[Recap]
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet yells out "Storm Giant
coming!" Then attempts an Elder Dispell at EL2,
as that can be cast in one phase (to cancel the
wind spell). If it fails, try a Max EL Dispell.
Kiets intent is to let it get
about 50' or so away then start alternating ring
fire with an Elder EL2 Dispell in hopes of
canceling any lightning bolts it may try to throw back.
Kiet will attempt to use whatever cover is available.
GM: Ack.
From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Luckily for Fremea, she has
flown in really bad weather and against the
winds. She knows what she can do to get through
this quickly. Once she knows where to go, she
uses the wind to fly upwards, going backwards a
little, to get above the winds extremely fast. At
the same time she pulls her bow and readies an
arrow (just after she gets out of the wind). She
then casts fire arrow and loosens her arrow at
the Giant. She should probably be frightened,
since this thing is almost 5x her size and could
probably squash her, that just never occurs to
her. It is more important that her family is protected.
She figures coming from above
the giant, it won't realize she is there until it is way too late.
GM: Ack. Good plan.
From Raddok: [Re: Actions]
[I sorta apologize to the group
at this time as I have very wordy, long updates -
lol - but still new at this & really having fun
thinking for Raddok & building a reality for him.
He's a bit of a quiet, thoughtful man, less
action-oriented than some others of the group,
and is learning rapidly how to deal with
unexpected action & to be helpful to these new friends of his.] ;)
(OOC to GM: Is Raddok in the
tent that is his? - mistakenly thought it was
2-man tent, but is 1-man, so maybe not, if
sharing a tent with someone? If not his tent,
then assume his tent still attached to his
backrack with other extra supplies. Up to GM
either heâs in his tent, which blows away, or
in another tent, which also blows away the
backrack will blow away somewhat but not far,
rolling, as weighs around 30+ pounds)
GM: Ack. Used all but 1 or lines.
From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra holds her staff tightly
(and defensively) as she casts her Balance spell
of Speed on herself at max EL so as to be able to
move in this wind. Following this she moves to
Dorhak and casts Invulnerability on him (if he is
undamaged) through her staff at the highest EL
she can when taking two phases to do so (changing
targets if Dorhak is damaged before the spell gets cast).
GM: Ack. Got 1st part the 2nd with Dorhak is a surprise.
From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
At the true dwarf village,
Dorhak enjoys the graciousness of his

GM: Ack.
GM: Ack.
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
No...Kiet didnât mean use the
fire rings for the hyenas. He was more hoping to
get a bit of CEP for a change. He has some attributes to advance.
GM: Ack. Yes misread. Sorry. I'll
even emali you on current actions to ensure something.
From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Arawn rose from his slumber with
a start, the tent ballooning out
OOC:
- Arawn will cast
Translocation (EL 7 to cover 8 people) to move
himself and the rest of the party (including
NPC's) outside of the visible effects (blowing
grass, dirt, tents, etc.) of the Wind spell. If
he can place them in various spots he'll do so as
intelligently as possible - armed party members
within charging distance of the giant, while
those without weapons will be moved to a spot
where they can arm themselves, and ideally in a
rough circle so any spell cast by the Storm Giant
shouldn't be able to reach all of them. But if
they have to all go to one spot he'll pick an
area that can afford some cover while allowing
armed party members to be able to charge into melee.
- After this Arawn will
maintain his distance from the giant and focus on
using Negate Magic (max EL) to hopefully block
any further spell casting from the Storm Giant.
If he finds himself charged and unable to escape
he'll cast Energy Shield (assuming it shouldn't
get in the way of Negate Magic).
GM: Ack. Good plan however a bit of
a logistics issue. Spells are cast BEFORE
players movement. Sooooo...see below. ;)
From Tsia: [Re:Actions]
Tsia shakes her head to clear out the shock from having been
GM: Ack.
From Tsia: [Re: Actions]
Sorry folks, Tsia will have to
get used to the stuff you fight. Considering her
background animals she can deal with, giants on
the other hand, uhm.. she's looking at trying to
figure out what what she's looking at.
GM: Ack. It can be random stuff. :)
From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Something to hide from.
Feets dont fail me now!
GM: Ack.

