OOC:
1. Unless someone comes up
with a better plan Arawn will cast Transmutation
on Barbosa to turn him into a small stone
figurine. He'll do so at EL 1, boosted with Sidh
Tongue and Empathy bonus to increase EL.
2. If no one else gathers the
arrows used to kill Velf Arawn will do so.
3. If at any time the trail is
lost or becomes uncertain Arawn will cast
Questing Sight at max EL to home in on the tome.

OOC: is this the type of terrain
he has survival skills in? if so he will study
the local wildlife more/ look for trails/old kills or other signs of
settlement. if not he we focus instead on trying to find the horse
GM: Ack. Good post. Good question
You have forest & hill survival and for this terrain those do helpyes.
From Pyan: [Re: Actions]
I think I forgot to mention it
in my last email but PYan focus his searching
towards the south as that seems to be where the animals are leading him.

[New Stuff]
[Ma 3rd, 1636TH]
[Time: ?:?? am Unknown]
Arawn, still kneeling beside Barbosa,
looked up to scan the area before addressing the group.
"We've got to keep on moving - the
tome has to be reclaimed." He looked back down
toward the unconscious dwarf. "I can transform
him into a figurine for now. That should keep him
safe while we continue the hunt."
Deep down though Arawn wonders if the
trauma already given to Barbosa would be more harsh if transmuted then back?
He looked over towards where Pyan
seemed to be scanning for tracks. "Anything?"
Before casting Akasha Z'leyra will
use her healing skills and offer healing spells
for those that want it. She suggests, "If anyone
has the proper tracking spell they can use the
arrow to track the one that shot it. I know the
theory and have been taught the basics of that
spell but have never actually cast it yet. If no
one is better at it I shall try after I do the Akashic Reading."
Still looking at his kin, Barbosa,
Dorhak says, "Everyone who wants or needs it heal
up now. If anybody knows how to follow our
horseman let us all know. For that matter, if you know where we are speak up!"
He walks over to the Kotothi slime
and spits on it. Then goes back over to
Arawn. "We wont have time to heal him up
today. Disgusting as it is, I say go ahead and
change him. He will travel more easily that way."
Barbosa will never be able to live
this down. Its worse than being saved by Besamar.
Kiet goes over to Raddok and hands
him his dagger from a sheath on his shield. Hilt
first. He explains to him how to activate its
healing power and vibrations, including warnings
not to stop the vibrations. He, of course, retrieves it after use.
Kiet also decides its time to figure
out where they are. He begins casting spells
beginning with Elemental Aerial Powers at maximum
EL, seeking a pact with the air.
Raddok uses Kiet's healing knife as
ordered, and is very careful to follow his
directions. He sits down to use it, and is glad
he did, as between concentrating on keeping the
vibrations going, the initial sting, then the
healing heat through his shoulder area causes him
to loose the shield in reflex, and it falls over
his hip as he sits cross-legged on the ground.
Within in very short time, he feels his strength
return, the residual pain vanish, and his faint
dizziness to disappear. He feels totally healed.
He gets to his feet, picking up his
shield and mace, & returns the knife to Kiet
promptly, glad Kiet has it to share, but also
glad he himself needn't hang onto such a valuable
item (that's also a bit strange to handle).
Feeling much more alert now, he is
prepared for travel, whichever way they decide to
go. He overhears about Barbosa's improvement and
about changing him - into a statue? Raddok is
once again glad he is among such experienced
adventurers, and that they seek to right wrongs,
not use their various powers to wield power over others.
Arawn glanced at the arrows pulled from
Velf's body. "That's what those are for. If Pyan
or myself lose the trail I can use a tracking spell through the arrows."
Arawn glanced at the arrows pulled
from Velf's body. "That's what those are for. If
Pyan or myself lose the trail I can use a tracking spell through the arrows."
Pyan says that the stars tell him
they are to the far east and south oh his home
lands and about the signs of the horse and rider
he found, telling them how the rider was probably
for a people who valued worthless jewelry as that
sums the difference between civilized and the
more savage people to Pyan. Civilized
mad develop advance metalworking skills then
using it primarily for a completely frivolous
propose that they then base their entire society around.
He stops just long enough for the
healers to check him out then goes back searches
the area, first checking with Dorhak on how long he has to search before
they are done using magic and be free to leaving this location.
Perhaps venturing a little farther
away from the group than would be wisest but he
wants to give the magic users space to do whatever it is they do and
looking for more information about the land they
have found themselves in alone with searching for
more tracks of the horse. He move cautiously once he is
outside shouting range of the party being careful
not wonder into anything or let something sneak
up on him. Even though he has the tokens and the party's
magic users he keeps an eye out for food and water sources
Arawn feels Barbosa is stable for
now. But knows placing him into stone is risky
in his condition. If a strong 'arm' broke he'd
be transmuted back but die from the shock before
it could be fixed. He best not tell Dorhak that
for now. But then again Barbosa was dead just a
couple minutes earlier. So it is better than
nothing. He places both hands on Barbosa's chest
while speaking in the tongue of the sidh and
casts the spell. Almost instantly Barbosa is
changed into a hand sized heavy stone dwarf. Now
Arawn places him in a bag snug between clothing and rises to find the arrows.
