[Recap]
From Unali: [Re: Actions]
Not looking forward to another disturbed night and ...
Depending on the distance she jumps from her horse and draws
a second dagger or charges nearer and then attacks with her
magical dagger only (needing the other to control her horse).
Charging if possible is preferred.
She aims to kill the beast as quickly as possible.
GM: Ack.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Arawn had been so engrossed studying the fallen foes...
[ooc: meant to chase after it but got caught up with
too much RL stuff and forgot. Gagh!]
[Detect Evil followed by Eternal Eye (the latter with
permission from Unali, Fuk, and Kiet (and anyone else involved
that I failed to see when reading the post) ].
Ball Power:
I'm good with using the this method when natural sources of
water can'to be found! As for the tarp, he can use that when
there's a natural downpour.
Earth Eater:
Though not actively hating such a monstrosity Arawn knew ...
[If he's close enough to cast Dispersion (max EL) on the
Earth-Eater he'll do so, allowing Corsaya to guide herself away
after. If he's not close enough to target the Earth-Eater but
is close enough to target Unali with a Luck spell (max EL, using
Sidh Tongue to boost) after giving her the signal he's casting
it, calling out, "Gods' luck to you!".
If the fight continues after this he'll cast Flight (via
Elemental Powers) and have Corsaya keep her distance from the
creature. He'll then circle above the Earth-Eater, out of it's
melee range, and continue using the Dispersion spell (max EL).
If the Earth-Eater goes back into the ground he'll cast
God's Eye (max EL) to see through the earth and help to alert
the party to its location (flying close to the ground if
already in the air so as to have more range to see through the
ground).
If it begins to target him / Corsaya he'll cast Repel Evil
(max EL).
When possible he'll have Corsaya keep her distance to avoid
the risk of being swallowed whole.]
GM: Ack. Detect Evil is a bit vague. I mean what is evil?
Is it that black/white? For a bad guy he feels he
is doing good so to him he's good. So detecting evil
is a bit vague. I'll allow it this time but the spell
may just fail in future as too subjective. Remember I
still offer that 'break' until you get to Kameran you
still not taken it. :) Anyways. Clues on your retrospective
abound :) As to tarp I've run the numbers. For a tempest
storm or even a simple rain it isn't enough to drink that
much from. The single ball power is enough to feed horses
for 3 days. A thimble of water to a small pool of water. :)
Just need to know how often 1-3 days since horses can live
3 days without water. Remember pnp is not like movies where
you can give long speeches in combat. Giving even a simple
warning above takes a phase out of other verbal actions (ie
spell casting). So basically Ph 1 Dispersion, 2 Warning
to Unali on Luck 3-Luck 4-Elemental Power 5-Flight 6-
Dispersion. So right there that's 6 tied up actions. Enough
for 3 updates. :) But good detailed actions.
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Telling Corona to use ranged attack and to keep out of biting
range of the monster Z'leyra will fly down next to her horse,
change back to human telling the horse to hold still while she
grabs and puts on her necklace and rings then her helm and
staff, then tells the horse to keep its distance from the
monster.
She then will use Fire Darts thru her helm on the creature
if it is in range.
GM; Ack.
From Kell: [Re: Actions]
[First things first. That darned wurm. Or is it wyrm? Or
Worm? Any way here we go...]Ha'Kell thinks back to Raban and
how the big guy just gave it indigestion... Ha'Kell can't do
that. Ha'Kell has to use more guile and speed and luck, he
starts by using his legs to control "______" [I need a good
name for his new excellent horse], and grasps his spear.
Knowing how much damage these can take the handsome half-elf
decides to charge and stab it, using the best magical spear for
the job. Hefting the spear and his ebony shield, Kell makes his
decision very quickly. He guides the horse, ecstatic at having
an excellent war horse that can work and handle things by itself
when necessary, and charges with his magical spear, activating
the electric charge by touching the gem if he hits it. [Kell
uses all his skills to hit the darn beast. Horsemanship and
spear. He'll charge the worm as best as possible to increase
any damage. If he hits, he activates the jolt for the extra
2d6 of damage. This is the spear with -6 to hit, +3 wsb, and
electric. ][Phase 1 is charging and stabbing. If it dies,
awesome and amazing. Phase 2 will be another stab. If the worn
tries to submerge he'll throw the spear at the worm trying to
kill it. Depends on how things look after that.]