[New Stuff]
[Ma 6th, 1636TH]
[Time: 11:15 am Dwarf Village]
At the true dwarf village, Dorhak
enjoys the graciousness of his kin. It is,
indeed, nice to be able to relax and finally
drink some real ale. That stuff humans call ale,
well, just isnt. More like tree sap mixed with horse pee.
while they are all talking, and in
Dwarf Elder no less, Dorhak has a glimmer of an
idea. It may be the answer hes looking for. He
asks around for the village leader, ostensibly to
give his thanks, but he has a further
motive. After the small talk, Dorhak broaches
the true topic responsible for his visit.
"is there any way you can swiftly
contact the closest or, better yet the largest
Dwarf Kril and ask them to send us someone who
can negotiate with these Bes? I have come across
an item that originally was protected by another
group of dwarves (who are, sadly, no longer) far
from here, and I fear these Bes will attempt to
make claim to it." He shifts over to Dvallin "I
do not believe they have any such claim." Back
to Dwarf Elder, he says "I seek to ask that Kril
if the would be willing to accept the item into
their treasury for safekeeping. It would, then,
become theirs. I fear I cannot protect it from others."
"Id be willing to pay someone to make the effort."
The Elder with a great flowing gray
beard, Laegar, considers this. We dwarves d o
not have a stronghold for such a powerful
item. We have our warrens but they are deep but
hard to defend. You are only a day or two away
from Bes Kril which is our land's strongest
stronghold. Our leader...though Besamer...is
there but we also have a large group of our kin
there. If you feel unsure if t could be held
safely then give it to a leader in our group
there. They may not have the full vaults the Bes
leader does but it would be more safer than our warrens.

[Ma 7th, 1636TH]
[Time: 1:07:00 am]
[Turn 1: Phase 1]
Z'leyra warned by her brooch can feel
the wind hitting her tent. It has toppled over
at a angle but her body prevents it from rolling
away. But this is no simple wind storm as her
warning is clear of danger. She grabs her staff
as her helmet doesnt seem to be at hand or is
not crumpled under the fabric of the tent. She
crawls to the tent door as the weight of the tent
is on her back. With staff in hand she crawls
outside. But the darkness is thick as the
campfire is down in brightness by 95% due to
wind. The weight of the wind pushes her to the
ground. Tilting head away from wind she prepares to spend mana for a spell.
Arawn rose from his slumber with a
start, the tent ballooning out and away, tossing
him and some of his gear out in the process. The
windstorm had come out of nowhere, without
warning from those on watch, and it was enough to
set the alfar on guard. His eyes, naturally
attuned to the dark, took in the disarray all
around him even as he caught sight of the oncoming giant.
Though he had never faced one he knew
well enough the children of Utgard Geror, servant
of the Great Serpent Kototh. He glanced at his
heavier gear, lying within reach, reaching for
them even as he quickly thought of his action
against the evil. A well placed spell could fell
the giant or cancel the wind but if it failed to
get through the storm giant's defenses it would
leave the rest of the party vulnerable. Turning
his head to and fro too quickly assess his
companions, he could see the tell-tale build-up
of magic around Kiet and Z'leyra. Not wishing to
risk disrupting their actions he focused his spell on the other party members
instead.
A practitioner of Storm Magic he knew
that the wind spell should only affect a limited
corridor and if the party could evacuate the area
they would be free to move. Casting against the
howling wind he attempted to Translocate the
other party members outside the confines of the
storm giant's spell. If he succeeded his focus
would then be to prevent the giant from casting
further magics, whether to slay or flee.
Kiet yells out, "Storm Giant coming!"
Kiet clings to the tree or be thrown off. He
quickly taps his boots together to activate his
boots and starts to build mana for a spell.
Z'leyra casts her speed spell on
herself and gets the strength to finally stand
facing away from the wind in the west.
Arawn can barely crawl out of the
tent as pinned down by the wind but tries to lift
hand to gesture for a spell. He casts
translocation on nearby allies but knows it won't
catch everyone. He only goes on vision sees
Kiet and location of tents of others from hours ago.
Arawn teleports away about 40 feet
away and now out of the wind. He quickly
stands. He was prepared and raises his sword and shield.
Suddenly Kiet is snatched away and
teleported north of his location out of the
wind. He begins to move forward and toward the
ground but his acrobat nature keeps him from a face plant on the ground.
Those on the ground on backs or on
knees trying to escape tents are suddenly
translocated either 40 feet north or south out of
the wind. Mournath, Raddok and Barbosa suddenly
teleported away. Unfornately without warning so
they had no time to grab weapons.
Unali can feel the tingle of a spell
but some item maybe a bracelet or such prevents
the spell and she remains in place at her tent as she resists the spell.
