other options
right now but thought I'd post a quick reply for now.
1. Arawn does have access to Forest Powers (Water Detection)
and a bracelet with that ability. On days when a water source
doesn't seem apparent he'll start by casting Water Detection at
max EL (2 mile radius / 4 mile diameter) after breaking camp.
If nothing is found then he'll wait until the party has traveled
5-10 miles that day and use the Bracelet to cast the spels (8
mile radius / 16 mile diameter). Between the two ranges that
should cover most of the party's travel range for the day.
2. If no water is found and this means is deemed acceptable
for the purpose of watering the horses/party he'll cast Ball
Power (Other) to create a 10-foot diameter sphere of water for
them to drink/collect from. If necessary permanency followed
by a dispel is an option, just let me know if it is.
3. If it rains or if No. 2 isn't acceptable then he'll use the
rain collecting tarp. He'll expand it's size through
Transmutation, doubling it for the duration of water collection.
He'll make sure that a hole is dug, crafting a large trough
through Transmutation if necessary and then follow this with
Tempest spells at max EL to collect drinking water.
GM: Ack. Thanks for Sop so noted. The 2 mile spell might be
useless as aerial recon would find that. So may want
to avoid that. The bracelet thing is better though.
Every 5=10 miles depends on use per day. Wow. Ball Power
is a nifty spell! I think I invented it from D2/Amazon
spells. That spell of water is useful! I'll have to
Cool sop! Now I got to figure out some math like volume
of that sphere in quarts and how much a tempest does in
quarts on average for random factors. Math who said it would
not be used after school.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
If Z'leyra plans on flying for most the journey and would
like to use the Bracelet of Water Detection Arawn would be
glad to hand it over to her until the party's safely accross
the plains.
GM: Ack. Gee a simple name? Nothing fancy like Elric or
Stormbringer or Life Sword? Just water detection bracelet :)
From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
I don't know if I added an SOP for the dwarf, but if..
"What are these shoggers?"
GM: Ack.
From Z'leyra: [Re: Healing]
Just about to cast the healing, Z'leyra remembers that two
healings, including a magic potion, per day can be dangerous.
So she says she will rebind the wounds and then cast the
healing in the morning.
GM: Ack. After I reminded you in chat - Healer's Creed - Forgot
basic healing rule. :) j/k

[New Stuff]
[Janaq 18th, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Central Plains]
[Time: 4:49:13 am]
Kiet glances over at Fuk and moves toward him. Getting
closer he whispers to the man. The man shakes grit
and dirt from his clothing and glances north to the fleeing
yellow owl.
Dorhak finally gets up but seems late to the party. He was
hoping to get some action. But all that has happened is his
sleep has been interrupted.
Dorhak looks over the corpses. They look awful! And smell
worse!
"What are these things?"
"What are these shoggers?"
Arawn leans over the two corpses and tries to
examine them in the campfire light.
Pyan glances over at the fleeing yellow owl but
sees it fade from sight. It seems no one cared to
fire or chase it. Pyan even notices Fremea ignoring
the owl. No order was given to fire on it so Pyan shrugs
and joins the others to examine the bodies.
Z'leyra examines Unali briefly and know the
wounds are not fatal. But could cause scars.
She gestures to a nearby tent so they can have some
privacy so her chest wound can be treated. As they
move Unali gasps again and feels weaker.
As Fuk walks with Kiet he shakes his head, "no clue
what they were. But they were either stupid or insane.
They wanted to just hit me like running against a wall."
Arawn looks up at that and asks if they tried to hurt
when they rammed the constable.
Fuk shakes his head, "no attack just stupid dog."
Arawn and Z'leyra hear this and can assume the creatures
were trying to possess or enter Fuk. They are quietly
impressed that Fuk deflected such attack. Most mundane
humans are too weak to avoid such attacks. Maybe Fuk's
magical defense is better than average?
Z'leyra helps the weakened Unali inside Arawn's tent.
Kiet notices how Unali sagged either from blood loss
or something. But red means on some creatures danger
so he quietly casts a spell directed at the dog's
red nails. He nods and then moves toward Arawn's
tent. He leans down and opens it to explain the nails
are poisoned. As he does this he notices Unali's
shirt off and exposed chest. Kiet gulps and closes
the tent flap and continues his warning.
As Kiet walks away he hears the women giggle a bit.
Arawn examines the corpses but has no clue what
these things are. He has never seen them before.
So has the others.
Inside the tent, Z'leyra can tell Unali is getting
weaker. She stops the bleeding but then rushes to
get her bezoar and goblet out. She creates a potion
for her to drink and cure the poison. Unali drinks the
foul brown muddy drink and waits. Z'leyra then cleans
and treats her face and chest wound.
Fuk looks around, "one got away. That way to the north.
We'll better keep another watch till sunrise. Personally
these things were stupid. One thing to attack two of us
me and Kiet. But once others showed up why stay? Course
one did flee but maybe they were insane? What's with
the color? Where is Lucria?"