GM: Ack. Your two posts didn't come to me on the mailing list
so I'm glad I checked the list archives and saw them. :)
From Kell: [Re: Actions]
[Ball Powers] Using Ball powers to create water where
necessary is an excellent idea! Kell was thinking of summoning
an elemental to search for water, but that is always a bit
chancey. Sadly Kell's main affinity is with Earth and not
Water. He ponders things. Hearing about Arawn's plan for a
Water Ball makes him much more comfortable, knowing there will
be enough water."I can summon an elemental to create a
permanent holding area for the water. Say 10 feet long and
6 across and 3 deep. We can adjust the size to make it bigger
to contain all the water, so not only can we use but when it
rains this will collect the rain, and others may benefit from
them."Kell will do his part to hunt and find food along the
way. Knowing his horse is faster than most except Arawn's,
he can scout for water too and range to the sides...........
[More for the Earth Eater.] If the beast goes underground,
Ha'Kell will hop off his horse and begin his Summoning series
of spells. Earth Eaters live under the ground, and happily
Ha'kell's favorite elemental is right at home underground.
[ Elemental Powers at Max EL to attune to Earth. Then
begin summing 1 Earth Elemental, using the mana from his
wand for all of these. ]
GM: Ack. Will need to argue/convince the elemental to fight
for you.
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet sees some of the others begin to get ready to rumble...
GM: Ack.
From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
Dorhak is on a horse. He doesn't even like being there...
GM: Ack.
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
<ooc: I apologize for not posting for a while. Been very
busy with life and WoW>
Fremea has been contemplating why she is the chosen...
casts Fire arrow (max EL) and begins shooting at it.
GM: Ack. Yeah I see you in WOW. But I know your super busy so
do need that freedom as well.
From David: [Re: Location]
David's in Oregon
GM: Ack. So you talk 3rd person all the time? :) I thought
you were in Denver with Tobie. Oh well.
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
OOC: I don't know if anybody answered Kevin's question about
what the yellow creatures were, but I think they were
Rakshashas...chaos creatures.
GM: Ack. Correct. Since I finished the v2 encounter tables
awhile I've used them. Since v1 old monsters we've seen
them all just about. So this will add tons new things
you guys may not know. :) So a bit of variety.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
I didn't see the question but, yeah, I realized it. Too bad
Arawn doesn't recognize them though. But he plans on digging
into it at some point. Kotothi creatures and rakshasas... the
Zen'da plains sure seem pretty dangerous. Wonder if any of
it's linked to a bigger picture.
GM: Ack. Bigger picture that's me! Now that you give me ideas..
From Kell: [Re: Monsters]
I didn't even look it up. This is one case where Kell doesn't
know the beastie, so I won't go looking at the books to read
about them. It is fun, but in some ways takes away from the
game, for me. Now know about the possible bad things can be
good. In some cases. Just happy we have good anti-poison in
the group! :)
GM: Ack. I agree knowing about everything like creatures is a bit
boring. I like to be surprised on things. I've been in so
many games "oh..goblins..<yawn>..."
From Tobie: [Re: Actions]
I can always drive you back, though not sure there will be
much left if you are blown that far out
GM: Ack. :) Thanks for the support.

[New Stuff]
[Janaq 15th, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Central Plains]
[Time: couple hours before sunrise - Dog combat]
Arawn had been so engrossed studying the fallen foes that he
had missed the third flapping itself to freedom. By the time
he was aware of it, it was too late, the druid releasing a
discontented sigh, mainly at himself for having missed out on
the chase.
Hoping that others in the area would not fall victim to the
evil spirits he said a quiet but solemn prayer that the gods
would bless another to end its days before it could harm again.
With that done he collected a portion from them, hair, teeth,
and carefully collected nail clippings. After committing the
creatures forms to memory he dragged them aside to purify them
through fire, if and when others were done with them.
Looking to those that had interacted with the foul spirits
he spoke an ancient prayer to sense for any lingering effect
[Time: 6:22 am]
When he was done he looked out to the rising sun with a
worried look on his face. With false faces, lies and half-truths
abounding on this quest he wondered, were these shape-shifters
part of a greater problem and linked to past events?
As the party ride they share what monsters they have encountered
before. All seem to conclude none have seen those creatures
before. It will be another month probably when the party returns
to Sivas and discover their name based on Kaylle's research.
Called Rakshaha of Green, Blue and the yellow types seen.
Religious leaders and scholars believe their god was killed
during the Great God Wars. So it is unknown who created them
or were worshiped by them. Later is learned that indeed they
can try to possess a being. But mostly they stick to themselves
looking for food and being playful like Faerry. Indeed their
red nails were known t be poisoned with a slow death style
toxin. If Unali hadn't been so tough she might not have made
it as most humans don't last long under the poison. But until
the party returns to Sivas it is a mystery.
Arawn asks Unali, Kiet and Fuk to cast magic on them. First
to detect evil's presence. Just so that no possession
could have occurred. The next spell would allow him using his
priest skills to figure out any such influence over them
by the yellow creatures or the spirits controlled by the gods.