Z'leyra standing finds herself
teleported away before she could head to help
Dorhak as planned. But at least she has her staff.
Kiet confused now standing outside
the wind casts his spell toward the Wind itself
now about 25 feet away. The wind ceases and folks can now move.
Fremea not affected by the wind since
its gone flies straight up and then west as she
shifts her quiver and bow in place. She flies
toward the Giant to get in range.
Unali sheathes her daggers in her
belt and bends in her tent. She moves one bag
away and to another and pulls out her fine
rope. She jerks it out and onto her shoulder and
with her other hand grabs the discarded tent hook
nearby. She runs straight for the giant.
The Giant runs east toward the camp.
Tsia now can move reaches for her
daggers and quickly exits the tent only to see a
towering giant heading into camp.
Tsia shakes her head to clear out the
shock from having been knocked over by one of the
tents. Managing to sit up on her knees and as
she leans back on her legs and stops as she can
see the giant. Her one baleful eye opens wide in
shock as she just stares at it horrified fascination.
Unable to comprehend how something
that huge can exist she tries to desperately get
her body to respond but can only manage to ask
herself repeatedly the same question, how can something that large even exist?
Mournath teleported away has no
weapons as didn't have time. He hears something
about giant and rushes back toward his tent even
though the darkness is intense.
Pyan grabs his weapons and exits the
collapsed tent to see the giant charging in.
Raddok is awakened when the tent
starts rattling around as if someone is tearing
it out of the ground & a high wind is screaming
outside. He covers his head & curls up for a
moment, his body instinctively protecting itself,
but a dimly-heard shout in the wind seems to be
calling torm giant & he quickly looks about
himself for armor & weapons the camp is
flattened & in disarray. Still lying on his belly & trying to rise.
At least that was the plan to grab
his shield and mace until he was whisked away
about 60 feet from his tent. Now standing with no gear in hand.
[He does not immediately think of his
magic ring, as has not used it in a fight for so
long - he has briefly forgotten he is still
wearing it. He has occasionally used it over the
adventure, at Kiet's suggestion, practicing with
it, learning its range, keeping its spell &
operation clear in his mind, & learning how to
aim it without thinking about it, but not since
they arrived in this strange land.]
Raddok looks around in the dark,
spotting Kiet & looking in the direction where
he's looking, spots the weird faint sparking of
what? Fire? Lightning? Good grief, this is a
storm giant? Wow. He's never seen one before, but
knows a real fight is ahead of them all.
He has temporarily forgotten his ring
BUT when/if he sees a flame or any use of a
magic ring, he will suddenly remember it, and
prepare it for use, as the creature is already
within the range (he has learned its range with
practice, & not having used it for a few days, it
is at full strength, & has two good charges in it
for hitting soft spots perhaps he can circle
around to find a way to distract & hurt the giant).
He also then remembers the horses,
(but they are probably panicking right now &
might have run, especially if their tethers are
broken) they can be fetched later right now,
the fight must focus on the giant but there's a
niggle of worry in the background of his mind, so
he starts to work toward the horses (if they
haven't already fled), as he can easily see the
sparkly ?head? - rising well above their
surroundings. He also watches the giant's knees,
waiting to see if he can hit them without hitting
anyone else. Once he remembers the ring, he will use that first.
Raddok curses as he rushes back to his tent to get his weapons.
Dorhak grabs his shield and mace as he tries to
exit his collapsed tent. Something about
giant? HE exits to find Z'leyra right in front
of him for some odd reason. He shrugs and sees
the giant. With a battle rage war cry he
charges. He swings his mace hits the left leg doing 6 points of damage.
Gnorf grabs his mace and shield and
exits his fallen tent and runs to charge the giant.
Barbosa has no weapons as he was
jerked away from his tent. He runs back to his tent to gather his weapons.

[Ma 7th, 1636TH]
[Time: 1:07:04 am]
[Turn 1: Phase 2]
Kiet casts a dispel spell in hopes to
stop the giant from casting magic. But the only
problem is what spell He could cast several and
need the specific spell and plus the giant is
probably a slower caster so hard to disable a spell before its cast.
Arawn casts a negate spell in hopes
to do the same as Kiet but is unaware of any effects.
Fremea casts her spell on her bow and
the mana signature glows. Fremea gets within 20
feet of the giant and whistles to have giant look
at her. Aiming for a eye she fires! The fire
arrow ignites and hits the right cheek just below
the eye. It does 24 points as it tears through
flesh and another 6 in fire damage. The Giant
roars in anger as blood gushes outward and down.