Fuk then hears snoring and shakes his head the man
could sleep through a tornado with a cow landing on his
head!
Z'leyra treats Unali's wound and explains another
healing could risk things. Unali knows she can stand
a second or even third based on past times. But she
is fine with healing in the next few hours which would
only be a 2 hour or so wait. She doesn't understand why
sunrise is considered 'morning' for healing purposes
while morning for most are even before sunrise?
[Time: 5:42 am]
Almost an hour later the party for the most part stayed
awake. Lucria and Fuk did go back to their tent to
sleep or sleep more in case of Lucria. Since most are
already up the camp is broken up ahead of time.
[Time: 6:18 am]
Sunrise sees the camp all broken up except for
Lucria's tent. Z'leyra and Unaii sit inside and
Z'leyra casts a healing mist spell. Arawn watches
to ensure the method is correct.
As Unali lays in a magical coma the green mist fills
the tent.
"Hey! Will that make it soggy? I got to sleep there."
Luccria asks.
Arawn shakes his head the mist is mostly magical so it
isn't actually "wet."
It takes 2.5 minutes for Unali's wounds to clear up
fully. Z'leyra figures Unali has a 10% chance of scars
but when she unwraps the bandages she smiles and finds
no scars on her chest or cheek.
Unali exits the tent and still feels week from the
loss of energy from the poison but at least physically
she is fine.
[Time: 6:23 am]
The party heads out to the north west. The day is cloudy
with only a blur for the sun is seen all day. The temperatures
range from 57 but does warm up to 77 with a nice warm front
from the south.
[Time: 11:18 am]
Z'leyra and Corona spot a village to the east about
three miles away. They divert that way and soar over
the village of maybe 75. The Zen'da are awake and stirring.
They do seem to notice the party but for now no warriors
are dispatched. Z'leyra knows for the most part food
is good but water is needed. But on the ground the only
source of water is a large puddle. It might give the
horses some liquid but its too small and would probably
take the village's water away. So she and Corona head
back just as 5 warriors are riding toward the party.
[Time: 11:26 am]
The warriors arrive and Arawn shows the guest pass
items given by Cetric. He asks about water but they
confirm what Z'leyra found. Most of the village only
ride north to the river once a week so they do not need
the water at this point.
Z'leyra signals to move on and the party departs the
area with the warriors watching.
[Time: 3:21 pm]
A wind storm blows from the west right into the face
of the party. This forces some to wear clothes or face
wraps to avoid the dust and dirt. The storm lasts a bit
over half an hour. It does cause the horses to slow down
as they are disoriented a bit. But not that much.
Dorhak is hit by a gust of strong wrong directly into his
face and is thrown backwards off the horse. The dwarf
yelps in shock and dismay as he tumbles behind the horse.
The party stops to help but the dwarf stands and kicks
a lump of dirt which blows back into his face and beard
making him cuss in a fashion no one has heard before. Kiet
realizes those are good dwarf profanity and tries to
remember them.
Dorhak is unhurt but a few minor bruises and hurt
pride. He glares at the horse and realize the horse
could've not prevented it. He circles the horse in
a huff and finds ants in his beard! He grunts and
removes them and then is helped back onto the horse.
The need to move is more eager with that eagle for some
reason. Arawn and Unali ride along side and help to
ensure the dwarf remains on the horse until the storm
ends.
[Time: 6:38 pm]
The party makes camp about 20 minutes before but at
this point another wind storm blows through. This
causes tents to collapse and float away in the wind.
This causes a mad dash to chase tent and gear that
are blown away. This one lasts another 30 minutes.
The dwarf looks at the others with wrinkled clothing
and hair laughing a bit. Z'leyra looks like she was
shocked by a lightning strike with hair all frazzled
and Unali looks like she was scared by a ghost. But
the Faerry her hair is fine. How did she survive that?
Dorhak squints and wonders about that small one.

[Janaq 19th, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Central Plains]
[Time: 6:58 am]
The temperature drops drastically today as the entire
day is overcast. The warm clothing has to be layered on all
day as the temperature goes down to the teens and as warm only
as 62 at one point.
[Time: 8:44 am]
It starts to snow at this point. But it is a light sprinkle
only lasting 5 minutes. Not even enough time to get
water collection items setup.
[Time: 12:37 pm]
As the party ends lunch and prepares to leave again
it begins to do a cold drizzle. It lasts for a bit over
half a hour. Some water is collected but its not enough
to even put in a mug. But it does cause the party to get
tired and wet for the rest of the day.
[Time: 4:38 pm]
The party finds a large puddle already being used by birds
and at least one rabbit. The horses drink from it
to give them some refreshment. It is not a great deal
of water but enough to hold them for now
[Time: 5:31 pm]
No village has been seen yet today. But as the party
rides on it begins to snow again. This time it snows for
41 or so minutes. But it is only a couple of inches at
most so its not heavy.