Fuk shrugs and Unali agrees to the spell. But no evil
is detected. Arawn also finds this of good use in that
for Unali's curse he should be able to confirm any such
lingering effects. But when the priestly spell is cast
no such influence is on them.
[Janaq 18th, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Central Plains]
[Sunrise]
Today Unali feels fully refreshed from the yellow dog
attack 3 days ago. The poison's effects on her overall
energy level has been fully healed.
Fremea has been contemplating why she is the chosen one, or
at least one of them. Her mind has her distracted about what
she is supposed to be doing. She just keeps thinking back to
what Varange told her and then tries to block it out, only
thinking about her parents, kids and the party. She scouts
ahead, looking for signs of trouble before it reaches the
party, especially after the snake. But somehow she missed the
Griffins coming in at them. She knows she should have taken
feathers and other stuff from those beasts, but she was just
tired. Then there is the matter of this new short person,
though not a human.
Fremea regrets not finding the griffins before they got
there but they used the rising sun to block their approach.
The sun that blinds her so well naturally. Hovering she
watches the dwarf for days. Why can't someone so low to the
ground ride a simple horse? Then she notices Arawn doting
over him as he did her for a long time. Did the druid find
a new pet project?
Fremea is not so sure of this creature, she has never seen
one before. It does seem very hostile towards a lot of people,
so she just keeps an eye on him(?). It does look really funny
to see him on Z's horse though.
The yellow creature escaped her, she was going to chase after
it, but saw how badly injured Unali was and lost interest. It
seems most of them didn't care that the other one got away.
She just didn't have the heart to give chase right now. Too
much on her mind.
She is happy to be flying though, no more hiding right now.
The new funny looking, short creature on a horse keeps looking
her once in awhile. It is disturbing. Since, they are all
traveling together, she does not practice with her item, but
she does keep learning more about finds herbs. Out here in
the cold and wet, it is hard, but hopefully she will find
something useful.

[Janaq 21st, 1635TH]
[Zen'da Central Plains]
[Time: 4:36 pm]
Though not actively hating such a monstrosity Arawn knew
the danger the earth-eater posed to those in the area, driven
by Laboth to eternal hunger. Much like Unali he leapt into
action before it could escape to surprise another. Trusting
Corsaya to keep her distance he called upon the power of father
and mother, called upon the Ladies and Lords of the Sidh to deal
with a traditional foe.
Unali sits on her relieved that the trader is not a
light snack for the worm. Last time when Raban was swallowed
he was relieving himself apart from the camp in Donara. It was
dark so it was hard to see the creature. But now in full
light of day the pale worm looks more slug like than fierce
monster. The massive mouth is large enough to swallow some
small sailboats whole with masts including. The pale sickly
skin is a mass of oozing pus like tissue that seems to give
the worm locomotion. It has no eyes as it senses its prey
by vibrations and movement. A large force of horses like
the party could weigh many tons so would attract the worm
to the surface easily. It doesn't seem to have any teeth
but more whale like films to filter possibly sand and
grit from most of its gut. Right now the creature that
is very much like a worm but not quite a worm, is up
above ground about 15 feet looming over the entire group.
Unali's warning by the dagger was almost made vocal
but the attack was so fast it did not come out. Lucky
for the trader his horse is well trained. If it had been
a simple riding horse it and Kell might be deep in the
creature's insides.
Not looking forward to another disturbed night and expecting
to make camp nearby, Unali feels that the Earth Eater would be
an ongoing threat and should be eliminated. She remembers the
attack on Raban all too well.
Unali can tell the horses will actually hinder any combat
as they might be agile but are easy large targets to attack
and devour. She quickly dismounts using a side acrobatic
swing of her legs. She pulls her second dagger from her
belt and slaps the horse on the rear to allow it to escape.
One moment Dorhak is holding Z'leyra's horse reigns tighter
than Kell does his coin bag. The next the horses start to
get agitated. Dorhak wonders if he is doing this and thinks
on how he could fix this. Then to his left he sees Kell's
horse whine and move away quickly. Then a shadow falls onto
his arms. He looks up to see if it is a storm cloud then
feels a nasty odor hit his nose. The musk of sweat, bile
and old dirt. He wonders if he should've bathed at the
river. Then the horse begins to shake his head back and
forth agitated and nervous. Dorhak notices others looking
back as if something is coming and glances over his shoulder
and almost falls off the hose startled by the large worm
only 10 feet away looming twice as high as him!
Dorhak is on a horse. He doesn't even like being there. He
will do what he can to move the horse away from the big worm.
