[New Stuff]
[Fireday , Fertility week, Storm
Season, 1625, Genertela, Glorantha]
[Time: 8:20 pm]
Rocky observes the approaching
tuskriders and announces to the rest of the party
'We donna want ta git inta a grand melee wid dem
tuskers. We ud die. Best chance is ta challenge
ta a one on one wid dere champion if'n we canna
just trade peaceable like. If ya need ta I can champion us."
Mournath scans for high ground and
finds not much that could be useful except the
forest and hills to the east. Riders would
easily trample us if they can ride in on flat
ground! We have to find a more defensible
position! Hills, trees, anything to break up a
straight charging lane. If we MUST stay in this
position, we need to blunt their charge by laying
in some sharpened saplings around this area that will impale them on a charge.
Juno says to the group, I vote for
Rocky to be our champion. I can apply a buffs to
give to an bonus to your melee weapon or your
speed or to your extra missile and or power to
you ranged weapons or protection to your life
would you allow the empowering to you with these
powers although be it temporary? Let me know and
I will open up my mind and faith and release my
power and pray for these boons?
Juno sings an anthems to his higher
power to promote Rocky with a song.
Rocky is the champion Rocky is our champion. No
time for losers cause he is our champion of the world
Varo listens to Rocky's proposal. She
thinks about it & her own skills and inventory,
and offers some initial proposals for the group
to discuss. That may be a good idea, if you
think you can do it, Rocky. It's a generous offer.
I like the idea of first offering to
trade, but what kind of things would they be
interested in for trade? We still have some extra
arrows & such from the runners, but not sure
that's always wise, depending upon the tuskers, of course.
I do have a small pottery cooking
pot to trade, but the couple of bracelets & rings
I have are not likely the kind of thing I'd want
to show them they're more for wedding giffts
although if they like shiny things & have good
furrs, cloth or leathers, it might work out. But
I don't want to give them the idea that I have
any more than that it's ALL I have. If I have to
show them, you or somebody else is going to have
to practically force me to show them & I'm gonna
whine that they are not mine & I'm carrying them
to deliver for a wedding up north. So be prepared
for me to have only that little bit. If they have
fine furs or cloth, I can be convinced by all of
you that I can trade because the wedding party
will love having more fine furs.
Juno speaks to Rocky, Did you mean
to champion us to fight one on one or just you
fight one of them one on one for us as a champion
like the arm wrestling troll incident.
"I ud like ta gets usn out a this wit
as small a fight'n n dying as we can. So like wid
da troll but hopefully wit me winnin." Rocky replies.
With renewed urgency in his voice
Juno says, I have to say to Rocky anything I can
help you with winning let me know how to serve and protect.
He then continues to group, When
Rocky wins which I have faith he will, they may
still be angry with us. So what method of
operation do we take to have the best chance of success when things go sour?
The party discusses plans and change of plans.
Juno says, Rocky would be willing to
ride a horse instead of being the champion, and
lead us out of the darkness to a clear path to
avoid a conflict with these group of scary things.
Rocky suggests, "But rather than rely on
Tuskers be'en all peaceful like, which they ain't
known fer...best we git on der horseys an head
thet aways." Pointing in a way 90 degrees off the
route the Tuskers were traveling. "We shud do it
right hasty too. Put me up in front a someone on
the lead hoss en I kin guide us in the dark."
Varo looks at the approaching
horde. To be honest, I would prefer to flee.
Let's double up on the horses & flee sideways to
them, as it may be fast enough to get away from
them, or discourage them. Can we pack in less
than 10 minutes? She begins to grab anything
she's begun to set out & wrap it firmly up to
toss on her horse, to prepare to flee.
I agree, Rocky should lead us, I can
ride behind him if it's easier. I think heading
for the forest is best, so we should leave very
soon. Hopefully we can lose them there, or they'll lose interest.
Juno grabs what he can and gets to
his horse and prepares to flee the area. Juno can
help anybody else pack up and follow the rest of
group keeping an eye on the beast riders.
Juno as he is bugging out sings a
song to himself, Time for us to ride
We got to set ourselves free.