As the sun sets the party makes camp even as it continues
to snow. The tents are not put up for some time as the
ground is messy. The tarp for the horses are Kiet's personal
horse tarp is made to cover them from the snow.
Finally the party sets up the tents and tries to collect
firewood. But most collected things are wet so it takes
time with flint and such to create a fire and it takes
a good 45 minutes before it starts to flare up and warms
the party.
-------------
[Janaq 20th, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Central Plains]
[Time: 6:41 am]
As the sun rises the overcast breaks to cloudy skies
day but at least its not dreary overcast. It does warm
up a bit though with a range of 54 to 72 degrees. Some
do not understand how the plains shift so much but then
Arawn explains its atmospheric currents with the mountains
on the edge of the plains. As those who listen they roll
their eyes and pretend to find it interesting. But Kiet
watches the skies and knows that maybe those cloud elementals
he knows have nasty tempers.
[Time: 9:09 am]
A thick fog rolls in from the north causes the party to
slow down so not to ride over obstacles and dangers. It lasts
for about 37 minutes before it fades.
[Time: 12:24 pm]
The party has stopped to eat a nice slew of rations and
sidh biscuits for tasty lunch - well maybe at least its
food. Dorhak is standing talking about some battle he
had with some creature when suddenly hail begins to fall
to the ground.
A stone hits Dorhak and causes him to pump his fist
and cuss the sky as the head hurts from the stone.
The hail stones are marble sized only but lasts about 18 or
so minutes. This delays the party leaving until it is over.
[Time: 2:49 pm]
This time a wind storm comes from the south west but only
lasts about 13 minutes. This time Dorhak wraps reigns and
ropes around his hands tight as he clamps down hard on the
horse with his legs. Arawn helps to ensure he doesn't fall
this time.
[Time: 5:55 pm]
Camp is made and this time the fire materials are easier
to find that are dry or at least semi dry.
-------------
[Janaq 21st, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Central Plains]
[Time: 6:41 am]
The day starts out great as the clouds part and in fact
all day it is bright and sunny. The temperatures range from
59 to 74 so its not that bone cold.
[Time: 4:36 pm]
At this point no villages have been seen.
Suddenly the horses begin a bit nervous and begin to
whine and did get as they stop moving normally. Looking
around the party sees the ground near them is shifting
like under wind. But there is no wind. Unali draws her
dagger and gets a flash in her mind. She yells to Kell
just as the ground near him erupts upwards.
A large pale white worm lunges out toward Kell's horse.
But the horse is a well trained mount and moves away just
as the creature attacks.
From the air Fremea, Z'leyra and Corona see the attack.
From below those who were in Donara realize what this is.
A earth eater the same that attacked and ate Raban. He
was swallowed whole but his bulk and strength saved him.
Fuk and Lucria ride forward knowing the worm is too slow
to give chase. But the others wonder if this could find
a village and kill folks.
The worm writhes as it fails to swallow Kell and
tries to decide who to go for next.
Actions? Comments?
Next Update..Friday???
GM: A good place to stop for now. For those who weren't
in Donara (Dorhak) may not know the eater. I think
Pyan was there right? The party can just ride off
and leave the creature or try to take it out to save
some poor village. Up to you guys.
The eater is slow but can submerge and try another attack
with a bit more random (ie hard to determine) location.
I don't think a map is needed but if so let me know/
The party is dispersed around it within 20-25 feet
so all are close by the creature.
I will work on update Thursday afternoon (noon est).
If I get order to attack then may start sooner like
Wednesday to build charts and such as it takes time
for combat. If party moves on then I'll move party
to the next location/event.
GM: Water is solved. Arawn that Ball Power spell I read
and its nifty! A enclosed sphere of whatever you want.
In this case water. Using google for a 5 foot (not
10 as you say) it is 1958 quarts! I think that's
plenty for the horses for days. Seems high but this
is based on google's volume calculators. So Arawn
the tempest and water collection seems way too useless
at this point. Those things like tempest would only
be about a inch at most for a tempest spell and not much
from other sources. So horses can live without water
for up to 3 days. They need only 20-40 quarts per day.
I assume a trench using the tarp as the water surface
and letting the ball stop and water splashes down is
the sop? So my question is now how many times cast it?
Every other day or every 3 days? Let me know and I
can work up the numbers. Tarped water would not be
so wise for folks so I'll assume this just for horses.
But if not let me know. But this alone could solve
all water issues. I may tweak this later to say it
can only be cast with clouds (ie water sources). I'll
have to consider this later. But now its a solution.
GM: Arawn - You as player may know the yellow dogs but not
as Arawn. So what do you say on the spell above?
Still use the other things like tempest or would that
seem too inefficient now at seeing the output? :)
Kell - Worm only a few feet away from you.
Z'leyra - If given order to move on or attack will need
to use Eagle voice or change. But others like
Arawn may just decide to attack.
GM: Will update player map for last area move to. See website
for Zen'da map.