Kiet raises his right hand and fires
his pinky ring to no effect. The giant must've resisted against it.
Raddok fires his ring but it seems to
fire but on hitting the giant fizzles out as it seems to resist the damage.
The Giant finishes a spell of his own
and suddenly around in a 60 foot area a lightning
swarm flashes to life. All those in that area
are suddenly affected by the spell.
A stray bolt slams near Dorhak but does not hit him.
A bolt hits Fremea doing 9 points of damage.
A bolt hits Gnorf doing 9 points of damage.
A bolt hits next to Kiet but does not
hit as his resistance helps defend against it.
Bolts head for Mournath, Pyan and
Raddok but they barely miss slamming on the ground.
A bolt hits Z'leyra but does no damage due to resistance.
A bolt hits Tsia doing 6 points of damage.
A bolt hits the ground near Unali missing.
A bolt hits Barbosa doing 6 points of damage.
Kiet knows this swarm reaches the
entire camp and if he runs away he'll be out of
range of any spells. He runs toward the giant
and gets behind him. He draws his tulwar and
swipes hopefully at a Achilles heel area. But he
misses as the giant shift just slightly to the side.
up just behind him ready to cast spell on him.
Z'leyra moves toward the giant and moves behind Dorhak to help him.
Unali moving has fastened the rope
around the hook and moves toward the back of the
giant ending up near Kiet. But she leaps upwards
and with one hand holding dagger slices at the
giants left leg impaling deep doing 10 points of
damage. But the purpose was to anchor herself.
She swings the hook toward the belt of the giant
and loops it around a belt loop. Now she can at
least climb to his waste and try for a good back attack.
Arawn moves back toward camp but he
is so far north that he is the only one not
affected by the swarm. So remains just outsides its range.
The giant lifts his large great sword
and swings it at Fremea but misses as it slices the air near her.
Mournath reaches his tent once again
grumbling how he ended far from camp and
searching for his spear. He finds it and moves toward the giant.
Pyan charges through the swarm and
helps to engage the giant. He thrusts with spear but misses.
Raddok looks around for the horses
but its so dark. He doesn't hear them so figures
they fled off. So he heads to help fight against
the giant. He swings mace but fails to hit the giant.
Dorhak also seems to miss the giant
as it weaves side and side to avoid being hit.
Barbosa runs back to his tent where
he was ejected and tries to find his mace but
only finds his shield. He curses that the tent
is a mess and vows to find out who did
this. Finally he finds and grabs his mace and exits his tent.
Gnorf with weapons now rushes to help
against the giant but the large arm moves out
just out of reach as the swing misses.

[Time: 1:07:07 am]
[Turn 1: Phase 3]
GM: Actions? Comments?
Next update...Saturday? Or Mon-Wed.
GM: Ugh. Started 4 hours late yesterday
so if had started on time this would've been done
yesterday. But delays due to that. Had hoped to
do update Saturday but unsure 2 days will be
enough time for you guys to react. If it is I
may do or try update Sat to finish the
combat. Else it'll be next week. It would take
2 phases for most to leave the swarm maybe 1 if
fast. But giant is badly hurt so may not last that long.
Almost finished last night but was
bedtime so had to stop till today. Since its 2
days late doubt folks have time now to reply for
Sat. so guess it'll be next week. But if enough folks do I can try.
GM: Arawn You are outside swarm. So
be sure range for any negate magic stuff (for
swarm I assume). Yeah as see above it forced 3-4
to lose chance to grab weapons due to mechanics
spells before movement. ;) You are off map due
north of giant so about 62 feet away or so.
Dorhak: Will assume don't block Z's
help but then again combat may end before its used.
Fremea: Do you want to climb above
the swarm? You'd be at 70+ feet tho. Firing into
swarm will be less effective. Keep in mind if
hit again it could be devastating if stay in
swarm and likely will be hit before can leave.
Kiet: Can fire even only a few feet
from giant. But to hack at him would be eaiser experience. :)
Raddok: Can fire ring again.
TSIA: You can either flee the swarm
in case you don't want to risk being hit again or
move to help attack. I'll consider this phase 2
action since wasn't sure I will save it. If
decide to get closer you'll be at E19 and can attack giant next phase.
Unali: Once can brace yourself or
climb up to the belt can use both daggers.
Z'leyra: If cast Invul on Dorhak
assuming combat lasts that long what for phase 4?