It hurts to say goodbye but it is time for us to ride!
[Time: 8:32 pm]
As the group discusses their options
the Tusks have moved north toward the party. But
they do not seem to be in a full charge as it
might be bad for the animals to charge for the distance.
Marusk nods, so no champion fight? We flee?
Varen looks south into the darkness
but sees only dark forms. We can walk fast I suppose...
Jaren nods to Marusks and flexes his hands.
Varen starts to back up to gather his gear.
Marusk waves a hand, Veren be careful that branch behind you!
Then s smack is heard. Everyone
turns to see Vern collapse. Marusks behind
VVeren reaches for him but is too late to catch
him. He's out. Those darn branches.
Jaren nods, ok pack up as best you can lets move!
[Time: 8:48 pm]
Jaren and Marusks help Vern onto
Jarens horse. Marusk whispers, he'll wake up soon so he could be agitated.
Jaren nods, we'll have to deal then.
The campfire is doused to at least
make it harder for the tusks to spot them though
they are known to see in darkness. Tents and
full gear are gathered and packed up. Some wish
they could leave traps but the tusks line is so
wide it would matter little. The party moves
north with Rocky riding with Marusk on his horse on point.
[Time: 8:50 pm]
By now the Tusks have crossed the
plain a 3rd the way to camp as the party moves north.
Veren wakes up from his 'accident',
what...what? He begins to struggle and Jaren
holds him on the horse. Jaren stops and lets him down easy.
Veren grumbles and grabs his head. We've not gone far?!
Veren shakes his head, I will walk fast...lets go.
Marusk looks back, this hate for
horses is bad but can also get us killed.
Jaren reaches out, can you ride with eyes closed?
Veren grunts, lets go! he begins to walk very fast north.
[Time: 9:33 pm]
A very exhausted Veren languishes as
he gets close to the forest only a hundred meters
away. By now the tusks have have reached the
camp. As the party rests they look back to see
the second large group of tusks are some distance
behind the front tusk group. The party has a bit
more time to go but they notice the forward group
of 15-20 has increased speed.
[Time: 9:52 pm]
Since Varen is walking it has
decreased party speed. Some wish a tree accident
could happen again. But he has hired them so he is the boss for now.
The party gets about 50 feet from the
forest and they just may make it. But the tusks
are only a 400-450 feet behind. They have made
good progress while the party has slowed down.
Rocky scans the forest and grunts and
forces Marusks to stop the horse.
A figure emerges from the forest. A
tall lanky figure in what in this moon light
seems to be green and browns. He raises a hand
the party stops reaching for weapons.
The figure speaks. But the tongue is cryptic to all but Marusk.
HE speaks a few words and then
dismounts with Rocky following suit. Varen is
out of breath and leans down holding his knees.
Marusk turns to the party,
elves. They are asking if we intend to enter
the forest. I asked if we could. But the one
there says he does not like tusks coming and they
should be stopped. He turns to ask about the tusks.
Suddenly maybe 2 dozen arrows fly
from the forest all along the forest edge. They
land only feet from each horse and
member. Clearly they could've aimed at the party
but seemed to only be giving a warning shot. But
the idea is clear they mean business and there
must be many unseen in the forest.
The tusks get within 300 feet. The
larger group is far in the distance and will take
a long time to get here so only the 15-20 tusks in this first group.
The Elf seems to raise his voice and
speak in a accented tradetalk. We warned you
tusks not to venture into our forest. You will turn back or we will stop you!
Jaren looks down at Varen who now
stands as he catches his breath.
For those who are weak in tradetalk
it is translated so it can be understood. Now what?
The tusks are now around 275 feet
behind party and moving not slowing down.

GM: Actions? Comments?
Next Update: Saturday?
GM: Ok. I foresaw this as a TPK
thing. But I did have a backup plan of
survival. I wanted to do that logistics post so
you could see the full picture. Since the
Challenge fight was canceled we move on. But now
party is between two strong groups. So figure a
good place to stop. Especially this is a LARGE
update. So best to get it out. Will work on it
sat or Monday depending on responses.