He's probably familiar with the worms, being an underground
dweller himself, but knows that he should avoid them! If he
has to fight, he will fall off his horse and have a go at it...
but only as a last resort. He doubts a mace will be very
effective
Dorhak kicks with passion on the horse to move it
forward. But the horse does not need help and moves
quickly away from the creature. The speed startles
Dorhak and causes him to stumble and fall off the horse.
Dorhak tumbles backwards and it is a good thing he is wearing
his helmet. As he looks up he notices a writhing mound of
flesh moving back and forth feet from his head and it
seems like it is moving his way. He yelps and gets to
his knee faster than a dwarf finding a great gold find.
He begins to run to the horse waving his arms back and
forth in a wild fashion.
Arawn pulls his shield and maintains control of the fay
horse. From the side he notices Unali dismount and draw her
daggers. Clearly she intends to fight. Arawn yells,
"Gods' luck to you!".
Corona circles high above watching the creature not knowing
what is or even if its attacking.
Z'leyra in eagle form lands in front of her fleeing horse
a few feet in front to intercept it. She then transforms
back into a human feeling the cold on her naked body. She
speaks to Corona to stay at range not to get close and
waves for her horse to approach to get her gear.
Toward the north west Fremea hears the noise behind her
and stops. Seeing the large creature emerge from the ground
she recall's Raban's attack. Only recalling the details given
by the others.
When the worm comes up out of the ground, she quickly grabs
her bow, She turns and flies toward the creature while
starting a spell casting.
At the exact same time Pyan, Fuk and Lucria's horses all
turn and flee the group moving away from the creature. The
Ticasi men have no clue what this thing is and needs time
to figure out things.
Kell is happy of his horse's training and whirls him
around. From his spear holster he draws one of his
magical spears. He pulls his shield and tries to guide
his horse toward the creature with his legs. Course it
means if the worm bumps him he will have no way to hold
on to the horse and hope to stay on it. The distance is
too close for a effective charge but he urges the horse
forward. But the horse maintains a solid charge and Kell
thrusts his spear at the creature's large bulk hitting
the beast doing 21 points of damage as sparks begin
to shoot out from the spear and encircle around it on
the fleshy mass in an area of 4 feet in diameter.
Kiet sees some of the others begin to get ready to rumble
with the worm. He can't believe it! He uses his own swear
words since he can't yet get much satisfaction using the
newcomer's (Dorhak) curses.
Kiet is ready to spit nails but rides over to the nearest of
Fuk, Arawn, or anyone hanging back, dismounts and heads over
toward the worm. His intent is to keep as far away as ring
range allows and use his rings to cast Smokeless Flame at the
worm.
Then Kiet sees his friend attack the creature before anyone
else. Sure he sees Unali in a stance about to charge. But
the trader is either insane or drunk again.
Standing with legs apart he raises his hands and triggers
his rings. One fails to trigger. But the other begins
to burn the creature from the inside out. The creature
takes 30 points of damage immediately
The worm screams as it begins to explode on fire inside.
Skin and tissue begin to rip in seams spreading up and
down in a zig zag fashion. Then all of a sudden it seems
to explode as the tissue just evaporates and explodes
outward sending spongy tissue in every direction.
A large chunk of burning flesh goes flying straight
for Z'leyra. It splatters her with wet and burning
tissue all over her body. At the same time Dorhak
is pushed to the ground as the bulk of the worm's
exposed area collapses just behind him where he was
just laying moments ago. Dorhak glances back and
is hit by burning flesh shrapnel causing his beard to
start to steam.
As pieces of flesh fall to the ground and the
sky the party stares at the bloody carnage They
see that Dorhak could've been killed if under the
bulk of the fallen creature. It only missed Kell
and his horse by inches causing dust to fly all over
Kell's body.
Unali stops in her stride and sees the creature
fall to the ground sad that she didn't even get
a chance to do anything.
The party begins to grin and watch as Dorhak tries
to douse the steaming mess in his beard all the
while cursing.
Kiet pulls both hands to his face and pretends
to blow like ending a candle while grinning.
Actions? Comments?
Next Update..Friday???
GM: Dang guys! If I knew it was that fast I'd do
this last week. Kell did 21 and Kiet did 30
which is enough in two blows. I need to beef
up my poor innocent monsters! Since horses
move faster those on horses moved faster than
those on ground thus Unali didn't get chance
to strike yet.
I will work on next update Thursday noon EST.
I will update food/water info when I hear back
on how often Ball powers are cast.
GM: Mana Report updated all except magical mana not
updated. But Kell's experience and health report.
GM: Kiet - Did you refuse the Detect Evil/Eternal Eye from
Arawn?