The green magical energy from Kiet's
dagger wraps around Raddok's wounds and ends. It
seems most of his damage is gone except a bit of
a minor cut. But mostly healed. Raddok hands dagger back to Kiet.
Kiet places the dagger back in his
shield sheath and begins to murmur to
himself. He doesn't have time to do a rock altar
like he usually does. But hopes the sky gods will
accept this. He forms a pact with the air
supplemental by a quick spell. This causes wind
to wrap around Kiet and buffet Raddok nearby.
Then Kiet casts a sky spell to ask them where
they are. Soon a faint whisper in the form of
wind whips near his ears. He turns to the others
and glances at Dorahak and curses. Maybe he
shouldn't let him know so fast? Keeping this safe
to himself might be best for tension factor.
To avoid this Kiet moves off to find Pyan.
Aside from Unali, Arawn and Z'leyra
are still wounded. Now that Raddok has been
treated it seems no more to heal.
Z'leyra moves to Velf's body to
prepare for her Akasha spells. Casting and then
she studies the results. It worked but the
results are lacking. It is a blur of
sights. The rain is too much of a hindrance. It
seems Velf appears and quickly realizes its
raining. To save the book he places it inside
his tunic. Then some light is seen in the blowing
rain. It gets closer. Velf shields his eyes
trying to see then seems to speak but the spell
doesn't have audio. It seems the light is a
light or lantern on something tall? Velf looks
behind him to the way he came then turns around
and speaks more. Then two arrows strike him and
he falls. A figure is seen in the darkness
cloaked by a robe and hood. Possibly a rain robe
of some sort. No facial features is seen. The
figure probably a man seems to search Velf then
finds the book. The figure tucks the book inside
his own warm robe and moves back to the tall
thing probably a horse. It mounts up and the
lantern or light shifts under his weight. Then
the light moves away opposite direction of the
portal and is drowned by the rain. Little is
gleamed than isn't already learned. Except there
has to be two or more riders. Surely the lone
rider couldn't have fired both arrows. But the
spell was too obscured by the rain to tell more details.
As Kiet handed the arrows to Raddok
for Arawn something hits him. A very faint hint
of a smell. A smell he can barely sense but its
enough for his brain to rigger a memory. But he
can't recall exactly what. Something in his past
he has smelt it before. The arrows? Scent of a body or perfume?
Kiet trails after Pyan. Kiet closes
in and Pyan pulls dagger but realizes its
Kiet. Both are about 30 feet away from party
under a heavy canopy where little actual water
hit the ground until now. This makes tracks more
stable. Pyan points to several sets of
tracks. Based on pattern at least 3 horses. But
other possible tracks show they were washed
away. So at least 3 riders. That means they
could have at least a half hour head start being faster on horses.
Back at portal area, Fremea packs the
poison flasks away gently. Then stands and flaps
her wings like a dog drying herself. She needs
to invest in a heat/warmer spell for her wings. She then gathers near Dorhak.
Dorhak grunts as Arawn comes closer
to take the arrows. But Kiet and Pyan come back
to advise of the new trails. Dorhak clearly
doesn't want to spend time doing magic so moves
on after Pyan. Arawn figures he can cast tracking if the trail ends.
The party fans out with Unali taking
right and Dorhak the left with the others behind.
Pyan and Kiet using his new dark
sight spell leads. Pyan soon finds more clues of
broken limbs, clumps of horse hair and signs of
animals fleeing the area from the wake of
horses. As the party moves south the mountain
begins to slope and the footing is slow to
prevent falling. Finally the forest seems to
open up about 15 minutes later into a
clearing. Unali on the right is first to see
it. A flicker of light. Then Fremea in the sky
also spots it. Arawn whistles slightly like a
bird and halts the party as he points at the flicker.
Unali moves closer to a clove of
bushes and trees to the right and about 30 feet
away. Fremea higher up about 30 feet notices the
flicker at better angles. Unali stops as Fremea
realizes the same thing. The flicker is from not
a campfire but a cave with light escaping the mouth.
It is hard to tell the entrance shape
but no sight of horses so it must be large enough
for a horse or two to enter? The terrain here is
relatively flat with only about 5-10 degrees
slant. The cave is to the right and forward with
a new set of heavy forest across the clearing
about 40-50 feet away. To the left the terrain
seems to slant more about 80 or so feet away
about 30 degrees. There is no more rain but the
wind is still damp and strong coming from the
right - east. The clearing is about 150 feet wide west to east.
Dorhak wonder if this is them or just a different set of people?
GM: Actions? Comments?
Next update...Wed/Thur?
GM: I assume Raddok was only healed as
spoke up from Kiet's offer. This is technically
late but early than Saturday. ;) Next week
Tue/Wed/Thur will be super busy. IF I did a
update it'd be Wed/Thur. If not will try
Saturday. But be prepared it could be delayed.
But then that would be Thanksgiving week. So be
aware of all of this. I'll try my best.
